Great review. Just bought and installed (2) SVS SB2000's and absolutely love them. Your data and detail in review is why people ask for you to review speakers & subs that can find other reviews on. It's your credibility and trust they look for. You are one of the best out there because you blend data, with real world application.
I just purchased my 4th Klipsch SPL-120 for my 14' x 20' x 8' living room home theater. The previous 3 were 1/4 wall placed with two up front and one in back. This new one has to be right-rear corner loaded due to furniture. My good friend with two PB-1000 in a room slightly smaller likes my bass with three subs much better than his. We both can't understand the hate my subs get from the community. The fact all four cost me a total of $1700 USD is awesome. Anyways...I REALLY wanted to go to two RSLs instead of 4 Klipsch but I live in Europe. Seeing this review makes me jealous even though what I have is great by objective (REW measured and balanced) and subjective standards. The thirst for "new and better" never ends it seems. Thanks for all the work you do!
Erin does a great job with limited resources available to him, supplying valuable data to back up his analysis. He does not use subjective terms to evaluate music performance and seems an open honest guy that loves what he does for very little financial reward. We need more people like him in this industry

@@CC-xu2yz Yeah, pretty expensive i hear and takes some skill to know what you're doing with it. I think Erin does a good job. An anechoic chamber is out of the question I feel.
The 12s is definitely one of the better performing subs under $1000. I would have been completely happy with a pair if I didn't already have PSA subs. Regarding the size, it is within a couple inches in HxWxD of a PSA EV1813, it's huge for a 12".
@@CC-xu2yz i have a feeling i'll most likely be returning mine and building my own. i may have an issue with it but so far it certainly doesnt meet expectations. not even close tbh. ive been workin w support trying to figure it out.
yeah .. what you said Erin about different rooms is the exact reason why I bought a subwoofer for HT sound based on your data when you did the subwoofer shootouts a couple years ago..😉
Perfect timing! I've been digging through all the available data and honestly the 12s competes squarely with the SVS PB-2000 Pro, which is quite a bit more expensive, especially for 2. Still would love to see a photo of the 2 of them right next to each other. SVS is a bit narrower, but is longer... RSL is taller, wider and more 'square' while SVS has rounded corners. Both are right at the limit of what will physically fit in my room, and I certainly don't want to have to return either!
I've really appreciated your tests on subs at multiple input voltages particularly with the (fairly prevalent) DSP controlled subwoofers. I've not seen anyone post this type of test. I think it's easy to assume that a subwoofer largely performs the same way at all volumes but (as your tests prove) this is not always the case. For those who use either automated or manual room correction, the change in frequency response based on input voltage very well will mean that a system which measures well at the testing volume might not be accurate at listening volumes. I tend to wonder how phase comes into play in these situations as well. Thanks for raising the bar on testing. Much appreciated.
Thanks for a sub review. I have a pair of SVS SB1000 Pros for my 2.2 channel music system and they really fill in the bottom for rock and electronic music. At only $900 US for the pair and with the control with the SVS app they’re a great sub system IMO. Peace, love and music!
It's cool that you brought up James Larson, I've been thinking it would be cool if you guys could chat on products you guys are leading the way with the fine details on frequency measurements 👍 I mean if you had questions for him on anything those are going to be some good questions It would be cool I was thinking if you guys could show results on your outdoor setups or in your premium indoor setup Erin doing tests with different mics at least a few times on a few good Subs. In the back of my mind I'm always wondering how much of a difference on results a different mic would make. Haven't heard anyone bring this up either.
As far as underrated subs go, why is it that Rythmik subs is so big in the underground/enthusiast scene but so few people that actually review their subs w/ measurements.
Erin, regarding boundary compensation, I've used an old NHT 1259 DIY sealed box sub dropping off at around 30Hz, in two homes. By Swedish standards, normal sized living rooms. One with concrete walls (apartment), one with outside walls (wooden). Corner loaded, that sub delivered nicely, fairly linear, down to 15Hz, in both. It's a real thing, not just to be nice to neighbors (I was awful to them when in the apartment, it was fun having such a bass response.. :) A sub linear down to 20 would have been horrible for both installs, without DSP. I think that the compensation mode of the RSL would be sort of perfect for getting good results in many smaller living rooms. Happier neighbours as a bonus, not as the reason to use it.
Great review Erin! I would love to see the tone winner D4000 reviewed and compared to this RSL which is a great sub. I'd also love to see the tone winner D6000 reviewed as well. I don't believe many have reviewed either except for spec of tech so far
yo at ear level? can you elaborate a little about your experience with placement and your room size/shape? im curious cause i kinda wanna try that...i was thinking of maybe doing two 10s's vs one 12s.
@Superman54 yes. I discovered a long time ago that subs sound better, off the floor, and they sound way way better, the higher you go. It's a bit of an ugly setup, I have 2 pairs of smaller subwoofers underneath them, that I no longer use. And I just happened to reach the right ear level height that way. My subs cone centers are dead ear level, left and right, to my sides and slightly behind. The BEST part of these RSL subs is the adjustable phase, it's not just a dumb switch. With a pair of them you can dial it in to be very flat, via just the phase controls. I have a ton of speakers but currently up front is a pair of LS50Metas on Orchard Audio monoblocks, and the RSL pair is pure magic honestly. Normally I am an upgrade FREAK, and the subs would have been gone by now. Should tell you something. They are great, and cheap! Probably the cheapest things in my system. Do *not* buy just one.
@bearclaw5115 that's fine. But if you've never run a pair you won't understand what I'm talking about. Do whatever you want, it's your money. I'm just saying running one sub is horrible. It's night and day with a pair. Yes, the 12 is technically better but the 10 mkii is fabulous. It didn't suddenly become a bad sub. Buy but whatever you want, do whatever you want. It's your world.
I'm just guessing here, but maybe it sounds better at ear level because the bass doesn't bounce off the floor like it normally would, which might give a cleaner sound@@Audfile
"slow" loudspeakers and subwoofers is a function of how well the system handles transients. The settling time of the woofers. That's an objective measurement that can only be found in the impulse response of the subwoofer or loudspeaker. That being said, if you have zero acoustic treatment in your room and/or your DSP isn't doing anything to control reverb in your room (Trinnov Waveforming or Dirac ART), the impulse response of a sub (or loudspeaker) will be smeared (slowed). Some companies like Genelec and a few other companies who also produce active loudspeakers, designed their products to have that short impulse response through very carefully manufactured drivers and a maximally damped cabinet. Take Genelec's "The Ones" series. The impulse response of those speakers is darn near perfect. Genelec's subs are darn near perfect in their transient speed as well. All of that rambling aside, the transient speed of a system as a whole is dominated by the RT of a room. Only after you control the RT in your room can you actually be able to compare different loudspeakers/subs' transient speeds in "real world" use. That is unless..... you have a Klippell.
This is the comment I hoped someone would make. Probably of less importance but still worth measuring I would say are distortion and group delay vs frequency.
I can’t wait until RSL start venturing into the 15 inchers in size I remember they only had the 10inch and they did a masterful job when they got into making 12 inch subwoof so I can’t wait to see what they do once they decide to start making 15 inch sizes
For real. I might wait to get a partner for the 12S until they do release such a beast. I believe I heard a few coy hints that something could be in the works next in one of RSL’s longer interviews.
Check out HSU VTF-TN1 15 " Subwoofer. This brand has better features and a better warranty than other brands. They're priced just right and they've been around for at least 10 yrs.
Interesting point about moving sub away from wall. I have 2 Polk PSW10's (one was free and one was cheap) and I am struggling with boominess. I have a MiniDSP2x4HD and I've EQ'd the sub to be pretty good (only -3 at 30hz), but it's still too ringy. I ended up just putting them right behind my head and it's ok but not quite there. I'm gonna try sealing the subs to see how that sounds and also eq'ing it to go down in db the lower it gets. Counterintuitive but the ringing must be stopped! :D I wanna reiterate how much of a beast you are, Erin. You are changing lives with the information you put out. Thanks!
You may want to try raising them off the floor 6 to 12 inches. Also make sure the sub isn't cutting in at too high a frequency and/or the volume level of the sub simply set too loud.
another great review Erin .. I was thinking it would be nice (?) if you could get data on a 10s and do a comparison. The 12s is a bit big. It would be nice to check out the tradeoffs with the 10s mk2, since there appears to be a revised version.
Great description. I have noticed that most subwoofers are rated up to 200Hz. And this one starts rolling off a bit at maybe 110hz to 200hz. I was wondering why they don’t play flatter up higher. Is it just the inductance of the voice coil? Or do they actually add an inductor to roll them off early. Or is it stiff surrounds?
Great review! You cover a lot of important information in a short amount of time. Some kind of outdoor impulse response would be an interesting comparison. That moving mass is great to get a response down to 16 Hertz but maybe not so great at reproducing a 50 hz fundamental kick drum. I have seen companies like REL use lightweight drivers that sacrifice low-end extension for less overshoot. But like you say the room may be a larger factor.
When you go down an octave you need factor 10 the power, live you could say highs 10w, mids then 100w, low mid bass 1000w, Subbass then 10,000watts (open air, free field non array bass), basically the deeper you go the power output goes exponentially up, and when you really want linear down to 20Hz then you have to start moving lots of air
If the size of the 12S is an issue I would strongly consider the RSL 10S as a viable alternative. It won’t the same performance as the 12S but it will hold its own, and the possibility of using 2 10s’ isn’t out of the picture. I actually have one of the original 10s subs in my 24x13x8 living room I have no need for a second sub.
Great and important info, thanks! I'm not sure how hard this would be, but in future reviews of ported subs can you provide any insight into the SPL level at which the port starts to chuff or exhibits other noise? If a sub has a lot of port noise when squeezing out the last 5dB of output at a given frequency then in my opinion those last 5dBs aren't worth using in most cases.
I hear you. I did that some of my earlier subwoofer reviews, but it slipped my mind lately. I guess because I just haven’t noticed any issues and that regard. But I’ll try to keep that in mind for future subwoofer reviews.
Hi Erin thank you for the video! Could you please do a video on sub equalization for a 2 channel setup? For the love of god I cannot integrate a sub nicely in 2 channel system. I am running into an issue where 30hz and lower frequencies are just not time aligned with my mains. My mains are the revel ultima floor standing speakers, so they get pretty low, but it feels like my sub is always trailing behind the mains. Pulling sub forward 1 feet helps but it’s not ideal. I am thinking about getting a Mini Dsp flex and a umik2 to help with integration, but if you can do a video on this topic I would greatly appreciate it.
i agree, but maybe not many uses dsp so he is following the common gear people have and makes videos about that. the big point of dsp is time delay for main speakers, so you do not have to move the subwoofer closer to time align it. if you get a dsp like the flex you get access to so much more also, powerful tool :) but then you do not need or want active subwoofer, tose have their own dsp and delay, some can bypass it. if you are interested i can write down some methods for subwoofer, and you do not need mic or any software, just an online tone generator.
It would be cool if you could get your hands on one of those big tall tekton subs. The multiple drivers and tall height i would imagine that would produce a more even response, compared to a single driver on the floor
does a powered sub under 300 even exist? id say w that tight of a budget your best bet is to diy one. i have a 12s and im not impressed with it at all. ive been trying to figure out if it has an issue w rsl support. if theres no issues w it ill be returning it for sure and building my own. your definition of good bass compared to a reviewer could be totally opposite. this thing is supposed to slam and shake everything. well it doesnt, my little jbl soundbar w a 12" bluetooth sub hits just the same. which leads me to believe theres an issue. i feel the jbl more than i do the rsl. so far like i said not impressed. if it ends up not having an issue man stay away if you like bass and diy.
What are your thoughts on sealed subs for a living room home theater? Ive read a lot of opinions that say that ported is preferred for lower extension, but something like the SB3000 has a good amount of output for the size.
regarding boundary setting: does room gain in LF mean an increase of a specific area say 40hz or does it mean the 40 reaches lower say to 30hz (while against a wall)?
I wish they would find an EU distributor. As well as other us brands by the way. Maybe they could join forces and find a better deal for all of them as a same single distributor.
Another great review Erin. Thumbs up to your channel. Hopefully please review the Rythmik FM8s dual 8-inch. Keep up the good work. Looking for a sub for 2 channel setup that goes well with/ my LRS+ in a bit smaller room about 12 ft X 15ft 10 ft ceiling height
The crossover is generally around 80-110hz in order for the SW not to be located. This is generally regulated on the back of the subwoofer (for those who do not use DSP). Is the low frequency response influenced by the crossover frequency to the speaker?

@@ErinsAudioCorner I have 2 of the monolith 15" v1. I didn't think the 12" v1 was that much. I actually got my 15" because of your recommendation. I don't regret the purchase at all. Thanks
How would a sub sound in the center of the room. Such as directly in front of you and centered between speakers. Such as a coffee table or foot stool location.
Take a sub from twenty years ago against a sub today. The bigges difference is how low the new ones play. Theyve always been loud. Most important thing ina sub may be spl but the biggest advancements are in infrasonic ability imo.
You’re not going to find something that’s smaller and outperforms this especially at only 200-400$ more That’s quite a tough task I mean this thing can hang with the PB 3000 pro and that costs like &1500 almost twice the price
I have a question for you. I have the martin logan motion 35 XTI, cambridge audio cxa61 and rel T9x(I've only had the sub a few days and can still return it). I'm mostly happy with this system except I can't play at high volumes without it sounding bright and fatiguing on many songs. Do you think it's the amp or the speakers? What would I have to change to get a more neutral presentation? I like transparency and detail but want to make a change that will prevent fatigue, not have overly accentuated treble and allow me to listen at higher volumes? Do I need floor standers? My listening space is big at 5000 cubic feet due to an open concept. I was looking at the Kef R3 Meta or Dynaudio evoke 20 if I stick with bookshelfs. I'm open to suggestions. If I change the amp I was thinking about audiolab. Thoughts?
what is your room treatment like? In some cases, room treatment can really help with this without having to change your setup. however, I would look at the measurements of your speakers and see if there seems to be a upper frequency bump in the response. EQ can help in both cases, but room treatment may be your best next step.
Hi Erin, I will repeat a comment which I recently dropped at an Audioholics YT posting because it totally fits w.r.t. your channel quality and also to the topic: „I really feel like your channel is one of very few sources which is providing relevant, helpful and objective data - so please, please keep on going that way! As for diving deeper in subwoofer measurements, one thing that still is a mystery to me is the ability of a sub to provide tactile slam and physical impact. The general opinion seems to be that this is just a matter of SPL / dynamic output capabilities. But, for example I am using 5 (five) SVS SB-2000 subwoofers in my small-sized, enclosed HT room. They are perfectly integrated with a 8-9db house curve, no dips/nulls and a very low decay time. My listening volume is around -12 to -10 (after calibration) on my Yamaha RX-A6A, there is no compression in the low end happing down to 20 Hz and I measured 110db at 10(!)Hz with REW RTA and peaks of around 120db with REW SPL meter with real movie material. Still, the tactile experience is much lower compared to a ported sub with the same driver size. I know that tactile experience is probably a very subjective thing, but perhaps this is a good reason for trying to find any kind of "objective measurement" because tactile/slam clearly this is something that the HT community is usually looking for in my opinion. Eager to hear your opinion on that one. Thanks for all your great reviews and best regards, Christian.“ 👍👍👍 for your efforts, Erin!
From what I understand the tactile slam comes from mid-bass output. As it happens mid-bass output is not a strength of this RSL 12S. Not bad, just underwhelming compared to the effortless low end capability. Why do you have 5 subs and what is their config in the room?
tactile bass is cone area, ports acts a small and delayed cone with huge excursion. and i recommend cross over subwoofers between 150 to 200hz. unless you got large main speakers. more subwoofers do not need to contribute to output but even out the response in the room at many listing positions, so useless unless you want just that. and forget about measure bass, you got to listen and tune the eq that way, online tone generator and do it that way. make it sound like 10hz is equally as loud at 100hz if you can. then the rest of the frequency band
Hello Erin, great review for this subwoofer, I was wondering if you would be interested in reviewing the new Klipsch Reference Premiere subwoofer line, from what I have heard it seems that they are the best ones yet. I would like to hear your opinion on them! Thanks!
Why is it that so many reviewers will say yes this sounds good for whatever speaker they are talking about… but rarely will say, “but this other model would be better for the money…” or “ this model is better than the other for the money, because…” So many reviews are done in a vacuum as if nothing else exists.
Do you ever do STI or MTI measurements for the boxes, basically you then have a value of 0.0 to 1.0 which 1.0 being the the box perfectly reproducing the input signal, I use AMFG SysTune for my work( from small studio systems up to stadiums and large festivals), and the impulse for measurement can be any impulse signal, so music tracks are my favourite when having an audience present, not making them angry with sweeps and pink noise 🤭🤭🤭, real world measurement you could say
Between the clean output, remote, and sound modes RSL has come out swinging. For $800 nothing touches it. If you can't live with the size or looks then spend more!
Not a budget subwoofer at all . 800 buck a piece they move your soul. Still trying to get them set up without them causing dry wall cracks. They are amazing .
im not impressed with mine at all. ive been trying to see if i have an issue w support. its not putting out anywhere near like other people say it does. which im almost thinking their opinion aka review is horrible. i fully expected it to shake everything and i really expected to feel it. my room is 15x18 w 9' ceilings. i can barely feel it at all for one. i also think its pretty weak tbh. i have a jbl soundbar w a 12" bluetooth sub that hits the same and i can actually feel it more in my chest. therefore it cant be the so called room which is just silly. RSL tried to blame my reciever to which i bought a new one. guess what same issue yet again. im assuming it may be the amp is bad perhaps. if that gets replaced and its the same then ill say if you want room shaking bass and you actually wanna feel it go w something else. ill keep the reciever and return the sub. once i return it i'll build my own subs. i planned on buying two of them. so glad i bought one to to try first though thats for sure. im hoping its simply an amp issue. if not i'll be done w peoples opinions or shall i say so called reviews. imo if youre reviewing a sub you should state the type of bass you like. then give an explanation of what you think is good bass. clearly opinions vary on whats heavy bass and whats not. in the end best thing i can say is you gotta test these yourself. i gotta admit im pretty pissed about the whole situation. id be lying if i said i wasnt. oh, the whole reason they wanted to blame the reciever is because my best friend upgraded and gave it to me. so theres that too
I have a pair of 10s mkii and placement is crucial (with any sub of course). I notice very little extra with the 2nd sub because of its placement. The first sub is in the perfect location for my room and it hits hard and fills the room. I have such a hard time believing that the 12s wouldn't do even better. Have you tried, or are you able to try different placements in your room?
@@ytj22 oh yea, I tried everything. The Bluetooth jbl does better. Kinda sad honestly, they tried to blame my reciever. Bought a new one still same thing. If it was as easy as placement I wouldn't have bought a reciever. Good to know though about 2. I'll be building my 2nd no matter what. Most likely the first as well.
@@parkersgarage4216 From what I've heard, the 12S does not have a ton of mid-bass impact. It's more of a deep bass rumbler. Location can definitely play a role too. You may be sitting in a null. Building your own subs may not be an automatic fix. I'd try a second 12S. You can compare it to the first and the second should fix any bass nulls at the listening position. I have a 10s in a slightly smaller room and it's a beast. I barely need to turn it on.
Try the phase switch I'm guessing your getting null cancellations, have you tried to play the subs without the mains to see if your getting the required spl, it could be possible that your mains are are connected in reverse causing the sub frequencies to cancel each other out with the mains. If you move around the room do you notice differences in base response? It's possible that the room may be causing this issue too as lower frequency tones have high a much higher frequency length so the sounds waves travel much further, thus the reason your hear it in the next room. Try reversing the direction of the subs or opposing them or do a sub crawl. Use a spectrum analyser with your mobile and play a frequency test tone to see if you have any dips in the response
It's a pity you cannot buy those in Europe (manufactured in Europe). Buying in US, and shipping to Ukraine (haha, not even speaking about the war raging in our country now) takes $230 for shipping and then taxes (calculated from price+shipping), $799+230=$1029+(20%VAT+10%ImportDuty)=$1337,70 as a final price plus shipping. US and UK are really a choice of living for a Home Theater Enthusiast :)

Yeah this is a great value for a dedicated home theater, but not something I would put in a living room. The 10 is still pretty great though, and two of them wouldn't be all that intrusive.
@@FOH3663 Well thankfully the RSL performs far better than others of the same size, due to the extra long pathway of the vent and cab design.

In the back of my mind I'm always wondering how much of a difference on results a different mic would make. Haven't heard anyone bring this up either.
As far as underrated subs go, why is it that Rythmik subs is so big in the underground/enthusiast scene but so few people that actually review their subs w/ measurements.
I tested one about 10 years ago. I would not be opposed to testing another one.
I'm not 100% but I think they don't send them out to reviewers so reviewers need to purchase or borrow in order to review.
@@ErinsAudioCorner I’d also love to see you try their entry level model, the Rythmik L12!
Thanks Erin allays appreciate the time you take to dig into the technical and why speakers do what they do :)
Soooooooo happy that you did this review yes I saw the others but yours is important also
Erin, regarding boundary compensation, I've used an old NHT 1259 DIY sealed box sub dropping off at around 30Hz, in two homes.
This was an extremely informative review/video!! For the RSL but all the other info also!! Well done and thank you!!! 🎉
Glad it was helpful!
This is definitely something I'll consider when I want to upgrade my sub.
Great review Erin! I would love to see the tone winner D4000 reviewed and compared to this RSL which is a great sub. I'd also love to see the tone winner D6000 reviewed as well. I don't believe many have reviewed either except for spec of tech so far
That's my brand. 2 MKii 10s right at ear level left and right. AMAZING, best I've heard regardless of money.
yo at ear level? can you elaborate a little about your experience with placement and your room size/shape? im curious cause i kinda wanna try that...i was thinking of maybe doing two 10s's vs one 12s.
@@Superman54 The guy who designed the 12S said he'd take one 12S over 2 10S's any day.
Thank you. In your opinion, would this sub do well in a 2500 cf living room with an opening to the kitchen area? Appreciate your analysis.
Long shot but have you checked out tonewinner subs?
I haven’t.
Would love your take on subwoofer sq, "texture", group delay etc. What makes a subwoofer good, other than spl and frequency response.
Can you review the Polk HTS 12s
I can’t wait until RSL start venturing into the 15 inchers in size
I remember they only had the 10inch and they did a masterful job when they got into making 12 inch subwoof so I can’t wait to see what they do once they decide to start making 15 inch sizes
I wanna reiterate how much of a beast you are, Erin. You are changing lives with the information you put out. Thanks!
So were you able to accomplish your goal? What were the results?
You may want to try raising them off the floor 6 to 12 inches. Also make sure the sub isn't cutting in at too high a frequency and/or the volume level of the sub simply set too loud.
another great review Erin ..
I was thinking it would be nice (?) if you could get data on a 10s and do a comparison. The 12s is a bit big. It would be nice to check out the tradeoffs
with the 10s mk2, since there appears to be a revised version.
James Larson at Audioholics measured both!
Typically it’s inductance. The group delay doesn’t indicate any additional filtering above 100Hz.
Fantastic rant, preach brother!
Erin, Do you plan to review RSL CG3M and CG23M?
When you go down an octave you need factor 10 the power, live you could say highs 10w, mids then 100w, low mid bass 1000w, Subbass then 10,000watts (open air, free field non array bass), basically the deeper you go the power output goes exponentially up, and when you really want linear down to 20Hz then you have to start moving lots of air
Great review as always. What are the distortion levels at the different spl and frequencies?
On my website, which is linked in the description, I provide the distortion at max SPL.
Thanks!@@ErinsAudioCorner
If the size of the 12S is an issue I would strongly consider the RSL 10S as a viable alternative. It won’t the same performance as the 12S but it will hold its own, and the possibility of using 2 10s’ isn’t out of the picture. I actually have one of the original 10s subs in my 24x13x8 living room I have no need for a second sub.
I have two of the original 10s subs in a slightly larger living room and probably will never need anything more. Excellent subs!
Could you even hear the port at those levels?

Hi Erin thank you for the video! Could you please do a video on sub equalization for a 2 channel setup?
For the love of god I cannot integrate a sub nicely in 2 channel system. I am running into an issue where 30hz and lower frequencies are just not time aligned with my mains. My mains are the revel ultima floor standing speakers, so they get pretty low, but it feels like my sub is always trailing behind the mains. Pulling sub forward 1 feet helps but it’s not ideal. I am thinking about getting a Mini Dsp flex and a umik2 to help with integration, but if you can do a video on this topic I would greatly appreciate it.
i agree, but maybe not many uses dsp so he is following the common gear people have and makes videos about that.
the big point of dsp is time delay for main speakers, so you do not have to move the subwoofer closer to time align it.
if you get a dsp like the flex you get access to so much more also, powerful tool :)
but then you do not need or want active subwoofer, tose have their own dsp and delay, some can bypass it.
if you are interested i can write down some methods for subwoofer, and you do not need mic or any software, just an online tone generator.
Audioholics and Ripewave have vids on the topic. It sounds like you are on the right path.
It would be cool if you could get your hands on one of those big tall tekton subs. The multiple drivers and tall height i would imagine that would produce a more even response, compared to a single driver on the floor
Maybe but also more 'room bounce' from the higher drivers.
It would also require reviewing a Tekton product, which is probably never going to happen again.
Is Erin planning to review the rsl 10e?
Not currently.
Would love to see how the xtz 12.7 edge for example compares to this or 12.10 edge to other 10" subs.😊 Good jon tho keep it up!
Can you test a mid level Rythmik sub? Interested on your take of servo subs.
Can you make a list of best subwoofers under 300$?
does a powered sub under 300 even exist? id say w that tight of a budget your best bet is to diy one. i have a 12s and im not impressed with it at all. ive been trying to figure out if it has an issue w rsl support. if theres no issues w it ill be returning it for sure and building my own. your definition of good bass compared to a reviewer could be totally opposite. this thing is supposed to slam and shake everything. well it doesnt, my little jbl soundbar w a 12" bluetooth sub hits just the same. which leads me to believe theres an issue. i feel the jbl more than i do the rsl. so far like i said not impressed. if it ends up not having an issue man stay away if you like bass and diy.
What are your thoughts on sealed subs for a living room home theater? Ive read a lot of opinions that say that ported is preferred for lower extension, but something like the SB3000 has a good amount of output for the size.
I don’t understand the slow or fast “subjective” terms. A frequency always travels at the same speed so how on earth dan it be slow or fast?
regarding boundary setting: does room gain in LF mean an increase of a specific area say 40hz or does it mean the 40 reaches lower say to 30hz (while against a wall)?
Great review thanks! When you tested the subwoofer, was it with your Klippel device?
It was outdoors. Quicker for subwoofer testing that way.

The crossover is generally around 80-110hz in order for the SW not to be located. This is generally regulated on the back of the subwoofer (for those who do not use DSP). Is the low frequency response influenced by the crossover frequency to the speaker?
80hz or under to avoid localizing it.

How would a sub sound in the center of the room. Such as directly in front of you and centered between speakers. Such as a coffee table or foot stool location.
It would depend on the size of the room. You can model it to some degree with different programs.
@@ErinsAudioCorner I will buy some small furniture sliders to help move subwoofer around room on my carpeted floor.
Take a sub from twenty years ago against a sub today. The bigges difference is how low the new ones play. Theyve always been loud. Most important thing ina sub may be spl but the biggest advancements are in infrasonic ability imo.
SPL @ frequency is what I’m talking about.

Too kind.
@@everydayaudiophile i don’t have any room treatment at the moment. Will look into that.
Thanks for all your great reviews and best regards, Christian.“
👍👍👍 for your efforts, Erin!
Thanks!
I'll check it out!
Extended deep clean punchy bass at high SPL is what you want in a good sub.
Why is it that so many reviewers will say yes this sounds good for whatever speaker they are talking about… but rarely will say, “but this other model would be better for the money…” or
“ this model is better than the other for the money, because…”
So many reviews are done in a vacuum as if nothing else exists.
I haven’t used Systune in about four or five years at least. Same thing with SMAART.
i wish RSL was available in Europe.

im not impressed with mine at all. ive been trying to see if i have an issue w support. its not putting out anywhere near like other people say it does. which im almost thinking their opinion aka review is horrible. i fully expected it to shake everything and i really expected to feel it. my room is 15x18 w 9' ceilings. i can barely feel it at all for one. i also think its pretty weak tbh. i have a jbl soundbar w a 12" bluetooth sub that hits the same and i can actually feel it more in my chest. therefore it cant be the so called room which is just silly.
Sounds like something is messed up somewhere. These subs put out a lot of SPL.
