The NBA, MLB, NFL all call their tournament winners world champions. Japan won the world baseball classic yet MLB still calls the World Series winner, world champions. It's not just the NBA.
Olympic gold medal winner is the real world champion. I totally agree with him. So what if the MLS call themselves the world champion? People would lmao even though there are international players play in the MLS. Don’t forget, USA nba players did lose in the Olympic.
Olympic gold medal winners are Olympic champions. Not World champions even though the Olympics are an international competition. I've heard this argument from other people from USA. You see, there are separate certified world championships held regularly, that are indeed that: World Championships. Olympics are held every 4 years, but it differs with World championships. The FIBA basketball World Cup is every 4 years and same goes for the FIFA Football World Cup. World athletics championships are held every 2 years.
Olympics and world championship events are separate hence separate titles. Olympic gold medalists and World championship gold medalists are different titles. The latter has the title World champion, the former could be considered the best but not necessarily an official World champion.
@@eoghaininfacundodiarmuidthey wheren't always separate... The first standalone track and field athletics World Championship took place in Helsinki/Finnland in 1983 ... Before that Olympic Champions where in fact considered World champions

NO, the NBA champions (the Denver Nuggets for this year 2023) should represent the US in the FIBA championships and win it for them to have the right to call themselves as world champions.
Please explain how he was proven right? Because USA lost? 😂. I respect that perspective. It’s semantics though. Noah plays a different sport with different dynamics. These tournaments are how he makes his bread essentially. So is FIBA bigger than Olympics?
@@catlyman4it's not about bigger, but the competition itself. A world Championship produces a world champion, an Olympics produces an Olympic champion (which is an international competition as well) and a national championship (like the NBA) produces a national champion. And all these are regardless of who plays in the competition and how strong the competition is.
In short: The NBA is the strongest domestic league in the world and the team that wins it can confidently call themselves the strongest club team in the world. But both the World Championship and the Olympic Championship are played out between NATIONAL teams and not clubs as in virtually any other team sport. this means the current NBA champ and so best club team in the world are the Denver Nuggets, the current World Champion that was just determined last Sunday are the German national team and the current Olympic champion are the US national team around e.g. KD that won the corresponding 2020 tournament in Tokyo.
No, the Nuggets would be the best club team in the world if it competed in lets say a small tournament with the champions of other domestic leagues around the world. Who knows, maybe Alba Berlin of Germany which is a good Euroleague team could beat the Nuggets, like Germany beat team USA in WC. It has happened before in exhibition games

Serbia was also missing 5-6 of their best players, Jokic, Micic, Lucic, Nedovic and Kalinic and yet they got to the Finals and took home the silver. Pretty much most teams were missing some of their best players. So that wasn't just a US thing.
Noah Lyles is a Legend! He destroys the typical bold Yankee selfillusion of being in every thing a 'World Champion'. Do you think they can keep their swag in front of Serbian ultras? Or they will cry because the arena is not suitable for them because it is too loud?
Greg Papavish coach said the same thing back 2010/2011 season .... Gregg Popovich once shared his thoughts on NBA teams calling themselves world champions. The Spurs coach disagreed with the tag!
They started billing and advertizing the NBA chapionship series as the World championship series back in the day (1950) when there were literally no other basketball leagues in the world worth mentioning. Then they transitioned into simply calling it the NBA Finals in TV ads since then, but have kept the tag "World Champions."
the current USA TEAM was just put together few months ago. they don't deserve the hate they are getting. give them few more months for chemistry building and let's see what happens...
The thing is, will they actually let them build up chemistry or will they bring a totally different squad for the Olympics next year? Because every other country in the world has more or less the same players in every international competition. The same team that plays in the World Cup also plays in the EuroBasket or other continental Championship and then also plays in the Olympics. USA brings different players to each competition and that isn't a good way to build up chemistry.

Agreed Agreed..we currently have the FIBA world cup and the Rugby World Cup going on and whoever comes out on top are true world champions in their respective sport... but the NBA nahh...and then there's the MLB and its "world" series which imo should be called the MLB Finals Series..the winning sides there arent world champs...they should start calling them national champions. . I mean Australia is a good example of them recognizing their extent..the domestic rugby league tournament there is called the National Rugby League NRL..and is considered the most premier Rugby league competition in the world. BUT its seasonal winners are never called world champions..they are either labelled as premiership winners or national champs. Its really not that hard mann lol

He is not right . NBA Champions club world championship and wining the NBA is the greatest achievement in the world of basketball because you have to compete with the best players and teams in the world
If they are the best, they still have to prove it and represent the US in the FIBA championships and win it. Until they do this, then they have no right to be called world cahmpions. This year, I didn't see the 2023 champion Denver Nuggets represent the US and win the FIBA World cup, thus they are not world champions. You do know that what Noah Lyles is saying is that NBA champions can't be the world champions as they don't participate in the Olympics or FIBA championships?
if the nba want to call them selfes world champions than the nba needs to send a team to the world championships and win it. as long as the uas is sendin not the top players and not winning the worldchampionship tournaments they simply did not earn the right to call them selfs world champions.
They have the opportunity to represent USA in FIBA basketball World Cup and yet they turned it down, thinking that NBA and local games are much more important. That is just as unpatriotic as it gets. There is no bigger honour in this world other than donning the national shirt and representing the country in international competitions. They have no right to call themselves patriotic when they refused to wear national shirt nor representing their country in international tournaments.
It's not different from reality actually. There's not another basketball team in the rest of the world who can beat an average NBA team. But it would be fun to make a world champions tournament too.
Well, I'm not sure I agree with that statement. There are teams in European basketball that are comprised of some of the best players from around the world. Just like football teams like Man City etc. have players from around the world.
It is not the whole NBA that is being called as world champions, it is the NBA champions that americans claim as the world champions. That concept does not exist in world of basketball. The American team go on a world tour to exhibition matches but not world championship challenges. NBA and other American sporting bodies must refrain from using that misleading term (World champion) when in actuality it is only a national title.
If an NBA team can call itself worldchampion, then with the same right Chinas tabletennis players can call themselves worldchampions without playing international. Because they win everything ....but the most important points are not mentioned here, it is all about money, the billionaires who own the nba teams make the rules, they want to expand, do not want a public competition but a privat one . Fiba is official, international, NBA ist privat and national , thats all ..... the same system we can find in the finance world, few big players rule the world, overcome national interests and of course interests of their people.
If you want to be a world champion, you have to win the world championship. If you win a gold medal at the Olympic Games, you are a gold medallist.
Especially not losing to Germany! Noah Lyles was & is Right! 🤣 #BackLashForWhat
Noah Lyles is a reigning World Champion. USA Men's basketball were just eliminated by Germany in world basketball championship
And yet he gets famous by knocking the NBA...

True but I’m only using the example here. They also had a similar controversy when KFC Barstool tried to downplay the WBC Classic. International Tournaments mean a lot for these players
Because who watches base-ball ? Outside of japan and the usa i mean
Because .in baseball there is a world baseball classic
@SailorthePiperman One time, my father said America is the country of illusions. "Why does the MLB call it World Series" when it's based in America?"
I told him that basketball and baseball are international sports.
To be fair, I think an NBA player said we make more money and "we deserve it" 😂. So he clapped back, but after winning his titles.
The European football champ league doesn't have the delusion to say they are the football world champ😂
At least some one with common sense, by the way NBA champions are not world champions, there's huge difference.
Y’all are dumb ash, who the fuvk is better than the US in basketball. Plus the NBA is a private association “ correct “ let take on how the best player ( no matter the nationality) play where? THE NBA
Lyles is 100% right
If NBA was like a FIFA Club World Cup it would have been better
Exactly 👍🏾
then it would have to be a small tournament in neutral ground at the end of regular season of each national district. So maybe a few american team clubs would participate at the end, lets say 3 or 4
The NBA, MLB, NFL all call their tournament winners world champions.
There is no other NBA on this planet, so they rightfully call themselves NBA World Champion. And we have the Bundesliga Worldchampion here in Germany. But we would never call it that, because we are no idiots. Ah. And also we are actual real basketball world champions btw
The Americans don’t even have the best team in North America 😂😂😂Lyles isn’t wrong
Why is everyone calling Noah Lyles just a sprinter, he is a "World Champion Sprinter."
Especially when the US basketball national team lost the bronzemedalgame against Canada!
And Germany is World champion 🏆 🏆😂😂😂
NBA scrubs. They sent the JV team.
The NBA champion and the European Champion should play best of 5 every year the Super Cup to show who is the best team of the world. Like in football/soccer....
They should play according to the World/ FIBA rules.
This will show the world if the NBA is really the strongest league.....
That will not happen, because the billionaires of the NBA dont want any competitor in their system , otherwise they would loose much money . They make their own rules not international Fiba rules and if they loose to other countries they say we are not adopted to the Fiba system. So why did they change the international rules , because they want to have an exclusive way to play basketball, and to sell it to the whole world , overcoming the interests of all nations in the world. If an NBA team can call itself worldchampion, then with the same right Chinas tabletennis players can call themselves worldchampions without playing international. Because a chinese champion wins everything ....but the most important points are not mentioned here, it is all about money, the billionaires who own the nba teams make the rules, they want to expand, do not want a public competition but a privat one . And who pays for the back and forth over the Atlantic Ocean?
NO, the NBA champions (the Denver Nuggets for this year 2023) should represent the US in the FIBA championships and win it for them to have the right to call themselves as world champions.
Noah Lyles was proven twice within a week
Saw many videos that are started in "That is our team b, c, d, etc. But there ain't no LeBron, KD, Steph, Book, etc., we are still the best in the world, and NBA is bigger than any other league"
There ain't no "First of all, congrats to the Germany for advancing to the finals of FIBAWC", they literally starting with an excuse.
Serbia was also missing 5-6 of their best players, Jokic, Micic, Lucic, Nedovic and Kalinic and yet they got to the Finals and took home the silver. Pretty much most teams were missing some of their best players. So that wasn't just a US thing.

Noah is RIGHT!

USA brings different players to each competition and that isn't a good way to build up chemistry.

if they wanna be world champions, they have to send their best players. why they didnt do that? why labron didnt play? and why he now talkd about to play the olimpic tournament to get revenge? was his ego to big for the worldcup tournament? and if he wins the gold medal at the olympian games, he will not be world champion! different tournament!

In the same way, you can't force people to acknowledge logic.
I get the argument. Logically, it’s not wrong but it doesn’t make sense either. There’s better logic behind why NBA produces “World Champions” every season. Anybody who will argue hard against that is just not that intelligent or are somehow seeking their own validation.
Its really not that hard mann lol

if the nba want to call them selfes world champions than the nba needs to send a team to the world championships and win it.
as long as the uas is sendin not the top players and not winning the worldchampionship tournaments they simply did not earn the right to call them selfs world champions.

Real Madrid of Spain or Cssca Moscow has beaten NBA champions in the past in exhibition game
It is not the whole NBA that is being called as world champions, it is the NBA champions that americans claim as the world champions.
