    Thanks for sharing, beautiful shots!! I love the forest all around the town+hotel zone 💜...yet so many hotels. I was there 20yrs ago and looooved it, camped on the beach, but not sure I if it will be too busy for me now. I saw you went to Puerto Viejo, CR too. If you had to choose, which place did you enjoy more? I like that Puerto Viejo is beside the beach, I love being in the town, not hotel zone, but love rainforest + beach together, that’s what makes Mayan Riviera and Costa Rica so amazing. Jungle+nature+beach 💜 thanks for all you share 🙏

  • @davidlockertlie
    @davidlockertlie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I live in Tulum and I would say you have captured the place very well. One thing you probably should know is that the area that you thought would be full of hotels in 10 years is a national park so they will not be allowed to construct large hotels in that zone. Furthermore, even in the green areas near the beach where there are no hotels and which is not zoned as a national park, there are extremely rigid restrictions for building. For example, close to the ocean you can only build on a small percentage of the land, leaving most of the land and nature untouched. The main reason why is to keep the Mangroves which are instrumental in keeping the beach intact. If you ever come back, shoot me message and I will give you some local gems that are a bit less touristy.. ;-)

    • @williamtaudien
      @williamtaudien  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's good that they can't build. hopefully it stays untouched but for the right amount of money I'm sure they'll let people build lol.

    Another fantastic video William. Tulum has it all; nice hotels, chill vibe, great food, history, and some of the best beaches anywhere. I agree with what you said, it’s going to develop in the coming years with more hotels, hopefully they’re small boutique hotels like they currently are. At least that way it retains its charm.

    • @williamtaudien
      @williamtaudien  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that's what i LIked about Tulum. That all the hotels are still small. Hopefully it will remain that way and not turn into what Cancun is now with really big hotels covering all the areas and the nature is gone. Thanks for watching!

    Great video!! just something interesting to highlight, in MÉXICO, I mean, the whole country, there are no private beaches, according to the law and as set on the Mexican constitution the seashore is federal land and nobody can ban access to the beach to ANYBODY ANYWHERE in the country, if somebody does so, they can either be fined or their land can be confiscated, stronger laws have come into place in order to avoid abuse from landlords.

    Hellloooo, nice video!! Short, sweet and detailed. I've been looking now for a about 2 weeks for a hotel, preferably a bungalow to stay in Tulum in early October, any recommendations? Please and thanks in advance.

      I live in Yucatan. Some people risk going to public places now. Personally, I think it is too early to ride buses or go where others might get too close or not wear masks, Yucatan has a very high rate of COVID infections. We are still in the first wave.

    Where are you from? Netherlands? Norway? Looks amazing. I'm living in Jalisco and thinking about taking a trip that way soon. Went to Cancun once a million years ago on a cruise and I can't get that beautiful water out of my mind! ✌❤🌮

    I was in Tulum in 1996. There were only a few huts on the beach and 2 restaurants back then. Very low key and very nice. I hope they never build big hotels there.
