  • In this episode, I discuss the Flextail Gear Light Repel device. Flextail gear is coming out with this mosquito repellant device in January, 2023. You can now put in your order for the device. Using repellant strips, this device works well to get rid of mosquitos while backpacking. #mosquito #bug #bugs

    I usually do not have a big problem with mosquitoes. My main issues are gnats that commit suicide in my eyes and the black flies that sting my head sucking the sweat/salt out of my buff. If this thing protects from those two things I might consider it for sure. Happy Hiking

    Seems like a great little tool and looks like it uses the same repellant as the Thermacell. The need to carry the battery pack seems to reduce the "lightweight" factor but hey, if you are carrying it anyway might as well keep the bugs away as well.

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I usually have a battery pack anyway…the only downside is that it will be draining your battery packs…but, for only for a limited time. Crow✌️

    I find that very interesting,I live down in the Black Swamp area of NC and wonder how it would do against Croatan skeeters and yellow flies? I have had good luck with my thermocell and diy bug dope made of essential oil’s. Good video I will look into this I like that it runs on juice not gas .

    This is a great first concept for a portable device that works similar to a thermacell. I currently during mosquito season pack a thermacell. My only concern is having to carry extra power to power this device to keep me mosquito free. I hope in the future that they put an onboard battery in the device so you can just pre-charge it at home, and then just be able to use it on trail whenever you need it, still a very cool idea that has a lot of potential. Thanks for sharing man. Good video as always! 👍👍 CP

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Chris! Yeah, that is definitely a downside. Most of us carry a power bank anyway, BUT, I don’t want to have to drain my power bank on another device. However, it does work very well. If there are a lot of mosquitoes…might be worth the power bank drain…😂😂😂✌️

    Interesting device Crow! It's a bummer it doesn't have its own power source. How much juice does it take for the 8 hr camp mode? When I went out on a trip with Huck he brought his thermacell that attached to his isopro can, that was cool too.

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that is a good idea with the thermacell. It really doesn’t take up much juice. I used it several times over the last few months, on the bank porch and a campsite. It dorks drain my power bank bad at all, because it doesn’t require much to operate. I will use it when I know it is going to be an issue. Appreciate ya! Hope all is well. Crow✌️

      Yeah, I simply looked at the device and used it in a place with a few mosquitoes. I did the review before I went to Wyoming, where there were swarms of mosquitoes. If I had to do it over again, I would have done the review out there. This is just a hobby for me. I don't take myself as seriously as some of these people with their comments. • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking the same thing. I is usually carry a battery bank anyway. So, it isn’t really extra weight. But, we are draining that power bank…of power. So, it is a trade off. Great comment! ✌️

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. I wish it had an internal battery. The up side is, I have found myself using it with my battery bank. The downside of that is…it can drain your battery bank. But, I have carried it several times, when I knew there were going to be bad mosquitos and it worked well. My thought was…I’m carrying the power bank anyway. Thanks for watching it. Crow✌️
