    Hi I just found your channel so I have not seen other videos of yours but I like this one. One thing you did not mention as a POSSIBLE benefit is that most airlines do not allow you to travel with the butane in your luggage. So the Light repel model being electric is the only option of the two IF you need to fly for your vacation/ camping trip. Thermacell does have a product that is electric only but it is more expensive. Personally I would choose the thermacel because it is easier to carry multiple butane cartridges and pads than try to recharge a battery pack on the trail.

      Hi Karl and welcome to the channel, glad you found it 🙂
      That’s a good thing off course, to be able to bring on an airline 👍🏻 otherwise I have to agree to first and foremost use the Thermacell due to the simplicity of just adding a butane bottle and a couple of pads rather than multiple power banks or having to recharge it. 👍🏻
      I hope you find more content on the channel that you like🙂

    Tack för jämförelsen, kände inte till Light Repel. Alltid intressant med alternativ.

    I hate midges and mosquitoes (so much so that even watching a video about them makes me start itching) and I've been pondering over getting a Thermacell since first seeing them mentioned in vlogs a few months ago. However, I don't like the idea of burning gas so, having seen this, I'm almost certain that I will go with Light Repel. Also, 90% of the time I would be using it in or near my camper so I would not need to use the powerbank in the van I and could quickly recharge it if we used it sitting outside or on a trek.
    Thank you for alerting me to this product.

    Are the pads the same dimension and interchangeable between both products? wondering if I can buy the thermacell mats to be used in the light repel

    • @roberthammenrudh
      @roberthammenrudh ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, they are not! Different pads… the Light Repel uses smaller and thinner pads. They are available at their website or on Amazon.

    How about the thermacell backpacker since many of us have butane for our stoves too and it works with the same canisters

    • @roberthammenrudh
      @roberthammenrudh ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea that’s also a choice, only negative is you can’t cook and use the Thermacell at the same time and can’t use it while hiking (but who does that anyways 🤷🏼‍♂️)
      For me also a negative is I bring only a small canister and that one lasts for like 5 days of cooking…if I also bring a Thermacell backpacker I need one size bigger = more weight!
      Otherwise, a great product 🙂

      @pontuzz560 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@roberthammenrudh Ahh makes sense, I'm probably gonna get one for my 2-3 day hikes tho. My canisters last several trips as is and it seems the amount of used butane for a few hours at the fire and maybe some in the morning will be pretty neglible.
      I really can't justify the price of those small butane refill canisters in contrast to the price of regular canisters for camping stoves

    Thermacell backpacker och en 100 grams gasol burk , funkar dock endast när man satt upp tältet.

    • @roberthammenrudh
      @roberthammenrudh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ja det är ett alternativ men som jag valt att inte använda just för att den inte går att använda medan man går. Sedan kör jag oftast bara en 100 grams gas för allt, dvs den går åt till matlagning.

      @@roberthammenrudh Hej, först ska jag säga att jag aldrig använt Thermacell eller Light repell. Tänkte på Thermacell backpacker kan man väl använda närsomhelst, gissar att det bara är att skruva på gasoltuben? Sedan kan man väl ta med med 230 g behållare som man använder både till mat och myggbekämpning (eller 2 100g). Alternativt ta med ett dedikerat batteri för Light repell om man föredrar det.

      @@ingemarodeblad6892 ja det är klart man kan, men är lite försiktig med att lägga i för mycket vikt i ryggsäcken. Så därav helst ingen Thermacell eller Light Repel, men behövs det så är dom toppen att ha.
      Backpacker edition går givetvis att bära på också, dock inte riktigt lika smidig som en med carbinhake eller hölster eller som går att sätta i sidofickan.

    Butane is so much more expensive than just recharging it at home for next time nothing.

    the machines themselves are nothing special, the break-through was the mats; now they can multiply the number and style and tech of the delivery systems as much as they want, whatever rocks one`s boat really

    • @roberthammenrudh
      @roberthammenrudh 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s absolutely true, a lot of ways to create enough heat for the active ingredient to be released 👍🏻 there’s a small difference though in the ingredients from the many manufacturers, some worse then others so if anything one can be a bit selective when it comes to the mats.

      @@roberthammenrudh yup, so far all I used are Thermocells and frankly the scent is not the greatest thing I wanna sniff while out hiking in the woods; I`ll try the generic Chai-neze ones (green/blue stripes) as well as the Nitecore ones; I already have like 4 systems but I like the format of the Repel with its integrated hook and dualside delivery; out here we have a month+ worth of mosquitos/black flies/deer flies AT THE SAME TIME....I take my devices very seriously :) Happy New Year \o/
