      And not to bring an old comment thread to life again, but when Marta and Harlan are talking in the room after playing go, he states that ransome treats life like a performance to the point that it seems he may not even be able to tell the difference between a stage prop and a real knife. Hence the final scene where ransome attempts to stab Marta through the chest but the knife is indeed a prop dagger. Brilliant stuff.

Which is covering the labels of the medicine vials he is about to ask Marta to choose between once Ransom arrives to prove she gave the right meds to Harlan. Just amazing attention to detail.

    Can we just appreciate that thoughout this whole movie, you see the knives mantle piece from various angles- when Benoit interviews the family members, they sit in front of/to the side of the piece but the view of the mantle piece is always from a certain side or skewed from view, never straight-on and in it's entirety, like the various different views of this case. But in this scene, we see the piece straight-on for the first time, with Benoit's head filling the hole in the middle as he's about to crack the case...a doughnut hole.

The mystery of Harlan’s suicide has a solution at first: Marta. But the Marta story is imperfect. And the solution to Marta’s story is : Ransom.

    Craig's speech is absurd and hilarious, but it's the balance of seriousness and absurdity that makes this movie so good. After his donut speech, he then explains it to the police: the piece that is supposed to fill in the first donut (Marta accidentally killed Thrombey) still has a hole in it (why was Blanc hired?). That 1 question seemed answered, but creates a whole other hole if Blanc was hired to specifically expose Marta and reverse the will. If that's the case, this means the payer already knew Marta would inherit everything, AND they needed to get the money back FROM Marta, which they only knew was even possible if they ALREADY KNEW a crime had been committed. Something another commenter pointed out was how Blanc is taping the bottles in this scene right before he proves Marta knew what the correct bottle would look like. What goes unstated by Blanc is that he had ANOTHER hole he needed to fill: the bottles look different enough that any nurse that has administered that drug over the course of years would notice if something seemed visually off, which Marta is able to do unprovoked a few minutes later. He must have noticed that difference, and simply could not fathom that Marta would have still given Thrombey the wrong medicine (I think THAT hole was created when it came to the taxology report, because it showed that Thrombey didn't die because of the medicine).

      Learning lines is sort of the bare minimum expected of an actor, unless you're on live TV with an extremely tight schedule

    • @triggerhappysrt
      @triggerhappysrt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      lmao so, he did what an actor is supposed to do? memorize their lines? that being said, he obviously is amazing and fantastic in this film, but you pointing that out is literally the bare minimum

    • @FightingTorque411
      @FightingTorque411 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Two years later, but I think what OP meant is that Craig learnt the lines *word for word* . In a lot of movies the directors are more hands-off; they don't mind actors going slightly off the exact script as long as the general gist of the line is delivered. The impressive part, in this case, would be Craig delivering a performance that *appears* to be his character fumbling for an analogy, but it is precisely timed and intonated as scripted.
