    Gotta say: I loved the foreshadowing for this scene. Remember how Harlan said in the beginning of the movie that Ransom wouldn’t know the difference between a prop knife and a real one?

      I literally just realized that besides that bit of foreshadowing. We also got the juxtaposition between him and Marta. Because Ransom couldn't tell the difference between a lethal knife and a prop knife. But Marta could tell the difference even without reading the labels, which was the correct medicine and which was the morphine!

    This scene is so satisfying because everything came full circle. Ransom's true nature, Marta's vomit syndrome, and the offhanded comment of Harland earlier in the film that Ransom couldn't tell a prop knife from a real one.

    Clever foreshadowing in this movie which is why I love it. Harlan's words to Marta earlier in the movie, "He can't tell a real knife from a prop." Things like this are why the movie is so good. Because of things like how all the Thrombeys have different flashbacks to what happened at the party (for example who was with Harlan when he got his cake, if Ransom touched his grandmother lovingly when he left the party), how Ransom's true nature was foreshadowed (despite leaving the party when they reviewed the cameras earlier in the movie we never see his car leaving on the cameras) and how none of the Thrombeys knew which country Marta was from with all of them giving different answers which foreshadowed how untrustworthy they are. None of this is explicitly pointed out in the movie, they are all things you notice if you look closely. I love the movie because of this. It doesn't lampshade things like these but they are wonderful details that make the movie so dang good because if you look hard you will notice the clever foreshadowing and implications the movie has.

      I dont know of this is foreshadowing but I also noticed that the letter that Marta received that Ransome planted was slightly curled at the seal. To think Harlan Thrombey actually predicted this: his whole family plays life as if it were a game to the point they can't tell what's real or not; no one more so then Ransom because it's him who grabs the fake knife instead of the real one. It's no wonder Harlan left his house to Marta. She actually deserves it.

The mug she uses was Harlan's mug that has "my house, my rules, my coffee" words written all over it and Harlan's family staring at her with those faces that they have makes me laugh so much until now just thinking about it. Ana de Armas was so good in this film to the point where I hope that she gets a prominent role in the sequel, ideally as perhaps the Dr. Watson to Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc. She's left in an interesting situation by the end of the film - the formerly impoverished immigrant who is now suddenly a millionaire and got that way by demonstrating some masterful deductive and tactical skills throughout the film. And she had brilliant on-screen chemistry with Daniel Craig.

    • @definitelynottommywiseau3037

      what's exciting about the sequel is that only daniel craig returns, investigating a new mystery in a new location and a new cast.

    • @soubhagyanayak3098
      @soubhagyanayak3098 4 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      I don't think she showed brilliant deductive and tactical skills.
      She could think quick on her feet. The last minute lying about Fran to induce Ransom to confess was brilliant. She thought fast to cover up clues which could incriminate her. Wiping out the tapes, walking over her own footprints to cover them. All were done pretty quick. On the spot.
      She has quick thinking. But she didn't show any inclination to sleuth work.
      I am looking forward to a new cast. This genre is good for that.
      However, your idea could be fun.
      Watson wasn't that brilliant either. I loved Ana De Armas here. And it was fun watching her and Daniel Craig. Its not like she needs to work anymore. She owns a fortune now.
      Keep the house. Invest the money in some safe assets so that you don't feel the need of money and don't throw it away in risky ventures.
      And give the publishing house to someone else to run on your behalf. She would suck as a business head/honcho. Can you imagine running a business when you can't lie even once? Give it to someone like Lucius Fox. The guy runs Wayne Enterprises for Bruce Wayne who doesn't have to worry about business while punching Joker.
      I don't think it fits the character of Marta as established in the movie. But it could be fun.
      I don't think this is ever gonna happen. She wouldn't even make a cameo if it won't fit.

    So, he's already got at least 3 charges against him:
    -Conspiracy to frame Marta for Harlan's murder
    -Arson on the medical lab
    -Murdering Fran
    I'm guessing he's just thinking he has nothing left to lose, hence why he tries to kill Marta. Because while I may not know anything about wills, pretty sure him killing her would NOT make everything go back to his family. Even if Marta herself doesn't have a will, everything would likely go to her next of kin, i.e. her mother and sister.

    When everything is revealed you start remembering small, almost trivial things people say, and that's what makes this rewatchable imo. Even if you know who did it, the ride up to that point is still fun when you catch new things.

    It makes me so mad that the mansion is in my hometown Natick, Massachusetts, and most of the movie was filmed there as well, yet they don't mention it once in the entire movie.

    • @sachemofboston3649
      @sachemofboston3649 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I found this out recently, I figured it was in Massachusetts since the architecture looked very 1800s Massachusetts, and they did mention it was near Boston. Natick needs more recognition, has a lot of history important to Boston and the United States in general, although they probably wouldn't pronounce it correctly 🤣

      As an aspiring actor with Cerebral Palsy from Massachusetts, I'm very disappointed that movies like Knives Out, The Equalizer 2, and Black Mass were filmed in Massachusetts and yet we can't get more acting classes and talent agencies to open up here like in Atlanta, Georgia. It's very expensive to live in Los Angeles, California.

    He never cared about her- he was trying to frame her for murder because of a Will statement that she had nothing to do with, so how can he act like “we welcomed you in and you’re trying to take it from us”

    • @lolajaramillo4620
      @lolajaramillo4620 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Ransom's ego made him think that Marta was purposely trying to be so sweet and helpful all along, JUST so she could get into the will. He can't fathom even a little bit after he and the rest of his family lost everything, and maybe because of his own awful nature, that Marta could just be a good natured person, and that's what made her the best one to receive everything.
