    This moment really sunk in for me because I think I felt what Marta was feeling at that moment. If she had--somehow, impossibly--known, nothing would have happened.

      To be fair, she wanted to call an ambulance and hope he could hold out. He insisted on the dramatic suicide option. Yes, to protect her, but also because he wanted to go out kicking the hornet's nest.

      @@MythicFox agree, such a dramatic person Harlan is.

    • @EnterJustice
      @EnterJustice ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Marta's confusion about having given the incorrect medication, was due to Ransom purposefully switching the liquids between the vials. Hence Ransom is responsible for the confusion. Additionally, as MythicFox says, she suggested calling an ambulance until convinced otherwise by the theatrical, charming Harlan. At most Marta was negligent for not thoroughly checking the labeling on the vials, which would probably have led her to conclude something was wrong as the properties of the fluids did not match her expectations for them given the labels.

    Interesting note: Ransom and Harlan were competitive at Go and of the children Ransom was the only one who could beat him. It shows how he was similar to Harlan, hence why he was able to come up with a scheme like this. Marta is even better than both of them at Go because she's "not playing to beat him just to make a beautiful pattern" hence, she beats Ransom by being a good and honest person.

And if I could choose a new title for the new film adaption, I'd go with *_Ten Little Pawns_* -- so as to avoid the racial stereotype tropes; plus it'd explored how the victims are "pawns" in a mystery game. At least that's how I'd do it. *;D*

    I love that Harlan was by-and-large a good man who just happened to get success. He seemed to be the kind of man who recognized the hard work others do in their routine, since he himself became wealthy instead of being born into it. His motivations for the will change wasn’t malicious, it was because he was tired of his family leeching off of him even though he knew they all could’ve done great work without his help. His friendship with Marta felt genuine and sweet, making it contrast from the other Thrombey’s who don’t really care about anyone except themselves

    If there's any lawyer reading this comment, does Harlan's death can be ruled as homicide as it was Martha's wrong assumption that led Harlan to commit suicide? I mean Martha did give Harlan the correct medication but she mistook her action as a deadly mistake and led Harlan to take his own life to protect her.
    This question is not meant to paint Martha in a bad light. I am just curious if this justification can be used in court and If Martha still in danger of losing the inheritance.

    • @failedGraphics
      @failedGraphics 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      She tried to call for help and Harlan used FORCE to stop her. It is 100% not her fault. If anything Randsons action would be the ones that lead to the suicide as he is the one who switched the meds. Martha did everything right and Harlan refused to listen to her. She even tried to go back right before Harlan killed himself.

    Blanc's goodwill for Marta i guess started from the point when he sees where harlans dogs were so kind to her. Juxtapose to where the dogs didn't let the killer in second time when they attempted to come back. So it's a full circle for Blanc to have his faith on Marta rewarded/justified.

    • @dulcimerrafi
      @dulcimerrafi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@zee3e I agree with that theory. I think that just as Marta intuitively knew which medication was which, Harlan knew too. I believe that the real reason that Harlan didn't want Marta to call the ambulance was because he knew that if she had, she would learn that someone had tried to frame her for his death, which would then cause her to learn why someone would want to frame her in the first place. Harlan wouldn't have wanted that to happen because I think that he wished to keep Marta's inheritance a secret. I believe that he also knew the truth because, as a mystery writer, he would have been smart enough to know that if Marta had indeed accidentally poisoned him, a toxicology report would prove that. Therefore, he wouldn't have helped Marta to establish an alibi if he didn't know that she would be exonerated in the end.
