Heyy happy Tuesday ✨🫶 hope you’re all having a great week! Have you got a heatwave where you are?! We’re keeping cool up here, no heatwave for us, yet at least😎 lots of love and stay safe 💕
6:29 yay to the construction vlog bit! Doing a great job job at documenting Rail Baltica construction, on par with the official/railfan channels out there XD
That's so crazy. I love van life videos, so I stumbled across yours one day. In fact I am from Latvia, so seeing something so forgein such as van life in my homeland is so odd. Because Latvia is so small I know every single place so well, so it's quite weird seeing others calling "Sigulda" a "near by town" and Riga a "big city":) But the video is great, I loved it!
Riga looks a really interesting place. That food market reminds me of the one housed in the Diocletian's Palace in Split, Croatia (a must see if your route takes you that way) 😊
Love Thomas & Isabelle. Thomas just gave his seat to someone in need, on the bus. What a gentleman. Its not the places they are traveling, rather the nice persons they are. Every once in a while I discover something about Thomas or Isabelle, that touches me. I watch them from a far, but they feel so close to me. They make a glorious couple. They complement one another. I take an example from Thomas & Isabelle , to better myself.
Riga and Sigulda. 2 places i would recomend to visit in Latvia. The 3rd thing would be night life, and people in Riga. Very good "alternative" scene. There is some interesting comunities and events, check out "Free Riga" for example. Dunno how active they still are though. But there was a time, you as a foreigner could even get a free place to stay for some time, with a house full of artists and individuals as a company...
Hi! I started following you guys because I was homesick and wanted to see new and updated videos from Estonia 🇪🇪 (living in the USA) and now I have binged all of them! I tell My kids it’s like watching a nature show 😎
I love Riga and thought that I explored it quite well.. you guys outdid me in one short day! You saw many things that I missed, and Tom had such interesting comments. Thanks for sharing!
Riga is awesome! This was another slightly whirlwind city tour, there was so much to see. Looking back I wish we had given ourselves even longer to explore it.
Fun fact about the demolition scene. They were tearing down this ill-fated shopping mall from late nineties called Titanic. And when they started, they played My Heart Will Go On. 😄

We were in Riga about a month ago (with our Transit based motorhome BTW) and liked it a lot! We stayed at Riga City Camping which was okay and so near to the old town that Bolt taxi costed less than 4 euros. The interior of house of the Blackheads was stunning!

From 1915 to 1917, the Latvian Riflemen fought in the Russian army against the Germans in positions along the Daugava river. In 1916 Latvian battalions were transformed into regiments as conscription started among the local population. The most Latvia was fighting and lost against Germany, if not Russia Latvia would be now Germany, so sick and tired of demonised Soviet Union.Myself as Russian person, who born in Latvia, under Soviet Union was given chance for Latvian and Russian language, always celebrated Latvian tradition and Russian, as soon Latvia get separated Russian people was cut of language of identity etc. No one talk about it...How sad that whole world just against Russia. I remember how hard it was for me as a student just cancel my roots my background, everything. And this present moment in life in Latvia, if you say in Russian Good morning or Hi, they will curse you .Sad sad times. I've been there and we back again. Just political games.
"Cut of language of identity" BS. Latvian language became the official language of Latvia but there is noone stopping you from using Russian when talking to others who speak it, is there? Also, tell me more about how you had to cancel your roots... Gosh I'll pull out popcorn... My dad's siblings who were displaced to Siberia and died there are probably also laughing their asses off (in heavens) at your understanding of what cancelled roots mean.
@@LostInTransit Cool. Just neck a few vodka - my father used to get a bottle of blue Smirnoff - not much else was available in UK at the time. Pour out the vodka till the neck is empty. Obviously drink that later! To the vodka, add a huge slug of honey, some raspberry, or other berry syrup - not squash! Shake well, leave for a few weeks, turning every so often, then drink. Superb!
we couldn't really find any free parking in the city so i think this actually worked out cheaper, also i don't particularly enjoy driving the van into new cities and feel like the more rural park ups tend to be a bit safer, so would rather just catch a bus in
@@LostInTransit I know, in most places in West Europe it is the headache but Rīga. Sure centre is crowded and parking is not free, but within 10-15 minutes by tram to centre you can find quite a lot a free parking spaces and with no problem of safety. Anyway, good luck in your further travels.

Ps Monument of freedom was built before WW2 from latvian citizen donations.. Soviets in USSR time runned around busses and trolleybusses hoping that it will destroy it slowly by vibration.. to demolish in soviet time they are afraid because latvians could rise..
Hey! What's with dissing cyber criminals? They're people too!
No, you should not be drinking absinthe in Riga . Get a grip, man!
I was just referring to the art nouveau posters they used to advertise it 😄
@@LostInTransit Cool. Superb!
Nice video just one thing unclear. Why did you go by bus to Rīga instead of simply going down by your van? Wasted time and money.
we couldn't really find any free parking in the city so i think this actually worked out cheaper, also i don't particularly enjoy driving the van into new cities and feel like the more rural park ups tend to be a bit safer, so would rather just catch a bus in
@@LostInTransit I know, in most places in West Europe it is the headache but Rīga. Sure centre is crowded and parking is not free, but within 10-15 minutes by tram to centre you can find quite a lot a free parking spaces and with no problem of safety. Latvia is twice the size of Belgium but barely two million population. So we still have plenty of space.😁 But I understand, being first time in strange place can be confusing. Anyway, good luck in your further travels.
