- Here is a true blessing.
This begins with fairly awesome TV DX reception out of CERTV analog channel 4, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
I also had ch 5 Telemicro out of the same city.
Over the last year I noticed that when these fade out, yet analog is still strong on channel 2, two digital TV stations kept trying to make it here on 4 and 5.
Lo and behold...something landed.
This might be the first known catch of digital TV out of Puerto Rico from the US mainland; I cannot say for sure. Both of these stations are very low power:
4 = WVDO-LD, Carolina*
5 = W05CY-D, Mayagüez PR (this is an edit-an email from Telecinco told me it was W05CY based on the channel roster
This was the morning of May 27, 2021 around 1300 UTC.
*I was told by a DXer that although “4” is authorized 3,000 watts, they are currently running only 1,000.
This was about 1-2 hours before the 98.6 and 92.6 on my TH-cam page.
A blessing indeed!

I just love that sound at 0:11 , reminds me of good old days of much long distance analog low VHF dxing.
Nice SpE ATV catches in the beginning :) Thanks for sharing 73!
Nice! When I first moved to Florida in the mid 80's, I got channel 2 from San Juan a couple times via E Skip. Never heard any FM E Skip from Puerto Rico, though as hard as I tried.
88.1 Inspira (WCRP) landed at this time, and so did what I assume was WTOK 102.5 with HOT 102 RDS. That was a good sign.
Well done with the DX reception. It looks like you are getting a good DX season there.
Thx. The 5 will no longer be seen here more than likely-a new low power 5 signed on locally in early June 2021.
77-1!?!
Neat.
Now send some free ions up our way!
No...it’ll cost you... 😉
Great videos! Please keep 'em coming.
Well it looks as if I now will no longer catch PR digital. It just so happens that now BOTH RF’s 4 AND 5 here are now occupied by Miami low power TV stations. 5 came on around June 1, and 4 in late July I think. 2, 3, and 6 are open for skip though.
@@christopherdunne7848 How do you know when to look for skip?
DXMaps dot com is a good indicator. Select the tabs “50 MHz,” your location (mine would be “N America”), and by all means UNCHECK “Digital” in the tab “Modes/Props”. Even so, some of my Latin America stuff had no indication at all on said website. :) BTW May to July, local 9 am to 9 pm in Northern Hemisphere are peak times (Nov to Jan in S Hemisphere)...but it can and has hapoened in every month.
Nice DTV DX.
Well done!
This is cool, I wonder why WVDO-LD was only showing test patterns?
No clue. I think that every channel they have was running just color bars, with no audio.
what tv is that
The tuner is the Insignia ATSC digital set top box, connected to a Broksonic analog 9 inch TV/VCR combination.
@@christopherdunne7848 cool
Oops-the set top box is connected to a Sharp VCR-THEN connected from thr VCR to the TV. The TV that I used for this TH-cam video is a Coby 7” hybrid NTSC/ATSC set to channel 3.
