    I really like these coaching videos a lot! Even though I don't draft too often, learning and improving on the fundamentals in limited are skills that translate to every format in the game. It's the reason I tune into BtM despite not drafting too often.
    Would love to see more coaching videos when you have the chance to do them Jim!

      It's to M:TG as swimming is to exercise. It teaches you EVERY part of the game. Card evaluation, format knowledge, combat, deckbuilding, sideboarding, resource management.
      Commander is fun, but it was never and should never be the only way you interact with the game. At lease if you're serious about improving.

    Jim, you are the only MTG streamer that I follow because I like the fact that you explain all your choices while you play and you try to teach something while being entertaining. But I really, really love this kind of videos where you teach somebody else. It's so much more formative

    Imo, from all the cards left after I would take the Bell first pick. Its not great, but its very solid. You can easily get manascrewed in two color deck - in fact if you are going for 7 wins it will likely to happen in at least one game, so some kind of fixing is important to have. You are happy to have it in your opening hand (unless you happen to have another one drop, which is unlikely). You are happy to draw it in the late game, because it redraws to one of you better cards .

      Same... many bad opening hands have been saved by a bell, always happy to sneak them in as filler

      @@shadowduck02 It just felt like you were looking to Jim to not make a mistake, which is fine, he's the teacher. But, it felt like a little much, like every decision you didn't want to make on your own. I think it would be better for you to just make a choice and go with it and let Jim correct you, as opposed to waiting for him to give you hints, and then making a choice. Let JIm tell us why you're decision is good, or not as good, that's the learning part. Don't get me wrong, i really liked the video because I learned a ton from it, probably more than any other "draft" video previous.

  • @BabyBull72
    @BabyBull72 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    One suggestion I might make is maybe if you were to do another video, to let him actually draft unaided and then possibly go back after and point out how it could have been better. I think the best way to learn is actually have a pile of cards, see how it’s bad and see what could have been done to make it better. Nothing motivates you to draft better than trying to pilot a clunky pile of cardboard! Overall definitely enjoy the content either way!

    • @shadowduck02
      @shadowduck02 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It is me in the video. I used what I learned and went 5-3 in my next draft. Which is huge for me. It was very helpful listening to Jim.

      @@shadowduck02 That's awesome! Glad to hear it! Yeah Bronze to Mythic is definitely a series I enjoy because there's lots of information to glean in terms of limited drafting strategies and play. It also helps me familiarize with the sets themselves as I often only get to run maybe 1 sealed event and 1 draft if I'm lucky. It will become more familiar and intuitive as you put in the reps, seeing how decisions you've make are either good or bad and grow from there.

    I strongly disagree with the decision to add both Squire and Bruiser. You ended up with seven 4+ drops which is way-way to much, especially for 16 lands. Instead, I would just pick either of them and add 17th land.

    Hi Jim! I saw you struggle in the last few BtM episodes. Do you plan to get coached again in the future, like you did during Strixhaven? I heard that Sam Black likes Esper in Bloomburrow draft... Does that archetype even exist??

    I know that EDH gets a bad rep with all the politics and the hidden social ques. I would recommend cEDH as the goals are more aligned with 1v1 and that winning is all that matters.

    • @kithkindeck
      @kithkindeck 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      cEDH is where bad legacy players go to get wins and you can't argue otherwise. EDH and multiplayer magic in general is incompatible with the ideals of competitive magic. EDH only works if no one is trying to break the format or if everyone is trying to break it, and even then it should never be the basis for a competitive event due to the ability for players to collude using the game's rules.

    • @DiscardatRandom
      @DiscardatRandom 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      cEDH is actually the least diverse "format" ever its all just thoracle breach piles. Just play real competitive magic where your wins aren't dictated by your opponents

  • @kithkindeck

    Bot drafting is so weird.
    Would've picked moonrise cleric p3 to hedge (polliwallop is a gold card in my experience, this gives you an offramp into bats and is serviceable in WG), otherwise agree mostly with the picks.
    But yeah, this is a prime example of why BLB drafting kind of sucks. It's VERY hard to remain open and sometimes it feels like you have zero agency. Rabbits open? Trophy. Rabbits not open? Well we can't pivot because our rabbit cards don't like the bat cards we're seeing. Blue is always open, blue always sucks outside of frogs. Non-abzan color pairs feel like you're throwing. Blergh.
    Duskmourn looks a lot more promising.

    • @crazykillerpanda101
      @crazykillerpanda101 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ehhh big cap honestly, bloomburrow is less on rails than people think. What rank are you? I recommend watching the Luis Scott Vargas + Marshall bloomburrow farewell pod. Their feelings echoed mine astonishingly closely. Basically their take is that the format is good and there’s room for more than most people realize.
      Also whallop is definitely the right pick, and not gold, cleric is underwhelming unless you get a stacked bat deck. There are a lot of green frogs that function in green white (stickytongue sentinel, the 1 mana grower that they got this vid, treeguard duo).
      Edit: here’s the podcast I mentioned, if you look in the comments too you see a ton of people espousing the thoughts I left above th-cam.com/video/2TOh-okDLcI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=oJOD27a3faqeXNh0

      @@crazykillerpanda101 LSV is allowed his opinion, and so are you. I usually get to mid-high diamond, then give up the grind because work prevents me from drafting a million times a month. Hit D5 in 32 drafts from S2 this month, but I had several days off due to an injury. Probably won't draft DSK until october :(
      Used to grind MODO a ton and had an infinite account before I sold my tix. No top 8s, several day 2s and money finishes at GPs back in the day. I am by no means a pro, but I'm better than the average limited player.
