Thanks for the hard work on this you guys. Big fan of your back and forth and i appreciate your insights/evaluations. Im so excoted for the room UR room deck. I love slow, grindy control, and im praying that its good enough here in duskmourn 😭😭
Ah okay. I didn’t realize that you were saving rates for a different video lol. My bad for asking about it in the previous video. Abhorrent Occulus is my favorite artwork of the set as well as my favorite creature spell of the set so I was looking forward to hearing what you thought of it.
You could flip something that is already manifested on five with Huantwood. Flipping Manifested cards is a way to cheat the big black stuff onto the board as well
Peer Past the Veil does not work against the aggressive theme of RG - it complements it. Its the aggressive decks that want a low curve and to empty their hand quickly - having something like this that can gas back up very quickly after you've done that is great.
Sort of, but usually you want your 4 mana play in aggro decks to either be a finisher (like an overrun/mass pump effect), or be a big impact on the board. Even though you refuel your hand, you're taking your foot off the pedal, which can let the control player restabilise (that being said, if it draws you like 3-4 cards then I think that you're pretty happy still to take a turn off)
im surprised so low on restricted office in red/white it sounds like it has some good potential to be a one sided wipe for anything that could be profitably blocking your creatures
Enduring Tenacity feels like a C- to me just based on the fact that its two eerie triggers with some potential upside. a BW deck curving the 3/3 for 2W that Eeries for Lifelink into this seems great, and then later you can follow up with an Emerge from the Cocoon to nug them for 3 more. That feels quite solid, even if this is much worse than most of the others in the cycle.
Now that you have seen the green overlord and the other cards like the green land that sometimes dual land for white do you think it’s possible to play the white overlord in a golgori deck with the legendary scarecrow that buffs insects/spiders?
I think you guys are too high on Dollmaker's shop - it's best case is amazing, but if you're on the draw and your opponent is curving out, it might be difficult to fit this into your curve and also get profitable attacks in, considering this is not a creature itself. Porcelain Gallery is also a very powerful effect, but not in situations where you are losing. If you're under pressure and have had to do some chump blocks, or if your opponent has removed a lot of your creatures, paying 6 mana to turn your creatures into 3/3s or 4/4s (and making you vulnerable to huge blow-outs in combat vs. instant speed removal) does not seem great to me. I think for something to be an A or A+, it needs to be amazing in most game situations, including when you're behind. This card is practically a blank when you're behind, so I think it's more of a B+/A-.
Zimone is a B? Aren’t you potentially getting 4/4 of stats across two bodies turn 3? Seems like a must kill that leaves behind a decent body. Potentially a terrible top deck, but seems like a house in early/mid game.
in what universe is rip a C-? Hearing your grades sometimes u guys forget that ppl don't always have removal. If the card triggers once it can potentially draw two of the best spells in your deck. Not even getting started on if it has any of the strong aura effects that give stat boosts, ward, first strike etc. You play this, next turn play the 1 mana 2+2 flying combat trick and unless they have instant speed removal u most likely just win the game
I agree with you. It's at least a "B" in any decent WG deck. It's great with combat tricks and instant speed removal. Easily could be a must-kill "B+" level card if you have enough survival enables to further support Rip.
Agreed, it's a massive payoff for what GW wants to be doing anyway. C- seems low, especially when you compare it to other cards that merited a C grade.
It feels like you're imaging best cast scenario for you and worst case for your opponents. Significant amount of the time your opponents won't have removal but will just have a 2/2 and a 3/3 and some open mana, and your best case scenario is foiled. You aren't casting the jump at sorc speed into open mana, and attacking a 4/4 into a 3/3 and a 2/2 when they have mana is also asking to be blown out.
a good % of the time Rip is just going to be a Hill Giant, which is pretty bad in modern limited sets. It is awkward to cast for having a low floor and an ok ceiling. Seems like a C ish card to me.
2:26:25 I’m surprised you guys gave maddening hex an F so quickly, despite not effecting the board it can represent a really fast clock on your opponent. Like I wouldn’t go higher than a c- but you will lose to this card once in the format, probably

Yesss Marc is back in witness protection dark silhouette mode😂

Restricted office is almost just a mono white card where you ignore the blue side

Reluctant Role Model + Patched Plaything, put the -1/-1 counters on enemy creatures will be a fun blow out lol

Right that’s why it’s a B! Great early (but not busted) but balanced by being quite medium late
Algo
ghost vaccuam is a horrible draw late game. Basically isn't a card until you use the 6 mana mode
i know black is not the best color of the set, but i think it deserves its own chapter instead of being blue part II ;p

@@hintofinsanity Rip isn’t a hill giant, she’s a 4/4 for 4
