I always kind of enjoyed the portrayal of Anakin freaking out and becoming ecstatic about having kids. It makes a certain amount of sense, really; he was deeply attached to his mother and to Padme, and it was always kind of shown that what Anakin really craved beyond all else were family bonds. The thought of him being overjoyed to finally have a family of his very own just kind of figures.
You can tell if you watch Return of the Jedi closely. "It's too late for me son". Vader wanted Luke to kill him and then kill the emperor. The emperor is a megalomaniac who thinks he's one with the dark side so he thinks luke killing him would be ultimate victory.

Rey being a descendant of Palpatine makes no sense, but unless his descendants were incestuous, she didn’t only descend from Palpatine. She could have descended from both Kenobi and Palpatine. It’s a little far fetched, but still possible. Also, I heard Korkie was supposed to be Obi Wan’s kid, but George Lucas said no because Obi Wan was supposed to be the perfect representation of a Jedi and having a secret child went against his character.
