    The great thing about RC cars is that you never get tired of driving them.
    Because they are always broken and you are waiting for new parts.

      I have a Frankenstein RC car, way too much power to control (6s). I can't ever give it full throttle because as soon as i do it will do a backflip and if I get any speed with it and try to do a turn it just starts doing cartwheels while being launched into the air tripping over it's own front wheels. super fun and all but always broken hahaha. I usually put it in gimp mode to slow it way down. Full throttle also blows up the tyres if it's not on the ground. Thats after upgrading ALL the powertrain components to metal and some even steel. The drive shafts and axles have to be steel the plastic and aluminum just get twisted into pretzels.

    • @Wormweed
      @Wormweed 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@OtakuSanel Sounds like it's too small and light for that kind of power! Tried adding some lead weights or something to it? Plastic drivetrain parts are absolute garbage, wears out instantly.

    • @OtakuSanel
      @OtakuSanel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Wormweed I dunno I got a 5000mAH 6s battery right in the middle of it which is a big chunker and oversized wheels but it's still too much power. I had a wheelie bar on it before but that got ripped to shreds lol. it would try to flip over but hit the wheelie bar at which point all wheels went airborne and then it went all over the place since the wheeliebar doesn't really go straight. It's stupid fun though but yea always breaks. Right now my shocks are trashed (all aluminum too) so need to get a refurb kit for those

    I used to have one of these..you can change the springs on the shifting arms.. stiffer spring= later shift.. then you could have second hit at around 40% throttle and 3rd hit at 70-80%. That will give you better usable gear ratio and better throttle feel instead of it basically going straight to 3rd and pulling high gear the whole time. Also will keep your motor cooler. Can't wait to see final results! Sweet build!

    Great idea! I've always wondered why 2/3 speeds are not available for normal electric cars and posted it on several groups. The only answer I got is that you can switch out electric motors for faster ones but using a 2/3 speed on your existing motor saves investing in more expensive motors/esc etc. Also I like the switching sound it makes :-)

    JQ: Those standard tyres will last precisely 10 seconds. They’ll probably turn into pizza cutters and blow at high speed. Definitely recommend foam tyres, even if you need to get small ones and glue them onto large wheels. These might do the trick but Kyosho / Ofna 1/8 scale wheels tend to be quite large: www.ebay.com/itm/RC-4Pcs-Light-Foam-Tires-Nylon-Wheel-17mm-Hex-Set-For-HSP-1-8-Scale-Racing-Car/372401741806?hash=item56b4df9fee:g:wMUAAOSwFLBaWCy5 You’ll need to turn them down and the hexes will probably be the wrong size too, but foam has FAR less rotational inertia and a high speed blowout causes a LOT of damage! You might also consider GRP or Sweep brand belted slicks. They tend not to balloon. th-cam.com/video/fI5o78CqIyw/w-d-xo.html

    Great video, As a long time and now retired racer I would highly recommend you add support to the 2 post you have the tie rods connected to, if you watch your video you will see a lot of movement in the shaft and arm the servo drives and this can give you some very shaky steering. Waiting on part 2.
