    This was the most real video I've ever watched.

      @@handydadtv 🤣🤣....I have a question I want to do this but unfortunately I don't have open wall access like in this case, or do I have attic access. How can I run my wires without either of these scenarios?

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d make a hole at the top where you want the speaker, and at the bottom right above the baseboard. Then drop a small nut tied with fishing line and use a magnet to get it through the bottom hole. Hope there’s no insulation or fire block in the wall. Tie your speaker wire to the fishing line and pull it through. That’s the best you’re going to get.

      @@handydadtv ok thanks that's a great idea. What would the small nut be for?

    Since the wall in the adjacent room was exposed to the studs, wouldn’t it have been simpler to drill the hole for the wires on the wall level with where your equipment is to be mounted and run the left and right speaker wires up and through the studs to directly to the areas where you mount the speakers? Sorry about the run-on sentence... ;0)

    I've done stuff like this with network cables for cameras and access points all too often. Good work.

    Great informative video. Awesome work! The Vizio is more cost effective and economical. However, did you guys look into the SONOS systems? They are expensive, but they are wireless. I’ve been considering it.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a friend who has Sonos for home audio and loves it. But she doesn’t use it for TV audio.

    • @irl8796
      @irl8796 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forget all those wires. Sonos is the only way to go. They aren’t really that expensive either. I got the ones for $100 a piece, Sub for $600, and beam for $200 recently. $1000 for premium sound and none of the nonsense installation and costs that come with that even for diy.

    How did you first of all run the wires from the tv to the speakers? Also if you put two wires through the joist yet two into the boom box .where did the wires come from for the little speakers?

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The subwoofer is wireless. The little rear speakers are connected to the subwoofer. We just needed to hide those wires.

    Seems way to high relative to your ears while on the couch. Could have just punched through the drywall at a lower position and run the wires out that way I guess.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, but they sound great and are less obtrusive.

    Never really showed where in relation to your seating area these “left and right rear speakers” are. Are they both off to one side of your couch and tv?

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are on the wall opposite from the TV. The speakers face the TV.

    Could’ve just ran all the wires in the unfinished area instead of hiding them in the crown moulding.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The right speaker has a finished bathroom behind it. That’s why I had to leverage the crown molding.

    If you were going to do all that work you should just installed a proper 5.1 sound system.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is 5.1.

    • @TheCdM1981

      @@handydadtv it’s a sound bar with rear speakers. I understand that’s a “5.1” but there aren’t 3 separate front channels, unless I saw wrong, and the rears are too small for that size room I would guess.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TheCdM1981 I know it’s not the best, but it still sounds awesome. It’s the best room in the house to watch a movie.

    Love how the thumbnail is “installer exposes tips and tricks” like this is supposed to be some Area 51 secret. Thank god for the internet exposing the gatekeepers. That’s what the thumbnail should read “installer exposes the gatekeepers”. I will NEVER pay someone to just do the work ever again. If I hire you, you better be willing to answer questions and teach. Not come in, do the job, and collect a paycheck. I’ll dispute the bill if someone refuses to let me ask them questions. Can’t believe I was stupid enough to pay some contractors that didn’t even tell me they were done. Just left. Had a roof project. Contract knocks on the door early to tell me they are starting. Literally only time I saw them. Just left after being done. This is bullshit
