I'm looking to get a 2023, so I've been on TH-cam just looking as much information that I can, but I would like to say your the most entertaining car review person, when I do get it I will take your advice, I will always have a 12 inch sub stored in the side pocket, then I'll keep a nice brownie on the dash so the sun can keep it warm for my sweets after the sub, and I might just see if I can fit a coffee maker in the center large cup holder to keep me going, then I might just see if a full size soccer ball will fit in the arm rest storage, if not a smaller size soccer ball just so I can keep in shape after all the goodies. Thank you for the review.

I love the outside looks. It reminds me of the Audi Q8. I really like the virtual cockpit on some of the new VW’s (not the new Passat). VW and Mercedes Benz make the best leatherette, however, I find the sport seats more comfortable on VW’s compared to their standard seats (like on the video). I used to have a VW, and the one thing I miss the most about it, is the Climatronic HVAC. It’s also used in Bentleys (with nicer touches, of course). The panoramic sunroof is ample and it doesn’t make the headliner complicated. I just hate how they haven’t even tried hard on the faux exhaust. That’s a big zonk for me too. The hard plastics inside the new VW’s feel very cheap, especially on the rear passenger doors. My VW emblems kept peeling off very easily, so it’s a great idea that they embedded it with the silver trim on the exterior.

Don't get me wrong, the Atlas Cross Sport is a great vehicle, but the Grand Cherokee is still RWD-based, offers an optional V8 (and even the GC's standard V6 has more power than the Atlas's optional V6), and the Grand Cherokee offers air suspension and advanced off-road controls that make it a true "Off-Roader" vs. the Atlas. I'm a Grand Cherokee owner, but like both, but without that bias, I'd still pick the Grand Cherokee.

you are correct... the jeep is the audi q8 version of the atlas cross in a sense(powertrain/suspension/awd..) Price - the jeep goes all the way to $70+k. Depending on what you care for.... dictates the value. My wife drives this cross, she likes the looks better doesn't care for offroad, it was cheaper compared to jeep(same options) and extended warranty 10yrs/150k bumper to bumper(jeep has 7yrs max)...made more sense for us

I spent a couple months reviewing different midsized SUV's. What sold me in the end was the crash tests. Hard to justify putting your life behind the wheel of a vehicle where the passenger door just abut comes off and the dummy almost falls out. So, I choose the 2019 VW Atlas SEL P.
Now, to be fair, I do own a 09 Liberty. I've owned a 04 (leased) and 02, which I sold when I got the VW. But my 09 is not your cookie cutter KK. It's got 33inch tires, 3 inch lift, full skids, customer front steel bumper w/winch. Rocksliders and rails and a Class III hitch just to name a few items that makes it what it is. It's a Jeep, not a VW and my VW is not a Jeep. My Atlas is my 4th VW. My first VW was a 81 Jetta, then a 84 Jetta. 2013 Passat TDi now the Atlas. As much as I like my VW, when SHTF and I want to make sure I get through it, I'll take the Jeep. For trips and such, the VW. You will always find one brand can outshine another brand if you look.

I'm in the market for a midsized suv and am that individual that doesn't need a 3rd row. I just test drove this same model yesterday and agree with everything you said. Mine had the V6 I think that extra oomph made all the difference. I learned that the leather in the SEL is actually leatherette and the Premium has leather and ventilated seats. I also wish there was electric lowering seats with a button in the back, so there's my zonk. I can see why not to have manual releases or straps behind the seats as many would have a hard time reaching with the huge cargo space. I definitely preferred this over the Passport. That vehicle while great for off road, the inside felt dated to me and I don't really care for the gear selector in push button...I prefer the shifter. I have yet to test drive a Grand Cherokee. Would love and appreciate some recommendations though!😊
Side-note, I'm actually surprised with Kia releasing he Telluride as a 3 row that they didn't remove the 3rd from the Sorento. Guess they figure people can just leave the 3rd row down. I was contemplating getting a CX9 and doing this (still on my short list). With Mazda I wish they would hurry up with re-releasing the CX-7.

  •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

TFL clocked the VR6 engine at 8.4 0-60.My wife has the three-row full size with the VR6 and it sounds great but too slow for my taste. It has been a really good vehicle though and if you need more room than that, buy a van or a bus. I’d go with the 2.0 and get an APR stage one tune 🤪

What are your thoughts on the in-line 4 cylinder turbo over the lifetime of the car? I feel like because of the weight it will get exhausted over time

I think those empty space pockets and massive space in the engine compartment in this quite cool design screams “I wanna have me a V8.” Maybe a slightly more extreme version in the future going along with every other brands muscular SUV entries?? Those empty ports would be perfect for a couple nice polished exhaust tips. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

Super J ~ I'm number 61 oh yeah am I the greatest or what? everyone said - or what hahaha. VW > I'm digging the lines on this SUV, it's clean & sharp looking, the engine bay is kinda deep hahaha. liking the vivid back up cam & high res. dash. interior looks good & tight - too bad no vent. seats though. (sad face) holy crap the rear space is like a cave & I like the mat treatment they put on the floor of it. I concur > get it with the V6 & vent. seats & BAMM ya have success - the ergonomics seem great as well as fit & finish & ride quality. seems like an SUV that's easy to get good at driving - like you said it's intuitive. the V6 more than likely gives that torque response ya desire & lil more pick up off the line & probably just as nice to drive. GREAT REPORT - tony

This Cross Sport is a sleeper. If I had a ding on it, parts are expensive. It's a great lease vehicle but not for long term ownership.

I like the looks of this Cross Sport, but it needs about 300-320hp to truly be "sporty". How about VW perhaps dropping the previous Audi Q7's supercharged motor (perhaps slighty de-tuned) into this Cross Sport?

I've been waiting for this one to come out. I'm still looking for a comparable to my Grand Cherokee Overland. I'll have to haul hubs out to test drive this.
Any thoughts on the Bronco? He really wants me to get it but I'm still hesitant on the f word.

@@gl9500 lol oh Jeep has burned this 20 year bridge. Just waiting for the 2021 Bronco Sport and the Santa Fe. We've decided on the Bronco unless it rides rough. I'd love the Big bronco but it will be too tall for me to get in and out of.

It does compete against the Grand Cherokee but I see it more similar to the Passport or the Ford Edge. I do like the look of it, but Honda's reliable V6 and excellend AWD is just much better. But that's not to say that the interior of VW is not better. Like the nice and clean layout.

No. Read the reviews on the Atlas. There are numerous complaints regarding the reliability, lack of parts, and cost of repairs. Not that Jeep is anything great regarding reliability. I’ve owned a Jeep GC in the passed. Don’t get me wrong, I have a VW Passat so I’m not anti VW. But after reading reviews on the Atlas reliability it really turned me off. Not sure I’d trust either vehicle as being very reliable.
