    Hey Scott, would you recommend the Anleon S3 or the NUX B-7PSM? I like the simplicity of the NUX but I’m concerned that a few years down the road the rechargeable batteries might last. Thoughts? (BTW - thanks for Al the great videos!)

    Great video! I bought an S3 a few weeks ago from ebay. I get about 300’ range but I can only get a maximum -16db instead of -24db attenuation. Also, I’m getting intermittent RF static even when the range is close. I got a great deal ($300CAN all in) but I’m afraid I got an older version of the S3. Do you get AF static when there’s no signal or low signal?

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that’s the way wireless works in general. Normally their is a squelch setting on the higher end ones to combat that, which is really nice! That’s not included on this one

    • @darrylday30

      @@ScottUhlMusic Thanks, this is my first wireless and I don’t have anything to compare it to. BTW, mine came with earbuds. They’re barely usable but good for a spare. Mine DOES have -24db, I just didn’t hit the button enough times. I’ll keep a close eye on my levels to keep the signal clean. Thanks to you, I won’t be tripping over my wires. If I can get my stone age band mates on ears, I’ll be sure to have them use your link.

    Very cool system for 300 bucks! Wow.
    The videos are looking so clean lately too. The editing is on point. Great job!
    Did a gig a few days ago and had something happen that has never happened before with my sennheiser g3. Scanned the environment several times and had 0 "free" frequencies. I couldn't find a good channel and the interference was unbearable. Weird. That only ever happens in my bedroom. Every venue i play usually gets 10+ free frequencies.
    Cheers!

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! And yeah that happens for me sometimes too, I will adjust the squelch level higher until I find some channels. Other times, it’s just kind of guessing until I find the one with the least amount of RF. There is one place we play sort of near the airport that I usually have trouble finding a signal

    Galaxy Audio AS-950 is similar, true stereo, and supported by most commercial audio houses.
    Similar price, features.
    Built like commercial audio gear.

    Hey Scott, thanks for the review. Because your channel giving insight into a few wireless systems, especially the inexpensive ones sure clears the decision-making aspect. I have purchased a few products you have featured in past reviews for instruments (NUX C-5RC, Phenyx PTG-11, and Sennheiser Pro G4). My band uses older Sennheiser G3 for IEM and they work well, but having access to a channel like yours is definitely a working musician's asset. Thank you very much!

    Yay! I've been waiting for this video! Thanks Scoot, it looks like it suits my needs. Can I ask what's the biggest venue you have tried to use this? 😁 We're gonna have a big show in January and the floor area will be around 700-1000sqm for the venue. Do you think the S3 will still perform well in that setting? And also, did you have any sort of interference if the crowd is between the stage (receiver) and the transmitter?
    Thanks so much for your helpful reviews!! Stay awesome 🌞

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup I bet this would work great with that! Probably for a few hundred people, so it worked well. Wireless mostly depends on how much wireless signal is already there. And range can be effected if there is no line of sight from the antenna to the receiver, but that’s true for basically any wireless 👍

    thanks but S3 is just S2 with more channels, same shitty quality, microphonic effect in receiver and transmitter antenna, white noise level rises if you have ANY quiet signal and horrible expander effect. if you don't have a low shelf EQ at your aux out at 90 HZ, your kick will make EVERYTHING louder

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve gigged multiple times with the S3, and so have many of my band mates…. We don’t have that experience with it. Either you got a bad unit or you are very picky about your tone (nothing wrong with that). If you are picky about tone, why are you shopping in the budget isle? 🤷

However, I found a video of a guy building a couple simple cable adapters to get 2 mono signals with one S2 transmitter and It is as simple as just connecting both signals lines to Left or Right. Again, a great review, thanks Scott!
    In my opinion, a massive "plus" is, that the phones-out jack is properly mounted with a nut at the housing. Shure and Sennheiser do the same, but many of the chaep systems, and, as far as I know, unfortunately audio-technica also, use a jack-out, that is NOT mounted with a nut, but instead is only soldered directly to the pcb with the socket poking through a hole in the housing. This design is cheap, but it is a nightmare, regarding reliability. It often only needs one proper pull at the cable, and the soldered connection on the pcb breaks off or the soldering pads get completely ripped off of the pcb... This became even more of a problem, after lead-free solder became standard, as this solder is more brittle than lead-solder... In my workshop, within ALL units of modern electronic, broken off connectors, pots, switches etc. that were soldered directly onto the pcb are BY FAR the most common reason for failure.
    It would be very interesting to have a look inside some of those transmitters, to see the design. E.g. if the jack-sockets are mounted on a small extra pcb and then are wired with small cables, a design without a nut could be fine, otherwise, imho it is really very bad design. I would particularly be interested in the internal design of the ATW3255 transmitter, as I am really interested in buying this system for my own use, but it's the design of the output jack, that I have doubts about...

    In Europe, the dedicated signal band for IEM is 863-865 Mhz. How would you use multiple transmitters within this band width to avoid interference? You are not permitted, by law, to use anything for IEM past this given band width. In this case how would you make sure to use multiple devices without interference? If you look at it this way, is there still an advantage for the S3 over the S2?

      There can be many reasons for getting white noise. It’s likely some sort of interference near by. I hope you tried changing channels to see if that cleared it up. If all channels give the same results, it could be the area you are in. Try changing to a different area and see if it still happens (and change channels… always change channels if you need to). And if it still is doing that, it’s likely defective.
