A handy tip if you have a router in your rack is to use an app on your phone to turn off the 2.4 gig bandwidth coming out of your router and use ONLY the 5g from the router. This will keep things less congested.
I bought this system a couple years ago and love it. Used with backing tracks for a Blues Brothers tribute show. Tracks had a click and 30% track vocals going just to the in ears. Front of house was also mixed in. The tip on moving it away from the router is perfect - Really like your videos!
One thing to note is that there are 6 channels, but there are three frequencies within each channel so 18 different frequency options. Still not a lot compared to higher end systems but good. Only issue I had was if I found interference mid song, I had to wait until not busy to change channels. Plus you need the transmitter where you or a sound tech can reach it in order to switch both at same time. I use a Shure GLXD16 guitar system over 2.4ghz and it works flawlessly in all kinds of places. I press one button on that unit right before soundcheck and it scans for all the best frequencies then sets those and will auto switch if issues. Xvive is great but things like that are differences I found amid pricier options. I sing and play guitar so I needed something that took care of interference automatically since I have both IEM and wireless guitar. But Xvive is an awesome unit and when in the right environment, it is crystal clear!
Thanks for the review, good job! I decided to buy one of these a couple of days ago. So far, so good. Out of the box everything works fine and is very "user friendly". I also have an Xvive U3 wireless mic so was already somewhat familiar with the product. The one thing that would be nice would be a more precise LED battery status system. When charging, the LED goes out when you are up to 30% charge. Then you have to guess when it is charged the rest of the way up to 100%. Coming back down, there is no way of knowing how much charge is remaining until you get back down to 30% when the light comes back on. No big deal, I still like it anyway!

I found it has pretty good anti-interference although being on crowded 2.4ghz, comparing against my shure glxd and boss wl-50. Playing with them separately in the same room with wifi and other smart devices all over the place, I face issues less on this comparing to the wireless systems mentioned above. The only downside I have is the accumulated latency. My current late night practice set up is plugin within rme babyface pro fs with a 5.8ghz dongle and the U4. My plugin and babyface has rtl about 3.4ms, dongle is about 6ms, u4 is about 5ms, so my total latency is between 14 and 15ms. I can feel the latency while playing. If I replace the dongle with cable or replace the u4 with wired headphones, I no longer feel the latency. This is a bit annoying but still quite manageable. It is just like when you're playing and listening through those onstage monitors and stand far enough. Looking forward to future products that hopefully could reduce the cumulated latency to sub 10ms, :)
Yeah I do think this one does actually a good job avoiding interference. Like I mentioned in the video my singers GLX by Shure was cutting out but this one wasnt 🤘
I managed to convince My band to get a full set of these and your review really helped me to be able do that so thanks @ScottUhl i do have one request though, can you please do an updated version of the band click track in ear monitor setup? i know you've got the xvive now. show us that setup in full please if you dont mind. I basically want to use these in an easy plug and play type setup for all our gigs, so maybe you can run down having it all plugged in and ready to go in a 'rack inspired' hardcase possibly? that's sort of the vision i have for the setup i'm putting together for our band.
Just fyi; the more of these that you use at once, the more likely you will get drop outs. I wouldn’t use 4-5 of these all at once… unless you are doing that where you have one transmitter sending the same mix to 4-5 musicians. That’s ok. But these cheap ones are not meant for that. XVive U4...purchased it new...its 2.4gig.. whole band uses wireless IEM and wireless for instruments...vocals is also wireless...the QSC mixer is controlled by an iPad which is wireless...first connecting XVive to the rear of mixer, iPad could not connect...so turned off XVive let everything get connected the XVive worked but thru out the gig there were ...whole band "drop outs"...recently used the XVive but with an XLR cable placed near me...worked like a charm..no interference or drop outs...the XVive has a clean/clear sound i use Shure ear buds...

Thanks so much for such an informative review. I have this system and have used it at rehearsal, a bar gig and a show at House of Blues. I was getting many drop outs at the show tonight and I simply should have tried another channel. I feel stupid not realizing that could have made a huge difference. In my head I was thinking it was more of a signal issue yet the transmitter was just about 10 feet away. I will know what to try next time. Thanks again!

I'm lucky guitar center started selling them and I'm an employee so kind of bought a second set (T and R) so I could have 4 total receivers. Eventually I'll get into the 5Ghz but I'm normally solo or running fancy open mics.
Great starter ears rig. My gooder and goodest ears rigs live in a rack with a Presonus 32R mixer. I carry the U4 for when I do sub gigs, and for a spare/guest ears rig with my band. My only issue with it is that it's a 2.4G hog. It causes interference with my Boss wireless. The good news is that it doesn't cause issues with the Lekato wireless that you also reviewed/suggested. U4, Lekato, and my Valeton Dapper Bass is my quick&dirty sub gig rig.
That is definitely the one downside of it. If they release a 5.8ghz system it would be a no brainer for sure. Everything cheap has its pros and cons. I definitely still think it’s worth it for the price.
@@ScottUhlMusic The sorts of venues (and the PA systems in them) we play at are unlikely to have much of an interference issue- and it is a zero issue for studio with just the singer needing them.
Something to be aware of. Xvive U4 is quite strong against other 2.4 ghz products. Definitely it will bully the Shure GLXD and cause it to cut off., but will work well with UHF microphones.
I’ve had it work quite well with other UHF frequencies. But 2.4ghz overall is unpredictable. But I still like this unit for the portability and the price

You can use some sort of splitter to do that or just ask for only vocals in your ears 👍 if you have a wireless that’s even easier because there are often two outputs with those receivers

We are all in other bands and this could allow to be autonomous in each one. We are 6 members and we using Behringer XR18. Do you think the 6 XVive together could conflict among themselves? I mean for the 2.4 Ghz. Fyi with XR18 we use an external router and we normally connect it with 5.0 Ghz, however some of us are also using mixing station in our smartphones for individual monitoring control. Tks ciao
Definitely should NOT use 6 of these all at once. If it’s just 1-2 people on the xvive that’s fine, but once you start doing more you’re going to want to do more higher end wireless.
Great vid as always. Obviously VERY compact and convenient. But pricier than the inexpensive in-ear system you assembled with a guitar wireless dongle system. Ignoring size, how would you compare the two approaches? One advantage to the other approach that I can see is that you can swap in a UHF or a 5.8gHz dongle set if 2.4 is giving you trouble. But of course "size does matter".
Thanks, Steve. The sound quality is amazing on this. The main benefit of this is its portability and compactness of it. Like I mention in the video, instead of having to take my rack out this is super easy and plug and play. There are cheaper ones out there for sure. It depends on how compact you need it to be. I do wish it was in 5.8ghz or 900mhz for sure. If it was, it would be an absolute no-brainer. It's up to the viewer to decide if they want this one for portability and ease of use, or get one of the cheaper ones on 900mhz. I'm glad I have both personally :)
Hi, your reviews have been great for me while I start to look at wireless stuff for my gigs. Would I be able to plug this straight into my Helix and use it for monitoring just myself? Or would it always have to go through the desk.
How do they sound compared to the P2 with a inexpensive instrument wireless solution that you came up with? I dig that they are one piece, small and that there's multiple channels available. I also dig that you can get 1, 2, & 4 unit options. Like you, we have a nice Sennheiser system but it's not practical for smaller gigs. This would be a great option. And I agree on 2.4hz being problematic at times. My bass wireless is a Sure and I've had to swap to my $50 Ammoon backup twice now due to interference issues lol.
@@ScottUhlMusic Oh no! It would just be one player who has the XVive. Will the Mixing App work with it? We have Sennheiser system which is racked into our console and we have a router. We just got a new female singer who has the XVive U4. I think she can go into an AUX channel and go 2.4 while the rest of us are on 5.

Anyone had any issues with this I've had mine about a year was awesome but now the 2 units have no signal unless the units are touching. There's no issue with the battery as there's still a long battery life. Anyone else have this problem? Think I might get the anleon s3 if I cant get this sorted. Does this receiver work with the u3 transmitter? The idea is I use 1 u3 transmitter to 2 receivers to main speakers. I would like to have a foh main mix monitor.
These are different and that wouldn’t work. You’ll need one transmitter and one receiver for each wireless. Do be cautious using too much cheap wireless all at once 👍
It doesn't cut off.. it just interferes with the wifi connection to my laptop.. I solved it by using an xlr cable to keep it away from the router in my rack
Since this is mono, and not stereo, I assume that this wouldn't be good for running backing tracks if you need to run a click track or cues on one side and the actual backing track (instruments/vocals) on the other?
thanks for this video and the other one, adressing the 2.4ghz issues. theres one thing im still cofused with: in their manual they say in the frequency tables, for channel 1 for example: 2402,2480,2482hz. does that mean, it sends on all of these three freq´s or is it like a range which you showed as a graphic in the other video. would be nice if you could shed some light on it. thanks in advance, and keep up the good work! //edit: Answer for anyone interested: so according to xvive, every channel has three frequency points and will connect to the strongest signal on the according channel.
I’m curious too. It would make sense if it said 2478 2480 2482 because it would mean 2480 is the center frequency… but it’s weird that it jumps so high to the 2402 and too low to 2482, so I’m not sure

Can I output from my audio interface through the male S/PDIF side of the cable to the female XLR side of the cable connected to a male XLR Transmitter and have music output through S/PDIF the transmitter wirelessly to my IEM’s?

@@ScottUhlMusic I've had the Xvive U4 system and the 4 times that I used it (two in rehearsals and two playing live) it was dropping like crazy. A friend of mine who has it also, told me that I might have had conflicting with the Sure GLXD16 system and the digital consoles that were on the gigs (systems running on 2.4 GHz also) and that I had to work on all the systems to make it work, maybe. But now I have a Sennheiser EW-D, working on UHF, and well, I play in small-mid venues but most likely we'll have digital consoles from time to time, and maybe the guy running it does not have a wifi router conencted to it and works with it with the built-in router, which is not so good. Since we're doing a Canadian tour this summer and the name of the game is called "bring as compact and as less bagage as possible", maybe this would be a solution. If we get this instead of the Phenyx Pro PTM, any recommendations?
Yeah 2.4ghz is still the most unreliable frequency. Which is why I like the Phenyx ones more. The portability of xvive is the selling point. Keep the U4 away from the GLX for sure and that should help. But for going on tour I definitely recommend at least the phenyx pro ones. But even then the Shure or the Sennheiser ones will have more channels available so you can find a clear channel more often. Especially going from venue to venue.

I see that right now there's a G20: 488-512 MHz available. Do you have any videos explaining that? It’s just the frequency range it transmits in. 470-600mhz is the standard ones right now. So I have a sennheiser that is 512-560mhz and another one that is 470-512mhz and so on. The more range, the more channels it had to find a clear signal. Also, the Shure PSM 300 are great. But sennheiser did just release a new one that is $200 less and has the same number of channels as the Shure PSM 300 if it helps you save a little money 👍
I bought the product today and it arrived. I tried it on my focusrite sound card, but the sound has an annoying sizzle. Any ideas as to why? Otherwise I will have to return it.
This is much better than the lekato! Lekato has no way of changing channels, doesn’t have the mic line switch, is 3.5mm only. This one is absolutely better for a cheap one 👍
Just curious....i use a shure pgxd4 wireless microphone (48khz) and a line 6 g10 wireless for guitar (2.4 ghz)...both currently work extremely well together live withno cut outs...i play in a classic rock band with 5 members...I am trying to get the band to take the plunge into IEM and this product seems like a relatively good option due to low cost and portability....do you think 5 members (using 3 different mixes) could make this system work playing in generally smaller venues? Main concern is interference and cutouts...thoughts?

But if you used 3 of these with 1 g10 I think you are setting yourself up for problems. @5:42 Has anyone told you that you misquoted 5ms as 5 seconds? If someone cannot hear 5 seconds of latency, they must be deaf, lol. However, they are lying if they say they can hear 5ms of latency.
I usually chose Mono IEMs to be honest. But it's always your choice, and that's why I included in the video if you have to have stereo, then this system isn't for you.

I have one band that I play with where the female vocalist uses the 2nd mono one (using the trick I do in this video: th-cam.com/video/A7Drmjn6vsQ/w-d-xo.html), and then in the other band I could do it in stereo if I wanted to... but I just leave it in mono and it's fine to me personally!

My only issue with it is that it's a 2.4G hog. It causes interference with my Boss wireless. The good news is that it doesn't cause issues with the Lekato wireless that you also reviewed/suggested. U4, Lekato, and my Valeton Dapper Bass is my quick&dirty sub gig rig.

That is definitely the one downside of it. If they release a 5.8ghz system it would be a no brainer for sure. Everything cheap has its pros and cons. I definitely still think it’s worth it for the price.
@@ScottUhlMusic The sorts of venues (and the PA systems in them) we play at are unlikely to have much of an interference issue- and it is a zero issue for studio with just the singer needing them.

Something to be aware of. Xvive U4 is quite strong against other 2.4 ghz products. Definitely it will bully the Shure GLXD and cause it to cut off., but will work well with UHF microphones.
I’ve had it work quite well with other UHF frequencies. But 2.4ghz overall is unpredictable. But I still like this unit for the portability and the price

You can use some sort of splitter to do that or just ask for only vocals in your ears 👍 if you have a wireless that’s even easier because there are often two outputs with those receivers

Thank you for the review, very complete and concrete. One question. Me and my band mates are evaluating to equip ourselves with XVive. We are all in other bands and this could allow to be autonomous in each one. We are 6 members and we using Behringer XR18. Do you think the 6 XVive together could conflict among themselves? I mean for the 2.4 Ghz. Fyi with XR18 we use an external router and we normally connect it with 5.0 Ghz, however some of us are also using mixing station in our smartphones for individual monitoring control. Tks ciao

A good rule of thumb is: the more wireless you plan to use at once, the more higher end wireless you need to get. If it’s just 1-2 people on the xvive that’s fine, but once you start doing more you’re going to want to do more higher end wireless.
Great vid as always. Obviously VERY compact and convenient. But pricier than the inexpensive in-ear system you assembled with a guitar wireless dongle system. Ignoring size, how would you compare the two approaches? One advantage to the other approach that I can see is that you can swap in a UHF or a 5.8gHz dongle set if 2.4 is giving you trouble. But of course "size does matter".
Thanks, Steve. The sound quality is amazing on this. The main benefit of this is its portability and compactness of it. Like I mention in the video, instead of having to take my rack out this is super easy and plug and play. There are cheaper ones out there for sure. It depends on how compact you need it to be. I do wish it was in 5.8ghz or 900mhz for sure. If it was, it would be an absolute no-brainer. It's up to the viewer to decide if they want this one for portability and ease of use, or get one of the cheaper ones on 900mhz. I'm glad I have both personally :)

How do they sound compared to the P2 with a inexpensive instrument wireless solution that you came up with? I dig that they are one piece, small and that there's multiple channels available. I also dig that you can get 1, 2, & 4 unit options. Like you, we have a nice Sennheiser system but it's not practical for smaller gigs. This would be a great option. And I agree on 2.4hz being problematic at times. My bass wireless is a Sure and I've had to swap to my $50 Ammoon backup twice now due to interference issues lol.
The sound quality is definitely better than my IEM hack for sure. These are designed to be used for IEMs, so they are going to sound better for sure!

We just got a new female singer who has the XVive U4. I think she can go into an AUX channel and go 2.4 while the rest of us are on 5.

Anyone had any issues with this I've had mine about a year was awesome but now the 2 units have no signal unless the units are touching. There's no issue with the battery as there's still a long battery life. Anyone else have this problem? Think I might get the anleon s3 if I cant get this sorted.

Does this receiver work with the u3 transmitter? The idea is I use 1 u3 transmitter to 2 receivers to main speakers. I would like to have a foh main mix monitor.
These are different and that wouldn’t work. You’ll need one transmitter and one receiver for each wireless. Do be cautious using too much cheap wireless all at once 👍

It doesn't cut off.. it just interferes with the wifi connection to my laptop.. I solved it by using an xlr cable to keep it away from the router in my rack

Since this is mono, and not stereo, I assume that this wouldn't be good for running backing tracks if you need to run a click track or cues on one side and the actual backing track (instruments/vocals) on the other?
This is for in ear monitors… not wireless for backing tracks or other audio transmitting

does that mean, it sends on all of these three freq´s or is it like a range which you showed as a graphic in the other video.

I’m curious too. It would make sense if it said 2478 2480 2482 because it would mean 2480 is the center frequency… but it’s weird that it jumps so high to the 2402 and too low to 2482, so I’m not sure

Can I output from my audio interface through the male S/PDIF side of the cable to the female XLR side of the cable connected to a male XLR Transmitter and have music output through S/PDIF the transmitter wirelessly to my IEM’s?

For potability and compactness, the xvive wins. But as an overall IEM system, the phenyl pro iem systems win IMO
@@ScottUhlMusic I've had the Xvive U4 system and the 4 times that I used it (two in rehearsals and two playing live) it was dropping like crazy. A friend of mine who has it also, told me that I might have had conflicting with the Sure GLXD16 system and the digital consoles that were on the gigs (systems running on 2.4 GHz also) and that I had to work on all the systems to make it work, maybe.
But now I have a Sennheiser EW-D, working on UHF, and well, I play in small-mid venues but most likely we'll have digital consoles from time to time, and maybe the guy running it does not have a wifi router conencted to it and works with it with the built-in router, which is not so good.
Since we're doing a Canadian tour this summer and the name of the game is called "bring as compact and as less bagage as possible", maybe this would be a solution. If we get this instead of the Phenyx Pro PTM, any recommendations?
Yeah 2.4ghz is still the most unreliable frequency. Which is why I like the Phenyx ones more. The portability of xvive is the selling point. Keep the U4 away from the GLX for sure and that should help. But for going on tour I definitely recommend at least the phenyx pro ones. But even then the Shure or the Sennheiser ones will have more channels available so you can find a clear channel more often. Especially going from venue to venue.
@@ScottUhlMusic Understood and I could not agree more. I always say: "go as pro as your budget allows you" 😅 and if we go there, I think that the Shure PSM300 would be the one. I see that right now there's a G20: 488-512 MHz available. Do you have any videos explaining that? I know that I can look for it myself somewhere else but your simple way of explaining I can understand.
It’s just the frequency range it transmits in. 470-600mhz is the standard ones right now. So I have a sennheiser that is 512-560mhz and another one that is 470-512mhz and so on. The more range, the more channels it had to find a clear signal.
Also, the Shure PSM 300 are great. But sennheiser did just release a new one that is $200 less and has the same number of channels as the Shure PSM 300 if it helps you save a little money 👍

I bought the product today and it arrived. I tried it on my focusrite sound card, but the sound has an annoying sizzle. Any ideas as to why? Otherwise I will have to return it.
That could be many things. Try it on something else and see if it does the same thing. Process of elimination 👍

This is much better than the lekato! Lekato has no way of changing channels, doesn’t have the mic line switch, is 3.5mm only. This one is absolutely better for a cheap one 👍
Just curious....i use a shure pgxd4 wireless microphone (48khz) and a line 6 g10 wireless for guitar (2.4 ghz)...both currently work extremely well together live withno cut outs...i play in a classic rock band with 5 members...I am trying to get the band to take the plunge into IEM and this product seems like a relatively good option due to low cost and portability....do you think 5 members (using 3 different mixes) could make this system work playing in generally smaller venues? Main concern is interference and cutouts...thoughts?

Pgxd is in 900mhz, the 48khz is the sample rate. But if you used 3 of these with 1 g10 I think you are setting yourself up for problems. Watch that video to find out why 👍

Mono IEM sucks...
I usually chose Mono IEMs to be honest. But it's always your choice, and that's why I included in the video if you have to have stereo, then this system isn't for you.

I have one band that I play with where the female vocalist uses the 2nd mono one (using the trick I do in this video: th-cam.com/video/A7Drmjn6vsQ/w-d-xo.html), and then in the other band I could do it in stereo if I wanted to... but I just leave it in mono and it's fine to me personally!
