This is the first time I've discovered Geza Maroczy. He reminds me of the way Mikhail Tal plays Fantastic game and wonderful and professional commentary. Thank you.
Another one of the all time great players,no mean effort to be able to handle Chigorin in this manner ,beautiful, uncomplicated and accurate chess ,fantastic to watch
I play chess on my iPhone everyday. Your videos teach me something new every time so that I am able to apply new tactics in my games. Thank you so much Mato.
I dont really know how to play chess, I mean I understand some basic tactics when people explain but I never bothered to study the game enough to feel I will enjoy playing it at a high level, that being told I find it amazing how each video of yours I have seen makes me understand something new on the game. Good job sir.
Awesome channel, I follow it every day. Since you've got some interpretations about your name in different languages, in finnish 'mato' means worm. Cheerz from Finland.
what i took from it was that he wasn't looking to win with these moves, but to staunch black's development with him. Kinda just, hustled him i guess you could say? ive been known to do it from time to time.
Would be hard for me (~1600) , but i would prefer White. A lot of atacking possibilities. And now the Clue: Even if i would lost such a game (maybe in a big tournament) i would be glad and happy to play this. I guess it must be a lot of fun to play this. Even if you loose. You still can say: "Heeeey, i´ve offered you 2 Knights and still fight back!!" I also like to play such a style with tactical sacs :)
Yeah, me too :) I am happy that I can improve my chess just by watching this beautiful games with great presentation by Mato. But I can't understand why Maroczy played this sacrifices, he can't calculate that he'll win. Looks like Tal's style.
Bishop to F6! My second time finding the critical move! I think I'm learning. I wonder if I would even think to look for a killer move in this game if you hadn't told me there was one.
Chigorin was surprised By the king's gambit when he has his own defense line named for queen's gambit he could not play now :D (Chigorin Defense on Queen's Gambit declined: 1. d4 d5 2. c4 Nc6)
Oh, I see now. After the white bishop block, the queen would take the bishop but she would be unprotected facing the king, so it's either way death for black.

My fave is always "I wish you good luck with your chess"... love that.

fantastic game!! thanx Mato!! Maroszy had obviously great imagination & iron nerves...
I LOVE your dramatic Japanese accent. It makes the chess battle so much more epic

Excellent game and commentary!
Mato, You teach chess to thousands around the world!

I like the muzio gambit; I usually go for it when playing the king's gambit.
Thank you for your comment
In resigned position 7:58, if black moved N to e6 to prevent Qg7, then Qxg6, and after K moves, mate on Qf7 or h7.
no takie partie Maczogiego są super/jest tego więcej = szkoda ,że mistrzem świata nie został....eh/nie było wtedy takich rozrywek

ありがとう
Thank you
Thanks for teaching chess and geography.
Mato , if you have time can you do a few more games of Geza Maroczy , i love his style also , very entertaining , cheers :)
Amazing how many pieces he sacrificed during the beginning to secure a dominant positional play.
Bishop to F6! My second time finding the critical move! I think I'm learning. I wonder if I would even think to look for a killer move in this game if you hadn't told me there was one.
Nice vids mato
Amazing game!
at 5:30 better move than Bf6 would be b4 Qc7 d6 and when black queen moves Bf6 in-between move"s"
great game. thanks Mato
YES! I saw the bishop to F6! WOOT!
Thats a trick question Mato!! not fair :). I refuse to answer until I am rated 2500 in chess. lol
No, I am positional player.
WOW!
YAY I found it mato your awesome
Black's fundamental error was 4 g4. 4 Bg7 leads to either of the Hanstein or Philidor gambits and Black is better, regardless of White's selection.
Mato, what would be the top 5 books you would recommend for the beginner?
Chigorin was surprised By the king's gambit when he has his own defense line named for queen's gambit he could not play now :D (Chigorin Defense on Queen's Gambit declined: 1. d4 d5 2. c4 Nc6)
Cool game indeed. :)
This is actually the MacDonnell Gambit. The Muzio Gambit would be 5. 0-0.
I would choose to be black. But only after the position at 6:50.
sometimes i also sacrifice my officials and copying gm moves but i always lose the game.
Savage!
kings gambit is amazing an crazy¡
Would't black queen to e1 (check) be a solution?
Oh, I see now. After the white bishop block, the queen would take the bishop but she would be unprotected facing the king, so it's either way death for black.
マトは日本人ですか?
I'd play f5 instead of Kg7
マトの英語の発音は上手い!笑”
Mato is King !!
it is all about development , I think , in this video
Este ok
The 2 'dislikes' must be forgiven...they are blind and deaf.
