Mato i must say, everytime u say "Critical moment" and "Killer move" Me and my mate is crying of laughter, this is some of the best videos on youtube, i just found them 1 week ago, and please dear mato KEEP MAKING MOVIE :D
The more I watch your videos, play, analyze my games, and look at master games, the more I appreciate why Bobby Fischer sponsored a chess book that teaches the reader how to identify mating patterns. It seems that mating pattern intuition may be developed by studying all the different ways the chess pieces may surround the king.

Qh6 was quite easy to find (and yeah pretty spectacular) but "the creeping move" variation was pretty hard to come up with.
Hi mr. Mato, the creeping move was more difficult to find, i want to thank you for your videos, now im a bad ass in my dojo, im into the karate too, shito ryu is my style, thanks again, oooozu
Very beautiful Anastasia's checkmate. I have been able to finish my opponent with this checkmate. I do like that in this game black King was forced to capture the white Queen. If you see checkmate pattern, then forget material and sacrifice!
The creeping move was way more difficult to find. But i was wondering at 05:21 i think that with my intermediate level of chess EYES can see mate in 2 moves.Qh3,then threatning mate on Qh8.Great video as always ;).PS.You say "Creeping" very creppy :D
I concur with most of these comments, the creeping move was a tough one to find. Qb6 is the kind of move I can always find, forcing moves have saved my attacks too often for me not to see them :) I really like the idea though, moving it to an indirectly supported square and letting black do nothing for a move. Realising my opponent has no good moves to make is something much harder for me to see, though I almost exclusively play 5 0 games on Live Chess and as such often have to streamline the decision making process. I think when my winter term is finished at university I will dedicate a day or five to playing some longer games, maybe around an hour each or so. I want to make some truly killer moves against people with time to make considered responses. 5 0 has been irritating me recently due to this very unavoidable lack of precise play.
This Qb6 was in one of Silman's chess.com strategy lessons. Somehow I found it from the first try, but it took like half an hour for me. I would never it in real game - to find best move in this position I should be aware, that winning move shurely exists.
The sacrifice is the most powerful piece of mis-direction in chess....but when its forced....I would have resigned also before taking the queen....Its just, I dont know A HUGE SLAP IN THE FACE!! I didnt see the creeper or the checkmate coming....I like it that way.
I don't think creeping move made much difference but is the DEADLY knight again 😊 the more I watch such video I still think I don't know how to use this piece it has so many veriations, it always SURPRISE me .
It's taken an passant. It's a rule that was added after the rule that allowed the pawn to go 2 steps forward on it's first play. So it is a compensating rule. As you can see the white pawn is on it's 5th rank, if the ''2 step on it's first play'' rule was not there for the pawn, he could only make one step. If that would be the case in the game, the white pawn could take it. So to compensate, they added an passant, so you have the possibility to take the pawn after it jumps past your pawn that is on it's 5th rank.
Only 9 years late, but anyway. A creeping move is a move that appearantly doesn't change much about a position, but, in a deeper examination, is actually very strong. It generally involves seemingly slow queen moves.
+Aragorn Stellar What he meant by that was that the bishop wasn't doing anything and is inactive. So, it's best to exchange off with an active piece of opponent's. And that's what he did!
Essentially if you have a bunch of pawns on squares of the same color, the bishop of that color will be passive since it will struggle to get around the pawns. In lots of different defenses black gets stuck with a bad light-squared bishop (e.g. French, QGD, Semi-slav)
I think Qh6+! isn't as easy as it seems; white needs to calculate till mate using the rook on c1. Black is threatening 1... Qd3+2. Ka1 Nc2+ 3.Kb1 Nd4+ leading to a draw. If 3.Rc2, then 3...Qd1++
ok just check this with me pls i could be wrong. if spassky didnt sacrifice the queen to checkmate black with rook to h1. then look at black how close he was to checkmate spassky. if spassky played Rh1 before Qh6 then there is checkmate for korchnoi in 4 moves with knight and queen. just an obstervation. btw thnx mato for the amazing instructive videos. could you post more rashid nezhmetdinov please. i love his style and the way you comment his games with passion even when you like kasparov and fisher. ps: bet you wouldnt draw against spassky if u ever played against him in this era. lol just kidding mato thanks for everything.
Qh6 was more spectacular, but if you ever practice tactics it would be an easy find. i found it relatively fast including the followup. But I did not find Qb6.
at 1:43 why didnt white take the knight in d4? is it free pawn or am i missing something? or is it just that white will lose his wonderful bishop for a knight?
Hi Mato , in french , when you say " en passant " , you don't pronounce the " t " at the end ... it sounds like : " en passan " . & thanks for your brilliant & pleasant videos .
Yes, but it is relevant to my chess, since I don't play grandmasters. For example, the best tool for the job is not always the grandmaster move. If I am playing an average player, I will happily sac one or even two minor pieces for a slight advantage in the opening. The most important thing in chess is knowing your opponent and their strategy (if any) and countering it well. Of course against a gm (genetically modified!) Chess player, you can't play fast and loose, but a great deal of the time fast and loose-ish can win the game!
Qb6 was far more difficult for me to find.
Spassky had a super level of play in those times(1966-1971)and he was probably the strogest player of the world, almost like an engine,a true legend.
i know someone who would disagree
What is creeping move? Creeping move is a city in Russia.
"I beg your pardon?" Mato - you have the best quotes on TH-cam.
Thank you
I love saying "ze killah move" in unison with Mato lol
The Creeping Move was harder to find.
i think he said "Tequilla move" heheheh
Jajajajajajaja!!!
I've been watching these videos for several years now, and that queen to b6 'creeping move' is one of the most beautiful moves ive seen..
Mato i must say, everytime u say "Critical moment" and "Killer move" Me and my mate is crying of laughter, this is some of the best videos on youtube, i just found them 1 week ago, and please dear mato KEEP MAKING MOVIE :D

you have great videos mato, thanks for making these
Thank you matto for all the work you put into your videos.
Love your commentaries! Keep it up.
Thank you
For most of these moves when the game paused, I sometimes will see the move but dismiss it for not working, and when I unpause it, that move won.
Yes, it was
Thank you for presenting this awesome game!! Wish you good luck in chess! :)
VERY instructive. Thank you.
Hi mr. Mato, the creeping move was more difficult to find, i want to thank you for your videos, now im a bad ass in my dojo, im into the karate too, shito ryu is my style, thanks again, oooozu
Thank you Mato for your fine videos!
The creeping move was much harder to find, the killer move in the end took me about 3 seconds to find! Very instructive game!
Awesome game! Thank you Mato :)
Yes, I have
As a french native speaker, I really like your accent when you said: "En passant".
8 views 2 likes as i'm watching... earliest i caught one of your videos... feel honored... liked and favorited already :)
your vids are cool Mato - keep up the good work :)
Awesome Mato!!! Thanks bro!
thank you for the video
i love your videos :)
I found the creeping move harder to find, Cheers from Sweden :)!
I love your videos and explainations sir
i love your videos Mato
Thank you
At 3:46
For White, instead of pushing Pawn C4-C5.
Would not Bishop E3-C5 be better?
I really like your videos Mato.
Very beautiful Anastasia's checkmate. I have been able to finish my opponent with this checkmate. I do like that in this game black King was forced to capture the white Queen. If you see checkmate pattern, then forget material and sacrifice!
The "creeping" move was more difficult, as QH6 is a relatively well-known Anastasia mate pattern.
Mato missed this continuation at 8:40 >>>>> After queen c2 check - king a1 - queen b1 check - rook takes queen - night c2 check mate
+Vishal Yadav Queen can take the black queen on c1 so it is not possible
+Vishal Yadav Oh sorry white king can take the queen on b1
+alperen sancar yup right ... I missed that
a killer move, and a creeping move; very good game!
Grandmaster Boris not the greatest grandmaster, just my favorite.
The creeping move was way more difficult to find. But i was wondering at 05:21 i think that with my intermediate level of chess EYES can see mate in 2 moves.Qh3,then threatning mate on Qh8.Great video as always ;).PS.You say "Creeping" very creppy :D
Hi mato l like your videos and explanation especially when you analyze Tal's games
My draw dropped when I found the killer move. Truly unbelievable.
*jaw
Fantastic!
the creeping move was much harder to find. thanks to mato i am now able to find killa moves with much more ease
Great video. I found the killer move, but not the creeping move!!
I concur with most of these comments, the creeping move was a tough one to find. Qb6 is the kind of move I can always find, forcing moves have saved my attacks too often for me not to see them :)

Anastasia mate is one of favourite patterns
At 10:40 Mato's "I beg yo paaadon" sounded like Arnold Schwarzenegger :-)
2:02 knight takes pawn is better, because it doesn't lose a pawn.
5:42 Waht about Qh3? With the strong threat of Checkmate? Or am I overlooking something?
Josephus Mutzenbacher Prob just rook G7.. cant see any progress after that
bobby my all time favorite :) u r d king man...
HI THIS IS MATO
This Qb6 was in one of Silman's chess.com strategy lessons. Somehow I found it from the first try, but it took like half an hour for me. I would never it in real game - to find best move in this position I should be aware, that winning move shurely exists.
Oh thats beautiful!
The creeping move was much harder to see, the mating pattern at the end is a standard ploy.
Qh6 was an spetacular move, wow, just wow
+englishmanspeaks Maybe you did, but could you create the situation where a move like that would be possible?
You should get a slot on prime time TV. I have liked all your vids so far. = D
Im not a really good chess player and I saw the final move.. but the creeping move was much more shivering :)
Anastasia Mate! Beauty
Late comment! 8:45 Qb1 then knight C2. Would that work?
+dot dot no, because white can take the queen with the king, if he was forced to take with the rook, it's a smothered mate in one
Wonderful game,terrific...
Ne6+ was planned far ahead and is the move i like best
I know. Just kidding. Thank you!
Perfect check-mate.
the creeper was creepier than anastasia's mate. but that woman pretending for years to be anastasia was creepier than both.
definitely the creeping move was harder to find!
The sacrifice is the most powerful piece of mis-direction in chess....but when its forced....I would have resigned also before taking the queen....Its just, I dont know A HUGE SLAP IN THE FACE!! I didnt see the creeper or the checkmate coming....I like it that way.
brilliant checkmate
I don't think creeping move made much difference but is the DEADLY knight again 😊 the more I watch such video I still think I don't know how to use this piece it has so many veriations, it always SURPRISE me .
Mato, you are so loved that in few minutes you already have 25 views?
how did pawn take pawn at 2:00 ?
It's taken an passant. It's a rule that was added after the rule that allowed the pawn to go 2 steps forward on it's first play. So it is a compensating rule. As you can see the white pawn is on it's 5th rank, if the ''2 step on it's first play'' rule was not there for the pawn, he could only make one step. If that would be the case in the game, the white pawn could take it. So to compensate, they added an passant, so you have the possibility to take the pawn after it jumps past your pawn that is on it's 5th rank.
For me the creeping move is more difficult to find, the other move can be found throught pattern recognition of knight and rook mate.
one thing I learned - I am too stupid to play chess
+tosgem Not what i thought when i saw this video. Just realized chess is way more imaginative than most people think
same here bro
By Plane.
the creeping move i found the killer move in 3 seconds
Hey Mato, what chess program do you use?
HIARCS
bella partita bella partita
Fantastic Game!!!
hhahahahahahhaha....'The Creeping Move...' hilarious
9:00 how is g5 the best move? can someone explain this, i'm new to chess.
+Muecke Official Blocking the withe Queen to check on H6
the creepy move is much more difficult to find
Thank you Mato for your video. It's very nice as usual.
BUT.. I still did not understand the concept of "Creeping Move". Can you explain it more plz.
Only 9 years late, but anyway. A creeping move is a move that appearantly doesn't change much about a position, but, in a deeper examination, is actually very strong. It generally involves seemingly slow queen moves.
Didn't find the creeping move, the killah move was a cinch. Thanks Mato.
i can find queen sacrifice but creeping move very difficult
Same for me... genious play! ;O)
queen sacrifice was quite easy, but the creeping move was very hard to find. i wont find moves like this.
dickmann1979 On top... when we sit at the board playing... we don't have Mato next to us telling us when to look for them!!! ;O)
Very cool game!
I was expecting the Q shift from e6 to Qh3. There were a couple of times this was playable.
What is a "bad bishop?" I thought I new, but I really don't.
French, QGD, Semi-slav)
at minute 6:00 why not white plays Qh3??
Because you are moving away from the king.
It goes like this. Bg7 Qh7+
And king escapes.
I think Qh6+! isn't as easy as it seems; white needs to calculate till mate using the rook on c1. Black is threatening 1... Qd3+2. Ka1 Nc2+ 3.Kb1 Nd4+ leading to a draw. If 3.Rc2, then 3...Qd1++
Didn't get the creeping move, but got the killah move - so for me, the creeping move was more difficult.
ok just check this with me pls i could be wrong. if spassky didnt sacrifice the queen to checkmate black with rook to h1. then look at black how close he was to checkmate spassky. if spassky played Rh1 before Qh6 then there is checkmate for korchnoi in 4 moves with knight and queen. just an obstervation. btw thnx mato for the amazing instructive videos. could you post more rashid nezhmetdinov please. i love his style and the way you comment his games with passion even when you like kasparov and fisher. ps: bet you wouldnt draw against spassky if u ever played against him in this era. lol just kidding mato thanks for everything.
It took me five seconds to find Queen sacrifice-
I would’ve never figure out the creepy movie
Nice.
Final move: I would have moved white castle across to check the black King.
I wonder at the critical point if white moved BxC5?
Qh6 was more spectacular, but if you ever practice tactics it would be an easy find. i found it relatively fast including the followup. But I did not find Qb6.
yee I was able to find the killer move!
at 1:43 why didnt white take the knight in d4? is it free pawn or am i missing something? or is it just that white will lose his wonderful bishop for a knight?
Hi Mato , in french , when you say " en passant " , you don't pronounce the " t " at the end ... it sounds like : " en passan " . & thanks for your brilliant & pleasant videos .
A lot of players i find will take that knight forgetting that it's protecting the Queen
Yes, but it is relevant to my chess, since I don't play grandmasters. For example, the best tool for the job is not always the grandmaster move.
