  • We need your help! Our #skoolie build is about to begin, and we need your help choosing some items for our conversion. Let us know in the comments if you have any experience or comments on any of these items. What are your thoughts on the recpro tankless water heater? It seems like it has some good reviews and is well priced. We are also considering getting an apartment stove for the kitchen. Our solar rack still needs some finalization as well. Skoolie.com has some mounting brackets that look like they will work. What do you all think of these items?
If you are reading this, thank you so much for watching our videos. Your support really means a lot to us!

Welcome to our Big Family Expedition! We are a family of 8 that sold everything we owned in 2019 to travel full time with our kids. Ask Scott! He fixes a lot of the on demands after a deep freeze. He can probably give you tips on how to prevent that.

our truma on demand has been wonderful and trouble free over our time of ownership, regular annual descaling of course but then no issues... today's multi use smart ovens can do convection, air fryer and microwave service.. as for stove induction cook top is awesome.. when not in use it is a flat glass surface... if you have the room a full bathroom and a half bath is the way to go...

Thank you for the tips. We will have to look into Truma more, we heard that you had to go to a dealer to install those but maybe that is not true.

Can't really offer comments re what to buy, but the other skoolie channel I sub to (I'm sure you'll know) has just today done a video with the RecPro water heater. Can't wait to see the bus color you chose.🌈

We have a 5th wheel but we do have the Furion tankless water heater and so far we have not had any issues. We have the Insignia stove/oven. We baked pies for Thanksgiving and cookies for Christmas and it was awesome. It is propane but the oven works better than the one we had in our sticks n bricks. We had a class A with a split bath room toilet alone on one side behind its own door. The sink and shower on the other which could be separated from the front with a pocket door. The bathroom separated our rear bedroom from the rest of the coach also behind our toilet was our combo washer/dryer. We liked it because if one of us was in the shower the toilet was available and not in the same room. Wasn't ever a fan of a wetbath. Kinda weird for me to take a shower with the toilet under me. Can't wait to see your decision.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've had those same exact thoughts about the toilet and shower being together but I've seen others do it and it doesn't seem so bad. We'll see. I'm really trying to be creative and maximize all the space.

Enjoyed again sorry can't help on what brands to use, but on demand, sounds good, with the big family yall have, Christy answered her own question, she likes to bake ,so bigger oven, don't think toaster oven is feasible, Better yet ask BOB and Karri, they give good advice😊 tanks for sharing

Thank you! I think we are leaning more towards the apartment sized stove. I really think I would end up regretting it later if we don't go that route.

Interesting that you don't mention Air Fryer. We have a Ninja Foodie XL Air Fryer/oven. We LOVE IT. We have the biggest RV stove/oven and we can't stand our oven. We use it as storage. The Ninja XL Oven isn't big enough for full size cookie sheets. We use little commercial grade quarter size cookie sheets. Tania has baked 2 cheesecakes in the Ninja XL Oven at once. And we could bake 2 Red Baron pizzas at the same time. We did that a LOT. And the air fryer function is amazing for bringing left overs back to life. I think you would have problems with a full size oven as you don't have 240-volt electricity in an RV. You certainly won't have it at an rv park. The Ninja XL Oven does amazing power wise on just 115 volts and never trips any breakers. We can run it the same time as the microwave and the AC.

We have never actually used an Air Fryer, or had food cooked in an Air Fryer... We must be weird because it seems everyone else has lol. We were actually looking at a Ninja Foodie XL recently and the description said it could fit a full size cookie sheet, newer model maybe? That is awesome that you can make a cheesecake in them because my wife loves to make custom cheesecakes! The other option would be an apartment sized propane stove to not use any electricity, but you can't find them used around our area and new is pretty $$$.

We have 43 ft remodeled RV and we have residential refrigerator, microwave and stove. Our water heater is a fogatti and it works great. We are still working on the solar system but we will get there. Hope this help. Good luck. ❤

Thank you for the tips. I think we are going with the fogatti water heater and full size fridge. We are still trying to decide on the solar mounting though, but I am sure we will figure it out.

Hey you guys, I’m still new to the channel so I’m definitely behind on everything you’ve got going on. I don’t know if you all watch any of the tiny house shows or look at any of that stuff but when you’re talking about stoves and things usually see some interesting ideas with those, and who knows maybe that would help out with other things and what you’re doing. Before we actually bought a camper and I was thinking about trying to build one or convert something into one by practically binge to watch those shows to try to get ideas.

Have you looked at layouts for the motor homes? Thats basically what you have. I like the idea of separating the toilet and shower. With that many people in a small area it will be nice to have toilet available while someone is in the shower. I would consider 2 toilets. Emergencies happen lol. Can't wait to see the paint job. Purple would be a nice color.

We have watched other RV remodels, bus builds, and tiny home videos. So many great and creative ideas! We're still deciding between a few different ideas for the bathroom. I would love purple!!! I'm out numbered with boys who don't agree. 😂

Would you have to use a RV model or could you use a residential one? My dad is a plumber and he recommends the propane Navien because it uses stainless steel components over copper. It also has an internal circulating system, some others (Like Rheem do not)
