Hi John, if you want to try something new (in terms of brand) and insanely cheap for the quality, take a look at the Future Model Edge 540 48”, it’s a fantastic little 3D woodie, locked in like a 60” in every post stall maneuver, insane roll rate and on top of that the fit and finish is absolutely amazing. This brand really deserves to be featured.
Is that on aliexpress? That's the only place I can find it. Is it a woodie? The one I found looks like a hybrid . I have the wargo 540 and a skywing that are both hybrids and they are awesome...worlds better than straight foam
@@DownNDirtyRcbangood is out of them and when out they don't show it on search's. I remember seeing it on AlliExpress and thinking this is probably a scam. lol
Yeah, I like Brain a lot, been viewing him for many years. But you are a breath of fresh air, Brian seemed a little intimidated by that plane. Gotta fly fly it like you stole it. Loving your work. This plane not for old me at this stage, keen to go for the new FMS F16 64 after your great review. Cheers.
Hello John, I'm a bit confused, at 1:01 you mentioned the CG was almost identical for both packs.. When you say this, are you referring to the 2200mah 30C 4S pack and the 3200mah 4s 50C pack that you are showing in your video? Because you had a 3rd pack in the video...a 3200mah 30C 4S pack which is 60grams lighter than the 50C pack. Thank you.
You should review the fly fans SU-27 twin 64, I think you'd like it! Fly super good unfortunately the stabs are wired together so I'm working on splitting them. It's a high alpha/cobra monster!
Rudder throws were great, elevator was a little limited compared to what we wanted to get. We did a couple of mods to the plane that'll showcase this in the near future when we put the Extra 330 SC vs the Arrows Edge 540 soon! As far as servos go, the AGF B13s are too small to fit into the pockets for these servos.
This one looks good. No upside-down flat bottom airfoil deformed wing this time. Lol who remembers their orange one? They clearly had deformed foam airfoils but refused to own up to it, instead blaming customers for the terrible flight characteristics. Claiming we all modified the control linkages, even when we didn’t. But meanwhile the wing was flat on top and curved on the bottom. According to them, that’s a perfectly acceptable airfoil shape for an aerobatic Extra. Flew better inverted than it did upright. Total coincidence that they discontinued the model immediately, but their official stance was that there’s nothing wrong with it. Way to go eflite.
We were able to fly the original 300 pretty well - and it didn't look deformed to us. The issues with that plane were its prone-to-overheating ESC and super weak wire strut. This new one is way better in many ways and we're thrilled to see that it finally came back. The original 300 was sold for years, so yeah... not sure where the "it was discontinued immediately" comes from lol
Hello John, I saw you had a 3200mah 30C 4S and also a 3200mah50C 4S pack... which one did you use in your flying? Do you recommend the 50C over the 30C pack? I noticed the weight is 60grams more for the 50C pack. Thank you.
Just one quick question (hopefully not a dumb one). Did you upgrade to AS3X+ to get the 150 rates. I read that you have to ugrade to AS3X+ to go above 100 rates. Is that correct?
Nope, it's being flown on stock AS3X here. You don't have to upgrade to AS3X+ to use 150 travel. You can never use 150 rates. Rates are a function of travel set in Servo Setup - e.g. 150 travel and 100% rate is 150 travel. 150 travel with 67% rate is 100 travel. You do need to unlock and reprogram the receiver for it to work with 150 travel.
Yeah, I guess I meant travel. I got myself confused. I really appreciate the clarification, because, one day, I want to do tumbles like that, and I'm pretty sure you need 150 travel. Thx.
I know alot of planes you change out servos and things to get full potential out a plane im new to flying and wanting to get more into the 3d/sport flying im just wondering if this is right out of the box setup or if things were changed i have one ordered and just trying to see there are things i need to do right away to behave like this and nice flying i enjoy your videos sometime ill learn how to fly like this looking forward to seeing this plane more in your videos hopefully
Yeah, that was just to land -- we basically never used it in flight since it doesn't help. The ailerons were just used as air brakes on landing. Nothing to write home about, really.
Hello. Today I flight my extra 330SC for the first time and it flew very well, but the plane dragged me down, so I would like to know if you could tell me about your elevator trim please.
If I could ask, where this is basically the same airframe as the old 1.3 Extra… why does this one exhibit less wing rock? Did they change something with the wings?
hello, I have a serious problem and I would like to know if you can help me. I flew the extra 330 SC 1.3m today and the ride felt a little unstable. The instability is noticeable during various acrobatics, such as harrier, slow rolls and also during landings. I was thinking of adding an As3x to the receiver if that might be the solution, but I'm interested in your opinion.
Join up on Discord via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord and share some videos if you have any in the #3d channel! It's basically impossible to tell on YT comments what the issue might be for you otherwise.
Got a small problem, bud. My back elevators go down and will not adjust to normal. Haven't flown the 330 SC model, but I assembled it and placed the correct settings on my NX 10 transmitter. Everything seems to function correctly, except the back elevators point downward as soon as the battery is plugged in.
I really wish you would show a plane in its stock configuration to the book as far as throws and as3x things like that atleast for a bit then just flick a switch and show what it can do i really like seeing how a plane works in stock configuration and stock recommendations for rates
There's plenty of other channels that show what planes do specifically to the manual setup. That's not what we do. The adjustments you're asking for would at least double the amount of filming we need to do and trips required to film, too, on top of increasing all of the editing load that we're doing as-is. It's not something we have any interest or plan in. Sorry!
I agree with you Dan! I couldn't get a wicked crankshaft out of it to save my butt, Lol. It flies great with the OG AS3X, but I'm looking forward to tuning it with AS3X+. (not that that will help my crankshafts, lol)
They made the livery almost like Extreme Flight’s. Is the weight still heavy like the old version? I swapped my power system to a Sunnysky 6s 1500mah on this plane, whole different beast!
To be fair, they based it off the real-life Extra 330 from Jim Bourke, founder of RC Groups. ;) It's heavier than balsa pilots probably want it to be, but it's still very capable and quite a bit of fun to fly.
@@TwoBrosRCgotcha! If you the time, swap the motor to a Sunnysky, they have a size similar to this Eflite motor but runs 6s, and use light 6s packs from 1500-1800mah, flies waaay nicer! On the balsa side, Extreme Flight is pushing out 48” plug n’ plays for $500, good for entry level for anyone transitioning from foam to balsa 3d flying
What is the performance difference In between the eflight extra 300 and 330. Which do you recommend for all around 3d. I would love to see a side by side review and what they do better than eachother.
The original 300 had a little more power, but the 330 has improvements in its motor box, landing gear, servo quality, flight time, and overall handling. We can't really compare the two since we don't own the original anymore, and being discontinued means they're kinda hard to come across now.
@@flyingfools47 good point but for $800 Aud you can get alot of the newer "high end" airframes by brands like skywing or extreme flight, but you do have to supply electronics and all, I do see why this plane is appealing to pilots tho because it flys very well
@@flyingfools47yes but $400 for a 1.3m kind of capable foamie with no wing bag and no sfg’s. You’re better off with a 48” extreme flight edge 540 or something, that’s like $500 with wing bag and sfg’s as well as it is going to be a way more capable airplane. Or at least go with the FMS mxs that’s like $240 ($300 with receiver) for a slightly smaller airplane.
True the super timber is a pig and that probably contributes, Skywing manages on there full size lineup, would be nice to have a decent sized foamy that’s as easy/quick to assemble at the field though (I was triggered when you said you pulled out the Allen wrench 😂)
That's pretty normal for a plane that's tail heavier than suggested, and honestly a desirable trait that can be used to make it fly amazingly well for 3D maneuvers.
Holy shit, the Horizon tax is real. More than 500CAD for a 1.3 metre plane that's surpassed in flight performance by the Flex RV-8? No way! I will give it to them, they absolutely cooked with the livery this time.
Yeah, we can't wait to buy another Flex plane that throws a magnet after four flights, has paint flaking off everywhere when it's removed from the box, and whose support and QC is spotty at best. There's nothing like having to reglue hinges that should've been glued from the factory, or getting your post deleted on their Facebook group because you mentioned the Twin Otter with floats is prone to crashing when flying inverted. We get that things are more expensive in Canada, but Flex is not really a flex here. They fly well, but being a Flex owner, we'll tell you that it comes at a high cost. Apologies if this sounds like an attack on ya - we're just a bit annoyed with Flex lately given the issues surrounding them right now.
I have an RV-8, the only Flex plane I bought after realizing the crap I had to deal with when mounting the motor for assembly. It flies beautiful, but took a lot of calibration to fly how it’s supposed to be. Their QC department is kinda sketch
@@TwoBrosRCglad to have seen your comment on the Flex planes. I’d been dead set on ordered an RV8 10E lately until reading your comment here. Horizon has been very good to me and reading what you said convinced me to stick with the extra 330 from eflight instead. Thanks for the input on Flex, it’s too bad to hear about these issues though. I’d been dying to order the RV8 before.
@@TwoBrosRC it's not the location it's that it just isn't great on my extra 300 very tight terrible straps the tray itself is extremely weak ...that's really my only gripe on the extra 300 hopefully they made the battery area better but doesn't seem like it ...I have a 48" extreme flight in this same color with a 6s tmotor for just a tad over this price so not really worth it imo but it's definitely better looking then in the yellow
Great video guys but I disagree that this is a good 3d airplane. I purchased the prior version when it came out. I messed with different batteries, cg, everything, and it never flew 3d good. Yes it can be done, especially by a very skilled pilot like yourself, but it's a fight and not much fun. This model is a great big air flyer. Big loop and rolls, it does great. I sold mine and bought a real 3d airplane. It was a world of difference for the better.
Unfortunately HH just ruined any desire I had to learn. At the moment I'm really disappointed with my micro draco that I waited most of the summer for. It probably shouldn't have ended up costing me over $500. Very disappointed. Enjoy your hobby.
@TwoBrosRC it's a long story about severe lack of any communication on their end during this. That is what led to the basic disaster I'm at. Apologizing to my late father. Which is why I was learning. Apologizing to my wife for the disaster it created in her account. And Apologizing to myself because I don't even want to learn. All because of horrible customer service and severe lack of communication from HH. Unfortunately the monopoly has led to a bit of lacking. Consider I owned the very first run JrX2 buggy. That's how long I've been around. Never have I experienced such a disaster of a transaction.
@TwoBrosRC all could have been prevented with a simple email. At multiple stages of the disaster. My loss. I highly doubt they'll even care I'm gone. But all the kids at the town park that's right off my backyard. They all enjoy every time I have anything rc out. It's all about the kids. Have fun making videos. I enjoyed for awhile anyway.
@TwoBrosRC since I've given it some time and heard nothing but crickets. I'm sure they have their version. I've been into rc a long time. I got back into it heavily after becoming disabled. Although Dr's say so, the working world says so. But disability says get a job skinny white boy. Anyway the wife and I agreed it would be good for me. But now my catch is my income. My wife works hard and I can only get what I can and when I can. So after loosing my parents. I decided I would try flying, since my dad always wanted to. Now to the situation. In February I ordered an NX10 and a Micro draco. Figuring the radio would be a next step in learning and the draco, well because draco. At the time I ordered draco the draco apparently went on backorder. But at the time of my order. My receipt said paid in full. $600 plus paid in full. OK, so I also ordered from other stores and ebay. All my rc and things I needed at once. My wife does our banking. Of course, she's working. I don't look at it and have never had any issues. Everything I ordered was paid in full. Then apparently backorder. I waited and waited and waited. Never heard a word. If I asked people were short. Just wait.... My order finally shipped!! Happy camper???? A few days later my wife wakes me up at 5am yelling about HH taking $215 out of the account and bouncing other payments. Awesome, $30 some dollars each for overdraft. So I ask HH what's up. Oh, backorder. Backorder!!!! My receipt says PAID. So after a week or so of back and forth. They hit our account again for another $215. Luckily that only showed as pending. Then out of no where, both charges were gone. Money back in my account. Of course emails, no information. By then the overdraft charges were there and my wife had some what calmed down. As you can imagine. So I sent an email thanking them. Done right? A month later, another $215 and more bounced checks. I was hotter than hot after my wife lit my ass on fire. I contacted HH and after everything. They offered me $149 in free points. Wonderful points... Much less than the overdraft charges cost. Not even close to the arguing. Not to mention the shame I feel just looking at my hobby now. But I held my head up and said listen. I have a neighbor kid who is finally old enough. His family has nothing. He comes over and I let him learn on an old truck. Everything I have is brushless and beyond the kid. So I told HH to send the kid a Gorgon, $139 and I'll get over it. Eventually my wife will to. I've already lost this summer to shame anyway. HH says NOPE!!! We DON'T and WON'T give away free stuff. No way, no how. But you can still have points. Well I must inform HH that placing an rc order is NOT worth fighting or divorce. Nor would I right now. I said never mind. Just delete my account and I'll move on. They were happy to. So in the end nobody gets anything but me. A $500 micro that I can't even look at and an undeserved break from the hobby. Like one of the few things I'm able to actually do. Maybe I'll be back, who knows. Thanks for listening and take care.

Is that on aliexpress? That's the only place I can find it. Is it a woodie? The one I found looks like a hybrid . I have the wargo 540 and a skywing that are both hybrids and they are awesome...worlds better than straight foam

Jon flying the sht outta that extra. I was gonna save up for a couple helis but now idk lol you sold me
Wow, your review so much better than old mate B Phillips. You really can show what the plane can do. Off to AV8 now.
Brian's a great guy, he just isn't into 3D as much as we are.
Cheers.
This or the FMS MXS? Which one is better? Great flying!
MXS for inexpensive 3D learning, Extra 330 for moving up into bigger and more capable aerobatics.
The chickens 😂😂
Gotta get them to bugger off somehow. They'll eat foam planes alive.
@@TwoBrosRC I believe it! We had chickens when I was a kid in Oklahoma. Destructive little morsels
Uggggghhhh this came out a year late! I got some Extreme flight planes now! Totally would have gotten this before i transitioned to bigger planes!
Still makes a great trainer or something to warm up with before flying the woods
I would LOVE to see you tune and fly a Freewing 80mm MiG-29
Any chance you'd donate to the cause? Motion probably won't send that jet to us and it'll be quite expensive to pick up just for a couple of videos.
Love your videos! I would love to hear your thoughts on the arrows edge 540
We've got it! Just waiting to post it now.
@@TwoBrosRC awesome! love the level of detail you go into in all your reviews
Thank you.
The CG barely changes between packs in this plane.
You should review the fly fans SU-27 twin 64, I think you'd like it! Fly super good unfortunately the stabs are wired together so I'm working on splitting them. It's a high alpha/cobra monster!
If we can find a place that isn't a certain fruit-named retailer to pick it up from, absolutely. It does look like fun.
What did you think of the tail servo throws? Also if/when you upgrade servos would you use something like AGFRC (B13DLM V2)?
Thank you.
Both, the C rating doesn't really matter much with this plane. The lighter pack is generally better though.
@@TwoBrosRC Thank you :)
hi Jon I wonder if you are using AS3X+ when flying in this video the extra 330SC 1.3m
Nope, left it stock. Next vid comparing it to the Arrows Edge 540 in a tier matchup will be with AS3X+.
10:25 covers your question!
@@TwoBrosRC ok awesome I missed that I apologize and thank you for the reply sir
I heard you say that it is set up stock, but on a couple of your landings I'm sure I saw your (snap) flap settings.
Yeah, that was just to land -- we basically never used it in flight since it doesn't help. The ailerons were just used as air brakes on landing. Nothing to write home about, really.
👍👍👍 can’t wait to get mine, what kind of flight time are you getting to 3200 pack? Thanks for info.
About 6 minutes.
Hello. Today I flight my extra 330SC for the first time and it flew very well, but the plane dragged me down, so I would like to know if you could tell me about your elevator trim please.
Elevator trim is specific to each plane and the CG you're using. Take it up and test it!
If I could ask, where this is basically the same airframe as the old 1.3 Extra… why does this one exhibit less wing rock? Did they change something with the wings?
The plane seems lighter, that's definitely part of it.
hello, I have a serious problem and I would like to know if you can help me. I flew the extra 330 SC 1.3m today and the ride felt a little unstable. The instability is noticeable during various acrobatics, such as harrier, slow rolls and also during landings. I was thinking of adding an As3x to the receiver if that might be the solution, but I'm interested in your opinion.

Hi John, would you happen to have the "BNF profile" for the new Extra 330SC plane so I can import it into my NX10 transmitter? Thanks! 😃
Nope, no BnF profiles available from us. Sorry!
@@TwoBrosRC Okay thanks buddy.
Got a small problem, bud. My back elevators go down and will not adjust to normal. Haven't flown the 330 SC model, but I assembled it and placed the correct settings on my NX 10 transmitter.
Sorry!
Your crankshafts looked better than anything Adam did. (sorry Adam) I'll be looking for AS3X+ videos from both you and the AV8R.
Adam probably outflew us in many other ways lol
I agree with you Dan! I couldn't get a wicked crankshaft out of it to save my butt, Lol. It flies great with the OG AS3X, but I'm looking forward to tuning it with AS3X+. (not that that will help my crankshafts, lol)

hi. I'm interested in what settings for expo and rates you have for aileron, elevator, rudder
10:25 covers your question!
No disrespect to Adam intended. I prefer what I am seeing here.
Why not both? Adam surely covered aspects of the plane we didn't, like 3 cell flying and a straightforward person to person talk about what to expect.
@TwoBrosRC okay so the 330 is more durable and handles better the only thing is a bit more power. Thank you.
tried sneaking affordable into that title huh
Sneaking is when you put something in plain view
Look at the price of an Extremeflight 3D plane. This is much more budget friendly
Or at least go with the FMS mxs that’s like $240 ($300 with receiver) for a slightly smaller airplane.

please do a review of the xfly f18
Probably won't, 40mm birds aren't a thing we want to feature.
I have one and it's so underpowered. You have to fly full throttle just to keep it going
Is flying this way something that can be learned on a simulator or does one just need to go for it?
Simulator practice can help, but we just went for it and learned over time.
how it fly with 4S 5000mAh batteries ? is it possible ?
Probably possible, definitely not recommended.
flight time with battery 3200mah 4S ?
Info is in the vid in the flight time section.
@@TwoBrosRC 1:30 - 12:00 11 mins aprox!! wow serious
Do you have the gyro on while hovering ?
It's always on, but it doesn't affect hovering at all. That's still going to require knowing how to hover.
Still trying to get the hang of it just gotta keep practicing again
would love to try this bird, for now i’ve gotta stick with my eratix.
i’ve posted some shorts if you’d like to check out my flying!
Wish it had the quick connect wings that the super timber (which was its main redeeming quality) has
That would be great, but also additional weight
True the super timber is a pig and that probably contributes, Skywing manages on there full size lineup, would be nice to have a decent sized foamy that’s as easy/quick to assemble at the field though (I was triggered when you said you pulled out the Allen wrench 😂)

Did they reduce weight vs the last one?
Pretty sure we covered that in the vid - but no, it's slightly heavier. Hardly noticeable given all of the improvements.
@@TwoBrosRC that's what I get for watching videos while working;)
I'm disappointed in mine. It has a weird pitch up with low throttle, that I've never seen before?
Looks like the extra 300 with a different paint job even got the terrible battery bay
It should look like an Extra 300, that's basically what it is. What's wrong with the battery location?
@@TwoBrosRC it's not the location it's that it just isn't great on my extra 300 very tight terrible straps the tray itself is extremely weak ...that's really my only gripe on the extra 300 hopefully they made the battery area better but doesn't seem like it ...I have a 48" extreme flight in this same color with a 6s tmotor for just a tad over this price so not really worth it imo but it's definitely better looking then in the yellow
Hi
y0
Great video guys but I disagree that this is a good 3d airplane. I purchased the prior version when it came out. I messed with different batteries, cg, everything, and it never flew 3d good. Yes it can be done, especially by a very skilled pilot like yourself, but it's a fight and not much fun. This model is a great big air flyer. Big loop and rolls, it does great. I sold mine and bought a real 3d airplane. It was a world of difference for the better.
Consider trying the new one - it's definitely different than it used to be.
I’m gonna donate 10 gallons of weed killer so you can get rid of that jungle at the end of the runway. My OCD says so.

@@TwoBrosRChaha that’s funny , might get the blow torch out
I wouldn't recommend Brian Philips for anything..... He doesn't understand half the things he talks about.

Unfortunately HH just ruined any desire I had to learn. At the moment I'm really disappointed with my micro draco that I waited most of the summer for. It probably shouldn't have ended up costing me over $500. Very disappointed. Enjoy your hobby.
That's unfortunate, what did HH specifically do to make you feel like that?
@TwoBrosRC it's a long story about severe lack of any communication on their end during this. That is what led to the basic disaster I'm at. Apologizing to my late father. Which is why I was learning. Apologizing to my wife for the disaster it created in her account. And Apologizing to myself because I don't even want to learn. All because of horrible customer service and severe lack of communication from HH. Unfortunately the monopoly has led to a bit of lacking. Consider I owned the very first run JrX2 buggy. That's how long I've been around. Never have I experienced such a disaster of a transaction.
That's super unfortunate, sorry to hear that!
