@@Ava2969ny The couple just stopped going to the meetings. The couple did not move away. I'm sure an elder spoke with them and the couple just told the elder they are not going back to the meetings. I suspect the couple realized there was more involved in being JWs than what was taught to them before they got baptized. They had children and were discouraged from playing after school sports and going to college.

I understand and completely agree with all that’s being said in interview. It’s a complete mind altering experience- one that can’t be fully understood unless you experienced it in your own life. The emotional carnage is unspeakable…. How to find your true self while still using the lense of cult control because that’s all you’ve ever known. So hard to progress when you’re spiritually and emotionally damaged from growing up in a mind control cult. (Sigh….)

I was in for 50 years as well. I walked away and have been recovering. The healing process is ongoing. The damage 💔 that the leadership has inflicted on many of us is horrible 😢. The vocations crisis to become an elder is becoming more and more embarrassing for the Watchtower. In the 1960s, no elder could be under 50 years old. In the 1970s, no elder could be under 40. In the 90s, no elder could be under 30 years old. Today the Watchtower is forced to appoint elders aged 24 or 22 and to baptize children aged 8. This cult no longer resembles anything as like absurd "elastic" generation.

I wish I knew of someone in my area that is a therapist that’s an ex JW. The next best thing is someone who specializes is religious trauma and there aren’t many where I’m at. Either they weren’t taking knew patents or were they don’t except my insurance.

Dr. Hassan, I’m not sure if you read the comments, but if you do is there any place I can go as an exJW to get counseling from someone who has expertise in helping exJW’s like myself. I have tried other counselors, and while they are well intentioned professionals, having to go through the process of explanation is exhausting. It would be nice to find a professional that knows the shorthand, which can help speed up the healing process.
Some love the Jehovah’s Witnesses. I was disfellowshipped early twenties. Never went back. I became an Episcopalian in The Episcopal Church. I was christened as a baby into this church.
The audio level is quite low throughout (the content of the voice call should peak about -3 dBFS, if I am not mistaken, and silences should be squelched if the dynamic range compression required this raises them to an unacceptable level) and your line read during the intro is a bit distorted (deliberate?), but these are esthetic concerns which I can get over, the latter by raising my headset amplification almost to the maximum it offers. Valuable content. Don't stop what you're doing, even through a barrage of hate mail (like my other comment might be!)

This risks implying, as stated previously, that youths have no idea what they're signing, when they just might. Counseling depends on repeat customers therefore they have to get you to wallow in your depression
