I was a JW and was an Elder for 16 years. Every congregation I was in over the years had a child molester. The JW headquarters has a data base of tens of thousands of them (so I've heard) many more than the Australian headquarters. Do something about this organization, they have hurt a lot of people.

You should collaborate with the authorities. Most Jehovah's Witnesses that I know are good people and I have respect for many of them, however, things like these never should be tolerated. This a serious problem not only among JW, but in all religious organization. The governing body of JW should be accountable for this. They are the ones who dictated those rules.

As a JW child I learned that cases where one JW commits a crime against another, such as theft, should never be reported to police. Such exposure to the outside world would bring reproach upon Jehovah's name (code for making our religion look bad). If one defrauds another, litigation is discouraged because again, bringing reproach upon Jehovah's name is a very serious matter. If an outsider was interested in our religion, was possibly a future JW but then changed their mind because you reported a crime by a fellow JW to the police (part of Satan's world, remember!) instead of the elders, you could very well become bloodguilty. Yes, _blood guilty_ because their eternal life is involved.

Jehovah's Witnesses view child abuse as a sin and not a crime. This is why the Elders and Governing Body members will never turn over an abuser to the police. They may suggest to the child or the parents that they can do so themselves but they will also be counselled that turning over a 'brother' to the authorities could cause division within the congregation. Jehovah's Witnesses also apply the 'Two Witness' rule to cases of sexual abuse. That is to say that the child must bring an eyewitness, or, second person to testify to the abuse or the abuser must confess himself. Naturally, abusers are usually diligent enough to be sure there are no others watching the abuse !

    • @trevorl.4332
      @trevorl.4332 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

No, the reason they don't turn over any abusers to the police is because they are obsessed with controlling the narrative and trying to portray a squeaky clean image. They don't give a fu*k about "sins" or "crimes" or any of these victims. I grew up in this cesspool of a cult, and my parents and other family members who I love dearly are still lifelong members, but they cannot see how disgusting and insidious this organization truly is. But do not ever question that the leadership will do ANYTHING to attempt to avoid bad press or ever being viewed in a way that "brings reproach" to this massive global organization.

@@annakat3754 Well, if you were a victim of child sexual abuse you might be asking the wrong question. A better question would be, "WHY WOULDN'T a Catholic priest (or Jehovah;s Witness Elder) turn over a child rapist to the police?" A Catholic priest will claim 'clergy-penitent privelege'. But you raise a really interesting similarity between these two religions and it is this; For over 120 years The Watchtower Society has criticised Babylon the Great, of which the Catholic Church is a major part, for practising the unscriptural ritual of confession to a priest. Yet, when Jehovah's Witnesses find themselves in a position of moral corruption (not reporting a crime), they claim the EXACT same clergy-penitent relationship ! The hypocrisy is there for all to see ! (For reference you may view the written record of the Australian Royal Commission report 2017 and the video testimony of Governing Body member Geoffrey Jackson.)

After all thats we were taught right. I was a 4th generation JW. My father an elder, mother & grandmother both Reg Pioneers, and myself an Aux Pioneer. I went with other brothers and sisters to visit Bethel, Stanley Theater and Patterson. I believed this was the true life and how everyone should live. I was raised in this organization and it was everything that my life was based off of. The last thing I ever wanted was for it to be wrong in any way. My first experience that made me raise an eye brow was when I found out a MS was abusing his wife and children to the point that the wife had to be hospitalized. He remained a MS and it was never reported to authorities. The next one was when i saw another MS hit and throw his wife into furniture. She tried to leave him and the elders called and while on speaker phone I heard them threaten to pull her into a judicial meeting for leaving him. And mark me for allowing her to stay at my house. I was latter on her judicial meeting as a witness of her abuse and the elder stated "its ok for a man to hit his wife every now and then" she was df'd for the appearance of wrong doing. They were in a neighboring cong. In the cong I was in there was an under age young teen age girl that a 50+ brother in a neighboring cong had sexual contact with. Yes he was df'd but it was never reported to authorities. I wanted to tell you a little bit of my story so you understand I didnt come to this place lightly.
To answer your statement. Yes, if a person chooses to speak up and not remain quiet after they are told by elders to do so they can be df'd, I believe they call it causing dissent in the congregation. If you still dont believe find the elders handbook (the publication that only elders get to see) called "Shepherding the Flock of God" Find the videos from the Australian Royal Commission, the California court cases where the organization refused to turn over their pedophile database, and the oh so many heart breaking testimonies from former witness that were abused. @illawarrior hill It's a bit different with the Jehovah's Witnesses, as they have a massive global data base of details of abuse that has been reported to organization leaders, but not Government Authorities. This information came to light in the Australian Royal Commission. Unlike the Catholic Church, the Jehovah's Witnesses have years of incriminating evidence recorded. Also, the Jehovah's Witnesses are, by every academic definition, a cult. The Catholic Church isn't so much. So the more information about the Jehovah's Witness organisation is exposed, the worse it will look.

Thank you so much for bringing light to this ongoing issue. Myself and at least 13 others were sexually abused by a member of our congregation when we were children. Nothing was ever reported to the police and this is absolutely why he was able to continue harming children. He was deemed “repentant” and allowed to remain. He’s still there to this day. I left the organization once realizing the extent of how child abusers are protected from legal action. My family now shuns me for that, while NOT shunning the abuser. Children are not protected. And you know this for a fact. How?
Why do they have a database of so many thousands of unreported crimes that they will NOT turn over to police. They only might
disfellowship the perp if there’s a confession or 2 witness to each crime. Disfellowshipping is NOT an appropriate punishment for a CRIME. And yes, in order to “keep the organization clean” they don’t want anyone talking about it at all. They do not care about the children. I’ve written to bethel on this matter and their response was exactly that and that Jehovah would take care of it in his own time. Rape is a crime and that’s how “worldly people” view it. You don’t fiddle with children!!! Period. And you NEVER let the perp get away with it by still allowing him to keep all congregational privileges. Yes, they do disfellowship the one raped, for talking about it. That’s why they don’t want anyone in the org talking to disfellowshipped ones. They don’t want you to know “the (dirty) truth”. Those who speak out about their abuse are called apostates by the elders.
You need to look at the “Elders Handbook”. (No women are allowed to touch it.) The men in the org can get away with absolutely anything if no one knows about it. Heck you can get disfellowshipped just for asking about it. Try it. It’s available online though because it was required to be made public by court order & was used against them in court. Most congregants don’t know that though.

Former JW here. I served or slaved to be more accurate as a Pioneer, MS, for years and was squeaky clean by JW standards. I witnessed firsthand, the attempted silencing of those who were victimized by others in the congregation. I was warned that if I brought up the abuse to anyone else, it would result in a judicial committee being formed against me. The elders taking the side of the criminal emboldened the person and I had to get a restraining order because of threats against my life. No action was taken against the criminal by the elders or CO. In court, the criminal admitted to raping one non-JW who was 12 at the time and decades ago, but denied everything else. Not only did I not remain silent, I created a web page hosting the audio from the courtroom, sent the link to every JW I knew by email, and exposed the person. It was also the first time I questioned the bold claims by the organization, specifically the claim of being God's channel. I researched the 1914 dating used to establish this claim and within a month I wrote a disassociation letter. I don't consider myself a victim and have made considerable progress at moving forward and gaining peace. The Watchtower is a wicked organization.

Letter to Elders, August 23, 2010
"The information is designed for use by the elders only, and other individuals should not have any opportunity to read the information."
Shepherd the Flock of God, 2010:
“If the accused denies the accusation, the investigating elders should try to arrange a meeting with him and the accuser together. (Note: If the accusation involves child sexual abuse and the victim is currently a minor, the elders should contact the branch office before arranging a meeting with the child and the alleged abuser .) If the accuser or the accused is unwilling to meet with the elders or if the accused continues to deny the accusation of a single witness and the wrongdoing is not established, the elders will leave matters in Jehovah's hands.” “The investigating elders should compose a record, sign it, put it in a sealed envelope, and place it in the congregations confidential file.”
    Watchtower 1995 Nov 1 pages 28-29:
    "What Can Elders Do?“
“The names of any remembered abusers should be kept in strict confidence.” “ What if the sufferer decides that he wants to make an accusation? Then the two elders can advise him that, in line with the principle at Matthew 18:15, he should personally approach the accused about the matter.“ “If the accusation is denied, the elders should explain to the accuser that nothing more can be done in a judicial way. And the congregation will continue to view the one accused as an innocent person. The Bible says that there must be two or three witnesses before judicial action can be taken. Even if more than one person remembers abuse by the same individual, the nature of these recalls is just too uncertain to base judicial decisions
    Steven Lett, JW Broadcasting
“Another way we can contribute to the oneness - (is by) rejecting false stories that are designed to separate us from Jehovah’s organization. As an example, think about the apostate-driven lies and dishonesties that Jehovah’s organization is permissive toward pedophiles. I mean, that is ridiculous, isn’t it! If anybody takes action against someone who would threaten our young ones, and takes action to protect our young ones, it is Jehovah’s organization. We reject outright such lies.”

If they were not aware of any sexual abuse, then these men acted independently even though ascribing themselves as a jehovah's wittinesss. What gets and has gotten the watchtower organization in legal battles and lawsuits is there cover up of these abuses but no proof has been presented to this fact yet or if it can be established. We can't automatically assume the congregations had known about this. Further investigations would have to be conducted. If it can be proven they knew about the abuses, then let the WT organization pay dearly through lawsuits.

The borg will hide any evidence as usual. They now shred any notes obtained during questioning of an accused pedophile and put the innocent victims through more abuse by interrogating them behind closed doors. Some congregation elders allow the abuser, if he is an elder to even interrogate his victim who calls them a liar and puts words in their mouth. Victims are forced to give explicit details of the encounters they have with abusers and are often accused of enticing the victim and enjoying it. I highly doubt anyone will ever be able to fully expose what really goes on behind closed doors of any congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. I was a witness for 40 years and still have family in. They are an evil, controlling ,money and power hungry cult.

The Jehovah's Witnesses live in their own social bubble, where everyone is encouraged to check on others' behavior, and report to the leaders, but not to government authorities. It is difficult for other members of the community not to know what is happening. Abusers, particularly those high ranking in the community, know they will be protected by the leaders, so some will also report their own behavior. Often it's a case of showing some remorse, and that's enough.
Also, Jehovah's Witnesses have 'two witness' rule. A victimized child can report CSA, but if a second person doesn't come forward as having witnessed the assault, Jehovah's Witness leaders will consider it unverified and drop the case as if it didn't happen. The Jehovah's Witnesses have a massive database with all the graphically detailed testomonies. This information came to light in the Australian Royal Commission.

      Dear PERCEIVE,
With so many individuals involved in committing so many crimes and so many victims being victimized multiple times it is improbable that others, both in and out of positions of cult authority, did NOT know what was transpiring.
As more and more cases are brought before the civil authorities it is becoming more and more evident that only those in Watchtower congregations who are willingly blind are unaware of the exploding scandal of child sexual abuse.

@@georgesotiroff5080 Thank you for the information. Pennsylvania has a high ratio of Catholics proceeded by other faiths that come below them in membership. The highest sexual abuses being within the Catholic church and the Mormon church. Doing research the Watchtower organization has it's share in sexual abuse activity also. All of the three share one thing in common apart from doctrinal teachings is they are strong (lobbyists) against law changes in reporting sexual abuses to secular authorities. They have been able to derail law changes to reporting abuses to the authorities. Most JW'S, if not all, are unaware of the lobbying their church (legal side) are engaged within the courts to prevent this change to law. Why would this be? It all boils down to money, if they are required ( the 3 mentioned in particular) by law too report abuse this would open a wave of personal lawsuits that could conceivable bankrupt the corporation side of them. God does not come into the picture here and protecting his name. It does if its leader's say it does and the followers believe this, that would instill a distorted fear of God and what displeases him. This is called legalism in religion. This appears too to be the case within the Watchtower organization, it's leaders that issue church dogma to follow, they appear to have a very tight grip on it's members of does and don'ts, that's called legalism. But thats not what I'm focusing on regarding my comment and no bias intended against jehovahs wittinesss. There is a very interesting article on the state of Pennsylvania and it's current laws on reporting abuses, I can’t post the actual address on TH-cam so you would have to paste and copy (Clergy in 33 states are exempt from laws requiring professionals such as teachers, physicians and psychotherapists to report information about alleged child abuse to police or child welfare officials) look for that statement to get to the article, it's a current article, it's not a religious article but a information article regards this subject. Again thanks for your reply.
