That ending was such a good bit! I appreciate that you went through all the trouble to stand up the pool, fill it, hitch to the trailer, use the tow rig to drop the boat in--all just to give the audience a good chuckle. You're an American hero!
Yeah I agree I’ve been watching TH-cam videos (automotive) for years and found your page couple of months ago and have learned more from you than anyone else. Thanks! Wired my first car from watching your videos.
I saw the thumbnail of the video and said, that would be something my dad would have done when he was alive. Then I watched it... Dude, you look a lot like my dad did 25 years or so ago. You both have similar skills in inventive engineering, and similar senses of humor. Just by you being you, I was reminded of many times spent with him tinkering on all things mechanical.
I did comment once before that you must have a lot of time on your hands but now I'll just call it an extended childhood, we could all probably benefit from a little more of that, it seems harmless enough. Thanks again for your time mate. If I ever get to your country I think I'll hide round the corner so I can see what you get up to when you think no one's looking, I guarantee that's when the really fun stuff happens. Keep enjoying yourself and please get as much as you can on camera. Bye now.
Yeah those exhaust fumes will get you dizzy every time 😂 yeah not only in excellent mechanic you're also a comedian, when's your comedy special going to be coming out? Keep up the good work dude 👍☮️🇺🇲
Engineers design for non-removable, non replaceable because mostly they don't work on the stuff. You can get some locking surgical pliers (forceps ?) For cheap at local flea market or internet. They come either straight or curved on the end. I didn't have any when I worked on electronic equipment for many years, so I had to use spit on the end of my finger to remove or replace inaccessible small parts, and sometimes light grease. I had a meter on one model that had two mounting nuts inside on two screws about four inches long. Had to remove and replace those nuts with a screwdriver about 6" long and a hammer to loosen them. So have your hands reduced in size or get some forceps. Good videos. God bless.
Only other draw back to getting dizzy from. The fumes 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Is The oil tan lotion film on the water from the 2 stroke oil . Your wife will love the skin benefits 😜
Silicone lube for rubber impellars. The only way to ensure that your replacement impellar will not disintegrate over time. Rubber is dissolved by petrochemical lubricants.
Looked like kfc gravy coming out of that lower unit .. I love watching your channel because you do things so practically like 90% of people really do with the way you get things fixed. If you really want to have fun in the middle class you have to do it with a budget in mind.
When I saw the first run it was like my 6 HP Merc because I put a Merc thermostat in. When the engine warms up, the thermostat opens and I get a good solid flow. I put thermostat on because I fish a lot in a cold lake at 9000 f(Big Lake Az). I hear a lot of whine. Lower unit roller bearing may be rusted up.
@@lutherchastain9880 They're all the same. Do you not know this fact, boy? Do you not understand that it is the exact same design used under licence? Do you not know that companies put their name on products made by other companies? Do you know anything or do you just open your stupid uneducated American mouth and just spout crap?
I went to mmi marine mechanics motorcycle mechanics institute and i dont remember this corse or that operating system but thanks i def needed the refresher course lol
For lubricating the impellers, I always use Silicone Grease, in fact I use it for everything rubber related. It really stays for a long time too, even with water going through it. I've got a question too, what 3D design program do you use with your PLA printer?
That's what I said to my hubby, which is why he's glad the wife's away...hilarious stuff. Love his skills, tho'. Nothing nicer than a man who not only knows how to fix stuff, but actually does it ❤️ Mine does, but we both are admiring your stock of parts & know-how. Amazing! Thx!
I'm pretty sure there's suppose to be a steady-stream of water coming out when it's running, and you shouldn't run one without that steady-stream of water, even for a little while, well that's what I was told years ago about bigger outboards anyway, IDK if this applies to these smaller ones or not, I can't believe that you had that whole thing apart, and didn't even put new seals in the lower-unit, it's just going to fill-up with water again, and then bust the lower-unit whenever it gets cold out, (ask me how I know), now this may not apply to you, but that "test-drive" sure left a lot to be desired, lol.
The Unscheduled engagement in to Ahead will mean that the Dog clutches and neutral detent require attention wash out the Lower Gearcase with mineral spirit and check the seal where the gearshift rod enters the Case..the main prop seal is likely deficient as well.
Heavy animal fat is nice to use on the waterpump, it won't heat up easily as long ad the engine aren't run dry.. And it sticks like crazy... Maybe re apply every 2 years after, like you are supposed to do... And since it's animal fat /Lard, it's not releasing pollution into the water either...
well now after watching this I'm not as Intimidated to work on some smaller boats always just thought they were more difficult not having water for it to test
Really admire your confidence, taking it right out into the middle with no idea of the fuel range.
*"I'm sure this a good idea... luckily my wife is at work!'*
*The moto-explorer's mantra.*
Hahahaha.. luv it!
The lengths you go to so we can explore and learn from science.....is very commendable!
Yes, that's why I do this stuff, for "science" :)
how in the hell does this channel not have WAY more subs?

“Remind me to fix that soon” sounds just like me and my dad!!🤣🤣 All of your content is absolute gold sir!
Thanks, glad you enjoy it!

Thank you! Some days I'm really glad the world works the way it does.
It looks like you are having fun, so you must be doing it right. 👍👍
Vaseline works, I normally use marine wheel bearing grease and lube up everything. Especially the thread on the bolts, makes it easier for next time.
LMBO! You really put that boat in a 15ft plastic pool! :-) You really have a thing for doing donuts.
The pool, for the WIN!
Excellent video! Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much!

Perfect episode
Your drive to the boat launch is a case of going the long way around the barn to get to the front door
Being your neighbor would be fun..non stop entertainment 😅😅😅😅😅
You sir have zero percent OCD and 100 percent can do 😂
Keep up the good work
Good work. Another good video
Thanks!
Rumors have already started to circulate that they are coming out with a part II. Water skiing

All this time I've been putting my dinghy in the pool the hard way! I gotta get me a half track boom truck.

I tho't of that one, too...You really need your wife around to keep things sane, hahaha
Nicely done
Thanks!
You two are my favorite! Now I'm daydreaming what kind of mechstrosity you'd made together!

I'm female but I knew that one...just couldn't say it as accurate as you!
Livin' the dream...
Hysterical !
Excellent, right off the nut scale, you da man. Cheers.
haha your funny great work keep content coming thank you
Someone needs to make a gif of you spinning around lmao
Another great video from NZ
Love this whole video, one thing missing
The song
"YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND BABY, RIGHT ROUND"
I am way late to this party, but great video!
Hey that's a new Disney water ride. LOL!
Nice boat ⛵
He's in New Mexico! He don't need no stinkin' Dramamine! 🤣⭕🚤
So much fun for under $100!
Pretty sure you’d be a dead man walking if you hit that liner with the prop. 😀
That would have been great to watch!!
great video as usual... love seeing all the cool toys... 👍 👌
Thanks!
I always used KY on my rubber, it doesn't swell.

Good thing you had the oars for backup. You could have been stranded if the motor failed!
😆 great video 👍
Thank you!
That's actually a nice pool
Best day at the lake ever
Yep about normal with those kickers. Gotta love your extent of testing!
Love it
I always use marine lube. it stays mostly separated from any water .
Great vid got a bit dizzy watching lol 😂😂👍

Much appreciated!
You must get a lot of eye rolling from the family 🤣🤣
man i'd love to see that on open water i bet it tonks! since its such a small boat with an 11hp engine
I'm only a year late, but... you can print in rubberised PLA, so you can actually print those as soft rubber grommets for later on. :)
It's also a Mariner 4hp or a 5hp Yamaha depending on the jetting.
I've had a 2004 model from new.
no, its a jhonson wtf

You wouldn’t have to use stainless steel washers for the propeller. You could also use nylon washers. Yes it will wear but it’s easy to change it out.
Best channel
😎👍🇺🇸
Same thing happens to me riding my RG500 powered Honda NSR MC21.
The two stroke smell makes me feel funny.😈
When the wife gets home from work you now can take her on an evening cruse.
Lubriplate 105 works well for the impeller.
Seems like a good way to get chopped into a million pieces when that thing gets away from ya! 🤣🤣
I went to mmi marine mechanics motorcycle mechanics institute and i dont remember this corse or that operating system but thanks i def needed the refresher course lol
That to cool!!..
I'm a touch disappointed that you went boating without a life vest. ("Made it").
Add soap powder and clothes, boom!
Lolololz got me going on that one
Outboards are easier to work on, compared to a 4-stroke Lawnmower Engine.
9/10times it is a fuel/carburetor problem...
Awesome

I've been using Solidworks since the 90's, so I go with that. There are probably better programs out there now, but I'm used to this one.
Did you remember to clean the bottom intake filter?
If you can come up with a burgee with a desert cactus on it you could start your own yacht club
Onward to more adventures...
😊😊 time to wake the child labor and get them earning their keep 🤣🤣
4 months on. Did you do the stainless prop spacer install? Take care
Meme Worthy.:That moment the prop touches the liner...

have you tried printing with TPU? it's rubber like type
I haven't, but just looked it up after you mentioned it. Looks like a neat material, I'll have to give it a try!
26:18, good idea yes, bad execution, you forgot the full beer cooler and the fishing gear
You're closer to the water than I am and I'm in Michigan where you're never more than 6 miles from a body of fresh water from anywhere in the state.
Well yeah, but you were parked way over on the opposite shore!!!!!
Ha Ha Ha ... The USS Nimitz is launched 🤣🤣🤣

You're gonna need a bigger boat! You are shamefully under subscribed, you make great videos
Thanks, I appreciate that!
So is it a two-stroke or a 4-stroke engine?
Two-stroke
Nylon or brass trust washer
Is there anything you cant fix?
Brilliant just brilliant thanks 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
🤟
🖖
Your neighbor is doing what, in the pool with a what? A 5 HP engine?
WOW. $50
Lucky My Wife's in Work!! FAF

You don't need a whole lot of water. Those rectangular plastic storage tubs they sell at walmart work well, too.
@@LowBuckGarage never thought of that either thanks
Nutcase🤦😆
I would use a silicon grease rather than Vaseline
Use dish soap, lubes it and then washes out
The motor is almost too heavy for the boat
