They are full of great detail and they are easy to comprehend, u break them down into simpler easier steps, which results in myself and many other learners becoming better drivers on the road, as a result of your videos, i passed my driving test there today, it was my second attempt and I only got 2 marks against me, I want to say thanks so much again for your great videos, they are of great help to me and many others, thanks again Dane!

    Interesting one here: In Poland you start off the uphill actually not engaging you hand brake, but only the foot one, and you may fail if your car rolls off a bit, this is the way you were taught in driving schools back in 90's and 20's, and I'm pretty sure it's still the same way nowadays. I guess it differs from country to country. Keep up your great work Dane!

    Thanks so much for your videos, Dane! They're really helpful! I've just one question. When you apply the handbrake say at the traffic lights - do you stay in the first gear and keep your feet on the clutch and the brake or go into neutral and release the footbrake altogether or... basically the question is what do you do with your feet and the gears? Thanks a lot in advance!

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +anonymousbrian thank you 😊 if you're at lights you should wait in first gear with the clutch in and right foot ready over the gas. But if you are further back in the queue, say about fourth or fifth or more back then it is fine to wait in neutral with all feet away from the pedals. I always advise being ready in first gear if at or near the top of the queue.

      @@DaneTygheletsdrive question, as you start to move, and release the handbrake do you lift your foot off the clutch and start giving gas at the SAME time that you're releasing the handbrake? I think that's what he was inquiring, I also have confusion concerning the handbrake, thank you
      I always thought that was done for people that couldn't quite get the bite with the clutch in first gear on a hill, but apparently you need to learn how to use the handbrake anyway and will be asked on the test to do this

    I have a question, plz. When turning right and stopping for on coming cars ..say there were two cars, should I use the handbrake?? What about when stopping at roundabout?? Again assume there are many cars and we are waiting ..should we use the handbrake?? Thank you very much

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. You should use the handbrake if you are stopping over 4 or 5 seconds.

    Thank you for the videos. I’m just wondering if the hand break rules are also required to be followed for driving an automatic car, especially during the driving test.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There would be less need to use the handbrake in general in an automatic driving test, but I would recommend using it on a hill, at lights or if stopped over 5 or 6 seconds. The main thing in a handbook is to watch out for the car creeping when in D gear.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Short answer - yes. Long answer it's not really important but I usually recommend pressing the button for most of the uplift but not at the very top because I think it helps to secure the car better if you don't use the button near the end

      @DaneTygheletsdrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it drains the battery 😂 I'm not sure if this is a joke or not but my advice is to make sure that your handbrake is fully up every time you leave the car.

    Hi Dane, is there any problem if there is a sound( which is normal if we don't press the lock) while pulling up the handbrake ?? I was told that we must press the lock while pulling the handbrake so that there is no sound that can irritate the tester.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some testers may be sensitive to the sound of the handbrake but there is no special rule on this.

    Liked and subscribed. Btw I have one question to ask. I remember someone told me to apply for break as he activated it. Does that means the car goes straight back or something as I activate it? Also if not then how to make my car go straight back? Thanks a lot.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Parampreet Singh Sudan what exactly do you mean? Are you referring to reversing?

    • @parampreetsinghsudan8056
      @parampreetsinghsudan8056 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dane Tyghe Yup he said something like it would start to get straight backwards if I activate handbreak and that's why he told me to keep my foot on break before he actually activated it.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Parampreet Singh Sudan who activated it? A driving instructor?

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Parampreet Singh Sudan I'm not really sure what you are saying but it could be a parking brake that is like a button on more modern cars. Be careful about listening too much to so called experienced drivers, they might mean well but often they come out with myths and tend to have bad habits. As the old saying goes - Just because you shot Jesse James doesn't mean you are Jesse James.

      Avoid coasting by lifting the clutch, change gear by braking and put clutch in, change gear, come off clutch slowly.

  • @maypadventures964
    @maypadventures964 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    just a question, when youre waiting on red light and about to go green, do you put 1st gear then handbrake down or otherway around? also how bout when approaching the traffic light considering its red, do you put the handbrake first then neutral or otherway around?

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Keith Fitzsimons that entirely depends on the situation, if there's a danger that you may roll back you should use the handbrake. If there's no danger of roll back and you're only stopped a short time then there's probably no need for the handbrake.
