Sarvesh chande it's because you immerse yourself more fully into a game than a movie, you are the "protagonist" in the game while in the movie you just watch people get persecuted or scared, while in a game you are the one being persecuted and scared.

+Harrison Ressler Uh, those Days never really changed that much at all?! Last big major Title that you can address as 'Horror' and with bigger Publisher Support was like Evil Within. Still with minor Impact. That's another Problem. People doesn't know what they want anymore. But also because there was so much already. The Understanding of 'horror' became highly individual over the Years imo. It's hard to make something new and with enough classic Mechanics that not only pleases the general Public but also that handful and complaining Genre-Enthusiasts that are still stuck in the golden Era of the 90's/early 00's, that doesn't want to move on with a newer, fresher, more timely Approach. But be patient, as the Resi 2 Remake is just on its Way...
Don't forget about the Outlast. That was a good horror game and probably better then evil within

But in a game like this, an atmospheric horror game, the graphics (or atleast the lighting) should create the suitable atmosphere.

looks like PT set the new standard for quality horror games. first PT, then allison road and now this. just like amnesia set the model for the horror video games of the past few years with the running and hiding without being capable of self defense, now we have psychological horror set inside houses with narrow hallways, corners and jumpscares. it's quite fun to watch how things evolve over the years.

i just love how the person control his/her camera.
every moves he/she made showed a lot of emotions without a single use of voice or facial expression. the way the person immediately turn towards the direction of noises, anxiously look behind or even stare at something, which expressed fear, concern and curiosity. the act of looking around not only express emotions, but also shows the audience the full detail of the game so that they are aware of the environment which improves the atmosphere, and consequently, improving the gameplay.
many of the gameplay footages lack this kind of sensation which is the core of presenting a gameplay, this one, however, did a very good job on that.
either the person was playing this the first time or was very good at camera acting, i'd say i enjoy this footage on the extreme because it feels like i am in this real situation.

DJreject101 Yes, but that studio only focuses on survival horror. They should branch out to a different types of horror genres like rpg, Stalker, or action horror like Grey, Cry of Fear and Afraid of Monsters which are well done horror mods for Half Life 1 and 2.

+Hawkeye0725 honestly allison road wasn't as effectively tense or creepy for me. i don't remember a whole lot from the gameplay, but i remember there being a few lame scares here and there that really didn't do much for me. i liked the fact that you can go outside too, but at the same time theres something about being confined to a single house that builds more tension and claustrophobia. they both look good but i personally feel this one a little more.

P.T. was just a tech demo, not related to the whole game, Silent Hills, and a lot of games took inspiration from It. Just imagine how good could have been Silent Hills. It was supposed to be not just a revindication of the series, but a masterpiece. I hope Death Stranding to be really good.

it's because they're a small studio being funded by kickstarter, there's no guarantee like with big well established developer funding the project.
+vampurile Allison Road developer was making the game on his own house until a good studio offered help, when the game got cancelled he kept working at home until another good investor came, a proof you don't really need a lot of money and people to make a great game, just to put your heart into it, a lot of patience and a shitload of effort

To see Hideo Kojimas influence with only a demo on a whole genre of gaming is astounding. Metal Gear defined stealth games and now P.T. has defined horror games too.

In my comment I was simply pointing out that this game shares so much with A.R that it almost seems as though they are the same game. I never criticized the graphics quality or design of the game. For example the audio quality is something to be worked on as well as some of graphical hiccups(mirrors and windows mostly). Both games have their merits but i am afraid the "p.t style game" is going to become the next horror trend, like the "slender clone" before it.

This is an alpha beta version after all. For an alpha this does look remarkable. Yeah this game does look like alice and alice looks like silent hills. Its a never ending cycle when it comes down to comparison. The main point is this is nowhere near close as alice or silent hills. Yes all three games requires you to walk around in a house to search for clues while avoiding being killed. Just like any horror flick. The only similarity that these three have in common is that they share the three basic components that a horror game should have; survival, eery environments, overall quality production to make virtuality into close reality. Alice is just a conception of any scary game genre in the video game industry today. Whether that would be amnesia, silent hills, siren, resident evil, and many more. Its the graphics thats what catches the peoples eye because it looks almost too real and to top it off the developer decides to throw these high quality graphics into horror genre games. But the same concept of trying to survive, finding clues, being stalkes by a ghost, monster, etc still remains in its category. Please read your comment again and hopefully you didnt take my response too seriously. The irony.

I’ve played the official twice now and it’s great and scary but this version seems scarier. The lack of the sanity hub makes the paranormal activity more unpredictable. This version seems more minimalist and the music is scarier imo.
