The fact that the AWM made a shot at 2,475 meters is already insane enough. The fact that that record has been broken twice, and thay the new record is 3,540 meters is even more insane.
Correction: A good sniper is terrifying. A great spotter is unknown and leaves no survivors. I think its very unfair that they listed the guy with the longest kill but not his spotter, and that person would be responsible for the marking and calculation of coriolis effect that made the kill possible
@Alexis Lloyd Alinan Arctic Warfare is in Mw3 as the L118A, the Precision Marksman in Black Ops as the L96A1 & the Arctic Warfare Magnum in Ghosts as the L115
There is SOME truth for bolt action weapons doing more damage. In a semi-automatic rifle, some of the bullet's power goes to cycling the next shot, so a bullet will have less overall velocity coming out of the barrel. However, this difference is mild, and pales to comparison to the effect of the gun's caliber.
The only reason bolt action rifles are still used today is better shot consistency (automatics load the next round as the bullet is moving, so the gun is already shaking before the bullet leaves the muzzle which lowers the accuracy), giving the user the choice when to extract (so evidence is easier to get rid of) and lower weight compared to semi-automatics of the same calibre.
Apatthetic Man I daresay that there are some countermeasures in place in more modern semi-automatice snipers rifles, but I recall hearing that a bolt action was preferred due, as you mentioned, you can choose when to extract the round, but the reason for that being that a shell casing is a shiny moving object when automatically ejected, while when removing it by hand it can be discretely pocketed.
notbobby125 the velocity shouldn't be effected it the design is put wel..most rifles don't have that...and little to no effect overall...the M-1 firing the M-2 ball has the same velocity of M-1903 of the same caliber. not a whole lot of truth really....
"ill-suited for close quarters battle: but of course, there are still some who'll try" (as long as they are under the age of 12 and think quickscoping takes skill)
It depends on how fast you are with a bolt action. Häyhä was fast due to intense training and years of hunting experience. Almost every other soldier with a bolt action couldn't pull that kind of speed as Häyhä
There's nothing more satisfying in a game in my mind, than just releasing a round on an exhale and just hitting that perfect headshot from a nearby cliff.

This is a great place to put a nice tidbit of information: As they mentioned in this video, the AWP (Arctic Warfare Police) comes with "plain black furniture" or grey/dark grey coloring, unlike the regular AW, which comes with the military green coloring. So, when you're playing CS:GO, feel free to still call it an AWP, but remember that VALVe's employees aren't quite as smart as they think they are, and they have mis-named one of the game's most famous rifles. This is why I bought an Elite Build AWP and named it the "Anti-Misnomer", as it's nearly entirely black, save for the decoration.
gafeht How do you pronounce the AW sound? To answer your question, yes, most native English speakers will refer to it as the "auhp". Some Europeans that speak English as a second language will say "A V P" because the W in their language is a V, such as in French. However, since CS:GO's AWP is actually an AW, I pronounce it by saying the letters rather than the sound. Unless, of course, I pick up my AWP, which is an actual AWP.
update if anyone wants: the new longest sniper kill was done by a canadian special forces sniper from 3540 metres, killing an IS operator .The unnamed soldier who killed the IS militant used a McMillan TAC-50 sniper rifle, from an elevated position.
I don't think these videos are necessarily about the games. More about weapon history and depiction of the weapon in the game. Plus I don't know if BF series has bot mode where you can fight against AI because it would take quite awhile to unlock a lot of the BF weapons.
ProKosovich True but if you've got around a week to produce a video (not all your time in the week will be spent producing the video) are you going to waste valuable time ranking up and unlocking a weapon, then getting clips for that weapon. I personally wouldn't. If I had it unlocked or it was one of the few games that featured a weapon I was covering I'd do it but since so many games have the variants of this weapon, your time can be spent doing other things. I mean I counted around 3 or 4 major titles: Counter Strike CoD (multiple titles) Team Fortress 2 and I believe it did have one BF title, BF2 but I don't know if that's still classed as a major title. I think the video was well produced and it had a good mix of popular titles to lesser know titles.
ProKosovich But why waste time unlocking online when you can just demonstrate the weapon's function in a private lobby where everything is already unlocked?
well, he only has one technically as one shot would have to beat out the other one, but he is the only soldier afaik to have beaten the record not once but twice
Panther And that was just updated, the Canadians now have the longest confirmed sniper kill, on an ISIS member. They were probably using a C17 Timberwolf, unfortunately for our dear AWM.
4:26 Well if this is so Stu. Why didn't you showcase the L96 in Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4? In both games Sniping requieres far more skill than pretty much every other game and it's mostly only possible on range.
SuperDeadNoob Are you serious? A sniper that will reward you a oneshot from the hip and upwards? Surely that takes less skill than in Battlefield where you MUST hit a headshot, account for bullet speed, drop, supression AND Flinch. And how much of this is there in Counterstrike? Not saying all this makes BF3&4 better, CS is still the by far best FPS out there, but if you use the AWP right in CS your foes don't stand much chance. And no point ever mentioning a simulator in this discussion.
+Yazolight The NATO Phonetic alphabet (there are other phonetic alphabets too) uses unique words to replace letters in radio communication. when given a string of these words you take the first letter of the words to get the letter communicated (such as Alpha, which represents A; Bravo for B, Charlie for C and so on.) for example; if I said on radio; 'Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo' - my message is; 'F.U.C.K.' since the words are standardised and unique for each letter, those who know the phonetic alphabet can understand what the sender is saying even if parts of each word is lost to radio interference because in the example above you might only hear me say on radio; ....trot Unif.... Charl.... ..ilo However you can still determine what I my message was because no other NATO phonetic words sound like that. Basically he used the Phonetic alphabet to spell out X (X-ray) A (Alpha) which is the Acronym/Initials for Xbox Ahoy.
+Fighter_jet210 Price is also just a common name.. but Captain Price was in the original CoD ._. which came out 2 years before bf2. Not that it matters too much.
You should take a look at Valkyria Chronicles 1, at the early, developt and Imperial Rifles, Sniper Rifles and Assault Rifles. They look kinda awesome, and I wonder if they took their design from something realistic. :D
Update! L115A3 is no longer the weapon with longest range kill, that title has returned to the McMillan Tac-50 at 3540 m ( in 2002 two Canadian snipers made same day records of 2310m and 2430m, both with the Tac-50 in Afghanistan, then a third Canadian in 2017 with the Tac-50 in Iraq at 3540 m) The Tac-50 has 3 of the top 5 longest confirmed kills.

It's a video game so most people don't give a shit. Let's be honest not many people know guns in real life
Shigani Kanaki
I don't care if people don't give a shit. That's why it's trivia.
RockLegend2 to be honest I'd much rather this name than another. AWP rolls off the tongue so easily. It sounds much better than AWM or Artic Warfare
The letter W kinda ruins the whole rolling off the tongue thing. Or do people pronounce it "auhp"? I don't speak guns.
gafeht
How do you pronounce the AW sound? To answer your question, yes, most native English speakers will refer to it as the "auhp". Some Europeans that speak English as a second language will say "A V P" because the W in their language is a V, such as in French.
However, since CS:GO's AWP is actually an AW, I pronounce it by saying the letters rather than the sound. Unless, of course, I pick up my AWP, which is an actual AWP.
Ahoy: this weapon is very recognizable
Me: Ah yes. The critically acclaimed gun. I heard shoots things
“This was really just a formality to make sure you weren’t three guys in a shed”
I can't stop watching these! You've got to make a tv show!
In TF2 the awp is called the awper hand like upper hand.
Oh my fucking god i never realised that >_>
I prononce it "Hoper hand" tho
Vej why?
...
The AWP's appearance in TF2 makes no sense. The game itself is set in the 60s-70s while the AWP was designed and manufactured in the 90s.
update if anyone wants: the new longest sniper kill was done by a canadian special forces sniper from 3540 metres, killing an IS operator .The unnamed soldier who killed the IS militant used a McMillan TAC-50 sniper rifle, from an elevated position.
I can’t stop watching these vids I love them
I just realised you've been on TH-cam for 6 years
9
lol
why do you never show bf4?
He said the launch issues are too much of a problem back then. And now, it's a bit too late
I mean I counted around 3 or 4 major titles:
Counter Strike
CoD (multiple titles)
Team Fortress 2
and I believe it did have one BF title, BF2 but I don't know if that's still classed as a major title.
I think the video was well produced and it had a good mix of popular titles to lesser know titles.
BF4 doesn't have any of the AW rifles.
ProKosovich But why waste time unlocking online when you can just demonstrate the weapon's function in a private lobby where everything is already unlocked?
This guy can tell me about the history of glass and still have me hooked all the way through.
I love your videos. Thank you sir for sharing this knowledge.
Technically Craig Harrison has the two longest confirmed sniper kills as he took out two Taliban insurgents with consecutive shots
well, he only has one technically as one shot would have to beat out the other one, but he is the only soldier afaik to have beaten the record not once but twice
Panther
And that was just updated, the Canadians now have the longest confirmed sniper kill, on an ISIS member. They were probably using a C17 Timberwolf, unfortunately for our dear AWM.
Shorty Shorty go Canada!
Shorty Shorty The Arctic Warfare will come back to claim the record, don't you worry

Made my day
5:45 I hope that was a Genuine...
Really happy to see AssaultCube footage, one of the first games I ever played, if not the first.
Ah man this takes me back to nostalgia trip back to 2003 with obscure games like Devastation and Chaser that both featured AWP
Hey, Ahoy? You see that like-dislike ratio? The Views? Please, do this more, your wonderful voice is brilliant!
7:33 Sp00nerism, thats a name I never heard of in years
Paragonix well it was made 5 years ago
The transitions in this video is amazing
Ahoy, you never drop a video for quality, and facts. Amazing. Every. TIME!
4:26 Well if this is so Stu. Why didn't you showcase the L96 in Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4? In both games Sniping requieres far more skill than pretty much every other game and it's mostly only possible on range.
Limited time budget. Not enough time to unlock the weapon in BF3. It's not even in BF4. Tell DICE to include a private botmatch with all unlocks!
XboxAhoy Actully Stu, it's in the China Rising DLC, as the L96A1.
Ah, not listed on IMFDB. No matter - I still don't have it unlocked!
Thats not true at all,you need more "skill" in CS,and BF 4 isnt even close to Arma 2 with Ace mod,so please dont talk shit if you dont know anything
"Throw your bolt handle at your enemy, and end him rightly" -the reason bolt actions deal more damage.
Why havent Any of the documentary channels grabbed you yet! That voice is of such high Calibre! Well done indeed sir!
Hearing you talk about the Beretta 50 cal would be a dream come true, especially after this episode
In the dozens of times i've watched this vid, i've never noticed that your name in csgo X-Ray Alpha. I have only just now saw what you did there...
What is it?
Ah I get it now lmao.
I still don't understand. Care to dumb it down for me please?
+Yazolight
The NATO Phonetic alphabet (there are other phonetic alphabets too) uses unique words to replace letters in radio communication. when given a string of these words you take the first letter of the words to get the letter communicated (such as Alpha, which represents A; Bravo for B, Charlie for C and so on.)
for example; if I said on radio; 'Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo' - my message is; 'F.U.C.K.'
since the words are standardised and unique for each letter, those who know the phonetic alphabet can understand what the sender is saying even if parts of each word is lost to radio interference because in the example above you might only hear me say on radio; ....trot Unif.... Charl.... ..ilo However you can still determine what I my message was because no other NATO phonetic words sound like that.
Basically he used the Phonetic alphabet to spell out X (X-ray) A (Alpha) which is the Acronym/Initials for Xbox Ahoy.
phinix250 aaaaah ok !!! Amazing explanation thanks a LOT
Wut at 4:49 the killfeed of BF2 says
"You killed J. Price"
So call of duty reference anyone?
+Fighter_jet210 Price is also just a common name.. but Captain Price was in the original CoD ._. which came out 2 years before bf2. Not that it matters too much.
+Fighter_jet210 Gaming but there was a john price in ww2
***** I'm imagining it now.
huh
Tf2 ma'am (just assuming and if you dislike tf2 you don't deserve life happiness and love).
this series is really interesting and fun to watch ❤️❤️❤️
Why am I just finding out about this channel, excellent presentation, great music, keep it up
5:26 there was one gun...the revolver
eyyyy Prick Skytts Gevär 90
Hi
0:18 should have gone with "you might not have a spine left to chill"
The Arctic Warfare, a point and click adventure game.
6:58 *Laughs in Krunker’s turn “turn off scope borders” pption*
You should take a look at Valkyria Chronicles 1, at the early, developt and Imperial Rifles, Sniper Rifles and Assault Rifles.
They look kinda awesome, and I wonder if they took their design from something realistic. :D
Artic Warfare is such a cool name for a weapon
It's so refreshing seeing Battlefield 2 gameplay in your videos
I like how you showed Battlefield 2 and War Inc, but didn't show Arma 2 lol.
Update! L115A3 is no longer the weapon with longest range kill, that title has returned to the McMillan Tac-50 at 3540 m ( in 2002 two Canadian snipers made same day records of 2310m and 2430m, both with the Tac-50 in Afghanistan, then a third Canadian in 2017 with the Tac-50 in Iraq at 3540 m)
The Tac-50 has 3 of the top 5 longest confirmed kills.
Still out of the top ten and top 5 longest kills, the awm is the only non 50 cal
AHH that delta force task force dagger gameplay though! Thanks for including it haha
3:40 I imagine the sniper that did this looking around with binoculars with a buddy and saying "you see that guy?" his friend responds "barely, why?" "bet you I can hit him" "bullshit" "observe"
