Visited Ithaca for the first time last week. I had to drive through Cornell. I. Sent my daughter a few pictures , including comstock hall. She sent me an Andy meme back..
Pam tries very hard to be liked. She even claims that she doesn't like the thought of Al Qaeda not liking her. Thats some strong people pleasing qualities. So when she is being very confrontational its disorientating to watch. I felt uncomfortable watching her in this and the episode where she is upset with Michael Scott over him dating her mother. Its not that she doesn't have good reason to be confrontational, but shes goes from 0-60, the viewer isn't subject to the transitions, so it makes Pam seem out of character and I think her character loses relatability during such episodes. I think someone with such strong people pleasing skills would feel guilt/regret over lashing out, and we dont see those in between or built up stages.
Pam gets a lot of hate for this story arc about her support (or lack thereof) for Jim in pursuing his dream job. I can understand that Jim wanted to show his business partners that he was all in, but if my spouse had committed $10K in a situation where it clearly didn't need to be done, I'd be upset, too. Chris makes a good point that Pam is conservative, which I think is to be expected from a parent of 2 small children who wants to make sure that Jim doesn't risk a steady paycheck for an unproven business venture. She tried her luck with pursuing her dream of pursuing an art career and failed. Then she tried going into sales, and failed at that, too. So with as much faith as she might have in Jim, she knows that success isn't a sure thing. The audience is reminded of that with the sudden news that Andy's parents lost their money.

Betterhelp is a terrible company but i can kinda forgive Chris for taking them on as a sponsor since he’s a small independent content creator who won’t get many opportunities like this one 🤷🏻♀️. Though I do think that larger content creators with more sponsorship opportunities should not accept their offers since they don’t necessarily need it
I found Jim’s $10k investment offer cringe. Judging by the city center office space and modern decor, the company clearly had a lot of investment already, and 10k (even back then) would be more like their stationery budget.
And I'm already thinking about watching the complete series AGAIN. I did it february... Maybe I watch it in english this time. Watched 3-4 times in german and only once in english
Your story about pumpkin Dwight reminded me of something that happened to me a few years ago. I went to my aunt and uncle's for dinner wearing a dunder Mifflin paper company shirt. I had been struggling to get a steady job and they thought it was a real company, even when I told them it was from the office, they didn't know it was a tv show. They're not big tv people like my family are. They just watch sports and the many VHS tapes and DVDs they have
What bugs me about the Jim and Pam thing here is while Jim should maybe have not gone all in on this when he had a way out, Pam did ok it but then kept pushing when Jim said he had invested. "You had to? They made you do it?" Like if you had a problem with it, why not say so during the discussion?
She clearly did say how much she was comfortable with when they discussed it at home, there just weren't camera crews there. In the dialogue that we do see it is clear that Pam was *just barely* comfortable with how much he was planning to put in. Don't forget that if this company goes under it could have major impacts on their life/finances for many many years to come. And it's by no means a sure bet.
@@raspar6 Oh I get it. Like Chris, I can't imagine ever having ten thousand dollars available to invest in something. And because of that I'm sitting here thinking, "Jim, they said you didn't need to put anything in, but if you want to, go low." Both of them leave this episode looking kind of bad.
@@pendragon2012 Yeah, I can't imagine having 100 dollars to invest in something hah... The economy sure was different back then! I think what they were going for with this episode was that she was bottling up her frustration trying to be reasonable, and cool, and supportive, but ultimately it was one too many things and all of the stress and uncertainty of this gamble of Jim's came spilling out at an inappropriate time. Like that's what I got from it, though re-reading the script now I see how it could be read the other way too. Like if you were on vacation with your family and suddenly there was an emergency and everyone had to get home right away, one person might say "well, we'll spend what we need to to get home, this is important," but they still might be very upset if you bought a $10,000 plane ticket when a $1,000 plane ticket was available, you know? I think that's where Pam is.
I wonder if that point at the end, about his parents going broke, was meant to raise the stakes with Athlead - After all, people have gone broke over a lot less!
Also I just realized that Andy's arch in general is like a shadow version of Jim's - Andy does all kinds of crazy things in this season and eventually goes off to be an actor - either serving to make Jim's "leap" seem more realistic by comparison, or showing what that "grass is always greener" mindset could lead to if unchecked...
Where does it specify Cerebus? That's totally random but , sadly, also fits Dwight's character (look up creator Dave Sim's views on women ((or, better yet, don't)).
Two reasons.. 1) they have been found to advertise licenced therapists who do not have licenes or degrees in psychology / councilling 2) They worked with the Israeli government during their brutal and unnecesary violence in Gaza, contributing in both spreading the false narrative as well as aiding the country's government financially
The fact that this is a high point for Season 9 is depressing. It's decent but not great. Love the pumkin head bit,the costumes are fun, love seeing Colbert and some of the character moments are nice. And Meredith as Black Widow...not bad but yeah, I'm still mostly over the nonsense of the show up to this point. Also, the lack of consequence for anything the characters do is hilarious and annoying up to this point.
