I'm using these as my LCR mains, I have a real small theater room and young kid so I had to get rid of my bookshelves/center to free up all the floor space. I'm actually shocked how good they sound, granted you better have a subwoofer! It's a pleasant surprise how good the soundstage is in a space that is pretty much worst case scenario for a theater.
Great Video as always. I have 4 prime elevations for my height speakers. I used 2 of them as my front left and right for a while as the Prime Pinnacles were back ordered. I have been very happy with them.
Thx Ealan ... I in fact LOVE my full-range prime elevations *4..... The full bodied performance of my uppers complements my Def TechBP10 lower bed layer... Adds great realism makes you feel like you're there...
The Prime Elevations are great. They are simply high quality bookshelf speakers with the requisite 30 degree angle built into the cabinet itself, thus eliminating the need for either angled speaker stands or wall/ceiling mounts, thereby saving you both money and time on installation. A simple but incredibly versatile feat of engineering that only required a little bit of thought beforehand to come up with. Why other speaker manufacturers aren't doing the same thing is beyond me.
I am considering the SVS series, I currently have a 5.2.4 set up so I need 8 or 9 speakers if I include the center channel. My question….1. Do I buy 2 SVS bookshelf for left and right and 6 elevation speakers for my heights and rears, or all elevation speakers….2. Do the elevation and the bookshelf speakers have the same specs and can be used interchangeably.
The bookshelf speakers are going to be slightly better than the elevations. I would honestly start with the Prime Bookshelf Surround System, then add 4 Elevations, if it’s in your budget. 🤷♂️
I recently mounted 4 Prime Elevations on my ceiling and... WOW! Also have SVS Ultra bookshelf and center speakers up front, SVS Ultra Surrounds for the rear (wired for 11 channels), and a SVS SB-3000 Subwoofer in the corner. All being powered by a Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A8A. I'm a happy camper.
Great video. I have 2 R41sa's to the rear back. Until I can figure out wire strategy on blank wall I brought 2 more atmos down to earlier acting as my front wide left & right all bedlayer are R51m's. Thanks for advice
BTW my current set up for the 6 height speakers are ML Motion 4i and side-back surround is ML motion FX. Pls advise if the prime elevation speakers will improve the sound effect replacing the existing set up.Thank you
I haven't personally heard any of the ML speakers you mentioned, but since they're Martin Logans, I'd stick with that, since you're currently timbre-matched already, which should be anyone's goal to have all speakers the same brand. That and ML is a great brand, so no...I don't think there would be any improvement over your current setup getting the Prime Elevation speakers in place of your MLs. But you make your system sound the best YOU want, so if you're wanting better, or different, that's another story. :)
Would you recommend these over the Klipsch RP500SAs, @Ealan? Just wondering what the differences would be? I'm considering the two. But, have no idea which direction to go. I have a Klipsch system.. so, I'd like to go with the Klipsch.. but, not at the cost of a significant performance/versatility loss. Any chance you have any insights on the pros + cons of the two head to head? [I'm not looking for the countless variety of placement options that the SVSs offer. If I do buy a pair, I'll only use them as front height or side height (?)] Thanks in advance!
I don’t have much insight on the 500SA. The cheaper R-41SA weren’t all that great, but I know the 500SA have better parts and housing. Although I did read a comment from someone that said the 500SA weren’t much better than the R-41SA and they returned them. 🤷♂️ But if they’re being used as height speakers, I think you could still get away with using Prime Elevations with your other speakers being Klipsch. 👍
Probably THX recommended 80 Hz. Many Atmos speakers can’t go down to 80 Hz in their frequency response, so it’s nice to know the Prime Elevations can handle that and more.
My set up is ML LCR 40i and ESL C. Please advise if prime elevation speakers to be installed at the side, back surrounds and 6 height speakers will match my LCR. Thank you.
Which will be better for 4 atmos speaker on the wall, to the sides L and R or front and back? I am having a dilemma, I want the svs elevation to the side with my couch in the middle but I don't know if Front and Back is better... I am technically just trying to save speaker wire length plus I don't want to get front atmos to be muddle by the LCR on the 5.1.4 setup. Side or F&B??? please help.
Ideally you’ll want front and back, but at the same time, Auro 3D specifications has front heights and side heights for their immersive configurations. So in your case it just might prove to be best. 🤷♂️
My Klipsch rep sent me the R-41SA, but I sure would love to get my hands on the better 500SA. Those and any of the other more expensive options like KEF, etc. Hopefully someday soon!

What's everyone crossing these over at? I have pair of the rtiA9,lsim706c, svs pb 2000 pro, fxi a6 surrounds 5 svs height speakers all running through my Denon x6700h so 5.1.5
I like to keep as much low end energy coming out of my speakers as possible, and not leaving it all up to the subwoofer. So whatever the lowest frequency your speakers can handle, set the crossover somewhere between 10-20 Hz above that. So since the SVS Elevations can go down to 55 Hz, setting a crossover of 60 Hz might be too close for comfort - so I'd go somewhere between 65-75 Hz if possible within your AVR.
Nice and informative. Still a bit confused. If you can only do two elevations at the front is it worth doing and how high and wide from each other would they need to be for atmos use?
Yes! I think it’s still worth it. If you mount them high in the wall above your TV, it creates a “wall of sound.” An audible illusion that makes it seem like your TV is massive! 😄 And you don’t need to have them too wide. Usually in line with your left and right front speakers, or about 3-5 feet wider than your TV, depending on TV size, etc. 👍
@@ealanosborne Thanks mate. One more thing you might be able to help me with. Most 7 channel receivers these days don’t come with a full set of pre outs, which is a requirement for using external amps (like the BasX series). Great content as always Ealan! I have 4 elevation speakers (2 front heights, 2 rear heights) and I watched your video on Atmos and upmixing Auro 3D. For the 30 degree angle that's recommended for auro 3D, if I have these set high on the wall downfiring do I still need to get a mount to tilt them or is the natural downfiring position achieve the 30 degree angle?
Based on my research you want the speakers 30 degrees up, but you want them pointed just above ear level (more like 20 degrees for me but would depend on how far the speakers are) I used a laser to view where the speakers were pointing in regards to my listening area, added spacers on the bottom two screws on the mount and shimmed the speakers at the bottom with some foam to give them a 20 degree angle and thus perfect height effects even mounted up on the wall. For my rear heights being much closer, the default 30 degree was pretty much perfect.
Just found the channel, great content - keep up the good videos. I have a quick question - wanted to know if I can go for a front height and side rear setup with these.. the config will be 5.1.4. My rear speakers at ear level are already behind but mounted to the side due to room constraints.. so should I mirror the ground 2 front and 2 side at the ceiling level or go for side front and side rear with the 4 atmos ceiling speakers?
You want a square of around 8 feet and you are seated directly in the middle of it. Read the Dolby atmos guidelines. Your proposal is for those who refuse to do it properly. Have a good day!
Hmmmm...haven't tested it out personally, but it might work with Bi-pole, being more directional. Di-pole, no way, since it shoots it off in directions that the engineers didn't account for when mixing a movie, etc.
Hi all, i have klipsch reference R610F speakers for sale, i bought them to have a system in my apartment but by just seeing their box, i thought they would be very big to my room i terms of sound and also the size.
They may be good but I still think they are charging way too much for them 250.00 per speaker. You get a more capable speaker with their Prime bookshelf speakers and they are 300.00 per pair. I could see paying a bit of a premium for their versatility but not that much.
In the UK the Prime elevation are £550 per pair, and the Prime Bookshelf are £650 per pair. I plan on getting two pairs of Prime elevations for front and rear height channels. Driven by Emotiva BasX A3 amps, (the other 2 amp channels will drive my side surrounds)

If you like big sound, big speakers and THX certification, go with Monoprice. Klipsch RP series is fantastic. Much better than their reference series. But if you want a loyal customer service experience throughout your home theater journey, go with SVS. Their Prime speakers can hold their own, but I’d say their Ultra speakers are more on par with Klipsch RP. So they might be a little pricier to get started, but like I said - unbeatable customer service, advice, and help along the way. Whereas the other brands? You’re kind of on your own. Another brand with equally impressive customer service is Aperion Audio (which I have reviewed many of their speakers on my channel). 👍
There's too much miss Information here. Speaker placement Is based on angles from the listening position. Almost never do they belong on the side and front walls. Smallest of rooms only. My next theater my front atmos is on the ceiling as that's where the angles end up. Not on the front or side walls.

For my rear heights being much closer, the default 30 degree was pretty much perfect.
@@ViciousXUSMC thank you so much for the insight. I was thinking about getting mounts but I didn't know if it would be necessary.
I’m using the white elevation speakers as L and R channel and prime pinnacle centre
do you know if sony ss-cse atmos speakers have ceiling mount option?
I know it’s not recommended but what about bipolar or dipole for atmos to cause more atmospheric effects
Hmmmm...haven't tested it out personally, but it might work with Bi-pole, being more directional. Di-pole, no way, since it shoots it off in directions that the engineers didn't account for when mixing a movie, etc.
2:13 who's system is that?
Hi all, i have klipsch reference R610F speakers for sale, i bought them to have a system in my apartment but by just seeing their box, i thought they would be very big to my room i terms of sound and also the size.
I cannot ship and they are for pickup only, i live in Princeton,NJ.
Huh huh huh doodie! 😆 I could be mistaken but I am pretty sure the word duTy has a T in it .....try it dew ...tea not that difficult 😂🤣
R41 Sa 's Klipsch Speakers 🔊, By the Way I Also Have
They may be good but I still think they are charging way too much for them 250.00 per speaker.
Doody😁😂

New subscriber here trying to build my first HT. Saving up for the best bang for my buck system.
Svs prime
Heco Aurora
Monoprice encore
Klipsch RP
Any advice would be helpful
6:37 Duty🤣😭😅
Now that's a bitching speaker. They definitely put some thought into this speaker 🔊 great job svs.
