+Khotta Bogard Totally, I was actually surprised I was able to understand most of what he said.

@Dorian Conor I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

Steve, even with your immense knowledge on tech, you always remain so humble in interviews and let the interviewee speak to their content. That's really respectable :)

Very simply put, only experts can explain it this simple :) Nice one, Tom!

Say what you want about Tom Petersen, but the guy just knows his stuff. He does have a smart ass attitude but thats just his personality, but when you get down to it the dude just flat out knows his stuff.
Steve Burke, You guys have grown so much and I hope to see you guys grow even more as time progresses. Your content is just so in depth and informative. Keep up the good work!

A very good explanation to how a graphic pipeline works, it deserves more views.

I'm a game director making my first digital game who knows nothing about any of this stuff. Finally after watching so many vids and feeling so overwhelmed, this summed up everything so easily and simply for me. Wow. Amazing

This man just explained better in 7 minutes that which my university prof failed to in an entire semesters worth of lectures.

This is so comprehensive, it is almost a shame it's kinda rushed and at a showfloor. Would have loved to hear him talk four an hour, as i still find it difficult to find comprehensive explanations about rendering pipelines and what every step along the line actually does.

I’m like,...what? The underlying complexity of a GPU boggles the mind. Clearly the people who come up with this stuff are simply geniuses. Thank Heaven my computer came with an Nvidia graphics card.

I learned all this stuff in my classes of graphic computing and it's very interesting

I like to think of it as 2D bits, or information, which we imagine to be 3D models/worlds, then being sent through the pipeline. So it's something that transforms your imagination into a 3D world which is projected onto a 2D screen and you can't go in it (maybe with VR).

1:52 - "clipping" has nothing to do with "scissoring" (it's another story). Clipping discards the primitives that aren't inside the "viewing *frustum* " by testing if its vertices' x,y,z components are outside the -w/+w range, and if a primitive intersects the frustum, new primitives are created in order to "fix" it. Only then, there's the w-divide transforming clip coordinates into NDC coordinates. It's basic OpenGL pipeline.

It's the basic Graphics Pipeline, not just OpenGL no matter the Graphics API the concepts remain the same.

    where async compute? lol

    • @TheRealEZOverdose
      @TheRealEZOverdose 8 ปีที่แล้ว

+Hafiz Khalid async compute is when the gpu can utilize multiple pipelines to do multiple things simultaneously. the way dx11 works and the way i feel like tom explained it in this video is the pipeline is basically single threaded and everything is queued up and processed sequentially. if you google images "dx12 pipeline" youll see a bunch of pics with the word 'behavior' in them and thats async
deenycest - im interested in that. all ive seen is the sketchy ashes benchmark where it barely beat the fury x
