Sorry to my subscribers that I haven’t made a follow-up video to my original reviews. Unfortunately, I was very unhappy with my car because of the glitches in the infotainment system. So much so that I didn’t want to invest any more effort into doing anything with it. Acura had put out a couple of updates to help improve the problems with it but, I feel they still had a long way to go. Especially with their navigation and integration with CarPlay. Otherwise, the car was mechanically sound and ran well. As of a few weeks ago while I was getting my oil changed at my Acura dealer, I was speaking with the sales manager about my disappointment with the car and that I don’t even like getting into it everyday. After some discussion, three days later I was driving away in a 2019 MDX Tech. All I did was exchange keys as he was able to make me a good enough deal where my payment wouldn’t go up at all. I’m sure he didn’t want to lose my business as I’ve bought a few cars through that dealership. Besides, he made a profit too. I couldn’t be happier with what I’ve done as I’m loving getting in my car everyday again. Although the MDX is getting dated, everything works as it should without delay or problems. I’ve owned a few of the older Acura styles from the past so being back in a car with the double screens is like coming home. I’m glad they are back. If any of you have purchased the new RDX, I hope you have better luck than I had.
Catman 70 I’m thinking of purchasing my mom either the 2019 RDX or MDX. Were the glitches that bad on the RDX? They both have the exact same features at their top trim level right? Thanks for the video!
Catman 70 I’m having the exact same problem right now. Acura was super tough to navigate to get to the point where I finally was able to speak to a Sr Level Acura Manager - not the dealer. I’m currently driving a loaner while they come up with their further assessment. It’s unbelievable how much of a run around I’ve been given about their not being able to fix it yet and say the exact fix I need is coming in a month.
Hamilton Hines I’m very happy with what I did. No regrets. My new MDX runs perfectly and I have no problems at all with my infotainment system. I do miss the sound system and the HUD from the RDX but worth sacrificing for a car that runs properly. I also realize that the TTI is not the way to go. When you get away from it again, you will see that it is certainly not the best option.
Hamilton Hines I thought I was the one who didn’t know how to use the nav system but it seems there really is s problem with it. I finally just use Car Play and Waze and don’t deal with the problems my RDX gives me.
Catman 70 thank you for the update. Your dealer is nice enough to upgrade you to a much bigger car for the same payment. How do you like the MDX as compared to RDX? I know the MDX is not new, design wise, as compared to the new RDX, but I think it still looks stunning and drives excellent. I haven’t driven the new RDX so I’m curious to see what real customers say about the 2. Thank you!
I have my second Acura now. My first was a 2007 TSX. I wanted that car so badly that I sat at the dealership for almost 6 hours negotiating a price! I'm happy to say, they caved in. It was a great car and it had over 120,000 miles before I traded it for a roomier vehicle. I just wanted to give you a backstory before this. First let me say that you make really good videos on this vehicle. Secondly, there was the part in the video about the lock button near the rear hatch handle. I have a 2016 Advance RDX and it does have the lock button on the side of the rear hatch handle. So that was in the last model generation. I like the auto seat temps. That's a cool feature. As well as the auto high beams, heads-up display, speed limit signage--i could go on and on but then that'd make me jealous...lol. I actually wrote to Acura after I purchased my 2016 RDX and informed them that on upcoming models they needed to include rear heated seats, rear charging ports and a panoramic roof. The thing is, i was actually a bit upset because Acura prides itself on "ADVANCE". However, they seem to slow down when it came to features in the last RDX. All the features they have now should have been included in the previous model. Even Ford, if I'm not mistaken, was the first car company to introduce the rear kick panel. That should have been Acura first in my opinion. I am glad to say that they did listen to the customers(i hope) about these most needed features. Man, you got the top-of-the-line model with nothing left out didn't cha? I'm still enjoying my 2016 but I'm happy for ya chief! I'm happy that you got a good, reliable, fully featured vehicle that makes you love it so much you almost don't want to go in the house...lol. I'll be waiting on more of your videos about this awesome machine so keep 'em comin'! Thanks.
Excellent review! Didn't hear about the tire pressure beep except on your review! Thanks! My first Acura was one of the first Acuras - a 1987 Integra that gave me 260,000 relatively trouble free miles. I now drive a fully optioned 2004 Toyota Sienna XLE limited but the new and mind boggling upgrades on the Acura are causing me to return and become an Acura customer again. Lexus just doesn't have the features the Acura does at this price point and your review helped prove that.
linda Loehr Hello Linda. I am highly considering the 2020 RDX. I’ve been to dealer multiple times for test drives and to learn more about the car itself. My question to you as someone who has the RDX is have you had any issues with the infotainment system crashing? I’ve heard many horror stories. Best regards, Eric.
Thanks and I agree the details you showed were very interesting. Thinking about getting one and it would be the Advance package with SH-AWD because I love all the tech. Years ago I did own a 2004 MDX that I was happy with, sold it to a friend and they have around 150,000 miles on it and still love the vehicle. Wish the rear turn signals in the RDX were LED and not incandescent. May have to mod it if I get one. Thanks again for the video.
Just wanted to say, I reviewed all your videos and they're excellent. Far superior than the big boys. Keep up the good work. I currently have a MDX looking at the A spec RDX, Your videos have been very helpful and informative.
Thanks for showing the seat features... the adjustable seat bolster is an awesome feature! being a bigger guy, it's hard to find a good fitting seat! I'm gonna try the Acura!
Thank you! Just purchased a 2019 RDX Advanced Pkg. No manual to explain features or how to program / change info screen. Tried changing and setting up the 3D ELS studio sound system. No info on this. If you have another video, I’d appreciate watching it.
This is my 3rd Acura! My first was an 1994 Acura Integra Coupe! She went 10 years 135k miles on the first engine then 2 subsequent engines where each went about 5k each! Then bought a 2012 TSX Tech pkg still going strong at 37k and now the new RDX Tech package! Couldn’t pay $3 grand extra and upwards to $10 grand extra for the same 4-cylinder engine! I Love This vehicle! The navigation sucks even in the 2012 TSX! LEXUS has the better infotainment system in my opinion though! I do wish the engine noise was quieter, a touch screen navigation would have been best...still getting use to that touch pad thingy and an electric/power tilt&telescoping steering wheel would have been great...for a $40+ thousand vehicle it should at least be an option! Maybe by the end of my lease, they will have a V6 option and better navigation! Overall, I’m very pleased with my decision!
Nice video with many of the subtle features of the '19 RDX. Mine is a Tech model. Our second RDX, after three MDX's. The "19 RDX has superb sound deadening. This years RDX is very quiet compared to the previous '17 RDX. Now about the NAV system...oiy vey.
Thanks for the details! I had no idea. My questions on advanced features are 1) how is the lane centering function (is it accurate and comfortable to use) and 2) are you able to configure the cabin temp from the mobile app and; if not, how annoying is it?
For hot countries I hope Acura and many other brands will consider heat ventilated back seat, instead of heated, at least if they forced to add one of them.
Great video! The infotainment/Nav is the sticking point for me in buying the RDX. Could you do a video on the infotainment TTI? What's your experience with CarPlay? Thanks!
Great video, Thank you. May I ask you how the adaptative cruise control works on the 2019’s vs previous model. When the car slows down because you drive faster than the car in front of you, you put your turn signal to overtake and you move to the left lane, the car keeps slowing down instead of accelerating. That was very annoying compared to some Volvo, BMW or Audi systems. Hope Acura improved it on the 2019 model. Thank you for you feedback.
Excellent overview of features not seen in most reviews - very informative! Couple of questions, does the 'trip computer' reading in the dash display elapsed time since turning on the engine? And, secondly, I hear the A-SPEC RDX doesn't have a spare time, rather a tire repair kit? I know you have an Advance version, but I was wondering if you can confirm this since you seem to be quite knowledgeable about Acuras. Thanks and keep posting more of your experiences with your new RDX.
TheWetPony the trip computer resets when you push and hold down the scroll wheel for the dash info. I can’t comment on the spare for the A-Spec as I just don’t know. I will tell you this, I think the HUD is the best feature about the car and you might want to look into an advance just because of it. I don’t know how I ever lived without one.
In the trunk, when you want access to the hidden cubby-hole, there is no way to hold the flap up automatically, or perhaps have some way to hang it from the ceiling. Am surprised the engineers missed one thing. A small issue but I would expect they will resolve that on future models.
Yes, a friend bought an A-Spec RDX and asked me to join him which I did. We were looking in the trunk when I noticed that, (the second cubby I mean). My buddy didn't even know it was there, and neither did the sales lady. Only reason I knew was I had seen it on YT. Just seems odd that an engineer would not have a fix for that. I wouldn't be surprised if they design on next gen.
Funny thing, I was just watching a review on the new Q3. Go to 4 min and check where he talks about the rear hatch floor: th-cam.com/video/3gEsc3z308o/w-d-xo.html
Two questions: What does the button on the top right of the touchpad, to the right of the home button do? Looks like a partially depleted battery. Secondly, is there a way to turn on the around view camera without being in reverse? I use it for pulling forward sometimes to get closer to things. Most cars have a separate button which we can activate below certain speeds. Thanks!
Jon Labbe the touch pad button just brings up a list of the right screen options (map, music, clock). There is a button for the back up camera on the end of the wiper handle
Do you know if there is a way to adjust the settings so that the interior lights come on after turning the vehicle off. When it's dark out it's pitch black in there and I can't see what the heck I'm doing! LIke previous vehicles, I feel the dome lights should illuminate rather than just the dull dashboard lights. I looked in the settings and it says it is set for 30 seconds but it's still dark as can be...
11Hammers sorry, you are correct. It should be 33 for the 19” wheels. Anything more than a 5 psi fluctuation is too much. I will lower it a bit today. They probably send it out from the dealership a little high so when the cold weather months come they don’t get calls about the TPMS system. Lol
Actually, all cars are shipped over inflated tires to prevent flat-spotting, the dealer is supposed to correct it as part of the Pre Delivery Inspection.
Subscribed! Great video, you include the details most others leave out. Does the mirror switch have a middle setting so both mirrors tilt down when you put it in reverse?
Great video; thanks. Couple of questions: When opening trunk with your foot, is this a standard feature on Advanced model or did you pay extra for it? Does the rear-view mirror automatically adjust for each driver or do you have to do it manually? Again, thanks.
Lyle Cameron foot control on the trunk came with the Advance. Also, the mirrors will adjust to the presets of which ever fob you are using. Set your preferences and then lock them in with the corresponding button on the door. When ever you approach the car with that Fob, it will set up to your preferences (seat, mirror,nav...)
I have some great information my 2019 Acura RDX Just had The electronic brake booster fail just out of warranty they would not cover through corporate Acura. Car had just 52K .. Had to pay $2500 to get it repaired so I took the part home checked it out the electronic portion the module made in Mexico that explains everything!! I’m done with Acura!!
@@catman7047 I'm talking about the area under the transmission knob/buttons - the big open area. You mentioned that it has a rubber surface. Is it a wireless charging area?
@@catman7047 I've seen many reviews where they mention "soft brakes" on the 2019 RDX. What do you think about the brakes? I'm leasing a 2017 RDX Advanced and I like the brakes on it. My lease ends this year and I'm researching my options in advance before getting a salesperson involved. So I appreciate your replies.
Wanted to ask you about the current version of Acuralink. I need remote start, have an iphone7+ and when looking at reviews on the app store they were mostly very negative. How are your feelings on the app and service?
Robert Gaddie I had a little difficulty setting it up. Had to go back and forth with Acura a few times. They had to send an order to the tech department. Took about a week but, once they got it going, it seems to work fine. Haven’t had a problem yet. Takes about 20-30 seconds to start the car and then tells you the engine is on and the inside temp. I tried it when my signal was low and it worked fine, just took a little longer to start the car.
W X there is no physical remote start. It’s a $400 option. They do let you have the start from the app free for 6 months and then $110 a year after that. It has other features also like geofencing, send destination to car, etc....
Great video Sir and nice car. The Advance has active suspension. In Comfort mode, is the ride more plush or the same as the Technology package with same size wheels?
R Lopez I really never drove the tech so I can’t comment on that. I will tell you that you can definitely feel the difference between sport and comfort mode.
Thanks for the information. I’m planning on purchasing an advance model when I can get somewhat of a deal, maybe early next year. Question, did you have a rubber wrap on your key fob? I was curious of the options on the key fob. I can’t believe they don’t offer remote start via the key fob.
Joshua Olsen they do offer remote start with a Fob. Will cost you an extra $400. I opted to stick with the app as you can start your car from anywhere plus it has other options. Free for 6 months then $110 a year after that. This is a cover for the Fob I purchased on Amazon. 2Pcs Coolbestda Rubber 4buttons Smart... www.amazon.com/dp/B076X4KJ8B?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Ken Coleman the mirror does have a middle setting but, it will make it so neither mirrors tilt.
Good video. One question, do the side mirrors fold in?
no
They do fold in. Just manually though, unless you buy the Canadian version
@@catman7047 Ah, damn. Was hoping for motorized. Thanks.
@@catman7047 -_-
How hard is it to work the entertainment system with that touch screen configuration thing?
Not hard at all. Unfortunately the infotainment has some glitches
awesome. THANKS.
I haven't figured out what the lower area of the center console is for. What do you use it for?
David Moore if you’re talking about the large knob, it’s to change the drive modes. Snow, comfort, sport, sport+.
@@catman7047 I'm talking about the area under the transmission knob/buttons - the big open area. You mentioned that it has a rubber surface. Is it a wireless charging area?
David Moore that is just a storage area. It does have a usb charging port and car 12v port there. There is no wireless charger with this car
Very helpful
Nice video and do this have remote start?
James Taylor no remote starts on the fob. You can start it remotely with the phone app they give you free for 6 months and then $110 a year thereafter
I tried it when my signal was low and it worked fine, just took a little longer to start the car.
i thought theres remote start on the advance model?
Does the car have auto folding side mirrors?
Light23K if you live in Canada it does
@@catman7047 I heard. What I don't get is how hard it is to offer one model feature wise for the whole world? Just make all the features available for everyone who's interested. Oh well, maybe next year.
It seems kinda big, do you think it will fit in a small one car garage, condo
MsKaretto I have no idea what your garage looks like but, I have a one car garage under my house and it fits fine
0:40 So when he washed his rear windshield and camera his backup sensor tripped? LOL! "i'll get back to you in bit". I could just see it triggered constantly everytime I wash my rear windshield...
Not sure why that happened. When I watched the video afterwards I realized maybe some water dripped over the sensor
I cannot, for the life of me find a button to power fold in the side mirrors. Is that really not an option on the advanced model??!
Nicky Knudson only the Canadian versions have power mirrors. You can only fold them manually
My salesman told me they didn't want to put it on because it weighs 40 more pounds. US market only focusing on good MPG for consumers I guess
Joe T I believe it but 40 pounds?! 20 pound for each side right? No way that each motor weights 40 pound each.
Do the rear seats recline?
ed morris no
The side mirror feature has been around for decades. =/ Don't know if its the first for acura but dont think so.
What MPG have you been observing?
ShermanMR2 about 24 combined. Check out the comments in my other videos and subscribe. I may be doing a video on that topic
Does it come with side windows
MoeGreensLeftEye not sure what you mean
I think he meant rear side pull up shade. It doesn't have it.
Catman.
Sorry that setting for the MID does not work.
It does for a little time but then it keeps defaulting to the stupid trip computer.
Makes no sense. I spoke to soon. Sorry about that.
Pete S yeah I tried it. Maybe they will update that in the near future with an OTA update
How did you get your mpg to go up to 25? What's your secret?
Highways
Catman 70 just get the QX 50 Infiniti much better more luxury better fuel economy and faster too
Thanks
I do have a 2020 acura Rdx
Thx
Don't you guys know 2019 rdx has 2-3 gear transmission issue? even acura acknowledges the problem.. but they cant fix it!
gt6339a CVT much better
Those mirrors should just both go down when you put the car in reverse
👌🏽
👍👍👍👍
The cat is out of the bag now.
Neato! No wireless charging though.... booooo Acura!
You have to plug in to stream music from your phone anyway. But Acura really deserves a boo for no Android Auto.
is there an eco mode?
No.
