Respect to the Sikh community. Had the pleasure of teaching (Corp environment) many trainees who taught me a lot about the Sikh ways. Warriors and humane. They feed anyone who needs it, care for their community amd honour their families (though a lot of guys panic about going home with a haircut). Respect is earned. Always earned mine. My dad served in the merchant navy in WW2 for the whole thing. He served in the Burma theatre for a period of time and told me tales of how effective Sikh soldiers were.
I'm from England and know a few Sikh families personally and they are some of the kindest people I know. Really cool seeing this video, mad respect for them and their culture.
Great upload. Dude, pronounced as if your saying "Seek" being brought up in North London went to school and played Hocky with load Sikh guys. Served with some in the Army too (along with plenty Hindu/Muslims lads) they bring a massive military history with them. Check out the:- "Battle of Sargarhi" Where 21 Sikh soldiers killed an estimated 1400 Pathan combatants. My Grandads serviced with them in Northern India in 1936. He ratted them as fantastic Warrior/Soldiers.
I'm pretty sure that's just the british way of pronouncing it, maybe thats how uk Sikhs pronounce it too, but how he pronounced it in the video is the most common and accepted way
@@RomeoMike22 not wanting to start a disagreement, my friend Anish in Maharashtra pronounces it "Seek" as does my brother in law Darsh in Chennai (my sister Aleta is married him 4 years ago.) Neither is "British or Anglo Indian." in fact Anish went to college in the USA.
It's pronounced the way he said it in the video. "Sikh" means student/learner, basically. In Hindi you would say that as "Seek" but in Punjabi it's pronounced "Sikh" as in the video.
Great to see some more of the proper Indian army training rather than the "bollywood" type videos that seem to be a lot more of, but I think that is just a clever way of them making other countries not take them as seriously as they actually are. Being the most decorated unit it the commonwealth is really impressive and I know that those soldiers definitely help in a huge way during the 2 world wars and gaining their independence was obviously a proud moment for the country. I thought it was pronounced as "seek", rather than "sick", but as you said, that might just be a wrong pronunciation because I'm British... While we are talking about this country, I think it's important to wish them well with their fight against Covid as they are having a tough time with it over there. Back to the video, I have seen videos of the soldiers crawling through those ditches and it is real rounds that get fired over their heads so if the don't stay down, they will be shot. I have tried on a turbin before and couldn't believe the size of them. Was about the size of 1.5 tennis nets and are put on so neatly it is really impressive. Sikhism is actually a pretty young religion. AFAIK Sikhs are allowed to keep their grooming standards per their religion. The Sikhs and Para SF units are the only units allowed to maintain beards.

21 Sikhs were once put against 10000 Afghans. They fought and killed 600 of them. They died bravely and the Fort Saragarhi was revived when the Sikh regiment of Fort Lockhart came.

Some sikhs follow the khalsa way of living, It is a set of guidelines laid down by the 10th and last human Guru of the religion, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. And according to the rules of the khalsa the men are not allowed to shave off any hair on their body. The straps across their chins are a piece of cloth that helps in holding the hanging beard and also keeps it in shape.

Respect to Sikhs from Britain! Sikhs are great people, honest, honourable, loyal, brave and charitable. If you have a day off some time go visit the nearest Sikh temple when they are serving food and have a talk to them. Every Sikh temple (Gurdwara) has a kitchen attached (Langar). Every day the Sikhs feed the poor, they don't take any government money for it they raise the money from the Sikh community. They see it as the duty of every Sikh to protect and help the needy regardless of religion. Sikhism is an interesting religion, it was born in the middle of the genocidal push into India by Islam, the Hindu's reacted by creating the Thugs, a genocidal, death worshipping cult of Hindu's who were the ISIS of their time. The Sikh gurus were publicly tortured to death in a variety of gruesome ways but the religion kept strict rules on the use of violence, only in self defence or to protect the weak. It is a religious requirement for every Sikh to be armed at all times, they usually carry a Kirpan, a ceremonial dagger. In countries that forbid carrying weapons, they weld it into the sheath or wrap it so it can't be used.
Ethnicity specific regiments came up in India following the British "martial races concept". Most militaristic factions that the Brits had a tough time dealing with during their conquest of India were assimilated into regiments as such. This is why you see Gurkha, Sikh, Rajput, Mahar, Dogra, Kumaon, Garhwal and similar other regiments here in India. Most such units recruit a large number of their jawans from villages specific to the general geographic area where these communities thrive. The officers however may or may not be from the same community. There's a culture within the Indian army officers that they assimilate into whatever culture their men are from. Thus you can have a Madrasi(South Indian/Tamil) officer being as much a Punjabi/Sikh as any other, or a Rajput officer being as much a Gorkha as the men he commands. There is a special take about the Maratha Empire being so notorious that the British refused to give them martial race status within the Royal Indian Army. That however was compensated for when India became independent. From what I remember, one of the Maratha battalions was at a later date converted into a Para battalion, which is quite the honour. A famous catchphrase you'll hear from Indian army troops is, *"Naam, Namak, Nishan",* which equates to "Glory, Loyalty and Regimental Honour", which is everything that an Indian soldier is about.
Lol marathas were the only ones who defeated britishers i.e the first Anglo-maratha war. Numerous times when they tried to enter via sea route defeated by kanhoji angre. Most importantly, they gained control of India from marathas. Marathas served the in both the world wars and even got Victoria cross medals which is the british highest honor. The116th (4 Maratha LI) unit served for full four years in the Mesopotamian theatre and also skilfully dealt with difficult situations in South Kurdistan. In fact, such was their reputation that once a senior British officer was asked, “Who do you think were pick of your lot?” “The Mahratta”, came the unhesitating reply. “I would always like to have a Maratha with me in any scrap.” That aside, a certain amount of distrust also lurked in the minds of British rulers who had previously fought the Marathas for territorial supremacy. However, racial theories have been discredited. Historian Sikata Banerjee notes a dissonance in British military opinions of the Maratha, wherein the British portrayed them as both "formidable opponents" and yet not "properly qualified" for fighting in the western manner, criticising the Maratha guerrilla tactics as an improper way of war. The Maratha Light Infantry regiment is one of the "oldest and most renowned" regiments of the Indian Army.[130] Its First Battalion, also known as the Jangi Paltan ("Warrior Platoon"),[131] traces its origins to 1768 as part of the Bombay Sepoys.

In indian army various regiment named on the basis of caste , religion but anyone irrespective of there caste , religion they can join any regiment . In indian army only Sikhs are allowed to have a pagdi and beard but both should be well maintained according to the rules .

In Finland is it just the cold weather training you do or finish Military trains for almost all terrains? The Indian Military have the luxury of having availability in India of all different types of terrains that exists from snowy himalayas to tropical jungles so they have soldiers ready for any given terrain that they have to fight. But Finland is mostly cold snowy so how's the training there.
@@danydash316 We have four seasons, hot summer and cold (and dark) winter. If you serve only half a year, you'll get to experience half of the seasons. Actually we don't have mountains. Which is good, because those would mean longer serving time for everybody or one more special forces.
@@vicmac3513 in India minimum is around 1 and a half year for just normal training, some guys go for NDA which may take them for 4 years of just training. Then they go to different warfare schools from jungle gurilla warfare to urban, desert, cold weather mountain warfare training. Then some of them volunteer for commando school and a few of them pass the selections and training then those commandos who have completed their training are the only one that can volunteer for Indian special forces. The training and service period is long because all of them are volunteers and the environment in which indian military operates is hostile, the youngest soldier that died was about 19 who died in January this year while fighting a bunch of terrorists.
Deg Teg Fateh is shouted by the Sikh Soldiers as a Sikh War cry. It was inscribed in official Sikh government coins in both Sikh Empires of Banda Singh Bahadur & Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Actually all this stuff that soldiers tend to do in their training putting stresses through the long axes of the bones of their bodies stimulates osteocytes (stress sensor cells inside the bone) which then stimulate the bone to calcify and become denser and stronger. so technically it is exercising bones and muscles. the thing to keep in mind though is that these changes happen over a longer timeline than changes in the neuromuscular system. but like some of these GI Joe looking guys in the US military that have been able to keep that body type for long periods of time on a bone scan would have pretty strong ass bones for sure that are able to constantly bear and move all the mass these guys carry around day to day.

The Indian Army regimental system is similar to Britain, where they have "named regiments" (like the Sikh, or the Jat Regiments), but those are not organized like US brigades; instead, each regiment has a number of battalions assigned to it, so seeing something like "8th Sikh", or "11th Jat", means that those are separate battalions that are assigned to divisions and brigades. For example, there are about 22-24 battalions in both the Sikh and Jat regiments, counting reserves. 2. If you haven't, you should check out T-Rex Arms' video on Liku Tactical, where they took a Japanese Airsofter and got him up to speed with live weapons...Took about 4 hours. Interesting watch.

Even foundation stone of Darbar Sahib(Golden temple) was laid by Muslim saint. 2) Sikhism is and will be a religion. I didnt know that there was a Sikh unit. I kinda understood that they serve in the military purely as support personnel. At least my first encounter was with British Army Sikh interpreter and HUMINT guy. I also checked out the article on Sikhs in US Army and found that they have been serving since the WW1. Funny thing is that beards in uniform is still a very case by case situation. But there are a lot of Sikhs in the US Army. Very cool info.
In Indian army they do all kind of stuffs not just the support. From tank crews to artillery and infantrymen. There has been a sikh unit since 19th century and check out the battle of saragarhi, one of the world's greatest last stand.
Fun fact :As of 26 Jan 2021 the kumaon regiment is the most decorated regiment of indian army, also the oldest, the regiment have also participated in both WW and all conflicts fought by the indian army. The first ever param veer chakra( highest gallantry award) was also rewarded to Major Somnath Sharma who belonged to the kumaon regiment 😁😁😁
Sikhs are required to keep their hair uncut, so yes it is required that they keep beards as well. That being said, that is for Sikhs that choose to practice their faith. Those with their hair cut (or beards trimmed/shaved) are not actually following the Sikh faith.

To your question of - Why is there only a regiment for Sikhs? What happens if you are not a Sikh? To understand this you need to go in to history of India. If you recall India was once a British Colony. British while hiring soldiers for its Army, basically divided Indian and population to two categories - Martial Races and Non-Martial races. Communities and ethnicities which were slightly built physically better or perceived to be better fighters were put in Martial Races and others were put in Non-Martial races. Then Army regiments were created based on this homogeneity. Sikh Regiment is one such regiment. There are many other cast based regiments in Indian Army - Ahir Regiment, Gurkha Regiment, Maratha Light Infantry, Jat Regiment, Dogra Regiment just to name a few. Post Independence India has done away with Martial Races and Non-Martial races theory. Also there are many regiments in Indian army which are not cast based, you can always join them. Also even if the regiment's might be from cast/ethnicity based but the commanding officer will not be from same community. This is to bring in more diversity in the army. But cast or ethnicity based regiments are going to be there in Indian Army. My dad was ex- Indian Army JCO. I asked him why India has not done away with cast based regiments. He basically said - it's all about practicality. Men who come from common cast and ethnic background share a common culture. Culture here could be general interaction mechanism, food, festivals celebrated just to name a few. If you have homogeneity at the regiment level, it becomes easy for the Army to administrate them. India is a very diverse country. What a Sikh (from Punjab in North India) eats for lunch is not as what a guy from Karnataka (one of South Indian state) eats for lunch. They have nothing in common between them - they don't eat same food, celebrate same festivals, greet same way or even speak same language. The only thing that bonds them together is - both of them call them selves Indians proudly.

Only Sikhs are allowed in Sikh regiment. But officers could be from different religions and all Sikhs are required to have there full beard and uncut hair.

So army can deploy their regiment according. A Local man of a deseart land can fight well in desert warfair. So as well High altitude Warfair for Himalayan People...

They teach what is called "A soldiers discipline" they are very loyal to their seniors and treat them like their fathers (all indian army does this) sorry to say this but You people are not very disciplined according to us.
A Sikh HAS to have the five K's - Kesh (hair, not to be cut, ever; that's head, moustache and beard); Kanga (the tiny comb they carry in their hair); Kirpan (a ceremonial dagger, usually, in civilian life, fused to the scabbard, worn as an ornament, originated as a personal weapon); Kachha (drawers); and Kanga (the steel bracelet they wear on their right wrists). A Sikh cannot skip any of these. There are those who follow the teachings of the Gurus, but are not full-fledged Sikh, because they skip one of these, or several of these.
In a nutshell Sikhs are like Jedi combined with Mandalorian. Weapons are part of our religion, we always are suppose to carry a Dagger and a Sikh can never cut his hair or remove his turban or allow it to be removed. And always figh against oppression and injustice. This is the way! 🙏
Both Sikh regiment and Punjab regiment come from the same province but while the former recruits only turbaned soldiers, the latter recruits non turbaned soldiers as well. Sikhs are religiously required to keep uncut hair and beard, thus the only 2 regiments allowed to do so in the Indian Army. Indian army soldiers are required to follow dress code even while off duty and there are different types of uniforms, thus wearing one during leisure time

That’s not the difference. Traditionally Sikh regiment was raised for Jat Sikhs, later included Rajput Sikhs and Kamboj Sikhs. Sikh Li Regiment is strictly raised for Dalit Sikhs(Mazhbi,Ramdasia,Ravidassia etc)
As the officer said 'some comes clean shaved ...' it's just because many don't seriously follow the principles of Sikhism. As such, there's no relaxation but it's mandatory for every Sikh to have uncut hair n BEARD of course. After training, many start following proper SIKH rules of having turban n beard(as the officer explained) , it's just because, in training, they constantly reminds soldiers about the great history of Sikhism n the achievements of SIKH REGIMENT 🙏

My dad served in the merchant navy in WW2 for the whole thing. He served in the Burma theatre for a period of time and told me tales of how effective Sikh soldiers were.

It's pronounced the way he said it in the video. "Sikh" means student/learner, basically. In Hindi you would say that as "Seek" but in Punjabi it's pronounced "Sikh" as in the video.
Great to see some more of the proper Indian army training rather than the "bollywood" type videos that seem to be a lot more of, but I think that is just a clever way of them making other countries not take them as seriously as they actually are.
Being the most decorated unit it the commonwealth is really impressive and I know that those soldiers definitely help in a huge way during the 2 world wars and gaining their independence was obviously a proud moment for the country. I thought it was pronounced as "seek", rather than "sick", but as you said, that might just be a wrong pronunciation because I'm British...
While we are talking about this country, I think it's important to wish them well with their fight against Covid as they are having a tough time with it over there. A billion+ people is a lot of people to look after so sending love from Britain to India and I hope you guys stay safe and try your best to fight this virus that has touched all our countries.
I can also say to all the India people who read these comments who have family in the UK that I have spoken to many of them who live here and they all say the same thing - they miss home and their families and all want to go home but can't because of the obvious reasons.
Back to the video, I have seen videos of the soldiers crawling through those ditches and it is real rounds that get fired over their heads so if the don't stay down, they will be shot. Would never be allowed in the UK, but it is definitely more realistic than getting blanks fired "at" you.

I have tried on a turbin before and couldn't believe the size of them. Was about the size of 1.5 tennis nets and are put on so neatly it is really impressive. I was told that it was to hold the head hair that wasn't allowed to be cut from birth, but I may be getting that mixed up with the Sikh religion??? One of the oldest religions in the world. Sikhism is actually a pretty young religion. AFAIK Sikhs are allowed to keep their grooming standards per their religion. The Sikhs and Para SF units are the only units allowed to maintain beards.

Some sikhs follow the khalsa way of living, It is a set of guidelines laid down by the 10th and last human Guru of the religion, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. And according to the rules of the khalsa the men are not allowed to shave off any hair on their body. The straps across their chins are a piece of cloth that helps in holding the hanging beard and also keeps it in shape.

If you have a day off some time go visit the nearest Sikh temple when they are serving food and have a talk to them.
Every Sikh temple (Gurdwara) has a kitchen attached (Langar). Every day the Sikhs feed the poor, they don't take any government money for it they raise the money from the Sikh community.
They see it as the duty of every Sikh to protect and help the needy regardless of religion.
Sikhism is an interesting religion, it was born in the middle of the genocidal push into India by Islam, the Hindu's reacted by creating the Thugs, a genocidal, death worshipping cult of Hindu's who were the ISIS of their time.
The Sikh gurus were publicly tortured to death in a variety of gruesome ways but the religion kept strict rules on the use of violence, only in self defence or to protect the weak.
It is a religious requirement for every Sikh to be armed at all times, they usually carry a Kirpan, a ceremonial dagger. In countries that forbid carrying weapons, they weld it into the sheath or wrap it so it can't be used.
Ethnicity specific regiments came up in India following the British "martial races concept". Most militaristic factions that the Brits had a tough time dealing with during their conquest of India were assimilated into regiments as such. This is why you see Gurkha, Sikh, Rajput, Mahar, Dogra, Kumaon, Garhwal and similar other regiments here in India. Most such units recruit a large number of their jawans from villages specific to the general geographic area where these communities thrive. The officers however may or may not be from the same community. There's a culture within the Indian army officers that they assimilate into whatever culture their men are from. Thus you can have a Madrasi(South Indian/Tamil) officer being as much a Punjabi/Sikh as any other, or a Rajput officer being as much a Gorkha as the men he commands.
There is a special take about the Maratha Empire being so notorious that the British refused to give them martial race status within the Royal Indian Army. That however was compensated for when India became independent. From what I remember, one of the Maratha battalions was at a later date converted into a Para battalion, which is quite the honour.
A famous catchphrase you'll hear from Indian army troops is, *"Naam, Namak, Nishan",* which equates to "Glory, Loyalty and Regimental Honour", which is everything that an Indian soldier is about.

Lol marathas were the only ones who defeated britishers i.e the first Anglo-maratha war. Numerous times when they tried to enter via sea route defeated by kanhoji angre. Most importantly, they gained control of India from marathas. Marathas served the in both the world wars and even got Victoria cross medals which is the british highest honor. The116th (4 Maratha LI) unit served for full four years in the Mesopotamian theatre and also skilfully dealt with difficult situations in South Kurdistan. In fact, such was their reputation that once a senior British officer was asked, “Who do you think were pick of your lot?” “The Mahratta”, came the unhesitating reply. “I would always like to have a Maratha with me in any scrap.”
That aside, a certain amount of distrust also lurked in the minds of British rulers who had previously fought the Marathas for territorial supremacy. After the Third Anglo-Maratha war in 1818, Britain listed the Marathas as one of the Martial Races to serve in the British Indian Army although it was unclear whether this categorisation referred to the Maratha caste or a subset of some Marathi castes.
they disapproved of Maratha utilisation of guerrilla warfare in combat along with their uncharitable and ruthless attitudes. However, racial theories have been discredited. Historian Sikata Banerjee notes a dissonance in British military opinions of the Maratha, wherein the British portrayed them as both "formidable opponents" and yet not "properly qualified" for fighting in the western manner, criticising the Maratha guerrilla tactics as an improper way of war.

We are a Saint Soldiers (A martial Race) Most decorated bcz besides the best training recieved our religion teaches us never to back up in the battle field. It is the pledge of a Sikh soldier to never say no to any task given, dose not matter how hard the task is. Sikhs never show their back in the battlefield.

In Finland is it just the cold weather training you do or finish Military trains for almost all terrains? The Indian Military have the luxury of having availability in India of all different types of terrains that exists from snowy himalayas to tropical jungles so they have soldiers ready for any given terrain that they have to fight. But Finland is mostly cold snowy so how's the training there.

Actually we don't have mountains. Which is good, because those would mean longer serving time for everybody or one more special forces.
@@vicmac3513 in India minimum is around 1 and a half year for just normal training, some guys go for NDA which may take them for 4 years of just training. Then they go to different warfare schools from jungle gurilla warfare to urban, desert, cold weather mountain warfare training. Then some of them volunteer for commando school and a few of them pass the selections and training then those commandos who have completed their training are the only one that can volunteer for Indian special forces. The training and service period is long because all of them are volunteers and the environment in which indian military operates is hostile, the youngest soldier that died was about 19 who died in January this year while fighting a bunch of terrorists.

Cool. I was aware of the Sikhs being trusted and competent warriors. Actually trusted and competent in general. But that decorated! A good one again!
Actually all this stuff that soldiers tend to do in their training putting stresses through the long axes of the bones of their bodies stimulates osteocytes (stress sensor cells inside the bone) which then stimulate the bone to calcify and become denser and stronger. so technically it is exercising bones and muscles. the thing to keep in mind though is that these changes happen over a longer timeline than changes in the neuromuscular system. but like some of these GI Joe looking guys in the US military that have been able to keep that body type for long periods of time on a bone scan would have pretty strong ass bones for sure that are able to constantly bear and move all the mass these guys carry around day to day.

The Indian Army regimental system is similar to Britain, where they have "named regiments" (like the Sikh, or the Jat Regiments), but those are not organized like US brigades; instead, each regiment has a number of battalions assigned to it, so seeing something like "8th Sikh", or "11th Jat", means that those are separate battalions that are assigned to divisions and brigades. For example, there are about 22-24 battalions in both the Sikh and Jat regiments, counting reserves.

I didnt know that there was a Sikh unit. I kinda understood that they serve in the military purely as support personnel. At least my first encounter was with British Army Sikh interpreter and HUMINT guy. I also checked out the article on Sikhs in US Army and found that they have been serving since the WW1. Funny thing is that beards in uniform is still a very case by case situation. But there are a lot of Sikhs in the US Army. Very cool info.
In Indian army they do all kind of stuffs not just the support. From tank crews to artillery and infantrymen. There has been a sikh unit since 19th century and check out the battle of saragarhi, one of the world's greatest last stand.
We are proud of our Sikh brothers. If you are skilled in warfare then fight our Sikh soldiers and you will be humbled !!
Fun fact :As of 26 Jan 2021 the kumaon regiment is the most decorated regiment of indian army, also the oldest, the regiment have also participated in both WW and all conflicts fought by the indian army. The first ever param veer chakra( highest gallantry award) was also rewarded to Major Somnath Sharma who belonged to the kumaon regiment 😁😁😁

Sikhs are required to keep their hair uncut, so yes it is required that they keep beards as well. That being said, that is for Sikhs that choose to practice their faith. Those with their hair cut (or beards trimmed/shaved) are not actually following the Sikh faith.

To your question of - Why is there only a regiment for Sikhs? What happens if you are not a Sikh?
To understand this you need to go in to history of India. If you recall India was once a British Colony. British while hiring soldiers for its Army, basically divided Indian and population to two categories - Martial Races and Non-Martial races. Communities and ethnicities which were slightly built physically better or perceived to be better fighters were put in Martial Races and others were put in Non-Martial races. Then Army regiments were created based on this homogeneity. Sikh Regiment is one such regiment. There are many other cast based regiments in Indian Army - Ahir Regiment, Gurkha Regiment, Maratha Light Infantry, Jat Regiment, Dogra Regiment just to name a few.
Post Independence India has done away with Martial Races and Non-Martial races theory. Also there are many regiments in Indian army which are not cast based, you can always join them. Also even if the regiment's might be from cast/ethnicity based but the commanding officer will not be from same community. This is to bring in more diversity in the army. But cast or ethnicity based regiments are going to be there in Indian Army.
My dad was ex- Indian Army JCO. I asked him why India has not done away with cast based regiments. He basically said - it's all about practicality. Men who come from common cast and ethnic background share a common culture. Culture here could be general interaction mechanism, food, festivals celebrated just to name a few. If you have homogeneity at the regiment level, it becomes easy for the Army to administrate them. India is a very diverse country. What a Sikh (from Punjab in North India) eats for lunch is not as what a guy from Karnataka (one of South Indian state) eats for lunch. They have nothing in common between them - they don't eat same food, celebrate same festivals, greet same way or even speak same language. The only thing that bonds them together is - both of them call them selves Indians proudly.

Both Sikh regiment and Punjab regiment come from the same province but while the former recruits only turbaned soldiers, the latter recruits non turbaned soldiers as well. Sikhs are religiously required to keep uncut hair and beard, thus the only 2 regiments allowed to do so in the Indian Army. Indian army soldiers are required to follow dress code even while off duty and there are different types of uniforms, thus wearing one during leisure time
Sikh regiment: most recruits are from sikh community but any one from all over India can join it
Sikh light infantry : only from sikh community are allowed

Traditionally Sikh regiment was raised for Jat Sikhs, later included Rajput Sikhs and Kamboj Sikhs.
Sikh Li Regiment is strictly raised for Dalit Sikhs(Mazhbi,Ramdasia,Ravidassia etc)
Sikh regiments can be joined by sikh who are not SC, Sikh Li can be joined only by SC Sikhs.
Officers can be of any religion/caste/region.

As the officer said 'some comes clean shaved ...' it's just because many don't seriously follow the principles of Sikhism. As such, there's no relaxation but it's mandatory for every Sikh to have uncut hair n BEARD of course.
After training, many start following proper SIKH rules of having turban n beard(as the officer explained) , it's just because, in training, they constantly reminds soldiers about the great history of Sikhism n the achievements of SIKH REGIMENT 🙏
