I’ve noticed a lot of people who complain about the game, particularly ones who complain about the game being too easy, are people who have played the game for a very long time. When you first pick up the game, there are so many unknowns and trials one must do to survive. Years later, it becomes trivial to do survive and do all those things. Years of playing, wiki reading, TH-cam tutorials, and everything. When you are focused on the challenge, but you have already mastered that challenge, it gets boring. That’s why in Minecraft you make your own objectives. If you focus on one goal that is trivial to your mastery, you will never get anything out of it.

For me personally: it doesn’t feel like a sandbox anymore, I find myself enjoying older minecraft a lot more simply because you can feel free to do whatever, but ever since the sculk update: I feel as though its gone down hill, maybe I just don’t enjoy it anymore

You should try building on a superflat world, it’s real easy getting caught in the loop of just playing survival so you gotta try other areas of the game

it's hard for me to do stuff like that because I'm not very creative. I've had an idea recently to make a *humane* village spanning a whole Jungle biome with all the different kinds of villager professions.
But other than that idea I've got nothing, there's a good chance I'll quit the world after that.

Real reason is because you've been playing the same game for years, anybody would get bored.

It could be a bit psicotic idk, but i think thats for life too, dont live just grinding for the end, do whatever makes you happy, you will die no matter what you do, this doesn't mean that you have no responsibilitys or something else, do your things, respect others, work, study, but dont let it be all boring, dont let money stop you, if lifes boring for you, then you are boring, cause i went outside for a walk alone or with friends with 0 money for years and i lived experiences that i will never forget

I think minecraft would be a lot more fun if they changed their game progression. Boredom would still be a problem but it would help a lot if you didn't have do mine or trade with villagers for your gear (both are incredibly boring). Terraria and Don't Starve (2 of my favorite survival games) allow you to get better gear through bosses and exploration, and sometimes with games like don't starve you'll use hambats and football helmets for most of the game. Although Terraria has an ending, you don't reach moon lord at the same time as the ender dragon. In fact I would compare the ender dragon to the evil biome bosses in time to kill. Maybe Minecraft should add a boss that you can kill relatively earlier in the game OR make the ender dragon the boss you kill relatively early on into the game. So that the players can build cool stuff but still have some goal to accomplish. This would allow servers that die in a week to last double the time. Also Minecraft bosses suck and definently need a change. If you prepare for the Edragon then you are overprepared. Potions are really only used in pvp.

    It’s too much, I think.
I want to play Minecraft. Like explore the world and build structures and make the world feel like my own. And I can do that…for around a month before I lose interest. I’m not playing the game in a boring way, so why do I still get bored and stop playing?

    • @jamminhead

Everyone has their limits, playing the same game for a month isn't sustainable for everyone

I think it's a problem with the games balance and the design of some features, and I disagree with the "If you don't like it don't use it" approach.
I don't like villages, so I try to ignore them. Emphasis on try. Villages spawn obnoxiously frequent, there are five all within a short horse ride from my base. Its frustrating trying to play the game the way I like when the game is constantly handing me the solution to all my problems on a silver platter.
I don't like villager trading, elytras, or mending either. So I'm not supposed to use those right? But what even are my options? Grinding for enchantments at an enchanting table? Building ridiculously slow mine cart tracks? Just being content that my armor trimmed fully enchanted netherite gear is just going to crumble to dust eventually? I might as well be playing 1.8 because those features haven't changed since they were added, and are seriously showing their age within the modern game.
Minecraft is a survival game as much as a sandbox one, player are meant to use the tools provided to them. It's not the responsibility of the player base to design the game so they can have fun. It's a problem with the game, not the community. The fact that videos like this keep being made prove that.

    • @jamminhead
      @jamminhead  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That's a fair argument, I don't fully agree with what you're saying but I get where you're coming from.
My solution to your problem would just be to pace yourself or use powerful additions to the game in limited amounts, stuff like only getting a villager for mending after you get good gear from mining, or using an elytra but not using firework rockets.
And to push a bit against your point of questioning your options, enchantment tables are genuinely good ways to get solid enchants, mining quartz in the nether or harvesting sculk from an ancient city are both really good ways to get gear, and you don't need to just rely on slow minecarts, you can find or breed a fast horse, you can make an ice boat pathway, and you can make a tunnel through the nether. And if you think that netherite armor isn't worth it unless you have an enchant you don't like, just don't go for netherite armor, Diamond armor is nearly identical in terms of how much protection it grants from damage sources and it's much more obtainable and easy to repair via the anvil,
I think saying you may as well go back to 1.8.9 is a bit silly, it seems like you're just looking at the game for its progression instead of all the cool blocks, mobs, and other features that get added. And to counter your point of old features from 1.8.9 never being touched up on again, I completely disagree. Because although the basic enchantment table itself hasn't been changed, efficient ways to get exp have, and although Minecarts haven't been buffed at all, there are still many better ways to get around your world that don't require an elytra,
And although there's no good solution for repairing trimmed and netherite armor without mending, switching to 1.8.9 just completely removes your option to get netherite or trims at all.
And to touch a little bit on Minecraft being just as much of a survival game as it is a Sandbox game, you have tons of world options to change your survival world to fit your level of difficulty, you can remove structures, make terrain harder to traverse, set the world to a deadly biome, and more. These changes are just as valid at changing the difficult of the game as changing the literal difficulty from peaceful to hard. Not to mention the fact that if there are too many villages near you, you can just kill the villagers, it does not take a ton of time and it removes that silver platter that the game is trying to hand you.
Overall I think you have a valid point, but I think that there are some solutions to your problems that you're not utilizing.

minecraft has become a game where you have to think very hard about game design and then make your own rules to exclude certain features from your experience. it can be hard to realize that a certain feature ruins the game for you, and even harder to think of a way to fix it. it requires deep self-reflection and dedication to the game. you'll also have to struggle with the temptation to break the rule and it gets WAY harder in multiplayer, when, for example, someone who builds an iron farm offers you a free stack of iron, while you wanted to mine everything by hand.
it is the game developers who should try to craft an engaging experience for the player, that is balanced to encourage play styles that are fun. but more and more, this job was pushed onto the players themselves in minecraft and not everyone has good judgement of game design. also, new/returning/casual minecraft players won't realize what they have to do and just get bored, thinking "seems like i've outgrown minecraft"
this is actually the reason i went back to playing minecraft beta 1.7.3 and earlier versions. these are the last versions of the game where the game design was more or less completely coherent. later versions started to lose focus more and more.

I hear the whole "you're making it boring for yourself" thing with starfield a lot. The difference between minecraft and starfield is that minecraft gives you the tools to be creative, while starfield is pretty empty and is missing any of those tools.
