  • The Minelab Vanquish series metal detector, we review the differences between the 340, 440 and 540 models. We compare the specifications and review the different search modes and settings. We take a look at accessories that are included with each model. I hope this video will help you understand the differences between these three metal detectors.
    Thank you so much for watching!

    Great video Laurie. My wife purchased the 540 pro pack. She will be using it in the spring. Tried it out in our test garden along with my nox 800. Performance was awesome. I think she will have a blast using this machine. Thanks for the informative video, we both enjoyed it. Merry Christmas.

      The 540 and 800 get along really well. For years my Equinox would interfere with Eric's machines. I didn't get interference but he would.. When I would see him creeping up into my zone, I would follow behind him with my coil facing his back.. I could see him struggle for a minute before he would turn around and see me lol.. Well with the Vanquish I can now swing side by side with him. Both machines don't interfere with each other! We can finally detect side by side lol.. Good and bad I guess ha ha!

    If you are new to the metal detecting hobby I would highly recommend you wait until you have enough money to buy the 540 over all the models here. The reasoning is the high iron bias programming that is set into all three machines can cause you to miss Target's that are next to iron and only the 540 gives you a low bias setting so you can pick those targets out much easier. That alone is worth the price difference but it has so many other expanded features from the other two models that you could buy this machine and never need to trade up in the future... Something I can't say about the other two models. Just my two cents as a 540 owner as it's a great machine for the money.

      Steve, when I was testing my Vanquish 340 I got cheap on an open box deal for the first time I was in coin mode in a very trashy yard. I got a solid 29 American quarter signal at about two inches, but when I dug the hole a giant rusty nail was there. So I checked the hole with my pinpointer and the quarter was there. Maybe a fluke but that`s what happened. But I sure would love to have the 540 Pro Pack. Can`t afford it. I`m slowly building and off grid solar power system for my camper to have "free" air conditioning and water distilling/emergency heat in the future to save on my rising electric bill so I can afford to buy more food and prepping supplies. I`m on a tiny fixed income in a very rural hurricane zone and have declared an obsessive war on power outages and power companies. LOL! My relatives think I`m nuts...but I`ll have electricity when the power fails. They won`t.

      IF you’re a newbie I’d agree. I’m experienced and I gotta be honest with the 340 - for the price and for my needs - is unbeatable. I can tell iron from a good target myself and although I’ve used the 540 and loved it too, the 340 suits me just fine tbh.

    I used my Vanquish 340 under power lines at full sensitivity and it seemed to do well. I haven`t done any in ground depth tests yet due to crazy weather and neighbors using their yards as a shooting range. But now I have a set of recording studio headphones that block ear damaging gunfire to use when detecting. Even on the lowest sensitivity the Vanquish is a great park or tot lot machine. My suggestion to someone looking for a recently lost ring is set the detector to jewelry mode on lowest sensitivity unless the ring was dropped in tall grass. If it was break out the weedeater. Everyone should buy a Vanquish. If you`re a beach vacationer this is the machine to take along. For the average user it`s as good as anything else and a whole lot better than the cheap mass produced toys on the market.

      @@RelicDirtyhands I noticed right away too that using the coil to pinpoint exactly where a coin is is very easy...just move the coil backwards and right when it stops beeping the coin is at the tip of the coil. But you need a pinpointer anyway to quickly locate small coins stained by the soil or tiny pieces of jewelry. Thankfully I was asked to review a no name pinpointer and it turned out to be a very good one and now I`m spoiled. It did have an issue though...batteries died fast. Then one day a new battery died. I discovered it was having battery contact issues. So I put an earplug in the end to put pressure on the battery. Problem solved. I think they stole part of the Garrett Carrot circuit because this pinpointer has great depth and sensitivity to small targets.

    I've been away from metal detecting for almost 10 years now and was pleasantly surprised to see Minelab has started competing in the beginner/intermediate detector range. The 540 looks to have all the bells and whistles of the old E-Trac series for 1/5 the price!

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but it’s crazy that they even marked this as a beginner machine. Finally Simultaneous multiple frequencies in an entry level machine. I was shocked at its depth and accuracy, I felt it was closer to an intermediate machine, the 540 anyway ☺️

      @@marshalllove It is the detector that I reach for first, when heading out. It is nice to finally have a multi frequency detector for salt water.
      It is supposed to work in EMF environments, like under power lines, but I find that along with interference, sensitivity also drops. Not a big issue for me.
      Finally, if you do relic hunting, be sure to turn off all iron bias or you might miss something interesting.

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unsure, the 540 comes with a 12” coil that does get deeper. I know it can hit a silver ring at 11 inches deep. The larger the item is, the deeper it can be heard. I’ve dug fox holes to uncover deep large items. Unfortunately I don’t have teapot full of silver and gold to test. Silver is such a high conductor and can be found deep. Gold is a little harder as it’s a lower conductor. I’ve done tests on small gold but not large gold. It’s really difficult for me to say, soil mineralization can also reduce depth.. unsure how mineralized your sites are. It may be different than my results. The Vanquish with the 12” coil was impressive when compared to my equinox with the 11” stock coil. As for settings relic mode should be the deepest setting as it uses the lowest recovery speed. This works great for low to moderate trash.

      @RelicDirtyhands  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Headphones are important not to bug everyone on the beach ☺️ what I like about the 440 is the pinpoint button, it really helps to locate the target. The 340 will still find stuff like the 440. 👍

      @@RelicDirtyhands ok, but if I have a separate pin pointer, will the PP option on the 440 still help. Or is the portable pin pointer better? Also, I have beats headphones that are wired, so If the 340 has a headphone Jack, I’m ok with headphones. Just kinda wanna know if the 440 extra options and buttons are worth it. Thx

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have advanced multi IQ technology in a beginner/intermediate machine. It uses multiple frequencies at once simultaneously. The DD coils are much better in mineralized soils and have great separation. I used a concentric for years but personally prefer the DD 😊. The Vanquish is a lot different than the Ace series ☺️

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All three use Multi IQ and are excellent machines, you can say the 340 is the easiest for a new detectorist to learn and the 540 is a little more advanced. I like recommending the 540 as it gives you room to grow.

      Because i will not need Pinpointer, i use regular headphoves on all my detectors including Equinox800 , and i dig every signal. I think to sale my 800 and get 340. When i need deep detector i use Detech Chaser or Nexus.

      @@dusty1498 We owned an Ace 200i and the Vanquish 540. They are both great beginner machines but I like the multi IQ technology that the Vanquish has. The shaft on the vanquish can be adjusted down to fit a child or adult of any age. The difference is the Ace 200i runs only one frequency but the Vanquish runs multiple simultaneously. Low frequency detector are great for finding deep targets and high conductors like silver. High frequencies react great with gold. It’s like having multiple machines in one working for you at the same time. The result is it gives you an accurate target reading. The vanquish also has a fast recovery speed, meaning it can recover fast and accept another target.

    I've been told that the detector doesn't do well on Canadian coins . Is that true of modern coins ??

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pre 2000 coins are Nickel and come into the range if 12, 2000 and up steel core coins come in on the low scale 2-6. Which is accurate when looking at the conductivity of the metal it’s made with. Many detectorist focus on high tones therefore will miss them, they will also miss the gold items. Yes it beeps on our coins but it’s up to the detectorist if they will dig them or not. ☺️👍

      For 500 Euros you can get the Equinox 600 or the Vanquish 540. Both are excellent detectors with new multi IQ technology. The equinox 600 has more adjustments for the more advanced user. They are both deep machines 👍. If you think you will be metal detecting in the water, I would suggest the EQ600. If you are a beginner, I would recommend the Vanquish 540.. it’s much easier to learn and use. I hope this helps!
