Thanks man, the dremel trick worked for me. My ignition quit on me in a parking lot 30 miles from home. I would have spent a lot of money on towing if it weren’t for your video.
At time mark 04:03 there's a white tab that can be pressed down on without force so that one can move the shifter with having to remove the column cover. Please note that this content should have stated this covers the automatic transmission. peace
First off I didn’t even know they made these things manuals and I’ve had about two dozen of them maybe three dozen….. I’m sorry my free video was not good enough to your high standards….
@10:55 I think you mean to say you want to take the new cylinder out, and have it rekeyed to the car's original key. Also, make sure you keep the OLD transponder ring assembly on the NEW ignition / steering column, or else you'll have to pay a lot more to have a locksmith come and program a new set of chipped keys to work in this car. even better, pull out the new ignition cylinder before you install it, then get a ride to your locksmith. and next time, you don't have to take out the steering column. just unplug the wires and remove the sheered bolts.
@10:26 resistance??? this isn't a GM from 1993. the key has a transponder chip and the ring is both an antenna and a receiver for the tp signal. what you're taking about is the old GM VATS system, but this is a Ford.
Good morning great info ..😊 ? my wife is thinking of a smaller SUV maybe 10 years old or so we thought of the Ford do you have any recommendations pro or con on different models like I said about 10 years old thank you 4 wheel drive 🖖🏽😊
Really depends on the cost I think the Ford escape is a lot of bang for your buck it’s probably one of the cheaper SUVs that last a very long time just make sure you check the passenger side right rear wheel shock support tower they rust out I make tons of video on them other than that I would get a Toyota or a Honda Chevy Equinox is not bad as long as it has the 3.4 engine in it and I think the Saturn Vue with the 3.5 Honda driveline 2004 to 2007 is a very good vehicle as well
The Clay Way I know my wife wants to stay under $10,000 maybe $5000 that’s all up to her she thinks the RAV4 like a 2010 would be good and I kind of agree I like your recommendations also yes I definitely knew about the rusting problem with the Ford I think I had a Ford fiesta or something years ago that had that problem catch you later
mot ikswelborw well let me know if you can find a 2010 Toyota RAV4 for $5000 because I will buy everyone of them on the road lol Here in Michigan I could not find one for that cheap that’s for sure
No not without reprogramming but it only cost $75-$125 to have a locksmith come out and make & program a new key to it so you’re probably better off doing it that way. At least that’s how much it cost me the last time I had one made for my escape
When that happens to me I TUG on the steering wheel which feels very stuck (beyond normal) and then key works as normal. Seems it's due to when the engine was shut down the position of front wheels has stress on steering wheel.
Dude I have adhd ! I couldn’t pay attention with all the subtitle stuff , I’m just trying to see what all needs to be replaced, like do I need new door locks or? Thought I came across something about ford making keys to match current but sounds cheaper to leave ford out of anything 😂
I’m just trying to replace the actual ignition cylinder as mine is completely rusted stuck. The original key won’t even go into the ignition. So I have a new replacement ignition cylinder and can’t find a single video that actually shows you how to simply replace the cylinder.
Probably because it’s not simple… you’re looking for simple when you should be looking for results…. Sometimes you can’t drink champagne on a beer Budget ….
@@sharpcarco yeah just realizing it’s something that they just didn’t care/or think about when designing the ignition cylinder. I got the vehicle started thanks in part to your video along with my sheer stubbornness and refusal to give up. Now I’m trying to tackle the releasing the ignition bracket that controls the steering lock. Unfortunately the third bolt was already broken off. The other two came off easy and allowed the steering column to drop down making it easier to access the ignition switch. Trying your dremel trick which I’ve had to use before on a frozen idle adjustment screw. It’s just a farm truck for me so I’ll be happy just to get her drivable again.
@@sharpcarco all the videos I found telling you how to replace the ignition cylinder require you to be able to turn the cylinder with the key…which makes me wonder why one would be replacing it if the key can operate it. Little frustrating but I’m making progress. Couldn’t get a good enough angle on the bolt with the dremel so ended up just grinding the bracket of the steering column with the dremel. Your video definitely helped. I can drive the vehicle now which I mainly just use as a farm truck for moving stuff around and 4 wheeling into the forest.
Possibly a broken crank sensor, When you’re turning the engine over look on the dash and does the RPM gauge go up? If it does not more than likely you have a broken crank sensor
Well here on TH-cam the clay way sometimes we try to take a little bit of pride in the work that we do so we don’t take a screwdriver and a hammer and destroy something at least not on my channel anyways…. And that’s why the channel is called the Clay way, But you’re more than welcome to do whatever you want on your own channel. That’s the great thing about TH-cam anybody can make a video even white boys , then you could call it the white boy way.
This method is so drawn out so complicated so much unnecessary work like this is ridiculous what in the actual fuck is this guy thinking you must be high or something "#i❤CMA" Lol
Unnecessary work? Enlighten us on how you do it? And I assure you I am not high. I would have to think that you would be the one that is high since you can’t understand the basics……

That’s awesome I’m glad it helped you out!!!!
Thanks, this video helped a lot!
You, good sir are a damn Genius!! Respect!
Well I certainly wouldn’t go that far but I appreciate the compliment thank you very much it’s a good way to wake up for sure!!!
Thanks 👍🏻 Brother from Alabama RRR
Before going to all that trouble, try wiggling the steering wheel, that worked for me. It was posted on another youtube channel. Cheers!😀
it was mentioned in this video you were probably skipping through it…. Nbd You can lead a horse to water you just can’t make them drink
Thanks for sharing. This will be quite helpful to me.
Good stuff bro... I like your comment at the end don't be the next of them be the first of you...
Sweet repair!

Good video. Thanks
I'm a Ford fan and have 4 of these rust free. 3 are 4wheel drive , and one 4 cylinder
Badass .. question i lost power to the fuel pump and starter.. starter jumped works but the key won't crank it or turn on pump.. did the switch fry?
Was chasing an overheating issue (fans only work when radiator blows and has no water) temp gage doesn't pass middle cooling system is refreshed
Fuses are good relays I do not know but jumped relay to see if fans work
I’m not certain what you have going on . I wish I could be of some help with that situation.
I love the random trivia
Glad to hear it 😎

what you're taking about is the old GM VATS system, but this is a Ford.
Mine does it when it's really cold and I can hold a lighter or a small torch to the cylinder and it'll turn. So what's up with that
Gump, your a dam genius!
Very useful thanks

i fixed mine for 20 dollars and 20 minutes, using a push button starter,
there is a youtube video on this, its so simple
If you had an Escape with no key, could you get a steering column with a key from the junk yard and change it?

Some evil git had gotten into my Escape and buggered with the steering unit and now the key won't turn. What positive advice would you suggest?
AT 2:47 How did you get that cover back on? MIne didn't break but it will not snap back into place.

I have the same car but it's the theft button
And the alarm stays going off
2001Ford escape it cranks but won't start no power going to coils or plugs

There is a much easier way
