My father was a deacon & abused my sister & me all our lives. Disgusting. Neither of us told the other until I found out he abused my 9 year old daughter. I broadcast it, we confronted him, & forced him in to treatment. Tore our family apart. I forgave him but relationships ended. I ended up being a nurse & for 28 years helped victims become survivors. I am a 40 year old woman. I was a Gateway member for 5 years in grand prairie tx. I was raped by my female cousin at the age of 5. I was also abused by men my whole life. I went to the staff for help at Gateway and they did not help me when my abuser was at the church. They pulled me in a room as i cried and screamed. They did nothing. Ill never forget that. Was in 2016. On and off id tell myself that churches are BS and God is not real after this. Thank you for speaking because it helps me see its not God that didnt help me. God is the only one who will. You inspire me! Thank you soooo much! Bless you!!!
Please contact Cindy and tell her about this. I am so sorry this happened to you. It is time to expose the darkness lurking in churches. May Jesus hold you close, comfort and heal your broken heart, soul, and spirit.
So sorry that your cousin violated you. I'm not sure though what any church could've done for you after so many years had passed? Would your cousin have allowed them to counsel him? Or have them take him to the authorities? With his age, I'd think most would feel uncomfortable even bringing that up for fear of violence towards them.
Prayers for your total healing from God our loving Father. No we can’t blame God for what happened to us because it was sin. Sun is the cause for what happens to us but HE is the HEALER and only God can heal us totally
As a person that was molested at the age of 11. Yes it affected me deeply and it stole my childhood . I always felt dirty and carried a spirit of shame. . Exactly, if you take advantage of a child sexually, if it is proven, there should be no statute of limitation at all. This man should be headed for jail.
In Australia there no longer is. In ninety five I fought the " statute of limitations" all the way to the Supreme Court. It cost me thirty five thousand dollars, but well worth it. Not only my abuser was convicted but many other since then.

She was a child; it was a crime. She can forgive him, God can forgive him, but there are temporal consequences for crime, and it should be ESPECIALLY true when the victim is a CHILD.
It seems like she wasn’t even sure she was abused for a long time. The time in which it took her to process the events, have no impact on his accountability. Just because you rob someone, and they don’t report it, doesn’t mean you didn’t commit a crime. The victim is not responsible for the abuser. The victims actions or lack of action has no bearing on if the event(s) was a crime or not, or if there should be accountability.
Sexual abuse is not a “mistake”. It is a sin and a crime. It was the leadership’s duty to report this to the authorities. If the perpetrator was truly repentant then he would have turned himself in and accepted the consequences.
That is true, before I committed to good and God and the Bible at 17-18, I started repenting confessing and desiring to make restitution, does it look like Morris was seeking to make things right with this woman? And Morris amazingly was our teacher on how to hear from the Holy Spirit or for him maybe the unholy one.
Isaiah 43:25 I am HE who blots out your transgressions for MY own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” It's called repenting please let us know about your transgressions since 1987 so we can remind you daily.
Absolutely correct. One day every one of those individuals will face our Creator. When you hurt one of His children, you have serious consequences and can read about it in the Bible. How many others did he do this to? I have personally known several just like him and they don’t do it to just once or twice to one or two and simply “grow” out of it.
This speaks to me. I was masterfully groomed by my female Christian school teacher at an IFB church. Hearing her story helped so much. From the time I was 12 until 18 she sexually abused me. I sued her and the church and just settled this past month. It took years to fight them. I couldn’t speak up until I was in my 40’s and had my own children. The more you tell your story, the more shame is dispelled and it gives others the strength to step forward.

Every time I watch pastor Morris I feel something telling me he is arrogant, critical and self-righteous, but I always push the thought away bc his messages line up biblicaly and he caries himself as though he's honoring God in a more serious way than other Christians. But after hearing this, I feel I need to trust my discernment more and not question my God-given gut so much...
I was molested as a 6/7 year old child by a cousin & my mom just passed last year at 89 & supported my cousin until she died. This is why I only trust God!!!

@@CARLPHILLY Sadly, people trust pastors too much. They are still human and the enemy wants to tempt them more than the average person because of the chaos it causes. You can't leave your kids alone with any adult, no matter who they are.
My husband & I Pastored churches.... we weren't taught to have background checks & immediately call the police until we worked with Foursquare churches in 1990. ❤
Morals and human decency require that anyone who ever learns of such abuse should report immediately. To say that "the Law did not require reporting " some time ago is totally irrelevant. Anyone who covers up child abuse or protects the abusers should be charged and gaoled if convicted. The Law of God is written on our hearts so the Law not requiring reporting is a futile and irrelevant argument. My immediate reaction when I found my son had been raped by my own husband (a church member and that it had been covered up by the Pastors of the church) is recorded in my own book "Father Provoke Not Your Child". Immediate reporting no matter who is involved is imperative.
@Papaspronator they were obligated to report it. You can be jailed for not reporting. I know a mom who waited 2 days, only because she knew a family member had already reported and she was put in jail.
Cindy, as another woman who was sexually abused as a child, you did the right thing in bringing this to light. No one has any idea what you have been thru except those of us who have also been abused. I am in my late 70's and I could never share my story until my 60's when my young grandson was put in a position of sexual abuse. We need to do whatever necessary to make the abusers stop!
It was brought to light already when she was 17, and the church, her family and him accepted his repentance, he was sent away from ministry into 2 years of counseling and this satisfied everybody involved so in 1989 they signed off on him going back into ministry. What seems to bring contention was that in 2004, she approached him for $50,000. Would you have done this? I did not. I had to walk through forgiveness for my abusers, not exacting justice. Vengeance belongs to God and God only. There is only one sin that is unpardonable and that is the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
@@paulaoyedele2081 You're conflating justice with vengeance. The Catholic Church put Spotlight on predatory priests. They had difficulty getting victims to talk and their stories were old as well. To those individuals who speak up immediately after being assaulted in any type of way, thank you for your courage. It just might save other people from the hurt and trauma you experienced. God bless you.
I am a victim of sexual abuse from a family member, and I'm about your age and I was 12 when it happened. I also watched Robert Morris for years and feel fed from his sermons, but it is a lifetime struggle being a victim and much in my heart agree with you and I'm very glad you stepped up and out with this. I was able to forgive my uncle in my heart only a year ago, and also accept finally this year (age 50) that the damage done at age 12 does last a lifetime. Stay strong in Christ my sister, you are helping people.
My sister was taken advantage of her pastor. She went to him for counseling & he knew she was vulnerable. He denied it! The church believed him. A few years later, more accusations came forth against that pastor by other church goers. The church elders visited my sister at home & apologized for not believing her. But what the church elders did was, send that pastor away to another church in a different state! They Covered his sin & let him continue to be behind the pulpit! It's like that in other churches! It caused believers to turn away from their faith! Thank goodness, she has come back to God but she went thru mental torment & lost her family. Shame on those leaders of churches that do that!!!
Yes. Shame for not being held accountable, and the victim has to suffer for so long. There are others who suffer silently. Who says the sufferers are to be blamed because they are affected by the crimes committed by someone else.
I pray he actually realizes the damage he did to that girl because he has yet to actually admit what he’s done. He has danced around it and he has minimized, but he has not admitted it.
@simplyandoime7344 i've yet to see the 'harbingers of justice' bring either justice or peace. Meanwhile, mercy and grace are not 'fair,' nor 'warranted,' but are not unjust. @@AE-pv9vc the offended doesn’t need to be forgiven of ANYTHING! They did NOTHING wrong! Stop minimizing other people’s trauma. Period! Those of you who are criticizing her for "waiting 30 years" need to keep a few things in mind: 1. Unless you've been through it yourself, you don't grasp the full power of fear, manipulation, and shame. There are countless examples where victims of sexual abuse have symptoms that linger for decades. 2. She clearly states in this interview that she was already telling people (even starting at 17), but she and the people supporting her found it necessary to cast an ever-widening net because the story kept falling on deaf ears. 3. As she herself describes, telling the story doesn't just affect her; a bombshell revelation like this can disrupt many lives, so that can cause reluctance to talk about it.
Let's be real, the bum had not been "restored." These so-called religious leaders had been fooling themselves and the congregations. This is a very powerful testimony and one that truly reflects the power of a real salvation and not just religious non-sense. I wish I could say that about the rest of the comments. I imagine if Robert Morris was somehow arraigned, tried, found guilty, and sentenced to death by lethal injection, there would be some that call themselves Christians would be very happy to be there for the event. We live in a very sad, religious country.
The entire Evangelical community need to take heed. This sinful conduct is pervasive in the church and becoming a stumbling block to persons who want to be saved.
People don't understand that for a victim of child molestation it is a life sentence for the victim. Most of its effects are not even realized until twenty or more years after the initial incident occurred. In church leadership with background checks no child molester is allowed to serve in any capacity of the church where he/she would have one on one contact with children. This is ministry 101!

No one who has ever committed rape or harmed a child should ever be allowed any kind of leadership position of any level in any church or ministry. Even if they have repented. The Bible is clear. If Moses was not allowed in the Holy Land, David was not allowed to build GOD'S Temple, then churches should follow the rules for any elder/leader in The Church - they must be above reproach, husband of only one wife, etc.

young lady is a term used to address a 'girl'....he did not call her a young 'woman'. Then your case would make more sense. (Many girls, at that age are definitely physically becoming young women). Young lady is NOT referring to her physical state....it is a term to respect a growing female.

As long as Morris referred to the victim as "young lady" it was accepted by his audience that Morris and his wife blamed the victim and said she had a Jezebel spirit. But, that's not acceptable now that we know that she was 12yrs old. It's really creepy to hear Morris tell how he chose his victims, plural, when he was leading an immoral lifestyle. Get the clip on him preaching that! He didn't come into accountability or step away from preaching for 2 years like he claimed, as evidenced by the archived newspaper articles announcing Morris preaching at various meetings. He even says that he released himself to preach again after only one month. Where is the transparency, repentance, accountability, etc. Most victims do not even realize they've been groomed. It's only when they hear stories like Cindy's that they realize what's been done to them. The statute of limitations needs to be changed.

If she doesn't forgive she will not be forgiven. Bitterness is a sign of unforgiveness. The only unforgivable sin in unforgiveness. She is saying that what Robert once was he still is. That denies the power of the gospel to change people.
She doesn't sound bitter. You're presuming that she hasn't forgiven. But nothing in this video indicates that she's vindictive. She rightfully spoke up because he was lying to the church recently. It was appropriate for her to have his account rectified for the sake of himself and the church. Truthful recognition of his wrong will help him truly repent.

As a victim of sexual abuses myself beginning at 12 years old, I know the heartache that you, your family and friends endured each time you would talk about this trauma in order to have the truth come out; just to have someone taken out of the pulpit and or a leadership role.

This is why we shouldn't put our trust in men only in God. This was wrong for them to send him to another church, they should have reported this.

It’s not a life sentence because the Holy Spirit is real and heals us.
Thank you for you for standing up for justice. I was sexually molested by my Great Uncle when I was 4 and 5 years old, and the Lord didn't let me remember this until I was 50 years old. I knew deep down that something had happened to me but I thought it was my dad, which he also sexually abused me. My story is devastating but Jesus has gotten me through everything of course. I have such a powerful testimony and getting ready to step into the destiny that God has called me to at 73 years old! I'm so excited because it's better than I ever dreamed or imagined possible! That's our Lord!!!
What an inspiration you are to others struggling. God does indeed bless us.
The Lord didn’t allow you to remember? Hmmmmm… okay
@@lisah.8838 No He didn't because I was a raging alcoholic on and off for 35 years like my dad and Jesus was protecting me during that time. During the night on February 11, 2001, 2 days after my birthday, I walked into my house and was coming out of a blackout. I went into a rage and was breaking everything in sight. I remember falling to my knees in the living room and all I said was, God please help me I can't do this anymore. I felt the power of God come over me and in 1 second He delivered me totally and I was finally free from alcohol. I drank and drove all the time and never remembered anything I did dozens of times unless someone told me what I had done. I never got a DWI and only have one speeding ticket in my life. If course now I know that I have a lot of angels around me at all times. Then in April after that a close Christian friend and a friend of hers were praying over me and suddenly I was seeing my Great Uncle and remembering some of the things he did to me. I saw enough and the vision stopped. My friend Gloria said she wanted me to see a Christian counselor she knew about and that she would pay for it. This counselor knew nothing about me. When I walked in that day and sat down we hadn't been talking for more than 5 minutes and she said, do you have someone in your family who was a Mason? I just froze for a few seconds and said yes. She said, he really hurt you didn't he? I said yes. I'm getting emotional as I am writing this so I'm going to stop now. I will write more later.
@@763parky Thank you. My Jesus is the best!
@@lisah.8838 Yes because I couldn't handle it until I was 40 years old because I was a raging alcoholic just like my dad. I will have to elaborate later. And no offense, but you don't need to be questioning anyone about why God didn't do something at a specific time because not only was I molested by my Great Uncle, but by my dad also, and that's a whole different story of devastation.
I'm sorry this happened to you!!! Thank you for telling your story!! I hope you are okay!
I was 4 the first time I was molested and I TOLD! I was 8 the next time and 2 men went to prison because I TOLD! It dosent matter what they say you always tell. By the way I was 12 the next time and I told then too. I am a strong Christian woman and I don't know the names if those men now that I am 70 but I forgave them long ago and had no counciling save the word of God. May you be blessed
Cindy, you didn’t deserve what you went through. Thank you for sharing your story. So many people have gone through similar experiences but are not able to speak out. You are a voice for many. May the Lord use you to bring healing to many hurting hearts. God bless you.❤
Is not a moral failure, it’s a crime. And if “properly disclosed” the police should’ve been informed.
I completely agree. The parents should have reported him immediately!
How can you say it’s not a moral failure? It is clearly a carnal mind that did this, not a holy spiritual mind that submits to Jesus’s Righteousness.
It is Both, a moral failure and a crime!!!
I think the biggest thing to do is pray for God's will. He didn't kill David for murder. And God called for death for adultery yet didn't kill David for adultery either. The Lord did send a prophet to confront him for his sin. That's a lot different then what's happening..
@@foxecarpentress4964 I’m clearly correcting the disingenuous statement that hides the criminal factor of the situation. Please, use rational thinking. If something is criminal, it is ALSO immoral.
After being in ministry for over 46 years, this just sickens my heart! This dear heart has been very courageous in sharing her testimony. God is beginning to cleanse His church of all these predators. The church is going to look much different because of those coming forth and sharing their testimonies! God bless!!

Why did your father, a Pastor not report it? You're talking about leadership, why didn't your dad do anything? Have you forgiven your father?
Thank you Cindy for being so brave and speaking out! Please know that when you speak out against wrong doing, you are not tarnishing the name of Jesus, but you are exposing the sneaky and vile acts done by people. DRAIN the swamp.
Correction! A 12 yr old is NOT a lady. That is a 12 year old CHILD. Not a young "Lady". An 18/20 yr old is a "young lady" .
yes
when you see a child as a lady, you are already perverted.
Islamic wouldn't agree..their great Mohammed married a 8 or 9 year old!!
Yes they are a child in age ...but THESE 12-18 YEARS OLD KNOW right from wrong! And build like Jessica Rabbit... It just didn't turn out the way she wanted...,.4 years ? As a mom I wouldn't let my daughter go get "ice cream " for 4 years with a 20 year old married man! Come on! I'm sad for her she has not healed, she needs to heal too, and move on...what does she want exactly? Did he ever apologize to her during this time , cause they were still communicating after all these years, no way I would be communicating with the man that raped me! It's all sick ...PRAYING FOR THEM ALL!
@@FocusedSojourner if she's past the flower of her youth let them marry...what does that mean in the scriptures?
What Robert Morris did was not just a sin. It was a crime. He should be in prison.
Agreed!
Yes.
Yes, and so many people are saying it was years ago. He repented. Forgive this poor man. Stop persecuting him!
They don't seem to realize that if the right thing were done when he was caught? His sentence would be 99 years in a maximum security prison. His entire life behind bars. Does he know what they do to pretty "Priests" that are pedophiles?
Unfortunately the time for prosecution has passed. The statute of limitations has expired. I am appalled by this. It never should have happened. Mr. Morris should not have been a pastor.
I agree he should not have been a pastor! What bothers me more is Christians saying he repented and we should forgive and move on. He didn’t repent, he lied, he said it was a young lady! He got up every Sunday and preached to the Church! Inside of him knowing what he did obviously without Conscience and didn’t step down and he repented after being caught! Christians are forgiving to him but I have heard very little about prayer for his victim! There is a video on you tube where she speaks about what she went through and it gave me more understanding!
Thank you for this interview and commentary , especially for its significant level of candor
Cindy, I am so sorry that it took so long for someone to finally her you. God heard your cry the first time it happened. Today, it is making a huge impact. God hates sin, and his sin has come up before the Lord. Healing is your portion. Keep telling so others may hear and be healed. God got you. Blessings
Thank God she is speaking out! It reminds me to NEVER get too comfortable when my kids are at church and involved in various activities. I need to ALWAYS keep an eye out ask questions look for possible clues and to ALWAYS pray for God’s protection. Thank you for sharing. So many lives can be changed bc of ur story.
I truly don't understand why the Father didn't pursue criminal charges. The outcome would have been better!
This has been therapy for myself because I was molested by an older man at 13 yrs old for several years also. thankfully, I am a child of God and I have overcome this era of my life a long time ago. This man has since passed away, but what he did was tragic to me as a young child. You are not alone. And you’ve done the right thing and I think you know be with you and may God shine his face uponyou❤
Cindy, Our hearts were broken for the horrors you experienced. Thank you for your courage. We have been praying for your healing and protection and for your family
I agree. God and we can forgive people for their crimes, but the consequences remain. Pastor Robert should never have been allowed to become a pastor.
I am so proud of you. You are a hero to so many people. I know God is going to use your story to help so many children, men and women. God bless your precious family and God bless you. You are all in my prayers..

It shouldn’t say “Robert Morris Accuser” it should say “Robert Morris Victim”
Yes
I believe The Spirit witnesses to me that as well.
Bothersome right?
Is it true?
Especially when Robert Morris has not denied what she explained he did to her. We really still have a long way to go in treating victims as victims.
Cindy, thank you. So many of us have not said a word about these kind of circumstances. Yes, in God’s timing.
Praises to God for His healing power in your life, Cindy. Thank you for being brave and strong!! Praying for you , Sis
Abuse is abuse no matter the age👍🏼
I am proud of her for coming out with her story. I too am a preacher’s daughter who was molested not once but twice in my childhood. I too remember exactly what I had on. This has helped me get past what happened to me and bring out the anger that has been hidden.
God bless her for telling her story. It must have been so hard to share this experience over and over to different churches with nothing happening for so long. I’m so glad that it’s finally being dealt with and that she didn’t give up. For those of you saying her parents failed her, please keep the main thing about this story the main thing: she was abused by a grown man. If anyone “failed” her, it’s the predator. 🙏🏽
You are a blessing to so many children and families. Thank God for your strength and your faith. I pray that you continue helping other families. Thank God for your honesty.

I was shocked to hear about this. It is a lesson not to put any so-called man of God on a pedestal.
A 12 year old is NOT a young lady!! This makes me sick!! Shame on him!! The fact that they say “young lady” shows he has no true remorse. 😢
young lady is a term used to address a 'girl'....he did not call her a young 'woman'. Then your case would make more sense. (Many girls, at that age are definitely physically becoming young women). Young lady is NOT referring to her physical state....it is a term to respect a growing female.
*she was almost 13 when it started & almost 18 when it concluded. She was a young lady. When I was 13 I had a 19 yr old girl come on to me at a friends house. I knew EXACTLY what was happening. I wasn't a naive little boy that didn't understand. I knew. I left the room & went to bed. I could have made another choice. But the choice was mine. Same thing happened here. I don't buy this story. I don't buy her. I don't buy it. MORE was expected from me when I was 5 years old.*
@@thetruthchannel349You referred to yourself as a boy , so I'm assuming you are a male . Girls and boys are very different in the way they process issues . Let’s not forget that her parent knew and did nothing. No police involvement. Bringing this up without lumping them into this whole thing is just as bad.
All I can think of is that her parents may have not wanted to put their daughter through more trauma with a trial and all that.
@@jenrichele yes I can understand that. The problem is if there was a time to prosecute him it was then. Also he already went through church discipline and restoration for 2 years. This was 35 years ago and as far as I know he has not done anything since. The decision to ruin someone over something he already paid the price for is terrible. Not to mention what it does to Gateway and all the great work they do all over the world and for the community. Just because you didn’t like the punishment given all those years ago. @@toddmatelski4650Morris is being Chastised by God, not Cindy Clemeshire. He has amassed a fortune of over 100 million dollars through his books and ministry. He never once in all these years sought to compensate her for her suffering and he was NOT honest with the church about her. If he had been honest, they would never have let him continue in leadership, as he would be unfit according to the Bible. All sins can be forgiven, but some bar you from leading the flock. If she doesn't forgive she will not be forgiven. Bitterness is a sign of unforgiveness. The only unforgivable sin in unforgiveness. She is saying that what Robert once was he still is. That denies the power of the gospel to change people.
That says it all.
Cimdy is very brave and what has been exposed about Robert Morris is the fact that he has NOT repented. He is a hypocrite...since he has continued to be manipulative..and lying.I consider that Ronert Morris should Not be allowed to preach at ANY church.

Hi Cindy. Thank you for telling your story. I understand what you're talking about being mature in your 50's and God's timing. As a victim of sexual abuses myself beginning at 12 years old, I know the heartache that you, your family and friends endured each time you would talk about this trauma in order to have the truth come out; just to have someone taken out of the pulpit and or a leadership role.
