  • Allegations that Gateway Church founder Robert Morris molested a 12-year-old girl in the 1980s sent shockwaves throughout Christian circles and the media last month.
Two days after admitting to “an inappropriate sexual behavior with a young lady,” Morris resigned from the megachurch in Southlake, Texas. His accuser, Cindy Clemishire, claims she was anything but a “young lady” when the incident occurred.
“It was a crime,” she said. “I was a little girl.”

Their pastor and the church failed this whole family.
That’s why the Bible says not everyone should be a pastor,
because you will be judged more harshly.James 3:1
Especially leading others astray or getting others to cover for someone’s sins.
Which is what these leaders and pastors did.

If Robert Morris repented for this sin years ago and have not fallen back into this specific sin then why is his repentance not good enough for the Christian? The same God that forgave and continually forgives our sin is the same God who forgave RM. This lady Cindy, said in a previous interview that RM "will do it again." How does she know? She's not God. If we confess out sins God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, according to the Bible. Though I am sad about what happened to Cindy, I'm confused as a Christian, by her angle and intentions.

@@ca-fl5he....well I know where they are coming from. This is only a Gateway problem because of Morris. This was a Shady Grove elders and her dad who brokered this silence deal. Have you ever been 16 years old? Have you ever been 14 years old?
I remember in my family home when my father's friend walked into our kitchen and was flirting with me and I was 16. It creeped me out ....that was 1986. I was the only one home and I had babysat his girls before. The only guys I had interest in were in my class. I was well aware of the inappropriate behavior he was displaying.
We had 3 interim teachers at our school, fresh out of teacher's college. Two women and one guy (23) and some of the school girls were crushing on him badly. They would write smutty Harlequin letters about scenarios with him.
I was 11 when my Grandfather tried to lay on me when I was sick and he had sent my brother and cousin to the arcade....and I freaked out with full strength and ran away.

I personally heard him, during a sermon, watching by TV, and he flat out said that a wonderful family had allowed he, Debbie and their first born son, move in with them while he was a young struggling Pastor. He said he had an inappropriate sexual relationship with this man's daughter. He said he repented...to God, the gracious father who opened up his home to them and to his wife, Debbie. He was talking about God's forgiveness and mercy because he dealt with a spirit of lust. He did not say it was a 12 year old child. He did not say he repented to HER but he did say it took him several years to stop even thinking these immoral thoughts. He said he went to the elders before he spoke in the pulpit about it and got their approval. However he did say the SPIRIT OF JEZABEL could also operate in a MAN. HE, also bought up the story of King David and Bethsheba. He did not say the age of "the girl ", (the child). I, along with other viewers thought the girl was later in teens. He said he was 20 or 21 years old but I'm almost sure he said anoyher thing about this situation but refuse to say ANYTHING I DO NOT REMEMBER him saying POSITIVELY. As I stated, he was preaching on forgiveness by God. I feel so sorry for Cindy, Debbie and the children and families on both sides.
I also had a really "odd" feeling several weeks ago when he spoke on the Fear of the Lord, stating that He learned not to Fear the Lord if he was living righteously and obediently and Walking with the LORD DAILY. Then he said, "Do you know what MY BIGGEST FEAR IS?? MY BIGGEST FEAR IS THAT DEBBIE will leave me!! ? I got the strangest feeling and looking back, perhaps it was the Holy Spirit. There was something when he said that, that made me feel strange ( and yes, suspicious. ) i have stated here ONLY WHAT I HEARD HIM SPEAK FROM THE PULPIT ON TV, WE ITH MY OWN EARS. I'M sure Debbie is undone by what is happening, but she KNEW HOW OLD THE GIRL WAS. SHE WAS LIVING THERE TOO. WERE things brewing several months ago to make Robert say his biggest FEAR was Debbie leaving him?? Can anyone get any insight from this and comment...DID YOU HEAR THESE 2 SERMONS? I KNOW IF YOU ATTEND GATEWAY on a weekly basis, you heard EXACTLY what I heard and WHAT is wrong with my discernment that I didnt pick up on more. I broke my back last year and since v then have been falling and fracturing my feet since then. Please help me to understand why I missed this. I can't wait to heal up and get back in church. Yes, our Pastors are sinner's too, but not millionaires leading huge churches and maybe smaller, intimate circles of prayer, praise and worship would be better for a time such as this. Thank you to anyone who might be able to help me a bit. BLESSINGS.🙏🙏🙏🙏💙🩵💙🩵💙🩵😢😢😊😊😊💞💕💞🤍🤍🤍

This story is troubling on multiple levels. Although I've experienced sexual assault many years ago, the only way to get past it is forgiveness. This story only presents one side without showing the spiritual journey of both individuals. Cindy's story of revenge will not help her heal. She needs to forgive in order to let go of the pain. I had to learn that lesson myself. Robert said he repented several times in his messages. The body of Christ (the church) should be very careful about playing judge and jury. Robert has a gift of teaching. I don't think an act of revenge helps anyone. I hope Cindy finds the counseling she needs. I found healing when I followed God's direction to forgive.

Some sins are not forgiven, because they are based on blasphemy against the Spirit. If someone known as a believer is abusive, have nothing to do with him, not even socializing.
The church should have cut him off, and for the safety of the whole community alerted the authorities.
The problem is that this man, who apparently believes in the gifts if the Spirit, does not believe he can overcome temptation even with God's help, something is wrong. I'd be praying till I got an answer for how to keep the person out of the community. Because he has not really repented and seen things from God's perspective. He's not likely to either.

Releasing the anger, bitterness, resentment, and any unforgiveness. I know, I am a sexual abuse survivor. And, sometimes deliverance is needed as well. Each situation is different. And, it's so true --- both sexes can be sexually abused. I am thankful that CBN is covering this ---- and actually facing it. It's important to speak truth because when sexual abuse is involved, there's a deep level of deception. She's correct about Robert Morris not speaking truth. It's the same with my abusers. I made a comment earlier and a person called Cross-stitch commented and I did comment back however I do not see it. Let me explain what I said and why and I still stand by my previous come as to why this lady is just now bringing this up at her age. And before you start jumping the gun on my reasoning you should at least hear me out. I've grown up in church just like her. I suffered from sexual abuse since the same age. Not the same circumstances with it being church but it was definitely by a professing Christian. I was also married 15 yrs to a man that verbally, physically, mentally and psychologically abused me. I'm 58 yo now and I am an overcomer. That's not bragging that's praising God for His kindness, mercy and grace. He gave me early on the ability to forgive others and I am grateful for this. Being in the church it simply doesn't equate in my head, heart, soul or discernment how after all this time... And a child of God... Why forgiveness is not a part of this lady's walk? I didn't say forgetfulness. That's a very hard point to get to. Whether Robert Morris repented to her or the way that she deems appropriate or not. That's on him. Although I think he should. You can't live your life waiting for apologies or repentance or people to get fired for you to get on with your life. I went to therapy as well. It takes years for some people. And yes, even up to 54, as I have been schooled by someone. You would think the community of faith would have helped her. IMO. Did her parents or didn't they basically agree to let it go? That's when the police should have been involved. That's when the church couldn't have swept it under the rug. That's when a bitter yet healing explosion could have begun. EVERYONE swept it under the rug. Families of faith what have you done?!?! What everyone at that time was doing!!! Fast forward to COVID... I remember when we back at church Robert Morris had a special Repentance show. It was overwhelming positive and highly commendable by a huge audience and so many people repenting. A lot of popular people were there. No one else but God knows whether he repented or not. It would have been the most oppurtune time. At this time bringing this up is only going to bring heartache to All the families involved. If I didn't feel like even more suffering wouldn't come upon her I wouldn't be praying for her now. Every once in a while we should take stock of ourselves and with kindness but firmness remove anything that is destructive, unproductive, and not benefitting to us. Prayfully doing so. Sweeping that all away and trusting God with your life to rule and reign in it. Otherwise I cannot help but hope and pray for her a brighter future but feel remorseful for her lost years and the destruction that has lied and will continue in her wake. The New Testament also says that every authority has been put in place by God, including the government. Cindy is abiding by the government law which says she is entitled to restitution. She is also reporting a sexual predator. These are not bad laws. She never tried to put him in jail.

"If your brother sins against you, go and confront him privately. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, regard him as you would a pagan or a tax collector." Matthew 18:15-17
“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift." Matthew 5:23-24

@user-un3be8uu7v I don't know. Does anybody stop sinning?? An alcoholic, a theif, a fornication...etc. if there IS an actual place where people change or "stop", a true thing called conversion ...if that is true for all of us...why can't it be true for him. Has there been any evidence of continued behaviour since? Ijs

Do you all understand that they did not have sexual intercourse? She had heavy petting with him. YES, its unexcusable given the ages. But again after seeing her interview with Allen Paar, things came out that have to question this woman's accountability. What is it that she wants, you must ask yourself that. And I will not answer anymore replies. This in itself should have not directed the course of her life. We should all at some point take stock of our lives and with kindness but firmness remove all that is unproductive, unhelpful and not worthy. Sweeping it all away and lifting it up to our Father. Letting Him resign and reign in you. Leaving nothing behind. He is who washes us clean and births forgiveness in us. True forgiveness in us not wanting nothing from no man other than to live in peace and harmony in their own lives. This is my third comment so I will not be responding to anymore that try to get me to understand anything other than what I already do. If she had kept this to herself all these years it would be another story. But she didn't. And she did ask for 2 million at one time from him. She admitted it. She said she was throwing a number out there because of all the therapy she had and will need. Let me remind you that it's called righteous judgement in the bible. And not "" feelings judgement " . Ask God, who answers His children.. which judgement your's is falling under. He is faithful and will show you. Peace and Blessings 🙏🙏🙏

The word “occult” means to “coverup” or”conceal”
When this happens in the church ,it’s straight up witchcraft.
Jesus Never tells us to handle sin this way…..bring it into the light.
Praying for real redemption and restoration
    for all those involved 🙏❤️‍🩹🕊️

I'm not sure if talking about someone who mistreated her 40 years ago in public over and over will help Cindy heal. I was wondering if she would do the same thing if pastor Robert Morris were poor and normal person.
Her actions have led people to reject Robert's teachings, which have been a blessings to many. And she goes on to harm the church, his family, and all of the staff there. If her parents knew about it and did not act the way she did now, I can tell something that is missing from her story.
Cindy is not revealing the truth to build herself or others; instead, she uses her side story to get money and destroy the Church.
Please Christians wake up , If we call ourselves Christians, we must act like Christ.
The Bible is replete of stories of individuals who began weak, sinful, and had a poor past, but God used them.Paul, Peter, Mary Magdalene, Zacchaeus, and so many others.
Why now disqualified Pastor Robert for God's grace to use him and continue uses him?
There is clear verse how we should treat each other in this case.
    1 Corinthians 6:7 NIV
The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?

This is just so sad. The problem with concealing these is, it’s difficult for such leaders to call each other out.
God is still on the throne. He knew this will come out, He knows how to deal with it.
    Cindy, you’re in our prayers.
