  • We continue our Mustang Mach-E EV road trip after spending a few days in Las Vegas. In this installment, we visit some sites along the way to Los Angeles. In LA we caught up with the Mustang Mach-E Ocean to Ocean Reimagined Tour at the headquarters of Carroll Shelby. After that we head to Encinitas to begin our working vacation.
    Check out the video for lots of EV charging info plus our take on the NEW Meow Wolf Las Vegas - aka Omega Mart. We also visit 7 Magic Mountains, Bagdad Cafe, and the site of the first McDonald's Museum.

    When planning I usually add 30 minutes for each stop (though most are shorter) but it's good for planning. I think I must have stopped in Hisperia also (instead of Victorville) because it looked exactly the same...in fact, you may have used exactly the same charger as I did :) I did charge in Baker only because I was hungry so between restroom and a burger, I got pretty much my 80%. In any event SoCal is very EV friendly as to charging availability.
    I remember the Mustang introduction in 1964 and then about a year later Carroll Shelby brought out his Shelby Conversion of the Mustang....and in the genealogy of the Mustang most of the Mach E haters have no memory of the original timid Mustang based on a Falcon frame...its only remarkable characteristic was the form factor...but Carroll is the guy that made it roar and it is those who insist on the roar that hate the Mach E...but it is interesting that Carroll, himself, would have moved on to the "next car" (aka Mach E) with interest...not surprising. Great video, as usual. Good balance between peculiarly Mach E information and your touristy stops and surroundings. Thanks, as always.

    Hey guys, great videos. I’ve been thinking about getting a Mach-E and your videos are very informative. Question for you: I see I-70 is still closed through Glenwood canyon. Did you make your way back to Denver fork SD yet? I’m interested to see what route you’ll take.

    • @andersonpg
      @andersonpg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We made it back to Denver while Glenwood Canyon was still open.
      CDOT is actually having problems with people taking their own detour routes. It's causing some issues for some local communities and last week a Greyhound bus got stuck on a gravel road. cotrip.org/home.htm
      I was checking the weather before we made our trip back. I was contemplating just avoiding that area completely and using I-40 to I-25 in Albuquerque. But we came back during one of the dry heat waves so it turned out to be a non-issue.
      Note: I'm finally editing the return trip video and it should be up on Tuesday. I show some footage of driving through where the mudslides happened.

    Great vlog guys.
    Liv, question. And you can tell me to sod off if you desire.
    Do you do much driving?
    Do you prefer conventional driving mode of 1 pedal if you do?

    • @Livshaka
      @Livshaka 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahah, I'd never tell you to sod off! I'd tell you to bugger off!
      JUST KIDDING! I don't mind at all!
      So I drove a bit in the beginning and I find it quite challenging. I drive with my left foot crossed over and I find the precision and responsiveness of the Mach-E to be a bit difficult. I was getting more used to one-pedal driving and then we got rear-ended. I haven't driven since then because I'm so nervous of anything else happening to the car! A couple weeks ago when we went up and down Mount Evans and the Mach-E shut down, Patrick had to drive the rest of the day with 1 pedal turned off, so it's really stuck in my mind now that I need to get used to driving the Mach-E with conventional configurations just in case anything happens. So ya basically, I don't do much driving now...I plan to....and I want to get good at 2 pedal before I switch to 1 pedal. I think if I didn't have leg injuries, I'd be a 100% 1 pedal fan!

    For your road trips, which driving mode do you use? Also, do you use one-peddle on road trips, too? I'm an owner for 2 days and most of my driving is commuting on freeway and so trying to figure out the best settings for efficient driving.

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have it in Engaged with 1PD almost all the time just because I like the feel of it. I believe Ford has said it the modes won't have much impact on efficiency especially when you are doing mostly freeway driving. I might try to do some comparisons in August if I can find a way to make the tests accurate.

    • @avinsharma7241

    I just tried Mach-E AWD standard range. Got 17kWh/100km (average over 1100km, 70% on highway, at usual speed at 120km/h) that would be somewhere 3.6miles/kW (if my calculation is right). In the city, I was even getting 14kWh/100km ( 4.4mpkWh?). I thing saying it how many kWh per 100 units (miles or km) is simpler.

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I wish you could switch between the two ways of displaying efficiency.

  • @tube1906
    @tube1906 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    great vlog. you started with near full and 245 mi of range. what would you say is your average range on this trip between charges?

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was averaging 3.1 miles per kWh. Since the battery is 88 kWh, that translate to about 270 miles of range for a full charge. Of course, I stopped more often than that just depending on needed breaks and location of the chargers.
