Last time we stopped by the Bottletree Ranch a few months ago, we just had to lift the chain link that keeps the gate closed. It wasn’t locked. We went in and took photos, left some donations in the wooden well, and put back the chain link to close the gate on our way out. If not mistaken, there was a small sign on the gate at the time that said guests are welcome to come in that’s why we went in.
I’ve made this trip many more times than you-easily over 100, but you showed me so many places I’d never heard of nor seen. Congrats Josh on a great video! Especially the Route 66 stuff!
Someone told me there was a scary height situation in Death Valley heading to California and this scared me from driving, is this true? Is this the only way to get to lax?
This is the exact route I take with my kids and we stop at almost everything on your list every time we go to vegas ...3hr trip takes us about 10 hours
Were from Northern California(San Jose) so its a 8 hour drive without stopping except for food and gas. We drove Feb 2020 just before all Hell broke loose, the pandemic, and it honestly seems like 20 years ago because of all the life changing stuff that's happened. We have reservations for this February again and I look forward to the drive and hopefully things will be more back to normal again.
"Don't knock it 'til you try it" - words to live by. Thanks for this, we'll be heading this route on our December trip. I don't think we'll be able to do all of these though ahah. I've been to the Mad Greek Cafe from a work trip five or so years ago. There's a place nearby that had what seemed like thousands of craft sodas too.
I loved watching this. I was born in Barstow and much of my family still lives in the area. It was nostalgic seeing all of the things that you mentioned. I’m glad you brought up Dell taco! LOL we are very proud of that. Another yummy thing that locals like to do is get the secret sauce and mix it with their hot sauce and use it to as a dip for our fries and whatever else. I grew up going to much of these places but there are a couple new places I haven’t yet been to. Thanks for putting this out! I loved it!
Made that trip several times back and forth but never stopped at any of those attractions..Used to come to Vegas twice at year from 2002 to 2012 when I got married..I'm in Italy, kids and this Covid kept me away from Vegas for a long time..now I can't wait to get back!
Wow! I’ve literally have been making this trip from Simi Valley to Vegas since 1984, when I moved from Vegas. Then in 99 I moved back to Vegas until 2009. During that 10 year period I was making the Trip at least every month, I would always take the 14 to Pearblossom Hwy to the 18, into Victorville. Which is a nice little trip in itself. But I never knew of taking the old Hwy 66 from Victorville to Oreo Grande and the neat things there! I knew the rest of them because I’ve made the trip a 1000 times. In the late 90’s I would always stop(both ways) at the Lenwood exit where the Outlets at Barstow is. Right before the Outlets was a Starbucks, I believe it was one of the first ones in that whole area. Nice Video! 😇
I’m glad you updated your la to Vegas video. I’ve stopped at many of the locations. It makes the 5 hour trip a lot more exciting. Also terrible’s and 7 magic mountains look like a complete ghost towns from when I went during summer 2021.
Seen most of these, cool, but definitely do it once sort of thing. The Eddie World and the Chevron are quite interesting, never been to either, large gas stations haven't really seen them in CA, seems more of an out of state thing. Got my CC info stolen at the gas station in Baker near the thermometer definitely had a CC scanner. Usually stop at Victorville Costco to get gas now. I will say though, as a Californian, who has only seen Cracker Barrel on road trips, there is one in Victorville. Those chocolate cakes and fried apples are worth a stop.
Great video! My wife and I are going to Vegas around Thanksgiving and we are definitely adding a few of these stops. Didn’t realize there was so much to see along the way. Hopefully Elmer’s opens again.
For Elmer's bottle tree ranch I'm pretty sure it's still open. They still have a donation box and I know there were people inside the house in the back when I went in August. Also you missed an abandoned water park just past Barstow
@@SeaSlug09 My husband (a photographer) and I but mostly him (Lol!) was very disappointed when we left home really early (about 2 mos. ago), so we can catch sunrise with cloudy skies with the intent to take pictures of the abandoned waterpark before other ppl get there, only to find it enclosed with 10-foot high chain link fence.
Man, I did a two week work related trip 6 years ago between LA and Las Vegas. I wish I was able to see this video back then to plan the weekend to make this trip.
The guy who runs the Alien Jerky place is a racist jerk... I wouldn't patronize it. Also, surprise you didn't include the Pinball Museum right across the way from the Vegas Sign! It's an absolute must.
One place you missed wanted to give a mention is the Skyline Drive In located at the exit "Old Hwy 58" The Drive In is still in operation and plays all the new movies. I know the owner of the place, maybe you can check it out next time you are up this way.
You forgot to mention Hodge Road! Hodge Road is a valley on an exit between Victorville and Barstow where people go out to the desert and shoot guns. Plus it’s free!
Are there a lot of gas stations on route 15 from Las Vegas to Ontario,California.I will be driving during the night with family and I was wondering if the highway is well lit and a lot of rest stops on the way or will you be driving like 30 or more miles in the desert with nothing around as I’m taking family and was wondering about safety.
I once made that trip in 3 hours and 20 minutes from West L.A. to just outside Vegas... where I got a speeding ticket on the way down that last long hill! No way to go that fast with all that traffic on the 15 these days.
The two Del Tacos are still owned by the founder of Del Taco, Ed Hackbarth. They are not part of the franchise. We used to see Ed on weekends clearing tables. These two are not like any other DelTaco. If Del Taco is not in your wheelhouse any where else you should stop here and have the original Barstow Taco.
You forgot to show that giant solar powered electric car charging station in Baker. The last time I stopped there for gas, there was ONE car being charged among the many charging stations. I guess it isn't comfortable waiting in the desert heat!
If we want to make the stops both going to Vegas and coming back to LA, how would we break up the stops? Would love to get suggestions from everyone. Thanks!!
well, we drove from LA to LV and didn't see anything from that list. maybe we went on the wrong road, but there was nothing but shredded tires (over 100!).
If you drive from LA to Vegas without stopping it takes about 4-5 hours. If you plan to stop off at places along the way, expect to spend the whole day exploring. Leave at 8am and get into Vegas at about 7pm.
Do they not have the big, yellow Desperado roller coaster anymore at that one hotel in State Line? Back in the day, they used to have a nice mini-amusement park there.
We've been debating going to Vegas but have no idea where to stay in Vegas with 2 young teenagers that won't be shady. Any suggestions of a nice place?
Southstrip: New York New York or MGM Grand (Honorable mention, Park MGM). Midstrip: Paris or Bally's (Honorable mention, Planet Hollywood). Northstrip: The Mirage or Treasure Island (Honorable mention, The Strat). In my honest opinion, I would stay at The Mirage, but it's up to you to decide! Hope you have an awesome trip!

Calico Ghost Town is the best ever! Well maintained and a variety of things to do.
It is a fun stop for sure!
Wow!!! I have driving from LA to Vegas so many times and missed most of these stops. Thank you!!!!

I'm driving to Vegas in January. Perfect video!
Hope you enjoy it!
I was happy to see Zzyzx Road was included!!
This is the exact route I take with my kids and we stop at almost everything on your list every time we go to vegas ...3hr trip takes us about 10 hours
Damn you’re mileage must be through the roof
That’s awesome I do the same!

Wish I had of seen this before our road trip from LA to Las Vegas last summer. I feel I missed so much.
Awesome man! Your first LA-Vegas video is how we found your channel, great update! Cant wait to travel again!! Love this drive.
That's awesome to hear! Been a crazy ride since I made that video back in the day haha. Figured it was time for a new one!
This was super helpful for trip planning, thank you
Greetings from Vegas
Hello!
been to that del Taco more then a few times on the way to lake mead and back to California a must stop by place or on the way las vegas

Tried the del taco in August 2016 when the typical forest fire in cajon pass burning 38,000+ acres. It was so good.
I've done this drive! Great video!!

We had a walk around Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch last week. Was nobody around at the time but the gate was open.
Great and beautiful drive my friend!& well narrated.
This is a good list, I'm going to definitely refer back to this if I'm ever going back to Las Vegas.

Oh that is a good point, I love Cracker Barrel and always forget about that one!
Holy moly! I haven’t driven to Vegas in awhile but Alien Jerky looks huge! I remember it being the mini mart it used to be ha ha ha
If you get off at Baker and take the 127 you can go to Shoshone and tecopa that have cool things to see
Thanks for posting about tio's tacos we went last Friday, went to several riverside locations
That's awesome, I hope you had fun exploring Riverside!

@@californiathroughmylens i think Del Taco and Route 66 is calling our names the most. Thanks again!
Love your video so much. Just curious, what are your tools to take smooth video on the dashboard?
Where Eddie,s World is used to be a restaurant called the International Cafe . Sad day when it closed .
For Elmer's bottle tree ranch I'm pretty sure it's still open. They still have a donation box and I know there were people inside the house in the back when I went in August.
Also you missed an abandoned water park just past Barstow
The abandoned waterpark has now been closed off with chain link fence.

This video was so good I had to watch it twice. I now have new places to check out on my next trip to Las Vegas.
P.S.- I love Seven Magic Mountains
I didn't know it had all this interesting stuff to visit. Thank You ✌️.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cool video - I go to Vegas a fair amount and need to explore more of these stops. Love your perspective and creative eye!
Thank you for posting this video! I will do the route in reverse in December, and I'm already looking forward to try the carrot cake and taco.
I hope you like it!
I’m vacationing from Hong Kong, thank you for supporting the 64 exhibition AGAINST CCP China 🇨🇳👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
No problem, it was really interesting to see on the side of the highway!
Excellent video, and many I wasn't aware of. Thank you!
What about Afton Canyon? Probably too far off the highway to include...
Great suggestion! I have never been there, will have to check it out next time!

Bonnie and Clyde car on loan to the Reagan Library 🤔
haha depends on what you are looking for I guess
Elmers Bottle Tree Ranch was open today 14th April 2024
I'll probably never make that drive, as I fly in, bit it's still interesting stuff 🤔
That is a good way to do it as well
Isn’t the Joshua Tree park or forest on the way to Vegas or is it on the other side, towards the Grand Canyon??
I've been at Eddie World last Summer
