Yeah! He is an absolute incredible figure forsure!..wish they released a less Premium ver. Without all the accessories and the voice gimmicks for like $200.00. $450.00 is just too steep for me, especially for one figure. As always great review Ben. ❤⭐
I had to get the evil version of Optimus Nemesis Prime because the 449.99 price tag is to steep for me to. The Nemesis Prime Mp 49 cost 249.99.

He is lovely, but he's just outside of my price range. My MP-10 replacement was TE-01.
If they'd offered just the truck for a similar price to TE-01 I might have made a different decision, but as it sits there's just no way I can justify THAT MUCH for one figure.
Gotta say this price is more logical for HasLab Unicron than MP44 Optimus ( heck, gotta say it should had been between the same price as MP Megatron at least : / )
Honestly it is a cash grab by Takara, they set the price because they know people will pay it. Notice the hands are exact clones of Masterpiece Megatron.
I really like this MP-44 for me its perfect, but its expensive.
Transform element optimus prime robot mode looks exactly like this (minus the huge backpack which is a plus) and it’s under $200. They somehow made a better map-44
I have MP-44 sitting on my desk, unopened. Maybe one day I'll get around to opening it and messing with it. TE-01 and its repaints are more fun right now.

Its funny that all of the anti mp 44 comments are because of price, no comments of if the figure actually is worth it, I have them all,TE, MS, MP10, MP44, and mp 44 by far is the perfect example of optimus. If you have the money, get it, but if you can't afford it, don't try to lessen what it is because it's out of your budget, worth every penny.
I can see why. But for me it doesn't look like it feels $450 and that comes with the style of it. The cartoon was made to be cheaply made. So when this toy wants to mimic that it doesn't look like it's price. But I don't feel like this works at 100%. It's nitpicky but at the price we need to be nitpicky. Specifically the paint issues, knees, and chest. While this may factually be the best it doesn't quite sync upwith my own tastes. I am personally saving up for the 3A prime and the flametoys one
So you want people to not factor in price when it comes to critiquing a figure? I think price is an extremely important factor if not one of the most important factors. Also, if you have not read that many comments or your just blindly by your purchase if you think the price is the only thing people have issues with. Small arms, panel tastic, unstable, huge backpack, knee issues, ugly vehicle mode. Who you trying to fool

I personally am not going to berate anyone who wants to buy it/ bought it as it is not that serious. And I am not sure if things like small arms or ugly truck mode can be full on critiques. As this wants to be the g1 model. And that is how it looked. Some off proportions and not the usual truck we have seen. Not bad but different
I love you Ben but please don't push this stuff. Based on the price point you have made an unsponsored sponsored video. You are helping Hasbro/Takara to sell this figure and their current conduct is mercenary in the extreme. You are in the unique position of being the voice of an entire demographic on this platform. Please use that position for the good of the community.
I realized this post came off as criticizing Ben which is not my intention. I want you to make all the videos that you can and get all of the clicks because I love your content. My ire is firmly targeted at Hasbro/Takara for their lovely and insanely overpriced plastic.

I agree for the animation look I would have preferred for the truck mode the boxy squared headlights

The meaning of the phrase though is that "people with no other options must be content with what is offered." Which is false still because if you can afford MP-44 then you have other options.
Shiny Shuckle agreed BUT fans demanded an animation accurate prime and to achieve this sacrifices had to be made in other areas

The trailer is too tall in comparison to the cab, compare to what I see on the road in reality. I do like the fact that the trailer looks just like the cartoon, finally!
I was pretty anti-mp44 at the beginning but now that the reviews are coming out I have warmed up quite a bit to the figure.
If they do a toy version with darker colours and yellow eyes then I will probably get him.

I'll probably buy this at some point even though i'm more than happy with my TE01. But imagine the Black Apple oversized version for less than $200... hope they severely reduce that ridiculous Deuter mountaineering backpack though
I can already see why the knees are such an issue. I'm not impressed by the engineering on this, I don't know why so many people are. The vehicle mode gets almost completely hidden away bar a couple of pieces for the robot mode. At that point, you have to wonder - Is it worth him transforming in the first place? Feels too... Bayverse-y. I also feel like the price is a little too high. You're paying around half the price of Unicron for a figure that's nowhere near half the height, probably even with the accessories on top of it somehow. Said accessories are unnecessary, especially the 1 episode only accessory of the Starscream head. If they wanted that to be a feature, they should've included it on the likely MP 3.0 Seeker mold. I feel like it's too animation accurate even by present official MP standards in vehicle mode, but in a way that doesn't work. Mastermind Creations' Ocular Max figures and the Magic Square Optimus do that better. Robot mode looks... Bad. I'm sorry, but I feel as though Magic Square and Transform Element do it better. And is it me, or does MP-44 look shorter than TE-01? TE-01 has a lovely shelf presence from what I can see (I went for MS-01 over MP-10 and TE-01, I only started collecting around a year ago.) Whereas MP-44 seems... short. And remarkably skinnier. I don't know about you guys, but I always preferred the more clunky legs of MP-10 in terms of aesthetic. Masterpiece has always tried to blend reality and cartoon accuracy, and this figure... Does not live up to that. Quite frankly, I'm shocked it even hit the shelves. They've postponed MP-45 Bumblebee 2.0, I wonder why. Might have something to do with the poor quality of this figure, or the way the pictures implied that he had an interior for your Spike figure (He doesn't, unlike MMC Ocular Max Hellion, their Cliffjumper.) I, admittedly, like Roller and the trailer. If they were to be sold separately and Magic Square released a, 'compatibility kit' for MS-01, I'd likely purchase it. I do not like the minifigs of Sparkplug, Spike and Carly. They seem cheap. Incredibly cheap. Even the older figures look better.

Ilhan Tele no , I’ve had no issues with it , don’t really understand the ab crunch / waste joint though .. double knees are easy as long as you push the knee guard up and down
Damn, he looks really good... A tidbit over engineered maybe, but certainly not bad. The price is obviously the biggest issue. TE-01 might be the better option overall in that regard as you said.
Yeah, because if you didn't know any better and needed to, TE-01 could be an alternative to MP-44!
Well is good MP but the price is to high! And i pay 225 dollars for MP 10 ,300-400 is way overpriced figures!
And MP-10 is just as good, you can argue for either being better. Honestly there is very little special about this MP-44 considering the price tag. Dated MP Megatron hands, no translucent plastic on crotch and obvious details left unpainted, that even MP-10 KOs have painted.
$450 for that? No thanks and easy pass. MP-10 was far better! But as always Ben great video.

I still can't figure out why people love this thing so much. I bought two, opened one , messed with it for 20 minutes, then boxed it back up and sold both of them.

I don't understand how Takara can make good Diaclone figures but the human figures for transformers are so weird looking.
The flatbed on a real big truck also looks pretty bad and jumbled, with gaps you can see to the ground.
Transform element and magic square solve out how to design and produce a good; affordable, and the best masterpiece optimus prime - takara loose i hate that mp44, its so expensive and complicated to transform , and that huge backpack is monstrous, awful mp 44
Cant in anyway justify the pricetag. Pass....some things are better but I'll stick with MP10
The more I see this, the more I am interested in getting this figure. Not for that price though.
MP-44 Looks amazing, but for the price, it really does not seem worth it. There are little details that should have been painted like the windshield wipers in car mode, also I noticed the hands are completely clones of Masterpiece Megatron (which are also not good hands). Another thing the yellow pieces on his crotch are just painted, no longer translucent plastic, another major cutting corning. One thing Takara fails at his hand articulation. For so much money I really hope their profits go towards research, and not luxury SUVs for the CEOs. I wonder what the cost was for making MP-44, they must be making huge huge profit off this.

I'll stick with my mp10 for the price of the mp44. I admit it looks good but the price and knee issue turned me off and I think I'll either wait for the ko or get the TE version. Money is tight for me these days so I'll get what fits my budget
How did you get that Decepticon symbol on to IT-01's battle-damaged chest? I imagine it to be a lot of trouble.
This toy is impressive. And I would never put anyone down for loving it, but its almost like it was made in a vacuum. Like if there had never been ANY other transformers toys and someone tried to make the best possible Optimus prime toy based on the cartoon and 86 movie using today's engineering. Only problem is there have been many many other prime toys So alot of this toy either seems unnecessary or sloppy, like if there was never any other cleaner primes in truck mode that truck mode wouldn't look that bad, but even if you dont count TE-01's truck mode the studio series movie prime is better. And unfortunately we as consumers have seen it. This toy kind of just had bad timing. Still it's nice and an impressive figure

Still think the fun of the transformation is very minimal and prom to break very easily if not handled in a specific way ( mostly about the legs and the knees which has been broken by many from what I seen )

@@edsaloru1 no,idont mean that i meant i paid £330 and it was worth the £330.for example i bought fans toys Willis for £69 orXTB stunticons for around £50 each now i feel those examples were worth more than i paid for them so they were good value,where as prime was worth exactly what i paid - if he was cheaper he would also had been good value but as it stands he was worth the cost but no more

If you wanted to get this figure get transform element 01. It looks exactly like mp-44 except the transformation isn’t as complicated, and it under $200

I would like to see an MP-44+ G1 Optimus Prime where his paint scheme is accurate to the '80's G1 Optimus Prime figure. I would also like to see the exact same mold to be redecoed into G1 toy Ultra Magnus (AKA White Optimus Prime), Nemesis Prime and Ghostbusters Optimus Prime.

The did make a Mp 44 Nemesis Prime the MP 49 black Convoy. He comes without the trailer and not nearly as many accessories.

No way lol this is top top end for me at $350 ... people pay that for fanstoys figures now like the g2 dinos and no one blinks an eyelid and they are not even licensed

What?!!! There isn't a single FT that was sold at something even close to 365USD at retail price, you can't compare a retail price with an aftermarket price!!!! The closer Fans Toys ever got to that price point was with FT-20 and that is an Omega Supreme that scales perfectly in bot mode with MP-44 so it's gigantic. FT-31A Roadking (Motormaster) was sold for 126.99USD and that is a transforming figure comparable to MP-44, it has less accessories but what it lacks in accessories it compensates in engineering since it includes the trailer into the bot transformation and will eventually combine with the rest of the Stunticons to form Menasor. If Fans Toys came out with a Optimus Prime version of their own at the same time Takara released theirs it would have cost something around 150USD and it's my believe it would have been as least as good.
P.S. The Fans Toys prices have been recently raised but even so the most expensive figure they have is FT-44 Thomas (Astrotrain) a triple changer and it's being sold for 215USD with international shipping included so it should be something like 175USD.
@@brenoferreiraferreira4409 There figures are becoming inline with Takara. There mini bots 100.00 well new minibots. There trailbraker is 150.00 both blitzwing and astrotrain over 200.00 . Dinobots 200.00 was the average cost before the aftermarket. Been doing this for a while my friend... you will pay it because you want it. I have better options and none of them are worth over 100.00 IMO.

I watch YOUR reviews to determine if a toy is worth buying. Saying you don't have batteries for example, I should look at other reviews defeats the point. I love YOUR reviews. I don't want to watch others. And I've put different batteries in things before that weren't exactly the right one - but the battery voltage was OK, so it WORKED. Anyway, you pay over FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS for a toy, and they can't include fifty cents worth of batteries? Talk about disrespecting your collector fans.
I do not want to watch other people's reviews. I want to watch YOURS and that's why I was saying I wanted it to be complete. I don't even care for batteries. I just felt the review was missing that part. Anyway, it doesn't matter.
I thumbs down, because this toy is still substandard. I would not buy it at half the price, as I feel it's Takara and Hasbro disrespecting fans and giving out poor toys.
Again, I only buy toys if YOU say they're OK. I thumbed down because on this occasion I disagreed.

they ruined what could have been an amazing figure with having so many little panels all over the place, with all the panel lines it looks like it was frozen and then it cracked with the broken lines all over the place. I hold no ill will to those that love this figure but to me it is just an ugly broken up mess of panels and lines.
As with Bumblebee, there's so much I legitimately love, and so much I legitimately hate in equal measure.
The transformation isn't so much complicated as it feels unnecessary (THE LEGS HAVE NO BUSINESS NEEDING TO BE SO OVERDONE. IT'S PRIME'S LEGS), and some of the sculpt as me questioning the logic (his chest is extremely flat, which contributed to the backpack being so ludicrous. There's also the braindead idea of sculpting what looks like house siding onto the truck mode which makes the panels look worse than they are).
The knees are awful. I didn't think there would be a worse option than MS or TR but Takara hit it out of the park. Yech.
The finish of the figure is also hideously cheap looking. The gloss looks oily as hell and makes the paneltastoc nature more apparent.
And yet, this is sculpturally a perfect Prime (outside of the backpack and chest, which is wrong only in depth IMO). Dunno why they included that disgusting season 1 head (which isn't even right, the actual pilot model is even worse yet this still wasn't right).
