Every other review I've seen has commented on how the backpack looks like it is supposed to collapse more at the thruster area, but nobody except you has actually been able to fully collapse the backpack. I have one on preorder and seeing that the backpack does fully collapse has made me so much more excited for this figure!
Finally picked this up, shipping soon for 200. . . As a decepticon only collector, Im ecstatic! Lots of decent sales now, so Im pulling the trigger on galvatron and thomas repaints for solid deals, so glad I waited. . After being a TF collector for a while now Im finally making up for some of my bad purchases in the early game. THANKS Sonny for guiding me along the way, you are always my number one go to guy for reviews and transformations. PEACE!
Can't wait to get him soon. Been waiting since June of last year. I agree, I'll be displaying him with the mask and his split backpack. Very Macross-like. My Seige will be in alt mode which I believe is superior. Not perfect (the landing gear, drooping wings, derpy faces etc.) but he's definitely cartoon accurate and those mini figures are really cool.

Yeah, its nice! But am not gonna lie after seeing what Newage and Magic Square have done. This definitely is a little disappointing. Especially no waist swivel or Abcrunch? Takara pride themselves on Articulation. We still don't have a Definitive Jetfire imo. As always great video Tmr.
I think this design is something they have been kicking around Takara for a while and decided to run with it since they didnt have anything else ready for production to keep competitive with 3rd party. I mean the gaps in Jet mode, Derpy face, and lack or articulation. Heck the Siege one has more life then this guy and better articulation. Look at newer TT releases where they have better sculpts and articulation. I still have this guy on order and have Phoenix already, but could have been better. A lot better.

Finally a Masterpiece Skyfire!! I am glad that Takara actually made a Skyfire, not Jetfire.... they probably figured out that the people who wants an MP JETfire aren't aware that they actually just want a Macros toy.
And I'm sure Bandai would be suing their asses too. 😆It's too bad Takara and Bandai couldn't agree to have Bandai use the DX Chogokin VF-1S to make a Jetfire for Takara.
I think it's an easy choice if you don't have either, just cause the after Market Prices on Pheonix are just astronomical and you'll most likely be getting a used product that has looser joints and connections. Where as if you go for the Takara one, you'll get a Brand new one at a surprisingly good price, that comes with way more features and accesories, and has better articulation (except for the ratchets in the leg hip joints, those did need just a few more teeth so could have an easier time getting a more natural A stance, even if Skyfire for the most part stood up straight) and intuitive fun Transformation. As for aesthethics of course that's subjective, but I do think people Bash on MP 57s aesthetics way too much. I did think he looked a bit doofy at first, but it really grew on me over time and you can't deny he looks like he jumped straight off the screen of the cartoon. People talk about how his chest doesn't look heroic enough, but I don't see that. It has a nice shape and still looks beefy and strong. Though one thing is I do like how Pheonix's face looks aesthetically more. Just looks more defined and less goofy. But what I will say is the faces on the Takara one are not only more accurate to the cartoon but are more accurate to his character as a humble scientist who rather not be used for war but will fight and protect if he has to. Even the Jet, while Pheonix does look nice and sleek and has less gaps, I don't really mind the gaps on MP57, and I also prefer the chunkier Jet mode and the smooth surfaces of MP57. There are a few shots where Skyfires jet looked a bit sleeker but from my memory at least there were more where it was om the chunkier side
I just rewatched the episode with skyfire and agree that MP-57 looks great. My main concern was whether he’d be “big enough” compared to Phoenix. I have gigapower dinobots and want skyfire to be bigger than them.
@@bryanmaietta MP57 feels just right for me that one shot of him standing next to Optimus, Ironhide, and Bumblebee the scale fits in. ... though I can't lie I also like his slightly smaller size cause man is space a premium in my collection
First here, first to like, first to say I don't care about this MP Skyfire but also first to say that this was a good review to watch. Just getting all the clichés out of the way. I also did not know Gregg Burger was Skyfire's voice actor.
Takara did Skyfire right. I'm glad theybgor over their old hang-up about the character and fully embraced it. So many playability features and accessories. Try some Keekee on those main landing gear struts.
Oddly enough I actually like the alt mode because the nose and cockpit area reminds me of the cartoon in a cool way. The bot mode looks a little too toon for me but this is imo the best MP figure overall takara has released in a while. I prefer phoniex’s more heroic mature aesthetic in bot mode. I would get both, already have phoenix, I like Takara’s accessories, jet mode, and playability with the added gimmicks.
@@TMReviews true but most folks highlight the bot mode and cite the gaps in the alt mode. I like the alt mode. More toy like than FT’s. With Fanstoys they feel more premium and Im hesitant to handle them lol
Face is too herpy derpy for my taste...Fans Toys did a better job with the face, imo. Alt mode has unappealing gaps in it. Robot mode is good. The mini figures are the most appealing thing to this. This is a good video. Thank you.
At 19:32, you can see an issue I'm having with the same foot on one of mine. I also have the same issue with my other copy but that one has it on the right foot. The heel doesn't open up fully by a couple of millimeters. It's a minor issue but I'm thinking this could be a problem over time in bot mode with the weight of the figure. So the inside of the heel is hitting the ankle pivot joint which keeps it from laying flat all the way.
Anyone else facing the fact Takara figures and Fanstoys don’t rly display well together? The super toon and premium on the same shelf bugs me. This has forced me to essentially have two collections. One composed of super toon accurate figures(mainly Takara, MMC, and Deformation Space). Then my other shelves with the premium look with mainly Fanstoys, Zeta, etc)
Great review as always! Does the left foot on your copy not extend completely flat? On mine, the right foot can straighten completely flat, but the left foot always has a slight bend, and if i extend it straigh it just thoups back to being slightly bent...? Love your reviews!

The heel has an inner plastic piece that needs to be folded forward, a lot of people leave it folded backwards with the diecast piece and that causes his heel to sit uneven
@@TMReviews i really appreciate your replies! It helped me find the issue, it's like the diecast piece isn't pushed in enough, so the heel doesn't have enough clearance to stay straight. It's nothing major and not worth me attempting to take the foot apart 😂. Thanks again! You're are a gentleman and a scholar!

I really do think it’s great that this option is available for people that like the way this looks. I absolutely love Skyfire and can’t stand the way this looks but I love that we have options. Personally I want a masterpiece G1 Jetfire so bad. Really great review as you showed things that I haven’t seen in any other review of this figure.
Thanks, I also felt this one looked doofy in photos, especially the face sculpt, but in hand it performs so well i overlooked that issue. Of course if you hate the look nothing will fix that,

@@BWiskey3 yeah the Kitzconcepts Valks use a weird scale. 1/72. I dont have any, but I have a bunch of Yamato/Arcadia 1/60's and Bandai DX 1/60 and 1/48s which are amazing. if KC did a 1/48 figure it would be amazing. The original Jetfire was the old chunky monkey 1/55 scale.

Certainly looks like a very good MP Skyfire. However, I don't feel like the difference is major enough to warrant it replacing my FT-10 Phoenix.

The goofyness is undeniable, but to me at least thats what makes the toon desings so charming

I don't understand the choice in colour for that stand.
Autobot base color is generically orange versus decepticons which are purple, but clear or light gray was the right choice in this case
Jazz's hands are like that to recreate that one scene where he was hanging off of Skyfire

Cool figure, the torso seems too short compared to the legs but that's probably a character design issue.
i like symmetry so i don’t like one hinge on the red leg armor being on the side closer knee and the other closer to the foot.

They are smaller than those, different aesthetic too, they don't really go together
