I would love to see Chernabog from Fantasia, Mad Madame Mim from Sword in the Stone, The Headless Horseman from Sleepy Hollow, and Shere Khan from The Jungle Book show up as expansion characters!
Madame Mim is in the new expansion… I think you already but I personally don’t find her gameplay that enjoyable Update: every Merlin you defeat you reveal a new one. So she place a vanquish action in each spot and combo with them. Now it’s kinda fun when you make it possible.
I would like to see Medusa from "the rescuers", she is just.... Evil! Using Penny just to find a diamond, risking her life... Just evil, and I would like to see her in a future expansion, maybe just as Jafar she needs to find Penny then use her to find the Devil's Eye
I agree @TerreDice Games, I’d love to see Judge Claude Frollo ‘Hunchback of Notre Dame’ too! But I’d also like to see Clayton from ‘Tarzan’ and probably Shan Yu from ‘Mulan’, because they are such cruel villains. They could name the next expansion: ‘Cruel as Sin’ or maybe call it ‘Dark and Cruel’. 😈 So many choices of Villains, so many future expansions! 😉

TerreDice Games, I think if they thought of Cruel characters for the next expansion - I definitely think of Judge Claude Frollo, Clayton and Shan Yu (Mulan) I think Governor John Radcliffe would be a for a future expansion based on Greed, his goal (similar to Prince John) would be collecting ‘gold’ as he is obsessed with it! With Gaston, I think his gameplay of getting rid of "Obstacles" involves getting rid of things that would come between him and marrying Belle, as most of the Fate cards that add Obstacles symbolize moments in the story that involve Belle either growing closer to Beast (i.e. "I've Never Seen So Many Books") or becoming more repulsed by Gaston (i.e. "Massaging My Feet"), and most of the Villain cards that remove Obstacles symbolize moments in the story in which Belle was more estranged from the Beast (i.e. "Temper" and "Get Out"). I also love that one of Gaston's Villain cards is "Five Dozen Eggs," and that it involves strengthening an ally. That's so funny and fitting!
Yes that’s true! It makes no sense why the wolves are allies when Gaston has never worked with them. And also why is belle a fate card though and can be defeated???? When Gaston wants to marry her
@@thestrangercreator4376 You have a point about the wolves; In fact, originally the wolves were going to kill Gaston in the movie! In the original script for the movie, Gaston survives the fall from the Beast's tower, but breaks his leg from it and the wolves then get him. Instead, they retooled that death a little and used it for Scar's death in 'The Lion King.' Although, it wouldn't be the first time that an Ally card in 'Villainous' was of someone that the villain never directly worked with: a) The Queen of Hearts has Tweedle- Dee and Tweedle- Dum as Allies even though she had no interaction at all with them. b) Hades has Nessus as an Ally even though they never technically worked together or interacted with each other. Though Hades did have an interest in possibly recruiting Nessus for his rebellion against Zeus, it hadn't come to pass yet when Hercules faced and defeated him. c) Mother Gothel has several royal guards as Allies even though she never worked with any of them.

And also some hero’s make absolutely no sense to be in the fate deck. a) As mentioned belle in this fate deck. b) Toby in prince John’s fate deck. c) Eudora (tianas mother) in Dr facilier fatecdeck. d) Grimsby and max in Ursula fate deck. The reason being is these hero’s never interact or cause too much harm to the villian. Not only that but some allies have too much or too little strength, For example Prince John’s rhino guards have 4 Strength. While Robin Hood and little John both have 5. And in the movie They dismantled them with ease. As well as Felicia in ratigans deck has a ridiculous 6 strength, she barely does anything to the hero’s In the movie. I guess that do this to balance out the villians more but it’s still kinda wack
I agree about Claude Frollo from Hunchback. That would be great to see! For a long time now I’ve been hoping for The Coachman from Pinocchio with Stromboli, Honest John, and Gideon as allies. Monstro might be better suited for a location. The goal could be turning a certain number of boys into donkeys and shipping them away. A little bit like Cruella’s goal with the puppy tokens. A couple of obscure villains that I didn’t see mentioned already in the comments are Commander Rourke from Atlantis and John Silver from Treasure Planet. Either one would be fun to see added to a set with two more famous villains.

So many good heroes to add to the fate deck - and also that movie has so many bad guys that guided Pinocchio on his journey would be neat to see them all and how they worked together, 100% agree with John Silver from Treasure Planet! Had never thought of him before! Such an underrated movie. His goal is already so perfectly laid out but then again it's different from the others. Is he one of the first bad guys that turns "good" in the end? I would love to see how they would play that into the game. Would be interesting. Maybe if you grow too fond of Jim do you lose? I watched Atlantis again the other night and man is that movie underrated. All of the characters in that movie are so memorable and different. I hope that do an Atlantis expansion cause I think Disney needs to do more with that movie! Other characters would be great too! Thanks for watching!
Oh, and btw, regarding what Disney villains I'd like to see in future editions of the game, one is a villain who I wasn't fond of but must concede would fit in well in the game: Shan- Yu from 'Mulan.' He could have LOADS of Villain cards to help him (i.e. The Falcon, his entire freaking army, maybe ones called "Burn the Village" and "Dragon Disguise," etc.), and Fate cards to hinder him (i.e. Mulan, the Emperor, Mushu, "Avalanche," "Fireworks," etc.). It also wouldn't be hard to come up with a win condition for him, like kill the Emperor or something.
Can’t begin to tell you how much I love the intro! So sad to hear playing Gaston doesn’t feel true to his story. One of my favourites is Mother Gothel for its continuous battle of keeping Rapunzel away from Corona. I think the Disney Princess franchise is so big that they have to include their villains: Ratcliffe, Shan Yu & Hans but personally I would love Clayton, Madame Mim & Gantu. Clayton would be putting Gorillas into cages, Madame Mim would be competing in a wizard duel & Gantu would have to capture Experiment 626 💖💖

I would love love love to see Frollo just as you guys said but also Shere Khan and Shan Yu, however, if we're including any animated Disney villains then 110% Bill Cipher instead of Shan Yu but if not then Shan Yu is cool!

I'd love a Pixar expansion! Maybe it could be called "Lights Out" I'd love to see Syndrome, Lotso Huggingbear, and Charles Muntz. Syndrome's objective could be vanquishing Mr. Incredible Lotso's could be locking up or turning all of the toys Charles's could be capturing Kevin and bringing her back to his ship

I think there are some more "obscure" villains that have great potential for this game, given the mechanics. Madame Medusa (the rescuers) has a very clear objective: she wants to get her hands on the huge diamond (objective item), and to make it happen, she kidnapped a little girl (hero/ally) in order to force her into the small cave (location) where the diamon is! her four locations immediately come to mind: pawn shop, airport, devil's bayou and the pirate's cave! Edgar the butler (the aristocats) has great potential too: he could need to get rid of all the cats, or maybe to retrieve his umbrella and hat (or both!)

@@jasons7844 there's so many ways to do this carachter because of who he is and because of its nature (not from a storytelling tale but a music tale) so i see two different route. One of hem would be to awakening all the evil in the land (like a curse placing thing like maleficent) and its ennemies would be the popular heros from fantasia. Or it could be destroying all the music in the realm all together by bringing a new mechanic. Still would be aggainst popular heroes from fantasia. But it such a magic character and i don't think theres a wrong way of doing this one.

I don’t know whether anyone has thought about Si and Am from ‘Lady & the Tramp’ as a Disney villain yet, but it would definitely be an unknown one in some future expansion, I don’t know, maybe it’s wishful thinking. Their objective is to get Lady into trouble by getting the muzzle put on her and sending her to pound. Heroes in the Fate Deck would be Tramp,Jock,Trusty,Peg and many other characters in ‘Lady and the Tramp’. The only Ally in the deck is Aunt Sara, but most of the trouble making cards are effects/items or conditions. Their mover would be the two cats side by side and the colour would be light blue, like the colour of their eyes.
Wow, what a fantastic and unique idea! Hadn’t heard this one before but I think it would work magnificently well! I really like your ideas. Especially trying to get her in trouble by breaking things and causing trouble. Love it!

The ‘trouble making’ card ideas were the ripped curtains, vase spilt over the piano, a painting stand knocked over with Lady in the cloth, the bird cage with a bird flapping about and the fish in the bowl swimming round and round. Also I loved the collaboration video you both did in discussing ideas for the expansions, especially when it came to Frollo. I think like the villain ‘Ratigan’, he has a dual objective. One: Prevent Quasimodo from going ‘Out there’ (ie Feast of Fools in the town square, helping Esmeralda escape from ‘sanctuary’) and capture him, if Esmeralda and Phoebus are there too, all the better! Two: Vanish Esmeralda and Quasimodo at the top of Notre Dame, just like he tried to do in the movie. I love the ‘sanctuary’ ideas when it came to Frollo - maybe when it comes to sanctuary, you put a 🔔 token on the hero. I think there should also be a condition card called ‘Choose me or the 🔥’ in which when you are fated, if Esmeralda is already in your realm, you can decide to give her ‘sanctuary’ in the Bell Tower or at the top of Notre Dame to Vanquish her. As Frollo says to Esmeralda inside Notre Dame: ‘You’ve chosen a magnificent prison, but it is a prison nonetheless. Step one foot outside, and you’re mine!
Great review as always! If u search around BGG, there's alot of voices talking about typos and ambiguity in the preview, are they fixed from what you see? Or are they not issues in your opinion?
You know what I didn’t notice any typos but some of the cards seemed very ambiguous. For instance the cauldron born cards show a cost of 0 and nowhere on the cauldron born or ancient soldiers do they saw you swap one for the other. It looks like the cauldron born can be played for free. So definitely some ambiguity on some of the cards like that. Overall not a major issue because the individual villain rulebooks are good :) also, thanks for the kind words!!
Ohhh both colors I think would be nice. I think a beige would look good with the colors that they already have, dark green would have to be a different shade than "The worst takes it all" but would be nice for oogie bogie. Thanks for watching!
I'd like to see Barbossa from pirates of the Caribbean. His goal would be to vanquish will in the treasure room with the medallion in his possession in the treasure room. I think that would be a pretty coal board Shan Yu from Mulan would be good. His goal would probably be to force the emperor to bow to him through some means. And though it wasn't a movie but rather a TV series, throw in Fatcat from the rescue rangers
@@TerreDiceGames my work gives me a lot of time to think so I thought about this idea for Shan Yu. His goal is to be alone (no heroes) in the imperial capital protected by a lock token. In order to unlock it, he needs to defeat three camps basically all heroes, at the locations the Great Wall, Village and mountains which would be protected in order by the wall guards, Shang's dad (forgot his name) and Shang. Once that is done, the imperial Palace unlocks and the emperor appears. Vanquish the emperor and all the heroes who come to defend him and hold it for a turn. What do you think?
There are some really good ideas in there! I like the idea of the wall guards. It would be very interesting to see all but one location locked. How would he move/choose different actions each turn? Something to think about :)
Had just bought the target exclusive version, best way I found to take off the sleeve w/o ripping it is to simply blow down into the sides of the sleeve and let gravity pull the box, a little patience this takes around 5 minutes
Y’all are going on about so many different characters, but I want them to do a whole special expansion based on Disney channel shows called “channeling power” featuring doofenshmirtz, mágica de spell or flint heart glamgold from the reboot, and bill cipher from gravity falls

I really enjoy this expansion for lady tremaine I felt it's interesting that you can't play other card to the ballroom besides the ball gown step sister and cinderella and the prince
I always saw the obstacles as obstacles standing in the way of Gaston getting married to Belle. That's why Mosieur D'arque gets rid of obstacles, as in the movie, when Gaston attempts to blackmail Belle by committing her father to D'arque's asylum. Or Get Out removing 3 obstacles, because that was the moment when Belle was ready to quit on the Beast and go back home. Vanquishing Belle does make little sense, though, granted.
Nobody has said Shere Kahn yet! That would be a really cool one to see. I wonder who his allies would be? And I personally would love to see McLeach or Madame Medusa join the gain. Both are great movies that disney doesn't do a whole lot with. Thanks for watching!
My top three picks for the next expansion would be Frollo, King Candy and Honest John. So much potential with Frollo's board given that he likely would have to vanquish Esmerelda and the crowd at the Court of Miracles (which would be locked to start the game), but then you could also make Notre Dame cathedral a sanctuary location for the heroes. So you could have a board where Frollo has to move both allies and heroes to truly position everything you need to vanquish.
wow! I'm so surprised they haven't done Ogie Boogie yet! That would be fun! Auto from Wall-E would be so interesting - I could see it as trying to keep all of the hero's under your control and giving them comforts. Would be neat! Thanks for watching!
I hope they incorporate Pixar into this eventually as well. Syndrome would have to be the first Pixar villain though. Having the Omnidroids and Mirage be his allies and the fate deck be full of the supers, it would be so filled with opportunities for good theme.
An interesting character for villainous would be Governor Ratcliffe from Pocahontas. His objective could be something along the lines of "wipe out the tribe" where you would have to start off by building fortifications at each location and then amass a certain amount of allies. Some fate cards could be along the lines of a peace treaty, starvation, ambush, and defecting where your allies and workers get removed from the board and one of your primary allies John Smith gets converted into a hero. One people might not think about is using the Auto-Pilot from Wall-E (Pixar I know, but they're owned by Disney now). Not sure fully how the kit would work but I think it could be an interesting one. Something else I know I would personally love, but would sit in legal limbo would be a studio ghibli themed expansion or even primary set. There are so many stories that could fit in interesting ways! Spirited away and Yubaba where you attempt to enslave Haku/Chihiro, your allies could be the other workers, the spirits, and magic spells while the fate deck could be the obvious heros of the film with No Face being a huge force that could wipe out part of plan. Princess Mononoke and Jigo, with the objective being to capture the forest spirits head and then escape. It could be a 2 part objective or work similarly to The Horned King's where once you have the head things start to turn against you. Howl's Moving Castle would work as well. While Ghibli films obviously aren't owned by Disney, Disney did do all the localization and publishing in the states.

I had been thinking about him too, though I had gone with that his objective would be to obtain the most gold while controlling all the lands in the name of James Town. Love hearing different takes. Auto would be a neat one and so would the Ghibli films if Disney could swing it, i didn't know Disney handled the localization and publishing in the states! I would love to see the card art if they do.

Definitely mentioned issues with vague descriptions (Horned King cauldron born... don’t say they can be played) - some of the other typos we heard about after filming this review :) most of it is harmless though we agree the grammatical errors are silly. Seems there is one impactful change, Maurices invention might not be an item that fights on its own, but an attachable with no strength.
@@TerreDiceGames the wording on Lucifer too is completely vague and does not really explain how he traps every hero at his location, even when a hero is placed there after Lucifer is already there or heroes at his new location if he gets moved. What makes me sad is that Ravensburger had never been this careless with the other expansions (I think the base set had to have some cards reworded to clarify some rules, but it didn’t have typos as far as I can tell.) This carelessness with trying to publish this expansion without significant play testing or proof reading the cards rubs me the wrong way.
@@brunoareastoledo I was looking into it more and found out that this was the first expansion not done by Prospero Hall (the original designers hired by Ravensburger) Instead this was done by an in-house designer from Ravensburger. Might explain some of the missteps with this expansion and the rewording.
@@TerreDiceGames absolutely. They just need to get Prosperous Hall back on board. The new people are too blatantly careless. A mistake this egregious (so many typos, I mean, so many doggone typos) would get anyone fired from a company.
We were really disappointed with Gaston too! We thought that they should have done something similar to The Great Mouse Detective villain where he changes objectives at a point in the game. Gaston’s initial objective could be to woo Belle, but it can then change to kill the beast if pursuing Belle falls through.

Horned King is horrible, in my experience. If the Cauldron gets flipped you lose a Cauldron Born no matter what, requiring you to find another ancient soldier AND Cauldron Born from your deck. Also if Fflewddur Fflam gets drawn, and you have 2 or 3 Cauldron Born on the field, he can reset you to be like 8 turns away from winning since you can't move allies across the board quickly. If you try to play it safe by amassing Ancient Soldiers on the field, your hand gets littered with Cauldron Born you can't do anything with for the entirety of the game. I just can't find a good way to win as him. My GF feels the same way. He is fun though, he can fate basically every turn and not really be all that held back by it.
I just found out about this expansion and as someone who grew up with The Black Cauldron, I was very excited to see the Horned King, who is one of my favorite Disney villains, in the game! As for who I would like to see in the next expansion (please make it happen because I have been hoping for these guys for a LONG time), I would love Frollo as well and I feel like his objective would be to capture esmerelda or keep Quasimodo in Notre Dame and the other villain I would love to see is Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas who I think would be a gambling type of mechanic similar to Queen of Hearts just a bit harder. And if I were to choose one more, Medusa from The Rescuers! I like that they bring lesser known villains into the game so that's why I pick her ^_^

I would love to see the MCP from tron. I have always loved those movies. His main gimmick would be assimilating rogue programs and defeating users. The main end goal would be beating Flynn and tron. I think it could work.
There's a bunch that absolutely should be added, but we're getting to lesser known villains now. Still, they did add some B tier villains already, like The Horned King, Pete, the Queen of Hearts, and Prince John. Frollo is an iconic, fantastic villain, but it would feel really weird having him in the game. Since he's the most real out of all the villains. He's a real type of person that really did/would exist. A darkness inside all of humanity. He's consumed with lust and when this woman runs away from him he commits genocide against her race. It's far, far too real. The appeal in the game is the moustache twirling nature of these fantasy villains who are comedically over the top at times. Frollo is too real. The ones that absolutely should be added, though, are: Oogie Boogie, Clayton, Shere Khan, Long John Silver, Chernabog, and Shan Yu. Ones that I personally would like to see that are more long shots are: Alameda Slim, Queen Narissa, and Jumba Jookiba. I think Alameda Slim would be super fun, having to capture a bunch of cows himself by yodeling. And Jumba would be fun, having to create Stich and then make Stich evil and invade other planets. And then Lilo can come in and make him good. Kind of like Kronk for Yzma. I like the idea of Narissa, she can turn from cartoon to real person and have different abilities in each form. They could also do a big Pixar expansion like Marvel, but make it compatible. If they can get the rights to Pixar movies. Pixar doesn't have as iconic villains as mainline Disney movies, though. Indeed, a lot of Pixar movies don't really have villains in the traditional sense. For that, I'm thinking: Randall from Monsters Inc, Syndrome from The Incredibles, AUTO from Wall-E, Ernesto de la Cruz from Coco, Lotso from Toy Story 3, and perhaps Hopper from A Bug's Life. They could also do a Star Wars expansion like Marvel. For that you definitely want the traditional villains: Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Count Dooku, Darth Maul. But also definitely Grand Admiral Thrawn, because he's awesome. And he's in Disney canon with Star Wars: Rebels. Perhaps also Jabba the Hut, for a fun bounty hunter related side character.
Been hearing a lot of votes for Kingdom Hearts as well! Have you played the Talisman Kingdom Hearts board game? I haven’t heard too much about it but I know The Op put out a KH board game.
Did they actually say Gaston is an easy character to play? Gaston is the hardest character to play out of the entire series,I mean just about every card in his fate deck allows you to put one or more objectives back on him so you could be down to only having to remove two objectives and then suddenly someone fates you and they could draw the fate card that allows them to put one objective back on each location and now you're almost back at square one..to me the easiest character was the horned king,all he has to do is exchange those skeleton cards for the other cauldron cards at each location and he wins the game and he really has no fate cards that will stop him from achieving his goal besides Gurgi and even then all you have to do on your next turn is jump to an activate spot and then reactivate the black cauldron card and he has no fate cards that allow you to remove an ally from his realm so basically if played right you could win the game with the horned king in maybe 6 rounds
Hey thanks for your comment! Yes, in the rulebook is said that Gaston is recommended for new players and Lady Tremaine is recommended for experienced players. I would say this is because while Gaston might not be as easy to win with because he so easily can end up back at square one (which is one of the things I point out is very frustrating with him) his objective however is very straight forward. So for a new player that is also new too gaming in general - his concept is easy to understand and you only have to focus on removing tokens. You make a good point that Horned King is only one of the easier ones to grasp and work with as well! Thanks for watching!
@@TerreDiceGames Zurg just isn't the strongest villain in the Toy Story franchise. He's a tiny piece of the actual movies and if they went for Pixar, they're way more likely to pick either Sid, Al from Al's Toy Barn, Stinky Pete, or my top pick: Lotso. Not Gabby Gabby because she ultimately becomes good.
@@TerreDiceGames His objective to win would definitely be to vanquish Mowgli. I think the fate deck would be easy enough, it would include the obvious Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, Akela, Rama and the others in the wolf pack too, and maybe even the vultures because they help Mowgli in the battle at the end, and maybe Colonel Hathi. I think I would have Kaa, and King Louie in his villain deck as allies, as well as the pack of monkeys too. I would make the effect cards have the titles of his iconic quotes like, "it's me, Shere Khan" and "I'll count to ten". And in the fate deck I would include cards that make Shere Khan either lose power or discard an ally from his realm. I think the fate cards would be hard on him, and put him back to square one. The location would have to include the dead forest, the ancient runes (where king Louie lives), and I'm not sure about the others yet. But I really would love to see him in the next box (if there is one). Fingers crossed!!
And especially because the jungle book isn't as "big" as other Disney stories like the Lion king, Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast, they haven't used the jungle book for a lot of things. Which is so sad because it is one of my favourites!
I am someone who likes simple things. The game of villainous is one of these things. However I have not yet deemed the game as one of the best yet. So far each expansion has been making the game more unique, but for me personally it is still missing my favorite disney villain, the God of all evil from fantasia: chernabog. While I also desire frollo from hunchback as well, chernabog is well warranted for this game and I desperately want him to be a part of it.
Chernabog just wouldn't fit very well within the context of the game. He has no story because essentially he's just a part of an animated music video. So we don't know his goals, or desires. Also, there's no heroes for him. So his fate deck would be impossible to make unless you just make up characters. Cool looking character, but not for Villainous.
@@MoBorbon he doesn't need a story to fit in the game as he is evil incarnate. As far as goals and desires he is the Devil Himself so the possibilities can range from spreading his minions, darkness or influence throughout his realm like maleficent or defeating heroes like scar. He does have potential.
I have thought about this a lot: firstly a blue box ( cause than you have all the rainbow / infinity stone colors ) on the cover also prins Hans with the title “Cold Hearted”. The expansion should also include Claud Frollo and the third character should either be the lady from the rescuers or the queen from enchanted. I also want a pink box with king candy, madam min and the guy from Pocahontas title could be: Bitter Sweet. Lastly a green glow in the dark bord with oogje boogie, the demon from a night on bould mountain and shed khan from mulan maybe. Possible title: The shadows of the night

@Lowie Somers, I agree with you on a blue cover (maybe a light blue similar to the Frozen cover background with icy corners) and the Title ‘Cold Hearted’. Although I personally think that Frollo deserves his own expansion as he is too ruthless to be ‘cold hearted’. However I do think Prince Hans should be the main one for ‘Cold Hearted’ expansion, but I think the two other characters that should be included are: Governor John Radcliffe (Pocahontas) and Madame Medusa from (The Rescuers). I still think ‘Dark and Cruel’ would be a brilliant name for another expansion because Quasimodo says to Frollo in the film: ‘All my life you’ve told me the world was a dark and cruel place, but now I see the only thing that is dark and cruel are people like you’. The ‘Dark and Cruel’ expansion should have a grey stone background with coloured embossed flames (reminiscent of the song ‘Hellfire’) along with the titles and silhouette of Frollo, the mover being Frollo (a different shade of purple with glitter, and an embossed scarf Esmeralda gave to him), Shan Yu (eggplant green mover to match his outfit) and Clayton (a darker red mover to match the ascot he wears) . There could be a target exclusive version with a Festival of Fools Slip cover and an exclusive Silver Frollo mover!
@@Bethisdefyinggravity The only thing about what you said is that so far the pattern has always been Man, Man, Woman for every expansion so I think they'd keep that trend. But all other ideas are great!
@ Mauricio Borbon , While I 100% wholeheartedly agree with you that they will definitely keep a Man, Woman, Man pieces for the expansions as a recurring trend☺️, let’s not forget that the expansions have a character on the front cover and a title theme. Examples: ‘Wicked to the Core’ (Evil Queen - because as a witch she presents Snow White a Poison Apple), Evil Comes Prepared ( Scar- ‘Be Prepared’ Song), Perfectly Wretched ( A quote that Cruella Deville says : ‘Perfectly wretched darling’ from 101 Dalmatians) and The latest expansion, ‘Despicable Plots’ (Is a quote said by Monsieur D’arque about Gaston’s Plan - ‘Oh that is despicable, I love it!’) Also there are a lot more Male Villains they could add in future expansions, but unfortunately there are very limited female villains (Mad Madam Mim, Madame Medusa, Mayor Bellweather etc.), they could add, as Ursula, Maleficent, Queen of Hearts, Cruella Deville, Yzma, Mother Gothel, Evil Queen and Lady Tremaine have already been featured in all the ‘Villainous’ franchise. You could definitely add a female villain Character mover with the two other Male character movers in the later expansions, provided that they all incorporate within a title theme with the main Villain on the box. I picture a character that is trying to win the affection of Katrina Von Tasel but to do that you have to get the headless hoseman to vanquish Ichabod Crane.
@@TerreDiceGames There are a bunch of potential ides floating in my head about Shan Yu. Simplest one would be Hun soldiers being his allies. However, given Shan is very tactical and so formidable, they can remove the "move item/ally" and imbed it into the villain itself. To balance that, they could have certain locations trigger imperial soldier heroes to appear. In fact Gastone's "obstacles" would be perfect for this and I think is more fitting. Shan's falcon can he used to scry for the emperor and put him in the palace (last location on the board) and can only be unlocked unless Shan conquers the other 2 locations. (I'm thinking the first location would be outside of China) As for Heroes, I think Li Shang should have an affect that can pull more soldier heroes from the fate decks and put them back in Shan's way. Mulan, I think should have a heavy impact on Shan such as hiding the emperor back into the fate decks forcing you to scry again and empowering heroes at her location. I'm sure all of this is terribly unbalanced given it's just a brain dump but I think it can be a very fast paced character with a focus on vanquishing. OH, and before I forget, Mushu! Alone he can buff up the strength of heroes he is in the same location as. Maybe have a "fireworks" hero item that will then allow him to take out Shan allies at a location instantly. Again too many ideas lol

I would love to see move item/alley go into the character instead of just a board action. I think that would allow for some neat variants! Several people have said Shan Yu and for some reason I had always ruled him out maybe because he was too dark? But now I see how he could really work and would definitely fit into the line up!

Update: every Merlin you defeat you reveal a new one. So she place a vanquish action in each spot and combo with them. Now it’s kinda fun when you make it possible.

I think Governor John Radcliffe would be a for a future expansion based on Greed, his goal (similar to Prince John) would be collecting ‘gold’ as he is obsessed with it!

With Gaston, I think his gameplay of getting rid of "Obstacles" involves getting rid of things that would come between him and marrying Belle, as most of the Fate cards that add Obstacles symbolize moments in the story that involve Belle either growing closer to Beast (i.e. "I've Never Seen So Many Books") or becoming more repulsed by Gaston (i.e. "Massaging My Feet"), and most of the Villain cards that remove Obstacles symbolize moments in the story in which Belle was more estranged from the Beast (i.e. "Temper" and "Get Out").
I also love that one of Gaston's Villain cards is "Five Dozen Eggs," and that it involves strengthening an ally. That's so funny and fitting!
Yes that’s true! It makes no sense why the wolves are allies when Gaston has never worked with them. And also why is belle a fate card though and can be defeated???? When Gaston wants to marry her

In the original script for the movie, Gaston survives the fall from the Beast's tower, but breaks his leg from it and the wolves then get him.
Instead, they retooled that death a little and used it for Scar's death in 'The Lion King.'
Although, it wouldn't be the first time that an Ally card in 'Villainous' was of someone that the villain never directly worked with:
a) The Queen of Hearts has Tweedle- Dee and Tweedle- Dum as Allies even though she had no interaction at all with them.
b) Hades has Nessus as an Ally even though they never technically worked together or interacted with each other. Though Hades did have an interest in possibly recruiting Nessus for his rebellion against Zeus, it hadn't come to pass yet when Hercules faced and defeated him.
c) Mother Gothel has several royal guards as Allies even though she never worked with any of them.

Not only that but many allies also have too much strength.
And also some hero’s make absolutely no sense to be in the fate deck.
a) As mentioned belle in this fate deck.
b) Toby in prince John’s fate deck.
c) Eudora (tianas mother) in Dr facilier fatecdeck.
d) Grimsby and max in Ursula fate deck.
The reason being is these hero’s never interact or cause too much harm to the villian.
Not only that but some allies have too much or too little strength,
For example
Prince John’s rhino guards have 4 Strength. While Robin Hood and little John both have 5. And in the movie They dismantled them with ease. As well as Felicia in ratigans deck has a ridiculous 6 strength, she barely does anything to the hero’s In the movie.
I guess that do this to balance out the villians more but it’s still kinda wack

For a long time now I’ve been hoping for The Coachman from Pinocchio with Stromboli, Honest John, and Gideon as allies. Monstro might be better suited for a location. The goal could be turning a certain number of boys into donkeys and shipping them away. A little bit like Cruella’s goal with the puppy tokens.
A couple of obscure villains that I didn’t see mentioned already in the comments are Commander Rourke from Atlantis and John Silver from Treasure Planet. Either one would be fun to see added to a set with two more famous villains.

100% agree with John Silver from Treasure Planet! Had never thought of him before! Such an underrated movie. His goal is already so perfectly laid out but then again it's different from the others. Is he one of the first bad guys that turns "good" in the end? I would love to see how they would play that into the game. Would be interesting. Maybe if you grow too fond of Jim do you lose? Oh, and btw, regarding what Disney villains I'd like to see in future editions of the game, one is a villain who I wasn't fond of but must concede would fit in well in the game: Shan- Yu from 'Mulan.'
He could have LOADS of Villain cards to help him (i.e. The Falcon, his entire freaking army, maybe ones called "Burn the Village" and "Dragon Disguise," etc.), and Fate cards to hinder him (i.e. Mulan, the Emperor, Mushu, "Avalanche," "Fireworks," etc.).
It also wouldn't be hard to come up with a win condition for him, like kill the Emperor or something.
Can’t begin to tell you how much I love the intro! So sad to hear playing Gaston doesn’t feel true to his story. One of my favourites is Mother Gothel for its continuous battle of keeping Rapunzel away from Corona. I think the Disney Princess franchise is so big that they have to include their villains: Ratcliffe, Shan Yu & Hans but personally I would love Clayton, Madame Mim & Gantu. Clayton would be putting Gorillas into cages, Madame Mim would be competing in a wizard duel & Gantu would have to capture Experiment 626 💖💖

I think there are some more "obscure" villains that have great potential for this game, given the mechanics.
Madame Medusa (the rescuers) has a very clear objective: she wants to get her hands on the huge diamond (objective item), and to make it happen, she kidnapped a little girl (hero/ally) in order to force her into the small cave (location) where the diamon is! her four locations immediately come to mind: pawn shop, airport, devil's bayou and the pirate's cave!
Edgar the butler (the aristocats) has great potential too: he could need to get rid of all the cats, or maybe to retrieve his umbrella and hat (or both!)

@@jasons7844 there's so many ways to do this carachter because of who he is and because of its nature (not from a storytelling tale but a music tale) so i see two different route. One of hem would be to awakening all the evil in the land (like a curse placing thing like maleficent) and its ennemies would be the popular heros from fantasia. Or it could be destroying all the music in the realm all together by bringing a new mechanic. Still would be aggainst popular heroes from fantasia. But it such a magic character and i don't think theres a wrong way of doing this one.

I don’t know whether anyone has thought about Si and Am from ‘Lady & the Tramp’ as a Disney villain yet, but it would definitely be an unknown one in some future expansion, I don’t know, maybe it’s wishful thinking.
Their objective is to get Lady into trouble by getting the muzzle put on her and sending her to pound.
Heroes in the Fate Deck would be Tramp,Jock,Trusty,Peg and many other characters in ‘Lady and the Tramp’. The only Ally in the deck is Aunt Sara, but most of the trouble making cards are effects/items or conditions.
Their mover would be the two cats side by side and the colour would be light blue, like the colour of their eyes.

The ‘trouble making’ card ideas were the ripped curtains, vase spilt over the piano, a painting stand knocked over with Lady in the cloth, the bird cage with a bird flapping about and the fish in the bowl swimming round and round.
Also I loved the collaboration video you both did in discussing ideas for the expansions, especially when it came to Frollo.
I think like the villain ‘Ratigan’, he has a dual objective.
One: Prevent Quasimodo from going ‘Out there’ (ie Feast of Fools in the town square, helping Esmeralda escape from ‘sanctuary’) and capture him, if Esmeralda and Phoebus are there too, all the better!
Two: Vanish Esmeralda and Quasimodo at the top of Notre Dame, just like he tried to do in the movie.
I love the ‘sanctuary’ ideas when it came to Frollo - maybe when it comes to sanctuary, you put a 🔔 token on the hero. I think there should also be a condition card called ‘Choose me or the 🔥’ in which when you are fated, if Esmeralda is already in your realm, you can decide to give her ‘sanctuary’ in the Bell Tower or at the top of Notre Dame to Vanquish her.
As Frollo says to Esmeralda inside Notre Dame: ‘You’ve chosen a magnificent prison, but it is a prison nonetheless. Step one foot outside, and you’re mine!
Great review as always! If u search around BGG, there's alot of voices talking about typos and ambiguity in the preview, are they fixed from what you see? Or are they not issues in your opinion?
You know what I didn’t notice any typos but some of the cards seemed very ambiguous. For instance the cauldron born cards show a cost of 0 and nowhere on the cauldron born or ancient soldiers do they saw you swap one for the other. It looks like the cauldron born can be played for free. So definitely some ambiguity on some of the cards like that. Overall not a major issue because the individual villain rulebooks are good :) also, thanks for the kind words!!

@@TerreDiceGames my work gives me a lot of time to think so I thought about this idea for Shan Yu. His goal is to be alone (no heroes) in the imperial capital protected by a lock token. In order to unlock it, he needs to defeat three camps basically all heroes, at the locations the Great Wall, Village and mountains which would be protected in order by the wall guards, Shang's dad (forgot his name) and Shang. Once that is done, the imperial Palace unlocks and the emperor appears. Vanquish the emperor and all the heroes who come to defend him and hold it for a turn. What do you think?
There are some really good ideas in there! I like the idea of the wall guards. It would be very interesting to see all but one location locked. How would he move/choose different actions each turn? Something to think about :)

Had just bought the target exclusive version, best way I found to take off the sleeve w/o ripping it is to simply blow down into the sides of the sleeve and let gravity pull the box, a little patience this takes around 5 minutes

I always saw the obstacles as obstacles standing in the way of Gaston getting married to Belle. That's why Mosieur D'arque gets rid of obstacles, as in the movie, when Gaston attempts to blackmail Belle by committing her father to D'arque's asylum. Or Get Out removing 3 obstacles, because that was the moment when Belle was ready to quit on the Beast and go back home. Vanquishing Belle does make little sense, though, granted.
I would like to see Shere Kahn, Mad Madam Mim, Shan Yu, McLeach, Ratcliff, Oogie Boogie, so many good villains still out there.
Nobody has said Shere Kahn yet! That would be a really cool one to see. I wonder who his allies would be? And I personally would love to see McLeach or Madame Medusa join the gain. Both are great movies that disney doesn't do a whole lot with. Thanks for watching!
My top three picks for the next expansion would be Frollo, King Candy and Honest John. So much potential with Frollo's board given that he likely would have to vanquish Esmerelda and the crowd at the Court of Miracles (which would be locked to start the game), but then you could also make Notre Dame cathedral a sanctuary location for the heroes. So you could have a board where Frollo has to move both allies and heroes to truly position everything you need to vanquish.

I hope they incorporate Pixar into this eventually as well. Syndrome would have to be the first Pixar villain though. Having the Omnidroids and Mirage be his allies and the fate deck be full of the supers, it would be so filled with opportunities for good theme.
An interesting character for villainous would be Governor Ratcliffe from Pocahontas. His objective could be something along the lines of "wipe out the tribe" where you would have to start off by building fortifications at each location and then amass a certain amount of allies. Some fate cards could be along the lines of a peace treaty, starvation, ambush, and defecting where your allies and workers get removed from the board and one of your primary allies John Smith gets converted into a hero.
One people might not think about is using the Auto-Pilot from Wall-E (Pixar I know, but they're owned by Disney now). Not sure fully how the kit would work but I think it could be an interesting one.
Something else I know I would personally love, but would sit in legal limbo would be a studio ghibli themed expansion or even primary set. There are so many stories that could fit in interesting ways! Spirited away and Yubaba where you attempt to enslave Haku/Chihiro, your allies could be the other workers, the spirits, and magic spells while the fate deck could be the obvious heros of the film with No Face being a huge force that could wipe out part of plan. Princess Mononoke and Jigo, with the objective being to capture the forest spirits head and then escape. It could be a 2 part objective or work similarly to The Horned King's where once you have the head things start to turn against you. Howl's Moving Castle would work as well.
While Ghibli films obviously aren't owned by Disney, Disney did do all the localization and publishing in the states.

I had been thinking about him too, though I had gone with that his objective would be to obtain the most gold while controlling all the lands in the name of James Town. Love hearing different takes. Auto would be a neat one and so would the Ghibli films if Disney could swing it, i didn't know Disney handled the localization and publishing in the states! I would love to see the card art if they do.

No mention of the typos/misprints? This expansion had a huge quality assurance problem.
Definitely mentioned issues with vague descriptions (Horned King cauldron born... don’t say they can be played) - some of the other typos we heard about after filming this review :) most of it is harmless though we agree the grammatical errors are silly. Seems there is one impactful change, Maurices invention might not be an item that fights on its own, but an attachable with no strength.
@@TerreDiceGames the wording on Lucifer too is completely vague and does not really explain how he traps every hero at his location, even when a hero is placed there after Lucifer is already there or heroes at his new location if he gets moved.
What makes me sad is that Ravensburger had never been this careless with the other expansions (I think the base set had to have some cards reworded to clarify some rules, but it didn’t have typos as far as I can tell.) This carelessness with trying to publish this expansion without significant play testing or proof reading the cards rubs me the wrong way.
@@brunoareastoledo I was looking into it more and found out that this was the first expansion not done by Prospero Hall (the original designers hired by Ravensburger) Instead this was done by an in-house designer from Ravensburger. Might explain some of the missteps with this expansion and the rewording.

We were really disappointed with Gaston too! We thought that they should have done something similar to The Great Mouse Detective villain where he changes objectives at a point in the game. Gaston’s initial objective could be to woo Belle, but it can then change to kill the beast if pursuing Belle falls through.

Horned King is horrible, in my experience. If the Cauldron gets flipped you lose a Cauldron Born no matter what, requiring you to find another ancient soldier AND Cauldron Born from your deck. Also if Fflewddur Fflam gets drawn, and you have 2 or 3 Cauldron Born on the field, he can reset you to be like 8 turns away from winning since you can't move allies across the board quickly. If you try to play it safe by amassing Ancient Soldiers on the field, your hand gets littered with Cauldron Born you can't do anything with for the entirety of the game. I just can't find a good way to win as him. My GF feels the same way.
He is fun though, he can fate basically every turn and not really be all that held back by it.
I'd love to see Hans, Shere Khan or Tamatoa

I just found out about this expansion and as someone who grew up with The Black Cauldron, I was very excited to see the Horned King, who is one of my favorite Disney villains, in the game! As for who I would like to see in the next expansion (please make it happen because I have been hoping for these guys for a LONG time), I would love Frollo as well and I feel like his objective would be to capture esmerelda or keep Quasimodo in Notre Dame and the other villain I would love to see is Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas who I think would be a gambling type of mechanic similar to Queen of Hearts just a bit harder. And if I were to choose one more, Medusa from The Rescuers! I like that they bring lesser known villains into the game so that's why I pick her ^_^

I would love to see the MCP from tron. I have always loved those movies. His main gimmick would be assimilating rogue programs and defeating users. The main end goal would be beating Flynn and tron. I think it could work.

There's a bunch that absolutely should be added, but we're getting to lesser known villains now. Still, they did add some B tier villains already, like The Horned King, Pete, the Queen of Hearts, and Prince John.
Frollo is an iconic, fantastic villain, but it would feel really weird having him in the game. Since he's the most real out of all the villains. He's a real type of person that really did/would exist. A darkness inside all of humanity. He's consumed with lust and when this woman runs away from him he commits genocide against her race. It's far, far too real. The appeal in the game is the moustache twirling nature of these fantasy villains who are comedically over the top at times. Frollo is too real.
The ones that absolutely should be added, though, are: Oogie Boogie, Clayton, Shere Khan, Long John Silver, Chernabog, and Shan Yu.
Ones that I personally would like to see that are more long shots are: Alameda Slim, Queen Narissa, and Jumba Jookiba. I think Alameda Slim would be super fun, having to capture a bunch of cows himself by yodeling. And Jumba would be fun, having to create Stich and then make Stich evil and invade other planets. And then Lilo can come in and make him good. Kind of like Kronk for Yzma. I like the idea of Narissa, she can turn from cartoon to real person and have different abilities in each form.
They could also do a big Pixar expansion like Marvel, but make it compatible. If they can get the rights to Pixar movies. Pixar doesn't have as iconic villains as mainline Disney movies, though. Indeed, a lot of Pixar movies don't really have villains in the traditional sense. For that, I'm thinking: Randall from Monsters Inc, Syndrome from The Incredibles, AUTO from Wall-E, Ernesto de la Cruz from Coco, Lotso from Toy Story 3, and perhaps Hopper from A Bug's Life.
They could also do a Star Wars expansion like Marvel. For that you definitely want the traditional villains: Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Count Dooku, Darth Maul. But also definitely Grand Admiral Thrawn, because he's awesome. And he's in Disney canon with Star Wars: Rebels. Perhaps also Jabba the Hut, for a fun bounty hunter related side character.

Did they actually say Gaston is an easy character to play? Gaston is the hardest character to play out of the entire series,I mean just about every card in his fate deck allows you to put one or more objectives back on him so you could be down to only having to remove two objectives and then suddenly someone fates you and they could draw the fate card that allows them to put one objective back on each location and now you're almost back at square one..to me the easiest character was the horned king,all he has to do is exchange those skeleton cards for the other cauldron cards at each location and he wins the game and he really has no fate cards that will stop him from achieving his goal besides Gurgi and even then all you have to do on your next turn is jump to an activate spot and then reactivate the black cauldron card and he has no fate cards that allow you to remove an ally from his realm so basically if played right you could win the game with the horned king in maybe 6 rounds
Hey thanks for your comment! Yes, in the rulebook is said that Gaston is recommended for new players and Lady Tremaine is recommended for experienced players. I would say this is because while Gaston might not be as easy to win with because he so easily can end up back at square one (which is one of the things I point out is very frustrating with him) his objective however is very straight forward. So for a new player that is also new too gaming in general - his concept is easy to understand and you only have to focus on removing tokens. You make a good point that Horned King is only one of the easier ones to grasp and work with as well! Thanks for watching!

He's a tiny piece of the actual movies and if they went for Pixar, they're way more likely to pick either Sid, Al from Al's Toy Barn, Stinky Pete, or my top pick: Lotso. Not Gabby Gabby because she ultimately becomes good.

@@TerreDiceGames His objective to win would definitely be to vanquish Mowgli. I think the fate deck would be easy enough, it would include the obvious Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, Akela, Rama and the others in the wolf pack too, and maybe even the vultures because they help Mowgli in the battle at the end, and maybe Colonel Hathi. I think I would have Kaa, and King Louie in his villain deck as allies, as well as the pack of monkeys too. I would make the effect cards have the titles of his iconic quotes like, "it's me, Shere Khan" and "I'll count to ten". And in the fate deck I would include cards that make Shere Khan either lose power or discard an ally from his realm. I think the fate cards would be hard on him, and put him back to square one. The location would have to include the dead forest, the ancient runes (where king Louie lives), and I'm not sure about the others yet. But I really would love to see him in the next box (if there is one). Fingers crossed!!
And especially because the jungle book isn't as "big" as other Disney stories like the Lion king, Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast, they haven't used the jungle book for a lot of things. Which is so sad because it is one of my favourites!

I am someone who likes simple things. The game of villainous is one of these things. However I have not yet deemed the game as one of the best yet. So far each expansion has been making the game more unique, but for me personally it is still missing my favorite disney villain, the God of all evil from fantasia: chernabog. While I also desire frollo from hunchback as well, chernabog is well warranted for this game and I desperately want him to be a part of it.
Chernabog just wouldn't fit very well within the context of the game. He has no story because essentially he's just a part of an animated music video. So we don't know his goals, or desires. Also, there's no heroes for him. So his fate deck would be impossible to make unless you just make up characters. Cool looking character, but not for Villainous.
@@MoBorbon he doesn't need a story to fit in the game as he is evil incarnate. As far as goals and desires he is the Devil Himself so the possibilities can range from spreading his minions, darkness or influence throughout his realm like maleficent or defeating heroes like scar. He does have potential.

I have thought about this a lot: firstly a blue box ( cause than you have all the rainbow / infinity stone colors ) on the cover also prins Hans with the title “Cold Hearted”. The expansion should also include Claud Frollo and the third character should either be the lady from the rescuers or the queen from enchanted. I also want a pink box with king candy, madam min and the guy from Pocahontas title could be: Bitter Sweet. Lastly a green glow in the dark bord with oogje boogie, the demon from a night on bould mountain and shed khan from mulan maybe. Possible title: The shadows of the night

@Lowie Somers, I agree with you on a blue cover (maybe a light blue similar to the Frozen cover background with icy corners) and the Title ‘Cold Hearted’.
Although I personally think that Frollo deserves his own expansion as he is too ruthless to be ‘cold hearted’.
However I do think Prince Hans should be the main one for ‘Cold Hearted’ expansion, but I think the two other characters that should be included are: Governor John Radcliffe (Pocahontas) and Madame Medusa from (The Rescuers).
I still think ‘Dark and Cruel’ would be a brilliant name for another expansion because Quasimodo says to Frollo in the film: ‘All my life you’ve told me the world was a dark and cruel place, but now I see the only thing that is dark and cruel are people like you’.
The ‘Dark and Cruel’ expansion should have a grey stone background with coloured embossed flames (reminiscent of the song ‘Hellfire’) along with the titles and silhouette of Frollo, the mover being Frollo (a different shade of purple with glitter, and an embossed scarf Esmeralda gave to him), Shan Yu (eggplant green mover to match his outfit) and Clayton (a darker red mover to match the ascot he wears) .
There could be a target exclusive version with a Festival of Fools Slip cover and an exclusive Silver Frollo mover!

Examples: ‘Wicked to the Core’ (Evil Queen - because as a witch she presents Snow White a Poison Apple), Evil Comes Prepared ( Scar- ‘Be Prepared’ Song), Perfectly Wretched ( A quote that Cruella Deville says : ‘Perfectly wretched darling’ from 101 Dalmatians) and The latest expansion, ‘Despicable Plots’ (Is a quote said by Monsieur D’arque about Gaston’s Plan - ‘Oh that is despicable, I love it!’)
Also there are a lot more Male Villains they could add in future expansions, but unfortunately there are very limited female villains (Mad Madam Mim, Madame Medusa, Mayor Bellweather etc.), they could add, as Ursula, Maleficent, Queen of Hearts, Cruella Deville, Yzma, Mother Gothel, Evil Queen and Lady Tremaine have already been featured in all the ‘Villainous’ franchise.
You could definitely add a female villain Character mover with the two other Male character movers in the later expansions, provided that they all incorporate within a title theme with the main Villain on the box.

@@TerreDiceGames There are a bunch of potential ides floating in my head about Shan Yu. Simplest one would be Hun soldiers being his allies. However, given Shan is very tactical and so formidable, they can remove the "move item/ally" and imbed it into the villain itself. To balance that, they could have certain locations trigger imperial soldier heroes to appear. In fact Gastone's "obstacles" would be perfect for this and I think is more fitting. Shan's falcon can he used to scry for the emperor and put him in the palace (last location on the board) and can only be unlocked unless Shan conquers the other 2 locations. (I'm thinking the first location would be outside of China) As for Heroes, I think Li Shang should have an affect that can pull more soldier heroes from the fate decks and put them back in Shan's way. Mulan, I think should have a heavy impact on Shan such as hiding the emperor back into the fate decks forcing you to scry again and empowering heroes at her location. I'm sure all of this is terribly unbalanced given it's just a brain dump but I think it can be a very fast paced character with a focus on vanquishing. OH, and before I forget, Mushu! Alone he can buff up the strength of heroes he is in the same location as. Maybe have a "fireworks" hero item that will then allow him to take out Shan allies at a location instantly. Again too many ideas lol

Several people have said Shan Yu and for some reason I had always ruled him out maybe because he was too dark? But now I see how he could really work and would definitely fit into the line up!
