I never will understand why they never had him on sooner, this man has been pulling stuff like this off since the first album he was on. He is one of my influences in my drumming.
Fun fact: as a self-taught drummer, Daniel svensson mentioned in an interview that Pantera drummer vinnie paul was a big influence on him since he first started playing drums
his recorded sound has always been nice, and my personal favourite, but he has onlyhad a brief sweetspot, check out live vids pre-2000 when he had his death metal defining scream. It was best in the stye era when they made the live DVD. Bjorn Strid, Christian Alvestam and Anders are all my favourite screamers, although the other two are amazing vocalists in general (from soilwork and scar symmetry). Angela Gossow is also an honourable mention for a screamer.
Yea Strid is sweet, he has an awesome clean singing voice. But I like Anders' just as much with his clean vocals. I think his scream is at it's best right now, it sounds amazing. And if you see them live (F(r)iend from the In Live We Trust DvD) he can get pretty damn deep too. It's crazy.
Search Yanic Bercier, Morgan Agren, Dirk Verbeuren...those are 3 pretty common metal drummers (not so much morgan) who Daniel couldn't touch. For what In Flames is, he's one of the best, but there are far better out there (that goes for everyone in In Flames...even though they are my favourite band).
haha there are tons of drummers that would eat him for breakfast. for what in flames is though, there couldnt be a better drummer, and I love his style, especially the double bass, he just doesnt do boring nonstop double bass beats like most metal drummers. The double bass in this song/album is amazing...especially in abnegation and move through me
thats becayse he doesnt use the left one, he has a double pedal to the right one.. so the drumtech can tune one kickdrum only, he has 2 just because of the looks..

Svensson is killing his talent in In Flames. He did more interesting stuff in Sacrilege, where he also wrote some music. But who would reject an offer druming for In Flames...i dont blame him.
@Drumkid945 They absolutely do. I'd murder my sound man in studio if my drum kit sounded like that. But that doesnt take away from how bad these ones sound. Even the kick is flappy as hell. Snare has no body. I'm just too damn picky.
this is not one my favorite drummer because i could probably play most in flames songs my favourite drummer is george kollias because i sure as hell cant play like him so people who have daniel as their favorite drummer maybe cant play like im sure there a people who can to but....but..but.but
People might piss and moan about this album, but it has undeniably badass drumming. Danny killed it that record.

Daniel's drumwork has always been very solid, even on the band's weaker albums. He's always been very underrated in my opinion.
Over a decade later, the cymbals in this song still make me shiver.
Wish this was in higher quality video and audio. Daniel deserves it. Such a a sick drummer.

I think it's interesting that he uses both bass drums on slow bass parts as well as the fast. Nothing wrong with it, just interesting.

Daniel Svensson is a great drummer. His parts are absolutely perfect for the songs they are written for. That's what is most important.

Daniel is absolutely a great drummer. But DAMN whoever EQ'ed those toms needs to be shot. They sound HORRIBLE.
