Most under-rated drummer in all of metal. There used to be talk between musicians about him, he would play for hours without making a single mistake. Not only that, but his drumming consistently fits the music perfectly. Probably one of the greats no one will talk about.
as a drummer my self i just love daniels style of playing. for me one of the best metal drummers. i was so sad when he left in flames but im so happy i got to see him with in flames 2011 in hovet stockholm, same year the released "sound of a playground" and the first song was sound of the playground and it sound was so clean, like the studio version but much better, they are great live
no puedo evitar cada tanto retornar a estos vídeos de Daniel, mi álbum favorito de IN FLAMES, excepcional trabajo de esta máquina, el feeling y la diversidad de su composición 👌
There was a huge difference for Daniel as a drummer. In Flames were touring way more then most bands will ever do. Daniel smashing 1,5 hours 5-6 times a week was a huge corner stone for In Flames throughout the years.
That kick rhythm at 1:07 is so fucking sick. I met him and In Flames several times after shows, and Daniel is an awesome dude. phenomenal drummer, one of metal's best. I see some people here talking shit about him.... you know, because they're such big successes with satisfying lives.
it's a nice pattern yes. btw did you notice at 1:10 one kick is a little too late? not hating on him though, I really dig his drumming! It's only nice to see he's still a human ;) and i'm far from being able to play like that
.. are you really sure that professional drummer cannot play hard and fast? This isnt even a topic here to discuss. The world is full of show off drummers... filling every second with billions of kicks. but still the best drumming is technically clean and understandable. Daniel Svensson is one of the very best metal drummers. And my total favourite
Dear Adde ,Do you know something about drumming ? Beats in this song are perfect . Daniel plays with In Flames more than 15 years ,he knows his job .And i clearly see that you never listened to original version`s ending .
He uses a double pedal and kicks the same bassdrum the right bassdrum , the left bassdrum is just an ornament for doing the show ,maybe the marketing about having 2 bass drums as a metal drummer we don`t know ... ,but it can really becomes a need to put the 2 bassdrums even if you just hit one with a double pedal , Dominik IN FLAMES drum tech explains what`s up with Daniel's Set up on the Used and Abused DVD .
Daniel and Patrick grun of caliban are my 2 favorite melodic death metal drummers of all time! I mean daniel’s signature china in the soundtrack to your escape is iconic in my opinion which he brought back in the halo effect!
Since he's using a rack, I'd say it's the stage. I've played on some pretty run down stages and the vibrations of your kick drum go through the whole stage.
trigger = Kind of drummic. If you have triggered bass drum, you can mix the sound on your computer. And you can also put more/less volume on your bass. Sorry my english
Outstanding drummer! Met him after a show they played in Hollywood. Him and Bjorn are by far the coolest guys of the 5. He was asking what my favorite in flames album was, and my favorite song, and was just really cool and genuine. One thing I find interesting, and I couldn't tell if he still does this from this video, but he has 2 bass drums, but his kick pedals only hit one. The other one literally has no function. It's just for show. Not sure if that's still the case.
@Synetik4 I definately agree with you about tuning the two bass drums to the same pitch. it sucks. But there is just something about actually using the other bass drum that sounds so much more powerful. with a double pedal it takes away from the resonance of the bass drum. It feels better to me too. but to each his own
When using a double pedal on a single bass drum, the left beater is often resting against the drum head and doesn't give the right beater as much "thud" when played on its own.
@Oxpost not the "majority" of the songs. i havent even tried to play that many. sure they have songs that are pretty hard, but most of them are very technically easy to play, im not a wonderchild =)
@ProfessorBastard no i get that, i mean he has two bass drums, but instead of two single pedals, he is using a double. Nothing is hitting the left bass drum.
@Whitesekurity13 Using one bass drum gives a more consistent sound, the drum tech doesn't need to tune two kick drums each and every night, but with two bass drums the kit becomes easier to make a good stereo image of. :)
@poopjuice0 I've seen guys that used different size/tune bass drums in their sets. Possible that those are different sizes or tunings. Also possible that it's just for show though.
Love Daniel and the whole In Flames x). favourite band! Btw Daniel is not the best drummer in the world, but that doesnt matter becuase the way hes playing is GREAT for In Flames!!
@nonhasthisusername I totally agree with you! in flames have gone more easy listening for now... fortunately they havent lost theyre ability to make real good music... i suprised because of the "construction" of the songs and the whole album.. so many different and new. New melodies, Anderses vocals, totally different approaching- thanks to Bjorn, he made it and love it. I dont expect they create anything like from 90s anymore.. anything that goes for the money goes for the masses..
@HyporiZ I guess you haven't tried any of the more complicated ones. He's not the best in the world, not even close. But you've got to be a wonderchild more or less to be able to play the majority of In Flames songs after only a year!
Even though I personally dont place this album far up the ladder throughout their career I believe that the songs from ASOP are far more complicated for them to play ... just hope next ablum they will combine that together with some oldish style
the only thing i dont understand is why some drummers have two bass drums when they are using a double pedal anyways. Is the image of having two separate bass drums really THAT important to metal?
@ACDCman1727 sorry? i said in flames songs are easy to play(compared to alot of other metal bands) i never said that its bad because its not hard to play ... whos the troll here :/
@nonhasthisusername For now i have the latest album, and know every note by heart..so i can answer to you.. i agree theres not much to compare to earlier albums but actually thats the thing that makes the last release so special... i also had my own expectations before but it all turned a huge suprise after the first listening. :)
he is so great at what he plays , there are a lot of metal drummers that owns daniel but ... this man got something a lot of drummers don`t , he got his own touch ,he is very original his drum fills the way he go from one part to other of the song , it's not the tipical super fast drums fill on toms , man in flames is so original and daniel plays an important part of that with his non standard metal drumming , Daniel Svensson fantastik trummis. IN FLAMES we trust MEXICO CITY ¡¡
@HyporiZ Try to play Leeches, Take this life, Crawling through knives from Take this life album. And March to the shore, the mirrors truth, Drenched in fear from A sense of purpose.
@skateboardlover22 yes they have harder songs. i probably cant play the songs u mentioned. but that doesnt mean theyr hard, ive been playing for a year. i just meant if u compare them to alot of other metal bands, in flames drum tracks are easy. im not bashing on in flames nor their drummer, i love in flames and i think the drums sound good ... my point was that daniel is really far from being the best metal drummer, which he is.
I've been there at the meinl drum festival. it was his first gig without a band and infront of 2000drummers!!! he was quite nervous but i think he made a great job although he is no clinic drummer at all. live the drumms sounded better than this rough mix
Most under-rated drummer in all of metal. There used to be talk between musicians about him, he would play for hours without making a single mistake. Not only that, but his drumming consistently fits the music perfectly. Probably one of the greats no one will talk about.
awesome drummer, very under rated. i think he makes some incredible drum parts.
Playing to one's full potential doesn't mean playing crazy drum fills. Being a super tight drummer is just as good a way to fulfill one's potential.
My opinion. Greatest metal drummer of all time. Has a signature. In Flames has lost a massive component without Daniel.
And Jesper
Ever heard of Dirk Verbeuren?
I agree ✌🏻
Imagine if you knew 4 yrs ago that he would become the drummer for The Halo Effect.
Tanner is pretty awesome
as a drummer my self i just love daniels style of playing. for me one of the best metal drummers. i was so sad when he left in flames but im so happy i got to see him with in flames 2011 in hovet stockholm, same year the released "sound of a playground" and the first song was sound of the playground and it sound was so clean, like the studio version but much better, they are great live
His way of drumming is my way. Daniel is the only drummer in the world that has given me the passion too play drums!
i love the double bass towards the end. the timing is lovely and sits so well in the song
Love his Drumming, makes me want to learn.. i often find myself air drumming, especially to a sense of purpose. so good!
"I feel like shit, but at least I feel something." Who can't relate to that?
🤚🏻

the best drummer i have ever known. not need any words
IN FLAMES WE TRUST!
One of the best chinas I 've ever heard, if not the best.
he he he .... love the way his kit dances!!
That kick rhythm at 1:07 is so fucking sick. I met him and In Flames several times after shows, and Daniel is an awesome dude. phenomenal drummer, one of metal's best. I see some people here talking shit about him.... you know, because they're such big successes with satisfying lives.

i love how the whole set moves.
Dear Adde ,Do you know something about drumming ? Beats in this song are perfect . Daniel plays with In Flames more than 15 years ,he knows his job .And i clearly see that you never listened to original version`s ending .
mistakes or not, he's a great drummer, one of my favourites!! i saw him live, and he fucking rocked!! in flames for life!!!
do you guys remember that weekly report they did before there new album, where daniel was always running and drumming around naked looking for beer?
He uses a double pedal and kicks the same bassdrum the right bassdrum , the left bassdrum is just an ornament for doing the show ,maybe the marketing about having 2 bass drums as a metal drummer we don`t know ... ,but it can really becomes a need to put the 2 bassdrums even if you just hit one with a double pedal , Dominik IN FLAMES drum tech explains what`s up with Daniel's Set up on the Used and Abused DVD .

Awesome breakdown at 1:06
i love that guy
@HyporiZ It's not about rating or ranking drummers, it's about making music.
yes you're right. but it's so hard to play this live perfectly and daniel is a great drummer. he is my idol
amen,
people are so caught up on whos the best.
who cares, daniel is not trying to compete.
he has a nice style and it compliments in flames well.
Daniel was AWESOME!!!
Daniel is so fuckin awesome. Love that dude and In Flames
@0Zakk0
He dident make any misstake,
They sometimes live choose to play some fills different becuse they´re bored
@DrumBum561 It's on the title. It's Disconnected...

i got a 16" meinl mb 20 heavy crash and it sounds amazing!
@Oxpost not the "majority" of the songs. i havent even tried to play that many. sure they have songs that are pretty hard, but most of them are very technically easy to play, im not a wonderchild =)
in flames 4 life
I like the sound :)
once again awesome drumming from daniel btw the kit is shaking when he plays bass drums :D
lets tead the tittle of the vid,,,
1st the name of the drummer then the name of the festival then the name of the song;)
Is there a dvd or something with this on, and maybe even some lessons, i've got a drum dvd with Shannon Larkin from Godsmack, and that helped me alot
@Vienershmaken thats where you are wrong, dont underestimate this guy, he's awesome!
@ProfessorBastard no i get that, i mean he has two bass drums, but instead of two single pedals, he is using a double. Nothing is hitting the left bass drum.
saw them last month:|
wish i could see m again:O
@Whitesekurity13 Using one bass drum gives a more consistent sound, the drum tech doesn't need to tune two kick drums each and every night, but with two bass drums the kit becomes easier to make a good stereo image of. :)
@alainjepp yes we do my familys friend built the program in that plug.. so yes!
Go and look his profile at Meinl's site.
his whole freakin' drumkit shakes wen he plays!!!!
@poopjuice0 he did that in this video! i don't really get why they do that?!
look at feet camera, i never understand why svensson has a double bass but he always use a double pedal.. does someone can answer me?
@poopjuice0 I've seen guys that used different size/tune bass drums in their sets. Possible that those are different sizes or tunings.
Also possible that it's just for show though.
any of u guys tell me the name of the song?
sounds amazing...iwaana get it
yea, i can totally see it. also check out rhcp drummer chad smith's resemblance to will ferrel.
The set configuration might not be the same but the cymbals are.
Love Daniel and the whole In Flames x). favourite band! Btw Daniel is not the best drummer in the world, but that doesnt matter becuase the way hes playing is GREAT for In Flames!!

@HyporiZ " the drum parts in in flames are incredibly easy to play, even i can play most(not all) of them". Give me names on these easy songs then.
@HyporiZ I guess you haven't tried any of the more complicated ones. He's not the best in the world, not even close. But you've got to be a wonderchild more or less to be able to play the majority of In Flames songs after only a year!
@Dsteve96 lool dammit! thx anywayz :P
crazyyyyyyy
@HyporiZ So... 5 songs? Out of how many?!
lang is such a beast of a drummer
@Dsteve96 can i ask where you got this info from?
thx!
Even though I personally dont place this album far up the ladder throughout their career I believe that the songs from ASOP are far more complicated for them to play ... just hope next ablum they will combine that together with some oldish style

@Conviviumsweden he has that live to. and already did!
oohh, sorry, at first I was supposed to say something else I'm not very good in English. so, Daniel Is Awesome
@ACDCman1727 sorry? i said in flames songs are easy to play(compared to alot of other metal bands) i never said that its bad because its not hard to play ... whos the troll here :/

i dont know why hes use a double pedal it is cool to have 2 bassdrums and tune them diffrent when doing a paradidle
kick ass drummer from a kick ass band :D:D
it's a tama starclassic. don't think they would give one of their important artists something like a superstar
@emilbestcool1 and also eargasm, especially the ride:)
what song is he playing?
@TheTECNJonsson
I don't find any mistakes, someone else maybe!
dont quote me on this but i think its cus he is not using triggers
@TheTECNJonsson definitely made a few slip ups
Read Video info.
Hope these drums were over 18...
if you open your eyes you´ll se that it stands disconnected on top of the video xD
I've been there at the meinl drum festival. it was his first gig without a band and infront of 2000drummers!!! he was quite nervous but i think he made a great job although he is no clinic drummer at all. live the drumms sounded better than this rough mix
its a mb20 china
