I remember playing this album on repeat everyday on the bus ride to school on my portable cd player. It always helped me get through the day and always gave me chills from just how good it was.
@chrisfitzgerald4775 absolutely dude! I remember when the first ipod came out. I begged my parents for a Zune because all the rich kids in my class had an iPod and I wanted something different. This was the first album I added to my library.

This spectacle, our collapse It's not a false alarm The ashes settle in I guess, we are the insane As we ignore the mirror's truth Should I join the feast? Should I acknowledge the leash? the mix is just so fucking awful lmao, sounds like it was literally clipping 95% of the time and they just threw a limiter on there and called it a day. but yeah i always thought this song was pretty cool. this album really began their decline imo but there's a few hidden gems on there
@@killerxpanda3267 totally agree. I like a. It of In Flames. I own Clayman and I, the mask. Just now hearing this sound and it's pretty epic. I love double kick a lot.
@J. G. Yeah man, everything up until Colony was fantastic, and then the albums up to A Sense of Purpose weren't as good but still good. Everything since though has just been.....meh. They have sold out a bit, but if that's the route they want to take and are happy with it then good for them. I just won't be buying or listening to any of their new stuff unless they go back to their older style.
That was THE wierdest, scariest, freakiest music-video I've even seen... And I LOVED it!!! :D Keep up the good work guys! Hope to hear more from ya soon!
Maan after all these years knowing about this band and not listening to them i decided one day that i will play some song. Now i listen to this album almost every day and its so great. They have some familiar melodies like Iron Maiden which is my favorite band and their music is even helping me getting over some bs in life
Omg I've never really watched the video!!!! Heard this song lots b4, but what the what, I'm sure I'll get by the end of the song, or shit sometimes songs dont have to mean anything, just rock ur ass off and after wards your like: Thank You In Flames for the music!!!! 🖤🖤🤘🤘💯💯🤟🤟
My typewriter... I have three and none of them work! Now I find books written that sound exactly like what I had said many times or even just spoke or thought of it. Thoughts do really become things really fast.
Well it's not so much the meaning itself that intrigues me as the abstract art style. Judging by how In Flames' music has gradually become moreso themed around the human condition ever since clayman, I'd say the music video has something to do with the idea of leading an ordinary, substance-less existence and being controlled by some omniscient power. The scenes repeatedly showing the pinball map reinforce this idea as even in the past, In Flames have used the idea of a pinball map as a symbol of life's predictable structure (including on the song... well... pinball map).
Idk why I didn’t understand this video when I was younger, just thought it was cool. The message seems so obvious now and it’s true, “we aren’t even trying!” 😒
I think this song has a strong anti-systemic vibe... (the dudes working fast, the master watching them) They also talk about "the spectacle, our collapse" (modern capitalism I guess?) "The leash" is a reference to the 8-hour work day?. "we shouldn't live by your laws" I think it's about corporations, states and ideologies that enslave the free humans. "call the swarm, feed them with another false hope" To me this lines refers to the illusion of choice that polititians give us (specially here in latin america) The chorus "Without even trying, Let this light explode" refers to the anger and frustration of not being able to be optimistic about "a future in captivity and not being who you supposed to be" The solution they give us is to "find the exit sign and disappear" don't know if they're talking about creating your own game with your own rules, or go to live in a forest or just commit suicide. I conclude this song is very nihilistic. But in the end it's an amazing song overall and I love it.

Metal videos should only be a combination of live concert footage, the band jamming in an abandoned warehouse or barn and some simple but violent side story. Lol

People sometimes like to rip on this album saying it was when in flames was really changing but this album had great structure to the songs

This was the last good In Flames album for me. I just don't like the sound of the later albums, it doesn't cut it for me at all.
