Batman's true villains are serial killers and gangster. That's what made the animated series and the other comics (that had him be an actual detective) were so good.
And businessmen.
Yes the concept of batman works well when it's not supernatural events and foes. Writers trying to one up another placing him in crossovers and supernatural villians has made the character seem less interesting. The character of batman should be more of a police story grounded in reality.
Thats what was so cool to me about the new bat man movie with Robert Pattinson because of the film noir aspect. Batman is just such an awesome character and you can tell any story you want but with batman its still familiar.

It's not really mentioned here but Bruce really was directly the cause of his parents death in this universe. If I remember correctly he bumps into Joe Chill, sees this shady man in an alleyway and basically goes "my parents are the richest people in the city, my dad's Thomas Wayne" and joe chill is literaly stops in his tracks and is like "..... oh word?" and then takes bruce hostage. His arrogance and privilege literally led him to putting his parents in a situation that ended up getting them killed. I know he's a kid but i think it's an interesting take on bruce not really thinkinh things through and staying with that character flaw into adulthood.
That would explain why Bruce Wayne is the mask, because it would seem odd for a person directly responsible for their parents death, and seeing their death occur to become a vigilantly crime fighter that takes justice into their own hands and removes weakness, to still have weaknesses like arrogance and overconfidence, I think that Bruce Wayne is the mask the kid who got his parents killed, and The Batman is what remains

funny how grown men can do a case study on Batman so easily😄😄, but yes I agree, I wonder if you took batman and put him in real life scenarios would he be classified as a psychopath or someone with many personalities, due to the use of his 'camouflage' and lack of actual remorse and complete control of emotion.

He is hyper intelligent and able to at will compartmentalize his own thoughts and aspects of his personality. He accomplished this not from defect but from training. He litteraly trained himself to gain what you call “multiple personalities”. I’m not sure if his trained compartmentalizing still classifies as mental disease if it’s an earned and trained skill.
Alfred being an ex-merc is totally believable to me with how many other comics show Alfred being a genuine threat to intruders

I mean this guy is pretty dark. A really creepy, unsettling killer. But he's not Batman's darkest villain at all. That title belongs to James Gordon Jr.
IMO cornelius stirk, dollmaker and professor pyg are all way more evil then gordon JR.

@@Redtube831 I just started reading comics 2017 but I mainly read all of Batman 2011 2016 3 jokers some Thor 2020 run I can’t get all caught up with everything so I read hero’s I like I watch his videos of all the 3 main dc crisis blackest knight some of the big famous stories are the ones I play when I’m at work but so far form what I’ve read my favorites are Batman endgame and for the gor the godbutcher story are hands down my favorite comics I’ve read

Bullock and Gordon sort of switched places in this version.
I actually hate this type of characters. Mostly they exist only to be scoffed at by the reader, and to make main heroes seem artificially smarter (smarter not because they are smart, but because others are dumb). They are fun in moderation, like an episodic character, but I do not like them as main, or even side characters. They mostly work best as main protagonists - the viewers window to the world, those who learn and ultimately save the day.
But to be fair, Harvey Bullock is far from the worst example. I do like he didn't get his a** beat-up during his first intervention, and he seemed to adapt fairly quickly. I do not like how his story ends, however. With Jim going straight, I think we should see Harvey becoming tougher, not a broken wreck.
Earth One is the best DC Line in ages. Wish they continued it

Like, it’s great, but put against something like The Long Halloween, Knightfall, or Year One, it doesn’t quite reach those heights.
I’d probably put it somewhere above Court of Owls (except for the woeful ending) and slightly below RIP. Maybe a bit above Death of the Family.

IIRC he had a military background as far back as the 90s cartoon making him SAS
Gotham used a lot from this comic, Penguin running for mayor, Alfred (though he's less apprehensive in Gotham, Bruce basically becomes his kid) , heck even the design of this version of Penguin, the more slightly more Svelte design of cobblepot is used (which is the only flaw of Gotham penguin but the actor is so fantastic I don't mind.).
Truthfully I've always loved penguin, all his different characters (except Danny DeVito penguin) but The Gotham version is truly my favorite, his actor is also amazing.

I really wanted the Earth 1 series to continue. What we have so far with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Teen Titans should havebeen longer.
Ended up reading all the way up to Vol 3 with how it was presented, and it was an amazing read. Its such a shame that it hasn't had a continuation and from what I read, no official one was planned.

Well obviously….. the real dark and disturbing ones aren’t shown as much for that reason, they’re too much for the average person, they can’t be on tv, they can’t be on video games (unless maybe prof pyg) ofc there’s darker more disturbing villains than the joker, hell his schtick is about making you laugh, sure the jokes will be dark but that just makes him not as disturbing if he’s willing to joke about the stuff he does
I love the stories that the Earth one Universe had offered especially for the Trinity of Superman Wonder Woman and Batman.
Fun little fact to that some of the earth one Batman story ideas went into the live action Batman films.
Which is a shame because I was really hoping that Geoff johns would do like a fourth volume to the Earth One Batman the Earth One variation of poison ivy and maybe even the joker an Harley Quinn as well.

Batman Earth One (volume 1) is really good but it’s nowhere near the best Batman story. Weird statement. It was especially let down by the sub par volume 2 and 3.

Plenty of people without "privilege" aren't criminals committing crimes. That is because they aren't selfish people. By claiming a lack of "privileged" is what causes crime, you take all autonomy from people and just forming a preconceived opinion of a group that is not based on reason or actual experience. You are claiming all "people without privilege" are good but their lack of privilege forces them to do bad things to other people. The inverse is also prejudicial, because it suggests that anyone who has "privilege" that commits a crime can't be doing it out of desperation like those "without privilege" and could only do it because they are bad or evil.
