I have had my fair share of idiots, this situation is not toxic at all. The guy clearly truly thought you should be able to do this without food and melds. When the truth is your do need them.
My static doesn’t require food buffs when we’re progging, but the key thing is that we know each other and know what to expect. If you’re going into PF, you definitely need full meld and food because you don’t know who you’re grouping with
@@chrishoppner7875 oh I always use food personally, I’m an AST so I’m squishy AF. Not everyone in my static does during progging but none of us care too much. We *do* expect it once we get close to enrage though
Facts. My last guild we had a decently small raid group, so if anyone didn't show we'd have to pug. We didn't put up with any nonsense. We asked once then you're gone.
FFXIV: Gives you HQ food as quest rewards. 30mins of high quality food can be bought on the market board for trivial amounts of gil. Truly trivial amounts. The cost of three teleports. Toxic Casuals: "Don't make me waste food on savage practice. You're toxic. You don't pay my sub." The reality is there's a type of casual player that treats any effort as unnecessary to experience the game, and any request of effort as a form of attack. These are the kinds of people that we are forced to carry through content and spend our time sighing at. There's a difference between a player just being bad at the game and trying their best; you can tell those players, bless them. I'll carry them any day. Lazy entitled brats that expect me to carry them, though, can just go for a long walk off a short pier. We've lost the meaning behind 'filthy casuals' to memeing and elitists, but this is why we used to use the phrase back in the day. We didn't exclude new players, or bad players; we excluded lazy players.
At that point you didn’t even have to overmeld either. It’s 2 lvl 10 materia that everyone should have for each slot. I cleared up to Phoinix in PF before the fights got too much for a PF group to manage, and while I was far from BIS, I still tried to set my toon up to be as useful as possible
You could also ask someone remove Chest or Legs because that are literally the Substats combined trough Melding. Im so sick of this BS. Everyday on Expert Roulette i see ppl who dont Meld the Gear. For Leveling....okay but when youre stop switching your Gear every Day you should start meld it. Its not even the Case Materia is super expensive or so. Just run your expert Roulette, maybe do some Fates, do your weekly 24 Man and you should have enough Cluster to meld your entire Gear.
even if its not savage... materia is 15% of stats missing when you dont, food i care less about unless savage ofc. and its annoying in duties or PF when ppl just dont care and wanna be carried by everyone else at least have the decency to at least try your best. edit: 5:20 ive lost count myself there, so many dont wanna admit they goofed up... tbh. i avoid savage... way too toxic. and ive tried i really have, there is just no static of FC, they are all on chaos DC toxic. the end. i havent tried get in one thou for 1 year now thou.
personally i think the only time food really matters in savage is when your gear isn't that great and you're dying a lot and/or to raid wide aoe's. or if you aren't meeting dps checks. it's really noticeable when raids first come out and you can't really outgear the difficulty but even at min ilvl you can get away without food. should you? probably not but it's def not toxic for someone to ask you to food buff. especially when what, a 2 hour session is 4 meals, less with manuals or fc buffs?
When doing savage, I'm usually silent in chat, but I saw what I want out loud to get it off my chest lol. My 2 friends and I do pugs for savage, and we've gotten some awful people. People joining when they aren't where we're trying to prog, trolls joining to purposefully kill, elites immediately insulting people for playing certain jobs/asking for certain jobs to be kicked, etc. Luckily the mean ones are far between. It's great to be in a voice chat so we can vent to each other instead of causing issue in the chat lol
Unlike they were asking for full overmeld. Plus even if it is practice, you need to still take a hit. Now I just remember back in the days of yore with ARR, when we were looking for a healer for Coils. Found one who used VIT accessories to meet the iLevel requirement and said "It's just minor stat changes.". Ran out of MP not even a third in Minstrel Ballad Ultima since that is dmg heavy.
My issue with some is that the word 'Toxic' gets tossed around at the smallest things. It is used as a scapegoat by many whenever something in the least is said against them.
My response to all of this would be "just pullll, JUST PULLLLLLL!" Yeah, rdm should have food and meld, but if this is blind/fresh prog if you wipe due to him being too low on hp and refused to eat, exit instance kick him and refill.

I think some people think that practice can't turn into a win. Like all they will do is practice.... People can practice enough to win, melding and having food is a norm. If people find that toxic when someone suggests it... Well.... someone need's to stop been so sensitive and a cry baby.
Me this how it goes if there's some type of arguments in the party chat I will be the one quiet about it I always going watch it going down 😆 on else you are mention my name then I will write down something but other then that I will watch and enjoy the dispute until they find a way to settle this down 😄😝
"It's simple. Just bring me all the souls you can. In trade, I'll make you new weapons and forge the ones you already have. Not a bad deal, eh?" Yes it's Demon's Souls, but the point still stands. You can use food in any instance or choose not to, and this can totally work. At the absolute very least, you can always consider what to do, but SOMETIMES... Sometimes, it's best to go with whats recommended. I would say that for raids, tis zlways a good thing to use food and even if you don't have the best for whatever reason, like Baldwin said about bringing him all the souls you can, bring all the food you can, whatever it may be. Always have some on hand, especially for a roulette!
I actually don't eat until we see enrage or are unable to clear a dps check, same with pots. Reason being, i dont have a ton of gil to burn. Though I do fully meld.
Not saying you need Gil to savage, but if you can't spend 10k on food then I'm not sure you're ready to start real savage progging, maybe spend a day farming potd or something to make a quick 100k
Ya, if someone pushes my buttons - I'll go off too. But that's why I don't play WoW after 18 years... it was time to go for me. =P But in FFXIV I've never had that issue with that. 😃
