    The best metric for healers is combined healer damage, which is ranked in fflogs. It’s great because it requires both healers to work together to share healing and plan cooldowns to minimize gcd heals.
    Also, comparing healing numbers is hard because a lot of it depends on the mitigation abilities from tanks/dps and whether people fail mechanics. If everyone does their job perfectly, there’s actually less overall damage and so your healing parse will look worse. It’s totally possible for both healers to gray parse in healing without making any mistakes or causing deaths.

    fflogs is a great tool for learning your class and you can see other people's rotation in a certain phase if you want to output as much dps as possible, but obviously people are using it the wrong way. You can play the samurai to have the highest damage output, but without learning your class, you'd be dealing a subpar damage which can hinder the static or party.
    tl;dr it's a great tool for learning your class, just don't be toxic

      Agreed. I dont use logs, but my static members do and only use it to figure out where they can do better, they are allowed to give feedback to me though, and they are also great friends, and are being very nice about it if they give me constructive critisism. @@Kuroganemk2 that's not faking the good ones, though, just filtering out sub par performances. Getting an orange parse is getting an orange parse, it still requires you to execute your rotation and keep uptime while avoiding mechanics, showing you are competent. It's highly unlikely a grey parser is going to have a single orange run and then hide all the grey to misrepresent. Healer parses might be the exception because, depending on the fight, it might be "fake" in the sense they threw all the healing to their partner while they solely parsed, which wouldn't be a great indication of their overall utility and skill.

    I don't do sav prog (cause I honestly don't think I have the sanity to do them) but I've been doing all of this expansion's EXs 'cause they're fun and have a difficulty level that suits me. On the note of healers....I progged Storm's Crown as SGE and I like farming EX's for loot (or just helping others get that clear), but there is a scary amount of healers in farm groups that either don't heal or don't heal when they need to heal. Too many times have I seen half of the party being killed after being hit by Aero IV and the un-telegraphed aoe after that one. Or die to the stack after tangles cause they ran low on the bleed effect. Now don't get me wrong, I always preferred healing and planning ahead to mitigate/shield as much dmg as I could cause that is fun to me. So I don't get annoyed when WHM's or AST's only heal during the heavy dmg parts, I do get annoyed though when I am killed, we got 1-2 others dead as well, and I see my co-heal carrying on dps'ing and not even trying to ress me when I know there is time to do a hard ress. (Especially if a mechanic is coming up where we need everyone alive....)
    ...........This turned out more ranty than I intended lol. Apologies. =')

    I understand Logs as a form of improvement and looking at the different components of a fight and how it went, to study and understand a rotation and maximize your efficiency should you chose to do so. But at the end of the day it’s optional, everyone shouldn’t be obligated to use it. At the end of the day FF14 Is a video game and it will never be anything more than a video game. That tool to view people’s damage and healing etc is ultimately always going to end up being used in a toxic way and used to trash someone for not doing enough. It’s just inevitable for it to end up that way,
    People get too competitive and get too self absorbed into what they can do or how they’re better than someone else. I understand the self improvement part but again I think it’s used in the bad way more than it’s used in a good way

  • @Cmaxon1521

    It's important to realize that parsing well on a Healer is a completely different thing than parsing on any other role, and unless you've played an optimized healer in endgame content you should take a moment before commenting on it with assumptions. SGE currently has the highest HPS (heals per second) potential out of all of the healers, and WHM has the lowest. If you're playing in an optimized setting, such as a static like these people were, then it should be well expected for the SGE to out heal the WHM as SGE's healing is strong, free, and their cooldowns are relatively short. Now we don't know just how these fights shook out, we don't know if the SGE was unwilling or unable to optimize with the WHM, nor do we know how the group as a whole was performing in terms of mitigation, something WHM lacks in comparison to the other healers. Basically, we don't know the whole picture, just because this guy flamed doesn't mean he's absolutely in the right. That being said, as a healer main, it's absolutely important to me to work together with my cohealer to optimize our kit synergy so we can both dps as much as possible and heal as little as needed. Rolling out of a comfy clear with both you and your cohealer parsing orange or pink and both with grey healing is fun and is earned through trust in each other and trust in the group as a whole.

    It's tough because everything is gauged with DPS checks and value isn't determined by other things. It's a shame because using healing and support for value of certain classes would be more helpful.
    This is also why they don't want to add parsing to the base game. Toxicity just follows that.

    "It doesn't matter if someone has the best parse in the world, they can still be not the greatest player" is a huge understatement. I once did a trial roulette where I met a 99-parsing DNC who didn't understand how the dance partner mechanic, literally the main gimmick of the whole job, worked. They were a MCH at the time with 3 DNCs in the party, and they told the two DNCs who didn't partner them to partner the _tanks_ because they thought DNCs partnering _each other_ works the same way as multiple DNCs partnering one other person. They didn't understand that the standard step buffs you get for being the _dancer_ and for being the _dance partner_ are two different buffs and that you can have your own standard step buff _and_ someone else's standard step buff at the same time and the buffs do stack. It's exactly the same as two DRGs giving each other their eyes. At the time I was like "Well obviously they just don't play DNC and don't know how it works" but when I looked them up on FFlogs and found out they're a freaking 99 DNC I was absolutely flabbergasted.

    So if you do some digging about that group:
    -> Mitigation was neglectfully done, not really well executed.
    -> the White Mage was criminally underusing their tools
    My White Mage and I are about even on healing and on low greys since we actually make our grp do their share of the work - aka pressing mitigation buttons. Healing is therefor important to do on tanks and DPS more so than people think, so please do not say it is pointless. This game - especially during earlier weeks of new tiers - is designed around us healers dealing damage. If they do not, the enrages will be failed.
    TL/DR: Press your mitigations and self heals, then the healers can see how much they actually need to do, but definitely do not wipe the party just for 1 Medica II, that is not worth.

  • @harukun
    @harukun 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Honestly the biggest problem for healer parsing is that they don't understand what's a good metric for healing. DPS is something that every player needs to bring, but healers specifically have to also look at minimizing their over-heal. A high heal parse is bad because it often means that your overheal is really high. Also, I don't know who told you that healers need to 'take turns' parsing but that's a really toxic mentality. Healers basically need to work together in order to reduce the amount of GCDs used to heal things, not just leave all the healing to one healer. The best healers in the world work as a unit, understanding that each of them is just half of the overall healing kit for the group. Healers also have to rely very heavily on their group to actually hit mitigation buttons frequently to get a good parse.
    Bearing all this in mind, the best healers also understand that there's a time and place for GCD heals, so it's nearly impossible to parse well in PF unless you're specifically sabotaging your cohealer. Every once in a while you'll run into a good cohealer that will watch what you're doing and understand where and what you're trying to heal and you just kind of click in such a way that you aren't really overlapping all that much because you understand each other's intent and reasoning, but that's EXTREMELY rare. Finding groups that actually utilize their mitigation properly is even rarer, so healers can only reliably get good parses while keeping the party alive in a static environment.
    As someone who has been a raid lead and has been in many higher end statics, we tend to actively avoid healers that have a huge disparity in healing between the two healers because it shows a lack of effort and teamwork. If a healer's logs shows that they consistently have greys in healing while their partners are always purple or more, those healers are to be avoided like the plague regardless what their damage number is.

    I was part of a group doing Diamond Weapon EX when it was new and barely anyone knew the mechs. Our WHM also focused solely on DPS rather than healing, and we were in voice chat with them telling them we needed heals (sometimes outright begging), and they just said "play better". After our 4th wipe, we tried to discuss everything going on and the WHM claimed they were doing their job perfectly, and that everyone else just needs to stop bitching and quit standing in everything. Some of us wanted to kick them, but they were friends with the guy who organized the party, so they had to stay. The runs went on for several hours and we only got 1 clear (they finally started healing a bit more), but not before roughly 13 or 14 wipes. Needless to say, I've not stepped into another bit of content with them since.

    the thing about healer parses is that the LOWER your healing, the better the parse. so it still doesn't solve anything graying out damage since you'll be doing damage when youre not healing anyways. and the game is hugely designed around every job doing damage. back in ARR and even some of heavensward, healers doing damage was seen as a crime. it was a terrible mindset where healers just kind of sat there twiddling their thumbs waiting for damage to happen. most of the healing in this game is just 2 secs of burst healing, waiting every 30-40 secs for a tank buster that tanks can already heal themselves or invuln, and the odd mech where you take sustained raid wides with no follow ups.

    Lol that is funny af! I'm tired of healers complaining about having to heal all the time lately! If you want to dps then be a dps. I'm glad someone is calling out these people, self entitled brats

    All this talk about parsing, but isn't parsing banable? I understand why people do it, but I think it puts too much pressure on what should be chill gameplay.

    ummm... .this person doesnt know shit about healing if they're saying low/grey healing parse is bad. the absolute goal is >nobody dying>low overheal

    • @bellamango6708
      @bellamango6708 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      if they're not keeping people alive then yeah, this tier really needs you to be smart about it but low healing parse isn't bad on its own, for anyone reading. they got through it, so the damage is good enough at least cause its tight rn lol

    This is why Yoshi P does not like parsing software like ACT and why I fully support a ban of anyone who get's caught using them. It breeds this kind of toxicity. Again if you use it. Keep it to yourself and never mention it in game or on discord. I hate this level of toxicity so naturally I'm against the thing that causes it.

  • @celticlord88
    @celticlord88 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Devs should ban this player for this. It's one thing to be frustrated but that doesn't justify abusing other players. I would've reported the player if they screamed at me like that.
    I'm not defending the healer. They were wrong for focusing on dps over healing. Dps should only be done if there's no one to heal or if you can weave it in gcd. Otherwise you should be primarily focused on healing.

  • @harrygraham5810

    more fflogs toxicity, on top of someone sucking, third party mods and logs just creates a toxic community.

    • @ReveredDead
      @ReveredDead 4 หลายเดือนก่อน
