@@GoobertownHobbies From now on, when I'm circling SW for hours on end, I'll be thinking about Gobbertown and decide instead of flapping around in the sky to paint some minis.
WoW Model Viewer was a really amazing tool for printing WoW models (although I only had a pretty cheap 3D printer so it'd be awesome to see the results with some supports and a better printer.)

Well Brent, I was a little dubious about the teal color on every building! You are truly inspirational and undeniably an artist! I think they look fantastic! I am just as glad the other buildings are maintaining their own colors and believe it to be a real world solution too! Nowhere is the roof color the same on every roof! Even in a made up urban-scape there is variety in each and every point of view. Thank you for sharing your esoteric schemes with us! I am looking forward to watching your next video! You are truly a master creator! Please take care and be safe no matter where you may journey.

Great video. As a D&D DM, I have about 20 buildings like these and I really enjoy painting them. I only have 6 done so far. I too was a WoW player years ago and I painted the roofs of my buildings dark blue, dark green, red etc. …now I know where that inspiration came from!

I really like each house having it's own colour, it gives them more character. It reminds me of photos I've seen of Reykjavik in Iceland. There are also a couple of small towns/villages (Tobermory and Portree) on some Scottish islands where some of the cottages have their outside walls painted in different colours rather than the roofs but has a similar feel.

  • @Zadster
    @Zadster 3 ปีที่แล้ว

The colour really makes these models pop! Now 3D resin printing is such a big thing, someone surely has to make some WoW buildings and scenery. Even if they don't actually call them that. You can tell the model sculptor lives in a part of the world that really has old buildings like these to use as inspiration - the stone and wood look really authentic. As a side note: the iron bars in the windows aren't iron bars but lead. In old times, windows were made from lots of individual small panes of glass that were made by hand. These were slotted together with strips of lead which has a sort of 'H' cross section. These are then soldered together to make a larger window. Very common in many parts of Europe, both in old houses and stained glass church windows etc.

  • @Bluecho4

If the roofs are tiled with ceramic, the color may be dictated by the color of available clay deposits nearby. For example, a town may be nearby to large deposits of red clay, and thus have red tiled roofs. It's possible to change the color of ceramic tiles by either mixing pigments into the clay or glazing it, prior to firing.
So it might be that the leaders of a particular town (mayor, sheriff/shire reeve, local lord) might mandate a particular color for the tiles. Or it may be a product of local materials.

WarCraft 2 on PS1 was my JAM dude! Whenever I hear the PS1 intro I still think back to all my memories with that game.
Oh, and your stonework is looking superb too! :D

That looks so beautiful; I can just imagine the little minis wandering the streets admiring the vibrant roofs of Goobertown!
One piece of advice, take or leave it, but Oregon is pronounced the same way that organ is (two syllables and the "gon" rhymes with the one in wagon, I guess because that's what you drive on the Oregon Trail). By the end of the video I'd completely forgotten why you said Oregon, but not the way you'd said it.

Hehehe, so I've heard! My characters never made it to oregon though, so they never learned how to pronounce it. ;-)

Love the video, love your videos and love the choice of leaving every colour you painted! Thanks for your contents. As I said in a previous comment: they are a balm in these hard times. Keep up the good work! :)
P.s.: can't wait to see the fisherman's house finished :)

Personally I was a fan of the green. It didn't contrast very strongly with the darker shades of wood, but I think that made it kinda nice in between of WoW and generic fantasy styles to be used abd have someone says "this kinda reminds me of WoW" vs the Stormwind blue of "This is from WoW". But seeing all the colored houses together makes me feel like this a complete town, ready for adventurers. I'd like to see that fishing house on some resin water, maybe just a pond that could be where are the Goobertown residents come to dip their feet. Either way, a comfy town.

Thanks! Yeah green definitely could have been a thing, It would've been one of the more natural and thematic colors to go with. I'm glad the rainbow town kinda works tho! :-)

@@GoobertownHobbies All my dinos are very polite and hardly ever destroys a building or stampede through a crowd (unless there are chaos deamons nearby but I don't think that really counts) :-D

I like how you are continues about still finding a use for products you don't like; like you did with the Vallejo wash for example. I like it because I would do the same ;)
